He gave us the courage to create and bring the Fantasy Football World Championships to life and our live events to Las Vegas and here we are, concluding our 12th season!   Emil even co-founded the “original” WCOFF many years ago, managed FootballDiehards.com, and published many fantasy magazines you see on the shelves over the last few decades.   Last September, Emil was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. He bravely battled and continued to produce and support content with his usual humble and modest approach, even after he sold his business to better his family’s future. Emil fought hard and we want to keep his fighting spirit alive.    The entire fantasy community lost a legend and we wanted to give back to Emil’s family and the community. He was always a positive, supportive voice in this space and his impact can’t be measured. He is missed by so many, especially us. He subsequently learned it is at stage 4 and has spread to his liver. Emil has been undergoing chemotherapy the last four months and is no longer able to do his day to day work. As such, he’s stepping away to focus on his treatment and his family.   Along those lines, with all the uncertainty ahead, the one thing weighing most heavily on Emil is the impact all this will have on his family. Nothing is more important to him. In honor of industry giant and my close personal friend, this year’s playoff contest is in memory of Mike Tagliere from Fantasy Pros. As you all know, the fantasy industry was dealt a devastating blow in September when we lost one of the most genuine people and finest football analysts ever in Mike Tagliere. I knew Mike for over a decade and had the privilege to work together with him on multiple occasions. Mike truly was a craftsman, who loved this industry and considered himself truly blessed to be able to do this for a living. My personal relationship with Mike goes back over a decade and we became real friends. I had the pleasure to meet him and his wife, Tabbie, in Dallas and consider that experience one of my finest memories in my dozen years of providing fantasy football content. Mike made an impact on thousands of people, who he helped, entertained, and impacted in a positive manner for many years. You simply will not read a negative opinion of Mike because there aren’t any. His positive impact on the industry is still felt today and we wanted to do a little something to give back and honor the memory of one of the finest human beings I’ve ever known.
