Vegas Just Went ALL-IN On This Rookie RB

Long-time Las Vegas gambler and ranked high-stakes fantasy player Frank Taddeo (@RespectedMoney on X) is always watching Vegas oddsmakers to identify best bets and fantasy values. This NFL rookie running back is projected to have a MAJOR IMPACT by Oddsmakers, making him a BIG VALUE for Zero RB builds A major component of my success playing high-stakes fantasy football at the FFWC is incorporating player projections of oddsmakers into my NFL model. I began creating my model back in 2010 when I created the only over-the-counter DFS program offered to date in a Las Vegas sportsbook. Over the next several months here at Fulltime Fantasy, I will be highlighting players that are witnessing significant movement in their 2024 NFL betting markets. In my first installment, I will be focusing on Carolina rookie running back Jonathon Brooks. The Panthers traded up in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft to draft the former Texas standout as the first running back off the board at No. 46 overall. Jonathon Brooks is one of the best RBs in College Football 💨 The #1 RB Prospect according to PFFs Big Board 🔥 pic.twitter.com/DS67d4q5nx — College Football Report (@CFBRep) February 1, 2024 While many fantasy managers may be hesitant to invest in a back coming off a torn ACL last November, it is wise to pay attention to new coach Dave Canales’ intent of his offense to focus on running the ball.  Check out our detailed Rookie Scouting Profile of Jonathon Brooks here. VEGAS ODDSMAKERS RESPOND TO COACHES RECENT COMMENTS Dave Canales to Jonathon Brooks: “The intent of our offense is to run the ball.” — Joe Person (@josephperson) May 10, 2024 Oddsmakers are paying attention to Canales’s offensive game plan. The talented back, who was installed with a rushing yards betting projection of 500.5, has witnessed the biggest move of any running back in the rushing yards market. The 6-foot-1, 216-pound physical back now sits with a betting demand of 775.5 yards at DraftKings.  “A MOVE THIS BIG IS ABSURD, YOU DON’T SEE IT VERY OFTEN.” -Frank Taddeo When oddsmakers make a move of 275 yards, fantasy managers need to take note. Brooks, who currently has an ADP of RB28, came off the board at 7.12 in a Circa Las Vegas Fantasy Championship Draft held on May 30. Due to playing behind Bijan Robinson in his first two collegiate seasons, Brooks only enjoyed one season as the featured call carrier for the Longhorns. In 2023, Brooks rushed for 1,139 yards and 10 touchdowns in just 10 games before suffering the season-ending knee injury.  In Carolina, Brooks only finds veterans Chuba Hubbard, Miles Sanders, and Rashaad Penny on the depth chart. That is far from an imposing backfield which will easily result in Brooks taking over lead duties by the start of the season.  Canales’s vow to focus on the rushing attack to help Bryce Young, combined with the sizable move by oddsmakers, means fantasy managers should not be afraid to invest in the powerful rookie as a viable RB2/Flex option this season with only middle-round draft capital demand. 2022 Dynasty WR Rookie Rankings

When the NFL Draft concludes, fantasy football dynasty draft season begins and it is a glorious time. After months of watching film, breaking down analytics, and measuring up potential fits, we now know where all the coveted NFL rookies were selected and it is time to see the fantasy fallout.

After ranking the 2022 dynasty rookie RBs, I’m now presenting my picks for the top-25 rookie wide receivers. The more I’ve watched this class the more I’ve liked it. It might lack depth, but there’s plenty to like in this first-year crop.

Here are my 2022 rookie wideout rankings and how I’ll be approaching rookie-only drafts this season.

FullTime Fantasy’s 2022 Dynasty Rookie Rankings

Immediate Impact Starters

Drake London (Atlanta Falcons) – As the draft drew closer, it became apparent that London had a real shot at being the first widout selected and that’s exactly what transpired. London is huge (6-4, 219) and has the wheels to be a formidable downfield threat. He also walks into a situation where he’ll undoubtedly be Atlanta’s No. 1 wide receiver and should be peppered with targets from Day One. While the Falcons are projected to be one of the five worst squads in football, London should capitalize with massive volume and has major red-zone appeal. He’s my No. 1 rookie wideout and should contend for weekly WR2 status.

Garret Wilson (New York Jets) – A versatile weapon from Ohio State, Wilson has the twitchy moves and route running to be a dangerous threat around the line of scrimmage but also has enough jets (4.38 speed) to be a dangerous downfield weapon from the perimeter or inside. Wilson’s 91.8 PFF grade against single coverage was the second-highest in FBS and he’s also adept at going over the middle to reel in tough catches. He’s a complete receiver and gives the Jets an intriguing group of skill-position talent to support sophomore QB Zach Wilson.

Treylon Burks (Tennessee Titans) – The shocking draft-day trade of A.J. Brown to Philadelphia opens the door for Burks to potentially emerge as Tennessee’s No. 1 perimeter wideout as early as 2022. The ironic thing in that trade is that the explosive Burks was often comped to Brown as a sizable downfield weapon who has the size and strength to create a ton of yards after catch and break tackles. He’ll get the opportunity to shine right away in Brown’s old spot and should benefit from the presence of a healthy Robert Woods.

2022 Dynasty Rookie RB Rankings

Breece Hall

For dynasty fantasy enthusiasts, the NFL Draft is the highlight of the entire season. All that hard work put into scouting, film, and rookie profiles finally play out and we get to see the results take place at the draft.

For dynasty fantasy enthusiasts, the NFL Draft is the highlight of the entire season. All that hard work put into scouting, film, and rookie profiles finally play out and we get to see the results take place at the draft.

Now that we know the final landing spots of all the 2022 NFL rookies, it’s time to adjust our rankings and rank the 2022 rookie class of running backs.

Following up on my pre-draft rookie rankings, here is my updated approach to how I will be approaching rookie-only drafts in 2022 and how I value the next crop of rookie rushers.

Early-Round Targets

1. Breece Hall (New York Jets) – The pre-draft 1.01, Hall was the first running back selected but wasn’t targeted until the fourth pick of Round Two. Hall’s landing spot was fine, as the Jets seemed to walk away with an impressive draft haul. However, New York also has sophomore Michael Carter on the roster, who was a popular sleeper pick in early ADP.

Expect Robert Saleh to employ a full-blown backfield by committee, with Hall as the 1A to Carter’s change-of-pace and pass-catching role. While not ideal from a fantasy perspective, Hall’s size, speed, and three-down ability should give him the edge in an ascending offense.

2. Kenneth Walker III (Seattle Seahawks) – Speaking of committee backfields, the Seahawks have three capable runners in the fold and will be a tough team to handicap. Chris Carson is expected to be fully healthy and the club also re-signed Rashaad Penny, who single-handedly won many a fantasy league with his late-season performance last year.

Walker may not have an expansive role right away, but he also boasts three-down ability and finished second in this class in explosive rush rate. Regardless of Walker’s 2022 role, both Carson and Penny are in the final year of their contracts, which opens the door for Walker to possibly be the undisputed starter in 2023.

3. Dameon Pierce (Houston Texans) – As we say often, opportunity is everything in fantasy football. And when it comes to opportunity, Pierce appears to have the best shot at opening 2022 with a starting role. All that stands in the way of the fourth-rounder from starting is aging Rex Burkhead and Marlon Mack.

Pierce flashed dynamic upside, ranking second in FBS in missed tackles forced and fourth in yards created per attempt. He was also PFF’s top-graded receiving back in all of FBS and has a pretty clear path to immediate playing time.

4. Rachaad White (Tampa Bay Buccaneers) – Leonard Fournette re-signed with the Bucs but Tampa has little established depth behind their workhorse. White is an outstanding pass-catcher who could start contributing right away. At USC, White showed up outstanding versatility by lining up all over the field. He also has good size (6-0, 218) and boasted an 89th-percentile speed score.

Fournette is likely to remain Tampa’s lead dog but White was one of the top pass-catching options in this class and will give the Bucs a legitimate weapon that offers more three-down ability than Ronald Jones.

5. James Cook (Buffalo Bills) – Zay Jones truthers should be concerned because Cook is an excellent pass-catcher and Jones had clearly fallen out of favor by December. While Devin Singletary remains entrenched as the starter, he’s entering the final year of his rookie deal. Cook is actually bigger than Singletary and ran a 94th-percentile 4.42 40-yard dash. The former Georgia Bulldog has a good shot at being fantasy-relevant quite early on.

Rookie Scouting Profile: RB Isaiah Spiller

Isaiah Spiller

Isaiah Spiller (RB) Texas A&M Height Weight 40-Time DOB NFL Draft Dynasty ADP NFL Comp 6-0 217 — 08/09/2001 2-3 1.05 Arian Foster College Production A sizable power back with solid receiving skills, Spiller posted consecutive seasons with 1000-plus rushing yards after debuting in 2019 with 174 totes for 946 yards and a career-high 10 rushing scores. As a testament to his three-down skill set, Spiller reeled in 20-plus in each of his three campaigns with the Aggies. Was named to the All-SEC First Team in 2020 and earned Second Team accolades in 2021 after averaging 5.6 yards per carry, the highest of his collegiate career. Spiller displayed the size and strength to be a plus short-yardage option in the NFL and was more than adequate as a pass-catcher. Strengths • Nice blend of size and power. Powerful legs churned out extra yards while he also was willing to lower his head and deliver blows to would-be tacklers. • Displayed the foot quickness, cutting ability, and decisiveness to excel in a zone scheme. • Excellent vision and ability to consistently make correct decisions in choosing proper running lanes and cuts in the backfield. • Seemed to be gliding as a runner, with good anticipation. Keeps feet moving to churn out plenty of yards after contact. • Good receiver who snagged 20-plus balls in each of his three collegiate seasons. Hands are good enough for Spiller to stay on the field on third downs. • Has the ability to play in all situations, including 2-minute drills, third downs, and has the profile to develop into a plus goal-line option. Weaknesses • Did not run at the Combine and does not have elite speed. Projected to run somewhere between 4.5 and 4.6. • Has ball security issues. Committed 8 fumbles at A&M, some of which resulted in carrying the ball carelessly or leaving himself open to having ball punched out from behind. • Upright running style could leave him susceptible to big hits, leading to the potential for injuries and the potential to turn the ball over. • Adequate blocker but will need to improve in this area against faster and stronger NFL pass-rushers to earn consistent playing time early. Fantasy Outlook Spiller is often comped to Arian Foster due to the latter’s success as a three-down, one-cut runner that lacked top-end speed. Spiller probably has better power than Foster but has yet to show the breakaway ability to consistently run away from defenders. Injuries prevented Spiller from participating in most of the on-field drills at the NFL Scouting Combine, which will temporarily hurt his fantasy football value in both redraft and dynasty. A solid showing at the Texas A&M Pro Day could reverse that, particularly if Spiller can run in the low 4.5s. Landing spot will also be key and worrisome if Spiller slips into the middle part of the third round of the NFL Draft and lands with a pro team that already has an established starter. For now, Spiller is still a top-3 fantasy prospect and will warrant top-10 attention in rookie-only drafts, after Breece Hall and the top 3-4 wideouts.

Rookie Scouting Profile: RB Breece Hall

Breece Hall

Breece Hall (RB) Iowa State Height Weight 40-Time DOB NFL Draft Dynasty ADP NFL Comp 5-11 217 4.39 05/31/2001 1-2 1.01 Le’Veon Bell/ Matt Forte College Production Showcased workhorse potential in three seasons with the Cyclones. As the starter in 2020, rushed 279 times for 1,572 yards (5.6 ypc) and chipped in 23 receptions for an additional 180 yards, and totaled 23 touchdowns. Performed even better as a junior, taking 253 totes for 1,472 yards, 20 rushing TDs, and contributed another 36/302/3 through the air.  Hall consistently stood out in all areas of the game and has an all-around skill set that matches up very well with today’s spread offenses in the NFL. Strengths Elite speed is indicated by posting a 97th-percentile 40-yard dash and speed score at the Combine. 5 of his 56 career TDs at Iowa State came from 75-plus yards. Fluid pass-catcher and pass protection skills are indicative of a three-down pro prospect. Posted a 94th-percentile burst score and has the vision and shiftiness to consistently break off big chunk plays.  Hall’s 116.85  Speed Score was the second-highest of any skill position player at the Combine. Has the frame, size, and experience to be an effective NFL workhorse. Plus pass-catcher and short-yardage option. Weaknesses Stayed healthy at Iowa State but compiled nearly 600 touches in the past two seasons.  Immediate production could be hampered if he has to improvise or compensate behind a poor offensive line.  Will need to improve decisiveness in the backfield against faster NFL defenders Could be forced into a committee backfield if he slips out of the top-40 picks.  Fantasy Outlook One of the biggest winners from the Combine, Hall fortified his pre-workout opinions of being the top running back of the 2022 draft class. He has the skill set to develop into a stellar three-down stud with plus pass-catching skills. Should be an immediate candidate to exceed 50 targets. Landing with a creative play-caller would be a plus as Hall has the speed, power, and hands to develop into an RB1 if he wins the starting job in camp. A sure-fire top-3 rookie-only pick, Breece Hall’s Combine showing improved his dynasty stock and he should see his start-up dynasty ADP rise into overall RB2 territory overall.  Hall opened as the +200 favorite to be the first running back selected in the 2022 NFL Draft and that line quickly was bet down to -110. That’s a good indicator that there’s a solid consensus that Hall is viewed as the top option in a surprisingly deep class of ball-carriers. The only question now is when will teams be willing to pull the trigger? Expect Hall to go anywhere from the late part of the first round to (more likely) the first 10 picks of Round Two.

The players selected at the top of all rookie drafts in dynasty leagues usually end up on the worst teams in the league. Those middling teams and ones that failed on an opportunity to secure the bag are left scrounging around for the sleepers that either went unnoticed or ended up on the waiver wire. By finding those diamonds in the rough, you can gain a huge advantage in retooling for the following season.

Here are rookie sleepers at RB, WR, and TE that you should roster in hopes of uncovering a gem in your dynasty leagues.

Rookies Who Could Emerge in 2021

Rhamondre Stevenson (RB) New England Patriots

Rhamondre Stevenson is the classic thunder-and-lightning type running back, filling in the former portion of such a duo. A physical grinder, Stevenson possesses an imposing stiff-arm much like former Patriots RB LeGarrette Blount (who many have comped Stevenson to). Even though Stevenson is a bruising back, he has demonstrated the ability to evade defenders near the line of scrimmage by using his athleticism (e.g., good footwork, solid contact balance, and spin moves)…

Subscribe today and use the Promo TD30 for 30% off your first two months! The influx of running backs from the 2020 draft class spoiled fantasy football owners throughout last season and continuing into this offseason. If an owner took a chance on one of the consensus’ top seven or eight at the position, it was nearly impossible to find a “bust.” The downside, however, is the class filled a majority of the prime landing spots, leaving few available for the incoming 2021 class. What can we expect from this group of running backs this year after the bar was set highly in 2020? The Sure-Fire Starters Najee Harris – Alabama / 6’1” – 225 lbs Harris is the newest ‘Bama product at the running back position to enter the NFL after proving to be an absolute tank at the collegiate level. Coming off of back-to-back seasons where he produced at least 1,500 yards from scrimmage, Harris sits atop the 2021 class as a day-one starter for both his NFL team and all fantasy squads. With only 638 rushing attempts to his name, the tires have miles and miles of tread left despite being one of the older rookie backs in the class. As for his play style, Harris is a well-built all-around back who shows a thrilling combination of power and elusiveness. He does a great job of following his blockers and waiting for the scheme to open a lane. He is a comfortable pass catcher out of the backfield and will be solid in pass protection. Whether he will run over defenders or make them completely whiff is his decision, which will frighten opposing defensive coordinators weeks before they face him. Grade: High-end starter NFL Draft Projection: Late 1st – Early 2nd Projected DFWC ADP: 1.01 Comparison: A healthy James Conner on steroids Bottom Line: Harris will step in and become an immediate stud for his team and all fantasy teams, no matter the format. Don’t miss your chance on Najee Harris. Javonte Williams – North Carolina / 5’10” 220 lbs This is reserved for our Premium Members. Click here to read the Member version or click here to subscribe. Travis Etienne – Clemson / 5’10” – 210 lbs Etienne leaves the Tigers with one of the most impressive resumes to date. He averaged more than 1,700 yards from scrimmage throughout his final three years in the NCAA. Though many believed he was going to be a part of the 2020 class, Etienne shocked the world and chose to return for his senior season in 2021. In doing so, he showed definite improvement as a pass catcher, which was the biggest question mark about his projection to the NFL. Etienne is an explosive one-cut runner who will accelerate quicker than anyone else on the field. He bounces off tacklers and runs through contact at a high level. He vastly improved as a receiver, so expect a fair share of targets as a rookie. He may run into some trouble with his flexibility as he struggles to avoid contact far too often. He lacks shiftiness and is more straight-line than many want to believe. Etienne is wildly inconsistent in pass protection, which could limit his snaps on third down throughout his first couple years in the league. Grade: Starter with limitations NFL Draft Projection: 2nd Projected DFWC ADP: 1.03 Comparison: Kenyan Drake (floor) – Aaron Jones (ceiling) Bottom Line: Etienne will have an explosive, yet short-lived window of production in the NFL. Ignore the Kamara comparisons and be ready to sell after an early peak. Kenneth Gainwell – Memphis / 5’10” – 201 lbs This is reserved for our Premium Members.
