Jerry Jeudy Highlights the Top 5 Breakout Wide Receivers

The wide receiver position in fantasy football tends to be the most challenging to manage. In the high-stakes fantasy market, many top players want to be strong at wideout to eliminate decision-making from week to week. If your wide receiver corps has too many similar players that fall in the WR3 to WR4 range, their outcomes can be high in some weeks. But often their top games are followed by dull or empty performances.

A WR3 or flex option can make sense to have an explosive type player who can put up difference-maker scores. Last year, wide receivers produced 44 games with 30.00 fantasy points or more in PPR formats. Twelve of these games came from Justin Jefferson (7) and Davante Adams (5). No other player had more than two impact games. Outside the top 24 highest-scoring wideouts, only eight wideouts scored higher than 30.00 fantasy points. All impact games came from the top 48 scoring wide receivers.

In comparison, there were 142 wide receiver games between 20.00 and 29.95 fantasy points. Stefon Diggs (7) led this category, followed by Tyreek Hill (6) and Amari Cooper (5). Here’s the ranking by groups:

  • WR1s – 41
  • WR2s – 29
  • WR3s – 25
  • WR4s – 14
  • All others – 32

When listing my breakout wide receivers, I’m looking for players to jump at least one level in production from last year and outperform their current ADP in the high-stakes market.

Jerry Jeudy (Denver Broncos)

The Broncos passing offense and scoring fell well below expectations in 2022. Russell Wilson posted his worst season in his 11 years in the NFL. With Sean Payton in change, Denver would be much better offensively this season. Despite their offensive struggles and Jerry Jeudy missing two games, he finished 22nd in wide receiver scoring (204.20) in PPR leagues. His best play came over the final five games (8/73/3, 7/76, 6/117, 7/38, and 5/154). Jeudy looks poised to push to WR1 status in 2023. He ranks 17th at wideout over the past month.

2023 Fantasy Football Strength of Schedule: WR

Chris Olave

There is certainly no shortage of analytics and data available to fantasy football enthusiasts. One of the most useful tools available to the well-prepared fantasy drafter is to break down the strength of schedule for each position. FullTime’s 2023 Fantasy

There is certainly no shortage of analytics and data available to fantasy football enthusiasts. One of the most useful tools available to the well-prepared fantasy drafter is to break down the strength of schedule for each position. FullTime’s 2023 Fantasy Football Strength of Schedule: WR looks at the most crucial position to give you a draft-day edge.

While there is plenty of strength of schedule analysis out there, FullTime Fantasy breaks down the data in a unique way. In addition to season-long data, FullTime Fantasy Members get access to all positions including IDP. Also, the data can be sorted by remaining games and broken down into sections. This can be especially helpful for high-stakes and tournament drafters looking for the edge during the fantasy playoffs.

Also, don’t forget to explore our previous 2023 strength of schedule analysis for quarterbacks and running backs. Now, let’s check out the 2023 fantasy football strength of schedule: WR.

The numbers listed include Weeks 1-17.

Favorable Schedules

Chris Olave & Michael Thomas (New Orleans Saints) – Playing six games in the NFC South certainly doesn’t hurt for the underrated New Orleans Saints receiving corps. QB Derek Carr should be a big improvement over Andy Dalton. Plus, Carr has a notable history of peppering his No. 1 wideout with targets. That should be a boon for sophomore Chris Olave, who already ranked 10th in the league with a 29.3% target rate in 2022.

Michael Thomas was also off to a fast start before succumbing to another season-ending injury. When healthy, Thomas remains an elite pass catcher. While his fantasy football ADP has started to creep up, Thomas remains an excellent value pick to target in drafts.

For Thomas and Olave, expect a fast start and finish. New Orleans has the second-easiest schedule for wide receivers in Weeks 1-5 and again from Weeks 11-15. Also…

Top 5 Landing Spots for DeAndre Hopkins

Deandre Hopkins

After failing to find a viable trade candidate, the Arizona Cardinals released veteran wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins. The 30-year-old five-time Pro Bowl wideout is now free to sign with any NFL team. And there will be substantial interest in acquiring his services. However, we’ll narrow it down to just top 5 landing spots for DeAndre Hopkins. Hopkins hasn’t exceeded 1,000 receiving yards in a season since 2020 but there is still plenty left in the tank. In terms of sheer PPR points per game, D-Hop ranked ninth with 17.1 PPG in 2022. There may be salary and negotiating concerns, but Hopkins is still a premier receiver. A healthy Hopkins for 17 games would be a huge upgrade and addition for several contending squads. Let’s break down Fulltime Fantasy‘s top 5 landing spots for DeAndre Hopkins this summer. — Kansas City Chiefs — As potent as the defending Super Bowl Champs are, they lack a true No. 1 alpha receiver. Kadarius Toney is a contender to see an expanded role in 2023, but Hopkins would instantly step in and be a huge upgrade to Andy Reid’s offense. The Chiefs were already in previous trade negotiations for Hopkins but couldn’t agree on compensation. Now, on the open market, Reid and company are free to offer Nuk the potential to command up to a 25% target share in their high-octane offense. Plus, the Chiefs are favorites to repeat as champions, which will appeal to Hopkins’s desire to sign with a contender. However, Kansas City currently has the second-fewest available cap space dollars and Hopkins is expected to command a healthy salary on the open market. It will take some creativity for the Chiefs to fit Hopkins onto their roster. But, from a fantasy football perspective, there may be no better fit. — Buffalo Bills — The Bills were also negotiating with Arizona about acquiring Hopkins. In addition to showing interest, Buffalo has an obvious need for a legitimate threat to take some of the pressure off of Stefon Diggs. Sorry Gabriel Davis truthers, but Davis isn’t it. Like KC, Buffalo doesn’t have much in the way of available salary cap, but should otherwise appeal to Hopkins. Plus, Fanduel currently lists the Bills as +350 favorites to sign Hopkins. Joining the Bills would also be a huge plus from a fantasy football perspective. Josh Allen would be the best quarterback Hopkins has played with and there would be no shortage of targets in Buffalo’s No. 2-ranked offense. — Philadelphia Eagles — When it comes to salary cap gymnastics, no team competes with Howie Roseman and the Philadelphia Eagles. While Philly already has a pair of star wideouts in A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith, the appeal of playing for the defending NFC champions and earning a competitive salary would undoubtedly appeal to Hopkins. Signing with the Eagles would probably be a better football move than it would be for fantasy. Smith and Brown already have established roles and it would be hard to envision Hopkins earning enough targets to contend for top-20 wideout numbers in Philly’s run-friendly attack. — Detroit Lions — The Lions are now considered serious contenders after barely missing out on the NFC playoffs last season. Dan Campbell’s squad could also use a veteran presence like DeAndre Hopkins while Jameson Williams opens the season with a six-game suspension. Hopkins would fit in beautifully as the top perimeter threat for a Lions attack that already boasts Amon-Ra St. Brown and Rookie TE Sam LaPorta. Nuk’s presence would be problematic for defenses that already struggled to contain this offense last winter. — Cleveland Browns — Cleveland has a proven commodity that would certainly appeal to DeAndre Hopkins- QB Deshaun Watson. Many think it was Bill O’Brien’s ill-advised decision to unceremoniously trade Hopkins to Arizona that was the catalyst that led to Watson’s refusal to play for Houston in 2021. In three seasons with Watson as his signal caller, Hopkins averaged 162 targets, 105 receptions, 1,372 receiving yards, and 10 touchdowns.  The Browns only ranked 22nd in passing in 2022. However, with a full season of Watson under center, Cleveland has sneaky upside. Plus, the Browns could really use an established wideout to pair with Amari Cooper and the emerging Donovan Peoples-Jones. Deshaun Watson could be the wildcard that makes the Browns a darkhorse candidate to sign DeAndre Hopkins. It might not be the most desirable fantasy landing spot up front but could wind up being just the kind of role to get Nuk back into WR1 territory. GET THE UPDATES! 2023 Free Agent Rankings: Wide Receivers

Odell Beckham Jr.

Any way you look at it, the 2023 free-agent class of wideouts is not great. There are no obvious stud wideouts available. However, timing is everything and with so many teams needing veteran pass catchers, somebody will break the bank. Mid-to-Late Round WRs to Target

Get a group of 12 football fans together and you might get a dozen different draft strategies. For the many people who will choose to attack running back depth first, our mid-to-late round WRs to target is the perfect companion piece

Focusing on running backs early is the opposite of Zero-RB. RB truthers love attacking running back early and often and look to load up on quality pass-catchers later. The approach is old school but makes a lot of sense with the available wide receiver depth in the middle rounds.

For you early running back fans, here are some mid-to-late round WRs targets to draft after loading up on runners early. And don’t forget to check out our 2022 Zero-RB targets.

FFWC high-stakes ADP data found here.

Rashod Bateman (Baltimore Ravens) ADP 47.1, (WR27)

We’ve seen Hollywood Brown finish as a WR2 in the Ravens system and have significant stretches looking like an impressive WR1 and now his absence vacated 146 targets from last year and that’s with him missing a game. The Ravens didn’t add any significant pieces at wideout because they believe in Bateman. While he’s not quite as fast as Hollywood, I view Bateman as a better prospect and should develop into a better more well-rounded wideout. There is no reason he shouldn’t see 150 targets in 2022.

Elijah Moore (New York Jets) ADP  51.2, (WR30)

The only reason Moore isn’t being drafted as a WR1 is that he’s on the Jets and the QB situation is a nightmare. That’s a fair argument and I fully understand not having faith in Zach Wilson. However, the talent wins out here for me. Moore broke out down the stretch last year before getting injured. Over his final six games, he posted 34 receptions on 51 targets for 459 yards and five touchdowns. The QBs may not be improved, but the wideout should be just as good if not better…

Fantasy Football Late-Round WR Sleepers

August has finally arrived and that means it’s fantasy football draft time. One of the most important strategies for success is to target those fantasy football late-round WR sleepers. Along with identifying 2022’s deep sleepers and fantasy football breakouts, loading up on late-round WR sleepers can make all the difference between drafting a contender and a championship-winning roster. Using FFWC high-stakes ADP, here are the late-round WR sleepers to draft in 2022.

WR Skyy Moore (Kansas City Chiefs) ADP 91.2 (WR48) – The only concern for Moore coming out of Western Michigan was the level of competition. Moore was PFF’s No. 4-graded wideout in 2021 and led all receivers in missed tackles forced. So far, we’ve seen that transition over nicely into the pros. The second-round rookie has been turning heads and meshing well with QB Patrick Mahomes.

With Tyreek Hill now in Miami, the door is open for Moore to earn a substantial role right away in Kansas City. Indications are he may be doing just that. Moore’s inside/outside flexibility and run-after-catch ability make him an intriguing fantasy prospect in the 9th or 10th round.

Jalen Tolbert (Dallas Cowboys) ADP 108.3 (WR52) – Another Day Two rookie pass-catcher, Tolbert should have a clear path to a starting role right away in a Dallas offense that finished No. 1 in 2021. Michael Gallup has already stated he will not be ready when the season opens. Now, Tolbert’s main competition, James Washington, was just carted off the field with an apparent ankle/foot injury.

QB Dak Prescott supported a pair of top-27 PPR wide receivers last season, CeeDee Lamb and Amari Cooper. Now that Cooper resides in Cleveland, the door is open for Tolbert to command 80-plus targets in Year One. That makes him very undervalued at his current draft position.

D.J. Chark (Detroit Lions) ADP 130.4 (WR62) – Chark missed most of last season with an ankle injury. The good news there is…
