NHL DFS: The Slapshot 3/1

Welcome to March!  Normally we have just one NHL article on Friday’s, but with the final Live Final Qualifier tonight being a decent multi-entry tournament night (mostly because thats what the DFS sites are dictating to us) I figured I

NHL DFS: The Slapshot – 2/28

With seven games to close out the month of February we have a perfectly sized Thursday slate and a unique spot where four of the teams are on the second leg of back to backs and all are on the road tonight.  I do kinda say that every slate is nice, but hey, that’s optimism for you.  I will be flying solo on today’s article, so use this for all your cash and tournament spots tonight and lets get rolling.

NHL DFS: The Slapshot – Feb 25

Finally the trade deadline will be out of the way by the time teams take the ice tonight which should hopefully mean we get some line-up stability after lots of shifting around lately.  There are six games tonight with five home favorites.   STACKS OF THE NIGHT Colorado Avalanche … Nathan MacKinnon, Mikko Rantanen, Alex Kerfoot In the … what lines are the Avalanche doing today … category we have Mikko Rantanen back up with Nathan MacKinnon who seemingly BUSTED out of his slump over the weekend and now gets one of his former linemates back with him.  The Panthers-Avalanche game is the best core game to use tonight for lineups and COL1 should be the play. Montreal Canadiens … Jonathan Drouin Phil Danault, Brendan Gallagher If you wanted to use MTL 2 as well you could but I want Brendan Gallagher if I am going to use the Canadiens.   Chalk Stacks Today:  Tavares/Marner (TOR) and Tampa (Stamkos, Kuch exposure).   SNEAKY STACK Nashville Predators … Ryan Johansen, Viktor Arvidsson, Filip Forsberg Okay Preds, I am giving you one final shot.  You haven’t really been good all season long and there’s been some injuries along the way that have held me off you, but I gotta pick on an Edmonton team coming into town tonight without Connor McDavid and the Preds at home again where they looked horrible on Saturday afternoon against the Colorado Avalanche.  For the cost of this full line tonight I think we’ll get them very low owned and they should dominate against a very thin Edmonton team.  Make Carrie happy.   ONE OFFS (C-W-D) William Nylander – C – $3900 … Nylander has been moved to center on DraftKings while he filled in for Kadri.  He’s my must play one off from this game in the UTIL spot tonight.  The price is a steal for someone who should generate plenty of shots.  I like the Toronto third line in what should be one of the better DFS games on the night. Evgenii Dadanov – W – $5400 .. The Panthers won’t be the next victim of the Avs sudden defensive surge.  Florida’s first road game in a LOOOOONG time but something tells me they’re happy to get out and on the road and will keep this game close.  The Trocheck-Dadanov line will score tonight. Tyson Barrie – D –  $5200 .. How much Barrie is too much Barrie today?  Love him as the fourth wheel in the AVS top line stack today. Ryan Ellis – D – $5000 … Wouldn’t be a Nashville stack without someone from the blue line.  Subban is questionable tonight and Josi’s price is too much for me on this slate, so Ellis is someone who normally gets involved when they have big nights.   FADE Tampa Bay Lightning … Coming off 4 days rest vs a slower paced team in the Kings.  Jack Campbell is a longshot Goalie choice today.   GOALIES Carey Price (MTL) … My favorite goalie tonight, but not by a ton. Pekka Rinne (NSH) … I fear he wont see a ton of shots. Jake Markstrom (VAN) … Should be a popular play as folks pick on the Ducks in a low total game. Jack Campbell (LAK) … Longshot   The Slap … SHOTS LINE LOCK OF THE NIGHT:   MacKinnon, Rantanen, Barrie – Colorado ONE OFF STUD WINGER:   Brendan Gallagher – MTL ONE OFF VALUE WINGER:    William Nylander* – TOR … Technically listed as center tonight on DK TOP DEFENSEMAN:   Tyson Barrie – COL BETS: Panthers/AVS Over 6.5 Ducks/Canucks UNDER 5.5 Kings ML +274

NHL DFS: The Slapshot (Cheat Sheet) – 2/12

It’s back to a bigger slate tonight with 12 games around the league and ten of them begin by 8 PM EST or earlier, so expect lots of early fireworks.  I’ll have just another short quick cheat sheet for today with Rob Geriak having a full detailed breakdown in The Point Shot. LINE LOCK OF THE NIGHT Eric Staal – Jason Zucker – Jordan Greenway (Minnesota Wild) The Wild welcome in the Flyers on a B2B and without Carter Hart in net, which means that the little Cinderella slipper the Flyers had going on is about to completely fall off and get run over by the rest of the league.  The Wild are rested here and should carve up the Flyers off that physical game vs the Penguins last night in which they pepper the Pens but couldn’t break through. TOP STUD ONE OFF Gabriel Landeskog – Colorado Avalanche The Avalanche have gone from being everyone’s favorite line to stack to virtually un-owned each slate.  The reason is because of the hefty price tag that all three players are carrying and just that nobody wants to pay $22,200 for just three players in their lineup.  It’s the most expensive stack by far and nobody wants to play one offs anymore.  This has opened up all the Avs as great one offs tonight and with the value I get on the Wild second line I can get both Landeskog and MacKinnon in the same lineup.   TOP VALUE ONE OFF Brayden Schenn – St. Louis Blues   TOP DEFENSEMAN John Klingberg – Dallas Stars   FAVORITE GOALIES Jordan Binnington, Blues I will likely have Dubnyk to correlate with my Wild stack, but Binnington has been really good lately and the Blues overall are playing well and should win at home tonight.   Also, Jimmy Howard is your upset goalie of the night.  The Red Wings have owned the Predators.   FAVORITE STACKS 3 Star (Single Entry/Smaller Field): Winnipeg Jets … Scheifele, Wheeler, Connor, Trouba   2 Star (Larger Single Entry or 2/3 Entry Max): Minnesota Wild … Staal, Zucker, Greenway, Suter   1 Star (MME/Longshot): Detroit Red Wings … Dylan Larkin, Gustav Nyquist, Mike Green, Jimmy Howard   BETS Wild -1.5 Rangers / Jets Over 6.5 Devils / Blues Over 5.5 Red Wings ML

NHL DFS: The Slapshot – 2/4

Small four game slate today and a severe lack of solid DFS contest choices on DK tonight in my view point.  Given that there are only a few games and the single entry contests are limited, there’s a slight desire to do some MME or maybe lets say 10 lineups on a slate like tonight.  So I’ll cover each of the games and offer up the top plays from each spot with overall rankings below for single entry and cash players.
