NFL Training Camp Update August 16

Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Tom Brady

At this point into August, fantasy-relevant news is flying in daily. Staying informed is crucial and our NFL Training Camp Update August 16 will help you stay informed. Also, FullTime Fantasy’s training camp battles to watch for both the AFC and NFC are also a  good starting point for staying up-to-date on fantasy-relevant news. It’s also important to keep an eye on those 2022 fantasy football deep sleepers this summer. Let’s get into the breaking news that fantasy managers need to know heading into the second half of August.   Zach Wilson injures knee but escapes disaster Jets starting quarterback Zach Wilson went down with a non-contact injury in the Jets’ preseason game. What was speculated to be a potentially torn ACL turned out to be just a bruise and torn meniscus. This will cost him up to four weeks and his Week 1 status is now in question. It’s not nearly as bad as it could have been. However, Wilson playing could actually be worse for the Jets’ offensive weapons fantasy value this year. He is a bottom-of-the-barrel option, especially if his rushing ability is now hindered.   Devonta Smith returns to practice After missing about two weeks with a groin injury, Smith has returned to Eagles’ practice. A.J. Brown separated himself as the clear WR1 in Philly during his absence. Smith should serve as the clear WR2 this season and could look to carve out a role as the 1b to Browns’ 1a.   Kadarius Toney suffers a setback with his knee injury The uber-athletic, but oft-injured Giants’ wideout will be sidelined for a while after injuring his knee this week in practice. Originally only expected to miss a few days, Toney is now expected to miss at least a week. The talent isn’t a question with him, but the injury concerns are real. Jump in one of our real-money drafts at the FFWC tonight! $25 and $50 options, Slow Drafts, BestBall, Superflex and more. Our LIVE drafts in Las Vegas are only TWENTY FOUR SLEEPS away! There’s still time to join us! Geno Smith starts for the Seahawks Smith got the start in the Seahawks’ first preseason game and played the entire first half. Drew Lock came in and played the second half. It appears that Smith has a leg up on the starting job for Seattle. This is most likely good news for the Seahawks’ pass-catchers although neither option is ideal.   Baker Mayfield gets the start over Sam Darnold Everyone expects Mayfield to be the starter in Carolina, but the team insists he’s not a lock so we are forced to report on it. Mayfield got the start over Darnold and played one series. It would be truly shocking in Mayfield isn’t the Week 1 starter. Darnold somehow winning the job would be a disaster for the Panthers’ offense.   Isiah Pacheco gets reps for the Chiefs before Ronald Jones Clyde Edwards-Helaire got the start in the Chiefs’ preseason opener, however, it’s notable the second backup was the rookie Pacheco and not Rojo or even Jerick McKinnon. Pacheco has been a star at training camp and that has translated to the preseason. He may be the top handcuff or more in Kansas City.   Trey Lance lights it up in the preseason opener Generally, stat lines are irrelevant for relevant players in preseason, but with plenty of question marks surrounding Lance, this was a confidence-building performance for his fantasy owners. He went 4 for 5 for 92 yards and connected with rookie Danny Gray for a 76-yard touchdown bomb. There are still questions surrounding Lance but this was a step towards answering some of them.   Drake London suffers a knee injury  Stud rookie wideout London went down in the Falcons’ preseason opener with a knee injury. While it initially looked pretty bad it appears he avoided any serious injury. This is something to monitor but it looks like he should be good to go to start the season. Get the Award-Winning #1 Ranked Cheatsheet in the country before your big fantasy drafts! Updated daily. Miles Sanders is struggling to catch passes in camp According to The Athletic’s Bo Wulf, Sanders continues to regress as a pass-catcher and continues to “fight the ball at times” in the receiving game. It looks like his workload could take a hit due to his struggles as a pass-catcher. This could lead to more snaps and touches for fellow back Kenneth Gainwell. The third man in the RB trio Boston Scott suffered a concussion last week and has been sidelined.   Zach Ertz has been sidelined with a calf injury  Ertz has been out with a calf injury since August 4. There isn’t much information on the matter besides that, but it’s a situation worth monitoring. Calves can be tricky injuries and are prone to lingering and re-injury. However, as of now, there is no reason to believe his Week 1 status is in jeopardy.   Cam Akers and Darrell Henderson are splitting snaps  Reports out of Los Angeles are that Akers and Henderson are splitting touches evenly at camp. Akers is still the favorite to pull away with the starting job, but this could be a full-blown committee. Especially early in the season. Akers is a favorite of many fantasy owners, nonetheless, he is far from a lock to be a bell-cow back or return to form pre-Achilles injury.   Ameer Abdulah acting as third-down back According to SI’s Albert Breer, Abdulah is expected to play the “James White role” in Josh McDaniels’ offense for the Raiders. This is just another bad sign for the workload of Josh Jacobs this season. All signs point to Jacobs seeing fewer touches this season as part of a committee and his time in Vegas coming to end following this season.   Rashaad Penny is sidelined with a groin injury The oft-injured running back is missing camp in Seattle due to a groin injury. To make matters worse for Penny, head coach

NFL Training Camp Update August 9

Matthew Stafford Rams

Now into the second week of August, fantasy football draft day is rapidly approaching. Staying informed with the latest NFL Training Camp Update August 9 is a crucial part of draft prep. Our training camp battles to watch for both the AFC and NFC are also a  good starting point for staying up-to-date on fantasy-relevant news. It’s also important to keep an eye on those 2022 fantasy football deep sleepers this summer. Here are some of the important news items we’re monitoring this second week of August. Odell Beckham to Miss Half the Season? Odell Beckham is not expected to sign with a team any time soon after tearing his ACL for the second time in the Super Bowl. Fantasy managers shouldn’t be drafting him expecting to get a steal. The best-case scenario is that he returns around Thanksgiving. Historically a second ACL tear is a 12-15 month recovery. There is a chance we don’t see him this year or at the very least don’t see him close to 100%. Kareem Hunt Requests Trade Browns’ RB Hunt has been sitting out of team drills at training camp due to discontent with his current contract. He has requested a trade out of Cleveland. However, the team has fined him for not practicing and informed him they have no intentions of trading him. This is a situation to watch. Hunt being traded could have a massive impact on both his and Nick Chubb’s value. For the time being it looks like he’ll be staying put in Cleveland though. Matthew Stafford’s Elbow Injury Stafford has been dealing with an elbow injury described as “tricky” by his head coach Sean McVay. The team has said it’s an injury more common in baseball than football and is a matter of pain management. To this point, it hasn’t impacted his ability to throw the ball, however, it is a situation to take into consideration if drafting him this year. This is a non-issue until it becomes an issue. This adds risk to the Super Bowl-winning QB’s value in 2022. N’Keal Harry Suffers an Ankle Injury Harry went down with an ankle injury that appears to be severe at Bears’ camp on Saturday. He has been competing for the WR2 job in a wide-open WR corps. This could not only cost him time but it’s possible it cost him his job. The WR2 job in Chicago is something to watch leading up to the season. Adam Thielen Will Remain Red-Zone Threat According to ESPN’s Kevin Seifert, the new coaching staff for the Vikings has “embraced” Adam Theilen in the red zone. This is good news for the veteran wideout. Most of his value over the past few seasons has come from touchdowns. He’s no longer a guy that’s going to pile up catches and yards but has a knack for finding the end zone and posting boom weeks because of it. Dameon Pierce is Houston’s Best RB All reports out of Houston point to Pierce being the best running back on the field. He has a real shot to be the Week 1 starter in Houston and perhaps be an every-down back. Pierce could far exceed his RB38 ADP if the team decides to make him a feature back. It wouldn’t be shocking if he emerged as a viable flex option or even an RB2 in 2022. Rookie RB Isiah Pacheco Turning Heads With Clyde Edwards-Helaire limited at Chiefs’ practice, Pacheco has been splitting first-team reps with Ronald Jones. Both CEH and Jones have struggled to establish themselves as legitimate NFL starters so it’s not out of the realm of possibilities that Pacheco can wrestle away the starting job from them this season. I wouldn’t expect him to have a major impact early, nonetheless, he could have fantasy relevance as we get later in the season. Nico Collins is the “Clear” WR2 in Houston According to ESPN’s DJ Bien-Aime, sophomore Nico Collins has been extremely impressive at camp and has a stranglehold on the WR2 job. A popular dynasty asset last year, Collins could begin to emerge this season as a valuable fantasy commodity. He’s been described as uncoverable this summer. Kenny Pickett is Third on the Steelers’ Depth Chart Pickett will start the preseason as the QB3 on the Steelers depth chart. This doesn’t appear to be a case of the coaching staff trying to make the rookie earn it either. He is operating as the QB3 in practice. If you are investing in a Steelers quarterback for redraft leagues this season, Mitchell Trubisky is the clear-cut QB to select. Romeo Doubs Drawing Massive Praise After every practice at Packers’ camp, we’ve heard the same thing, that Romeo Doubs has been the star pass-catcher. With fellow rookie Christian Watson out with an injury and the rest of the WR corps being underwhelming, there is a real chance Doubs emerges as the WR2 in Green Bay which could lead to him having a ton of value. He has as good a chance as any pass-catcher to be Aaron Rodgers’s top target this season. Elijah Mitchell is Operating as the Clear RB1 for the 49ers There has been a lot of speculation regarding the 49ers’ backfield this offseason. However, the team has been utilizing him as the clear RB1 in practice and he’s looked like the most talented back on the field. The belief around San Francisco is that as long as he can stay healthy, Mitchell will be the top guy in San Francisco’s backfield this season. Chicago to Utilize a Committee Backfield? Khalil Herbert has been getting a lot of first-team reps at camp and it sounds like the new regime is looking for a split backfield this year which is bad news for David Montgomery managers as his value comes primarily from his abundant workload. Oddly, Montgomery has also gotten some special team reps. This could lead to Herbert being more than a handcuff and having some standalone value as well. Chris Godwin Returns

NFL Training Camp Update

Michael Thomas fantasy football

The calendar now reads August and the excitement about the 2022 fantasy football season is palpable. The preseason is right around the corner which means it’s time for an NFL training camp update. Our training camp battles to watch for both the AFC and NFC are a good starting point for staying up-to-date on crucial news. It’s also important to keep an eye on those 2022 fantasy football deep sleepers this summer. Here are the fantasy-relevant training camp update notes for fantasy football fans to be aware of this week. Ezekiel Elliott to be Focus Cowboys owner Jerry Jones came out this week insisting that Ezekiel Elliott would be the focal point of the team’s run game in 2022. He added there was “room for  [Tony] Pollard” but clearly he wants this coaching staff to get his money’s worth out of Elliott. We could see heavy usage from him this season now that he’s fully healthy.  Travis Etienne Turning Heads According to John Shipley of Sports Illustrated, the young back has been the offensive star for the Jaguars thus far and is living up to his billing. After missing his rookie campaign with a foot injury, Etienne looks primed to explode this season. If we keep hearing reports like this his ADP is going to skyrocket. If these reports are accurate he’s probably worth paying up for. Etienne was also a topic on the latest FullTime Fantasy Podcast with our own Jody Smith and reigning FantasyPro’s No. 1 draft ranker Billy Muzio. Tyler Allgeier Could Win Starting Gig According to The Athletic’s Josh Kendall,  Tyler Allgeier has a strong chance of winning the starting running back job in Atlanta. He just has to show in camp what he showed in college. If this is true it significantly increases his value and hurts Cordarrelle Patterson’s value. More importantly, dynasty owners need to take notice because his long-term value looks solid.  J.K. Dobbins Not Practicing Coming off a torn ACL last preseason, Dobbins has been asking to get on the practice field. However, the Ravens aren’t willing to take that risk just yet. The hope is that Baltimore is just being overly cautious with their potential young star. The fact that he wants to practice is a good sign that he’ll be ready to go in Week 1. For now, Gus Edwards continues to look like a solid late-round investment.  Editor’s Note: John Harbaugh indicated that Gus Edwards is already questionable for Week 1 and appears to be behind Dobbins in rehab. That’s better news for Dobbins, who indicated he feels great. The club also signed Corey Clement, so the prudent thing to do here might be to simply avoid this backfield altogether. Isaiah McKenzie Winning Slot Receiver Role With Jamison Crowder sidelined with soreness, Isaiah McKenzie has gotten a chance to start in the slot at camp. According to the Athletic’s Joe Buscaglia, he’s been a “standout” every day at camp. It appears Gabriel Davis is locked in as the WR2 and McKenzie has a shot to steal Crowder’s job and replace Cole Beasley in the Bills’ passing attack. A role we’ve seen has a ton of value for fantasy owners.  Baker Mayfield and Sam Darnold Splitting First-Team Reps This is unreasonably dumb to me because there is nothing that can convince me Baker won’t be the starter in Carolina Week 1. However, I do have to acknowledge that this is allegedly an open competition and fantasy owners need to consider the possibility that Darnold could win the job when drafting any players in the Panthers’ offense.  John Metchie III Expected to Miss 2022 After Leukemia Diagnosis In sad news, Texans’ rookie wideout John Metchie is expected to miss the entire season after being diagnosed with leukemia. The good news is that it is treatable and he does plan to resume his NFL career once he recovers. There is even an outside he plays this year. More importantly, however, is that he gets healthy first. Our thoughts are with Metchie.  Raiders to Deploy Committee Backfield? Early buzz out of Vegas is that the new regime will look to use a full-blown committee out of the backfield. Josh McDaniels who came over from New England is likely to deploy the same fantasy nightmare at running back that he did with the Pats. This is terrible news for Josh Jacobs’ fantasy value. Between this news and the team already declining his option for next season, the writing is on the wall for him to be a bust this year.  Editor’s Note: If the first preseason game is an indicator, Jacobs still has a firm grasp of lead-back duties. Jacobs got a ton of touches in that game versus the Jags. Ameer Abdullah also managed to score. We’ll keep an eye on this but might boost Jacobs a spot or two. Allen Robinson Wows The Rams coaches haven’t stopped gushing about Allen Robinson since camp started. There have been nothing but overly positive reviews. His downfall appears to have been vastly overstated and the team believes he is in line for a massive bounce-back season. I expect his ADP to continue to climb this summer. Those glory days of Robinson’s ADP being in the 40s are long gone.  Miami’s Passing Attack Clicking All reports out of Miami have been positive in regards to the Dolphins’ new and anticipated to be improved passing attack. This was highlighted by a 65-yard touchdown catch by Tyreek Hill that traveled about 55 yards through the air on a rope and hit him in stride. QB Tua Tagovailoa has looked good while Hill and Jaylen Waddle have looked uncoverable. There is a chance a lot of players in the Dolphins’ offense outperform their ADP if camp translates into regular-season games.  Mac Jones Has Shown “Dramatic” Improvement According to head coach Bill Belichick, second-year quarterback Mac Jones has improved significantly from last season. This is fantastic news for the entire Patriots’ offense, especially the receiving options. Jones is still little more

Fantasy Football News & Notes

Michael Pittman

It might only be the beginning of summer but there are plenty of fantasy football news & notes brewing. Staying up-to-date on these happenings is an important part of being prepared. Our customizable 2022 fantasy football rankings are constantly being updated as news breaks on and off the field. The FullTime Fantasy Podcast is also an integral part of the process. Here are some of the current NFL happening that the well-informed fantasy football fan should be aware of this week. 2022 Fantasy Football Rankings Update Our initial rankings have been published for a while but part of maintaining solid projections is constant updates. Be assured that this is part of the process, as the FullTime staff is in constant communication and working together to present the most accurate rankings available anywhere. Here are some of the big movers in our projections from early July and other fantasy-relevant news & notes. Quarterbacks Baker Mayfield (Carolina Panthers) – The Panthers sent a conditional fifth-round pick to Cleveland for the disgruntled former starter. This is a great deal all around for both squads, but especially for Carolina. Mayfield now comes in as our QB16 while Sam Darnold has been relegated back to anonymity. Mayfield is a significant upgrade for all of Carolina’s receivers. Especially Rashard Higgins, who had a solid rapport with Baker in Cleveland. D.J Moore is now right outside WR1 territory. Dak Prescott (Dallas Cowboys) – We’ve been 2-3 spots higher on Prescott than the general consensus. Prescott had his best season as a passer in 2021 and finished as the overall No. 7 QB. That production came with his worst showing on the ground- running for a career-low 146 yards and one score. A year removed from surgery and reportedly in the best shape of his life, Prescott should contend for top-5 fantasy numbers. Deshaun Watson (Cleveland Browns) – It is almost certain that Watson will be suspended for a minimum of one year, so he’s been removed from our projections. Jacoby Brissett is now Cleveland’s presumptive starter but that’s a downgrade for most of the Browns’ pass catchers. Jameis Winston (New Orleans Saints) – Winston was able to make some throws without a brace on his injured knee this week. While that is an encouraging development, Winston continues to be a big fade for me. Check out the FullTime Fantasy Podcast for some of my reasons why I’m avoiding the Saints’ signal-caller in 2022. Running Backs Alvin Kamara (New Orleans Saints) – Pro Football Talk indicated that the Saints are expecting a suspension of “at least” six games for their star running back. Kamara was arrested and faces charges in an assault case from this year’s Pro Bowl. The hearing was moved to August 1st, so we may have more clarity before the draft season really kicks off. for now, Kamara looks like a fade, while Mark Ingram could be poised to be an excellent late-round target. Cam Akers (Los Angeles Rams) – Akers continues to be a guy I’m fading because I just don’t see him producing many touchdowns with his minimal red-zone contributions. He also looked awful in the postseason. Granted, he’ll be healthier entering 2022, but the addition of WR Allen Robinson and RB Kyren Williams are also factors. I’m very interested to see how many looks Williams gets this summer and to see if Sean McVay gives Akers those valuable red-zone looks. For now, I’m approaching with extreme caution. Ronald Jones (Kansas City Chiefs) – There was a report that Jones is a legitimate contender to lead the Cheifs in carries but we remain skeptical. Jones didn’t attract much attention on the open market and had to settle for a one-year deal with the Chiefs. Part of the problem is that Jones is prone to mistakes, fumbles, and is a poor receiver. That doesn’t sound like the kind of back that will thrive in Andy Reid’s system. For now, we expect Reid to employ a frustrating committee that will be led by Clyde Edwards-Helaire. I suppose there is little downside to targeting Jones at his current ADP but he remains pretty low for now until we see how things shake out in August. Wide Receivers Mike Evans (Tampa Bay Buccaneers) – It is looking more likely that Chris Godwin is going to open the season on the PUP list. Then, TE Rob Gronkowski announced his retirement. That means Evan, who has caught 27 touchdowns from QB Tom Brady in the past two seasons, is poised to see an even larger target share. Evans now comes in as our WR5, while Davante Adams slides down to WR7. Michael Pittman (Indianapolis Colts) – With some adjustments, Pittman has moved into our top 10. Last year, Pittman ran the third-highest route rate of any wideout and boasted an impressive 1.95 yards per route run. Plus, the addition of QB Matt Ryan can’t be understated. From 2008-2020, the No. 1 receiver in a Ryan-led offense averaged over 159 targets. Pittman checks all the boxes to be this season’s third-year WR breakout, and we’re all-in. Jaylen Waddle (Miami Dolphins) – I’m interested to see how the Dolphins divide up targets this summer. For now, I’m cool on Waddle because I don’t see any way that QB Tua Tagovailoa can support a pair of WR2s. Miami brought in Tyreek Hill and Cedrick Wilson who combined to command some 221 targets in 2021. Additionally, the club signed RB Chase Edmonds to take more ‘safety valve’ targets away from Waddle. I was impressed with Waddle’s rookie campaign, but with it being some volume-driven, I’m skeptical if he can repeat it. Rondale Moore (Arizona Cardinals) – Math indicated I’m back for another run at my boy Rondale. The formula Christian Kirk + the league’s 8th-highest slot rate – DeAndre Hopkins for 6 games = Moore sophomore breakout. TIL there are a significant portion of fantasy football leagues that didn’t have Rondale Moore rostered in Week 2 and I’m all kinds of hurt/bitter/concerned. Fantasy Football Injury Report

If you’re reading a fantasy football injury report ahead of Week 15, that means you made the playoffs. Congratulations on a successful season. Now, we must navigate a troubling dearth of injuries being worsened by the growing list of COVID cases running rampant. The timing is awful but there are things that fantasy managers can do to help their teams move on one more week. Here are the key fantasy-relevant injuries to be aware of in Week 15 Lamar Jackson (QB) Baltimore Ravens – Jackson was felled by an ankle injury early in the second quarter and carted off the field. Early diagnosis says Jackson, fortunately, did not suffer a high-ankle sprain and may not miss any time. However, if Jackson suits up, he could be physically limited which would be a severe blow to his fantasy upside. Jackson is the top rushing QB in the football but forced to rely on just his arm and Jackson is reduced to a middling QB2 facing a solid Green Bay secondary. Aaron Rodgers (QB) Green Bay Packers – Despite another brilliant outing against the team he owns, Rodgers reportedly had a setback with his toe and could be further limited moving forward. It was said that Rodgers could be sidelined at any time if his foot were to get stepped on. This is troubling but as long as Rodgers is active, he’s a locked-in QB1, but one that comes with quite a bit of risk. Josh Allen (QB) Buffalo Bills – After Buffalo’s overtime loss in Tampa, Allen addressed the media in a walking boot, which raised some big concerns. Tuesday, Allen’s injury was labeled a minor case of turf toe that isn’t expected to have any impact on this week’s must-win date with the fading Panthers. He might run less, but Allen is still a top-10 weekly option as long as he’s active. Austin Ekeler (RB) Los Angeles Chargers – Fantasy football’s overall RB2, Ekeler was limited by an ankle injury last week and held out of practice Monday. However, the Chargers play Thursday so the day off wasn’t unexpected, and by all indications from Brandon Staley, the injury isn’t expected to affect Ekeler’s Week 15 availability. DeAndre Hopkins (WR) Arizona Cardinals – Nuk is expected to undergo an MRI for a leg injury he sustained late in Arizona’s Monday night loss. We’ll update his status as results come in but it isn’t expected to be a serious injury. D’Andre Swift (RB) Detroit Lions – Swift (shoulder) is listed as day-to-day and could be cleared to return this week. If Swift is activated, he is on the RB1/2 line due to his receiving prowess, even if he is eased back into action. We’ll update Swift’s recovery progress this week in Discord. Terry McLaurin (WR) Washington Football Team – McLaurin banged his head on the turf and suffered a concussion in Week 14. McLaurin will have to clear the league’s concussion protocol before he’s able to be activated so we’ll keep an eye on his practice participation throughout the week. Elijah Mitchell (RB) San Francisco 49ers – Mitchell missed Week 14 with a knee injury and a concussion that he somehow managed to play through in Week 13. Neither setback is supposed to be considered serious, so if Mitchell is a full participant in practice by Friday, he’ll be a locked-in RB1 against Atlanta. Darrell Henderson (RB) Los Angeles Rams – On top of a quad injury that has sidelined him for two games, Henderson was placed on the reserve/COVID list. If vaccinated, Henderson could be cleared to suit up in Week 15 but the leg injury is another matter. For now, he’s looking very questionable. Darren Waller (RB) Las Vegas Raiders – Waller (knee) was not at practice on Tuesday, which puts his Week 15 availability very much in doubt. Backup Foster Moreau was also absent with an abdominal ailment. This looks like a situation to avoid Saturday. Chase Edmonds (RB) Arizona Cardinals – Edmonds was activated from IR last week but Kliff Kingsbury elected to keep him out of Monday’s loss. There’s a very good chance that Edmonds will return this week but as well as James Conner has performed as the feature back, it’s fair to wonder what kind of role Edmonds will have. Michael Carter (RB) New York Jets – Absent since suffering a high-ankle sprain in Week 11, Carter is tentatively expected to be activated ahead of New York’s trip to Miami this week. Carter was playing extremely well before getting injured and his three-down ability would provide a much-needed boost to both the Jets and fantasy managers hoping to win in Round 1. Elijah Moore (WR) New York Jets – The rookie sensation was a surprise addition to the team’s short-term IR last week with a quad injury. Moore will miss a minimum of two more games but could be cleared by Week 17 for fantasy managers who have their championships that week. Kareem Hunt (RB) Cleveland Browns – Hunt hurt his ankle early in Cleveland’s win and was unable to return. An MRI revealed no structural damage but Hunt isn’t expected to suit up this week against the Raiders. RB-needy fantasy managers should target D’Ernest Johnson on the waiver wire as a viable replacement. T.J. Hockenson (TE) Detroit Lions – Like teammate D’Andre Swift, Hockenson is listed as “day-to-day” with a hand injury. We’ll base Hockenson’s Week 15 availability on how much practice time he is able to participate in prior to Sunday morning. Tony Pollard (RB) Dallas Cowboys – Pollard missed Week 14 with a torn plantar fascia but is reportedly doing better and could return in Week 15. However, these types of foot injuries can be rather painful and prone to reoccur so it’s possible that Pollard will be limited, even if he’s activated. Fantasy managers might want to prepare to start other options, even if Pollard is cleared. Emmanuel Sanders (WR) Buffalo Bills – Sanders sprained his knee during Buffalo’s Week 14 loss in Tampa and won’t play in Week 15. Gabriel Davis, who led Buffalo’s receiving corps in fantasy points last week

Fantasy Football Injury Report

Dalvin Cook

Week 12 is always a special week on the annual calendar, with a terrific Thursday full of food, family, friends, and football. Unfortunately, 2021’s festivities were marred by a brutal week for injuries that will undoubtedly shake up the NFL and fantasy football landscape. Here are some of the major injuries from Week 12 that fantasy football managers need to be aware of. Christian McCaffrey (RB) Carolina Panthers – Yet another injury felled McCaffrey, who did not touch the ball in the second half of Carolina’s Week 12 loss after hurting his ankle. McCaffrey was seen in a walking boot after the game and word quickly came Monday that McCaffrey’s 2021 season was over. With two years now impacted by major injuries, CMC is no longer the undisputed RB1 in dynasty leagues. For proactive 2021 fantasy managers, Chuba Hubbard now becomes a priority waiver add on the odd chance the rookie is available in your league. Hubbard averaged 12.9 PPR points per game from Weeks 3-8. Dalvin Cook (RB) Minnesota Vikings – Standout Minnesota RB Dalvin Cook tore his labrum and suffered a separated shoulder in the Vikings’ Week 12 loss and is due to miss multiple weeks. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see the Vikings hold Cook out if/when the club is eliminated from the NFC wild-card chase. For now, fantasy managers should probably expect to not have Cook for at least 2-3 weeks. Alexander Mattison now becomes a potential championship-winning difference-maker down the stretch. Deebo Samuel (WR) San Francisco 49ers – Samuel exited San Francisco’s Week 12 victory after injuring his going and is expected to miss at least one game. With the 49ers right back in the playoff mix, they’ll undoubtedly want their star playmaker back as soon as possible but won’t rush Samuel back until the injury is 100%. For now, the best-case scenario seems to hope that Samuel is back in time for the fantasy playoffs, which are now just three weeks away. Alvin Kamara (RB) New Orleans Saints – Listed as questionable with a knee injury that has sidelined him for two games, Kamara was a limited participant in practice but is tentatively expected to return against Dallas on Thursday. Teammate Mark Ingram, who also missed Week 12, was a full participant and will return Week 13. D’Andre Swift (RB) Detroit Lions – Swift was knocked out of Detroit’s Thanksgiving loss early with a shoulder injury and has very little chance of playing in Week 13. We fully expect Jamaal Williams to start and receive a heavy workload at home against Minnesota. Ezekiel Elliott (RB) Dallas Cowboys – Even though Elliott practiced in full on Monday, there is a chance the Cowboys will hold their star running back out this week as they try to work around a minor knee ailment. The current plan is for Tony Pollard to take on more work on a weekly basis but if the club decides to sit Elliott against the Saints, Pollard would be a locked-in RB1. We’ll have a better idea of how the Cowboys’ backfield will shape up on Wednesday. CeeDee Lamb (WR) Dallas Cowboys – Lamb (concussion) was a full participant in practice Monday and will be active for the Cowboys Thursday night battle with New Orleans. Darrell Henderson (RB) Los Angeles Rams – Henderson strained his quad during the Rams Week 12 loss and may be limited throughout the week. The Rams are reeling but a Week 13 date with Jacksonville should right the ship. If Henderson is unable to practice or is ruled out, Sony Michel would be a solid RB2 in Week 13. We’ll monitor Henderson’s health this week and update projections and Discord. Darren Waller (TE) Las Vegas Raiders – Waller hurt his knee in Dallas and is listed as week-to-week. Current expectations are that Waller will miss at least one game, which makes Foster Moreau an intriguing waiver wire add for a matchup with Washington’s leaky secondary. Logan Thomas (TE) Washington Football Team – After a 7-week absence, Thomas returned on Monday and played 79% of Washington’s snaps. There were no setbacks with the hamstring, so Thomas is now a borderline weekly TE1 moving forward. J.D. McKissic (RB) Washington Football Team – After taking a knee to the helmet, McKissic was carted to the locker room in the waning moments of Washington’s Monday night victory. McKissic will almost certainly be in the league’s concussion protocol this week and have to clear multiple steps before being activated, even though his agent tweeted that McKissic was “all good” after the game. Pat Friermuth (TE) Pittsburgh Steelers – Friermuth left Pittsburgh’s blowout loss in Cincinnati with a possible concussion. We’ll monitor Friermuth’s status ahead of Week 13. Randall Cobb (WR) Green Bay Packers – Cobb was having his best game of the season before suffering a groin injury in the second quarter and being ruled out after halftime. Groin injuries have a tendency to reoccur when not given proper time off to heal, so expect Cobb to be sidelined for some time. The Packers are on bye in Week 13, which could help in the recovery timeline. Will Fuller (WR) Miami Dolphins – Still on IR with a broken finger, the oft-injured Fuller will not be activated this week for the Dolphins. Limited to just 65 snaps in two games, Fuller can be dropped from all redraft rosters that may have been holding out hope that December would help make up for a lost 2021 campaign. Curtis Samuel (WR) Washington Football Team – A groin injury has derailed Samuel’s first season in Washington, but the slot receiver returned in Week 12, playing 12 snaps and suffering no setbacks. The club will likely continue to monitor his snap counts but Samuel should see a bigger workload in Las Vegas. Dan Arnold (TE) Jacksonville Jaguars – Arnold sprained his MCL and is expected to miss 4-6 weeks. This effectively ends Arnold’s 2021 fantasy season, so redraft fantasy managers can feel free to cut him from their rosters. James O’Shaughnessy will replace Arnold in Jacksonville’s lineup but offers precious little fantasy upside for

The team will be forced to start Zach Wilson under center… The New Orleans Saints gave Taysom Hill a four-year extension worth $40 to $95 million dependent on what position he plays.   Running Backs After a lackluster showing on Thanksgiving, the Dallas Cowboys are considering giving Ezekiel Elliott “time to heal”. Both missing games and seeing a decreased role are options… Elijah Mitchell will be a game-time call for the San Francisco 49ers this week and seems to be trending in the right direction… Jeremy McNichols will be forced to sit this week out for the Tennessee Titans due to a concussion. The team also waived Adrian Peterson… After somewhat of a breakout in Week 11 for the Atlanta Falcons, Qadree Ollison will be forced to sit out this week due to an illness. Cordarrelle Patterson has practiced in a limited capacity this week and is trending in the right direction for Sunday’s game… Aaron Jones is trending towards being a true game-time decision after getting in limited practices this week… D’Andre Swift was forced out of Thursday’s game and has been diagnosed with a sprained shoulder. He is considered day-to-day… The Cleveland Browns have activated Kareem Hunt off of injured reserve and he is expected to play on Sunday Night Football… The Philadelphia Eagles have ruled out Jodan Howard this week… The Buffalo Bills made Zack Moss a healthy scratch on Thursday night… Michael Carter will miss multiple weeks with an ankle sprain… Rashaad Penny is on the wrong side of questionable for the Seattle Seahawks Monday night matchup… The Houston Texans waived Phillip Lindsay this week and the Miami Dolphins claimed him. Wide Receivers After being forced to sit out the Baltimore Ravens’ Week 11 with quad injury, Marquise Brown despite being listed as questionable is trending in the right direction to return Week 12… The New York Giants have ruled out Sterling Shepard this week and Kadarius Toney is also listed as doubtful… A.J. Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Urban Meyer has hinted Laviska Shenault could slide into his role now… Chase Claypool is playing through a bad case of turf toe for the Pittsburgh Steelers… DeVante Parker is not yet ready to come off of IR… Calvin Ridley is now eligible to return off the reserve/NFI list, but there is no reason to believe a return is imminent… Courtland Sutton inked a four-year $60.8 million extension with the Denver Broncos this week… Amari Cooper missed Thursday’s game due to concussion protocols and Ceedee Lamb missed due to concussion protocols… The Cleveland Browns have ruled out Anthony Schwartz due to a concussion. Tight Ends Darren Waller injured his knee on Thursday but avoided disaster for the Las Vegas Raiders. However, he is expected to miss some time… The New England Patriots have listed both Hunter Henry and Jonnu Smith as questionable this week. Defensive Backs Tre’Davious White (CB) Buffalo Bills White was forced out of the game Thursday night with a knee injury. We do not yet have a diagnosis and we don’t like to speculate. However, gauging by the reaction of the player during the game and the team after this seems likely to be a serious injury. If White was to miss anytime it’s about as big a blow as one of the league’s top pass defenses could take. This situation needs to be monitored as the Bills take on the Pats next Sunday. His absence would be a big boost to all opposing wideouts.    Darius Slay (CB) Philadelphia Eagles Slay has resumed practicing and appears to be on his way to clearing the concussion protocol before Sunday’s NFC East showdown with the Giants. His availability is a huge boost for the Eagles and a big hit to the Giants’ top receiving option whoever that may be. With all the injuries in their WR corps, it looks like Kenny Golladay may be filling that role this week.   Minkah Fitzpatrick (CB) Pittsburgh Steelers

Fantasy Football News & Notes

Kyler Murray

Quarterbacks Kyler Murray will be a true game-time decision this week for the Arizona Cardinals. After practicing this week he appears to be trending in the right direction… Detroit Lions’ starter Jared Goff is officially listed as doubtful for Week 11. Tim Boyle is expected to get the start in his place… Carolina Panthers head coach Matt Rhule says that Cam Newton will take the first snap this week, but P.J. Walker will also likely play… Despite most of his body being injured, Baker Mayfield will start for the Cleveland Browns this week… Joe Flacco will be the New York Jets’ starter this week despite Zach Wilson’s knee being “structurally okay”… Tua Tagovialoa was named the Miami Dolphins Week 11 starter early in the week and is good to go after a full week of practice… Ben Roethlisberger hopes to start for the Pittsburgh Steelers this week and is preparing as if he’ll be out there. He’s yet to be cleared from the Covid protocols… Taysom Hill has been struggling with a foot injury all week and is very questionable to play his hybrid-QB role for the New Orleans Saints this week. Running Backs Chris Carson will undergo surgery on his neck that will end his season and has long-term concerns for his career. Alex Collins is expected to play and start for the Seattle Seahawks as part of a committee… Green Bay Packers starter Aaron Jones will miss at least one week and possibly two after injuring his ankle last Sunday… Saquon Barkley is fully expected to make his return for the New York Giants on Monday Night Football. Devontae Booker only managed to get in a limited practice on Friday and isn’t a lock to play this week… Alvin Kamara has once again been ruled out this week. Ty Montgomery will be sidelined as well. The Saints are expected to activate Tony Jones from injured reserve… Elijah Mitchell is unlikely to play for the San Francisco 49ers this week after being officially listed as doubtful. JaMycal Hasty is also looking unlikely to play… Latavius Murray is expected to return to the Baltimore Ravens’ lineup this week. His role is unclear, but the team did release Le’Veon Bell… Miles Sanders is very questionable this week and is trending towards being a game-time decision for the Philadelphia Eagles… Jamaal Williams is questionable this week and will likely be a game-time decision. Jermar Jefferson has been ruled out… James Robinson is questionable for the Jacksonville Jaguars Week 11 but is expected to suit up… There is no clarity on whether or not Clyde Edwards-Helaire will be activated by the Kansas City Chiefs this week. We will have to follow his status up until game day… The Tennesee Titans have ruled out Jeremy McNichols this week… Nick Chubb and Demetric Felton have been activated off the reserve/Covid list… Cordarrelle Patterson was unable to suit up for the Atalanta Falcons on Thursday Night Football and his status for next week is now unclear.   Wide Receivers Amari Cooper has tested positive for Covid and will miss the Dallas Cowboys Week 11 games as well as their matchup on Thanksgiving… Chase Claypool ended the week off the injury list and looks to be good to go for Sunday… DeAndre Hopkins will miss another game this week and is expected to return after the Cardinals bye… Reports swirled this week that Antonio Brown gave the Tampa Bay Buccaneers a fake vaccination card to avoid Covid protocols and restrictions. He was diagnosed with a grade 2 calf strain. Later in the week, he was seen in a walking boot and then placed on injured reserve. He will now miss at least the next three weeks. The Bucs struggled mightily in the secondary early in the season, but signing Sherman had helped steady the ship in recent weeks. This is another him to that secondary and is a definite boost for Daniel Jones and the Giants’ wideouts this week.    Patrick Peterson (CB) Minnesota Vikings The Vikings have activated Peterson from the IR this week. He had been sidelined with a hamstring injury and this activates his 21-day window to be placed on the active roster. It’s not definite that he’s playing this week, but it seems to look like it’s heading in that

Fantasy Football Injury Report

We escaped what was a savage Week 9 without any major injuries but there were still enough minor ailments that fantasy football managers should take note of. There are also some key contributors who could be nearing a comeback and their status will need to be monitored all week. It’s hard to believe that we are now in double-digit weeks, but we must push forward. Here are the key injuries to be aware of ahead of Week 10 of the 2021 fantasy football season. Week 10 NFL byes: Chicago Bears, Cincinnati Bengals, Houston Texans, New York Giants Kyler Murray (QB) Arizona Cardinals – Murray (ankle) was close to playing last week but the Cardinals elected to proceed with caution. We’ll monitor Murray’s ankle this week but it seems like he should be good to go at home against the Panthers. We might see fewer runs, so expectations should be a bit tempered but as long as Murray is back under center he needs to be started in fantasy lineups. Aaron Rodgers (QB) Green Bay Packers – After the week Rodgers had, fantasy managers should likely proceed with caution. Rodgers missed last week on the reserve/COVID list and isn’t eligible to come off until Saturday. All expectations are that Rodgers will be under center for the Packers but it could be a bumpy week with a lack of practice reps, possibly physical limitations, and distractions from the media. Green Bay’s matchup is great at home versus Seattle, but it would be advisable to proceed with caution, here. Deandre Hopkins (WR) Arizona Cardinals – Still without a game with 90-plus receiving yards all season, the Cardinals rested their star wideout in Week9. Hopkins has been limited by a hamstring injury since Week 7 and the hope is that a full week off to rest will allow Hopkins to get closer to 100%. As long as he’s in the lineup, Nuk needs to be treated as a WR1, even against a solid Carolina secondary. Nick Chubb (RB) Cleveland Browns – Chubb and Demetric Felton both tested positive for COVID-19, leaving D’Ernest Johnson as the only healthy halfback in Cleveland. Since Chubb and Felton are reportedly both vaccinated, they could both still be eligible to play in Week 10 provided they test negative for the virus in consecutive days before Sunday. If Chubb ends up missing Week 10, fire up Johnson as an RB2 in New England. James Robinson (RB) Jacksonville Jaguars – After sitting out Week 9, Robinson is tentatively expected to be back in Jacksonville’s starting lineup in Indianapolis. Robinson took the field during warmups before Week 9 but was quickly ruled out. Provided there are no setbacks and Robinson is able to take his full workload, he’ll be a borderline RB1 against Indy’s shaky defense. Damien Harris (RB) New England Patriots – Harris suffered a head injury in the fourth quarter of New England’s Week 9 victory and did not return. Both Harris and Rhamondre Stevenson were forced from the game, but no details have emerged on the severity of their injuries or if they’re in the league’s protocol, which is unlikely. Chris Carson (RB) Seattle Seahawks – Carson (neck) hasn’t played since Week 4 but is expected to return to practice this week. Pete Carroll listed Carson as day-to-day but Carson will likely be very limited in practice or participate in a ‘no contact’ jersey. Consider Carson very questionable for this week’s trip to Green Bay, but he’s trending in the right direction. David Montgomery (RB) Chicago Bears – It was a bit of a surprise to see Montgomery back on the field after missing a month. The Bears are on bye this week and could have been expected to rest their starting back another two weeks. However, Montgomery absorbed 15 of the club’s 19 RB touches in Monday’s loss and looked just fine. Expect that kind of usage moving forward, as Montgomery looked just fine. Allen Robinson (WR) Chicago Bears – A-Rob reportedly tweaked his hamstring late in Monday’s loss at Pittsburgh. Robinson has been largely invisible in Chicago’s ailing passing attack but started to show a little promise in the second half. We’ll update Robinson’s status in Discord. Corey Davis (WR) New York Jets – Before being felled by a hip injury in Week 7, Davis was averaging seven targets per game for the Jets. With all the positive game scripts the Jets will see, Davis can be a solid WR3/4 once he’s back on the field, which should be this week against the Bills. Latavius Murray (RB) Baltimore Ravens – Murray hasn’t suited up since hurting his ankle in Week 6. With the Ravens traveling to Miami to face a desolate Dolphins squad on short rest, there is likely little chance that Murray will suit up this week. Expect the Ravens to stick with a rotation led by Devonta Freeman with Le’Veon Bell also sprinkled in. Sam Darnold (QB) Carolina Panthers – Darnold has been dealing with a shoulder injury and concussion and has looked awful for a month. Last week was rock bottom for Darnold, who tossed three interceptions and hasn’t thrown for a touchdown since Week 6. Don’t expect things to get much better for the Panthers in Week 10, traveling to Arizona to face the 8-1 Cardinals. Carolina would be better off sitting Darnold at this point for P.J. Walker and fantasy managers would be advised to steer clear, even in Superflex formats. Tua Tagovailoa (QB) Miami Dolphins – A surprising finger injury popped up and kept Tagovailoa out of Miami’s Week 9 victory over Houston. The Dolphins turn around on short rest and host Baltimore on Thursday, so there’s not much time for the second-year signal-caller to get right. However, Tua was able to participate in walkthroughs on Monday. Still, a limited quarterback on short rest isn’t exactly a safe bet, so Tagovailoa should only be considered in Superflex leagues if he’s cleared to play in Week 10. Zach Wilson (QB) New York Jets – Robert Saleh indicated that Wilson (knee) would not return to the lineup until

Being that he’s unvaccinated there is a chance he could also miss next week as well. Jordan Love will get the start in his place. The team also signed Blake Bortles… Dak Prescott looks poised to return this week as the Dallas Cowboys did not list him on their final injury report… Taysom Hill has cleared the concussion protocol and will be active for the New Orleans Saints this week. However, Trevor Siemian has been named the team’s starter for at least one more week… Matthew Stafford ended the week with a DNP due to a back injury but the Los Angeles Rams do expect him to be out there on Sunday… Sam Darnold is struggling with both concussion and shoulder issues. According to Carolina Panthers Head Coach, Matt Rhule both are of equal concern in regards to his availability on Sunday. The team is hopeful he plays but he’s very questionable… Tua Tagovialoa is questionable with a finger injury this week. He seems to be trending in the right direction but we have seen the Miami Dolphins be overly cautious with him in the past… Mike White was forced from Thursday Night Football with a forearm injury in the first quarter and could not return. Josh Johnson came in and finished the game out. It is unclear who will be the starter for the New York Jets next week. White and Zach Wilson both may or may not return to practice this week. This could come down to a choice between Johnson and Joe Flacco… Tyrod Taylor will return to start for the Houston Texans this week. The team did not trade DeShaun Watson at the trade deadline. Running Backs Derrick Henry suffered a Jones fracture in his foot this week and is likely out the remainder of the regular season or very close to it. The Tennessee Titans expect him to return at some point but it’s not a lock he plays again this season. The team has signed Adrian Peterson who is expected to handle the bulk of the early-down work. They also signed D’Onta Foreman and Dontrelle Hilliard… The San Francisco 49ers have listed Elijah Mitchell questionable with a rib injury and he will be a game-time decision. They also activated Jeff Wilson from injured reserve… The Los Angeles Chargers have ruled out Justin Jackson… Kansas City Chiefs HC Andy Reid says that Clyde Edwards-Helaire is still weeks away from returning… The Baltimore Ravens have listed Latavius Murray as doubtful for Week 9… The Jacksonville Jaguars have listed James Robinson as questionable with a heel injury. He is in real danger of sitting this one out and will likely be a game-time call… Christian McCaffrey is questionable this week and has a chance to suit up… The New York Giants will once again be without Saquon Barkley this week after he again failed to practice… The Chicago Bears have activated David Montgomery from IR and activated his 21-day window to return. They hope he will be out there in some capacity on Monday Night Football. Damien Williams left last week’s game with a knee injury and is yet to practice this week. Wide Receivers The Las Vegas Raiders have cut Henry Ruggs after he was in an accident that took the life of a young woman and her dog. Ruggs was believed to be driving 156 miles per hour with a loaded gun in his car and his blood-alcohol level was over twice the legal limit. He has been charged with multiple felonies including but not limited to DUI resulting in death and firearms charges. He faces up to 46 years in prison and his career is more than likely over… Calvin Ridley has informed the Atlanta Falcons he will be leaving the team to deal with his mental health. The team has placed him on the reserve/NFI list and he will miss at least three games. There is no word on when or if he will return to the team… Michael Thomas announced this week he has had another issue with his troublesome ankle and he will not play this season. After re-tooling his contract the Cleveland Browns will waive Odell Beckham on Monday. If not claimed off waivers he will become a free agent… DeAndre Hopkins will be a game-time decision this week…  Michael Gallup has been practicing this week and has a chance to return on Sunday. Amari Cooper and Ceedee Lamb are both listed as questionable as well. Cooper seems likely to play while there is a bit more concern for Lamb… Deebo Samuel is questionable this week with a calf injury and will likely be a game-time decision… Devante Adams and Allen Lazard have been activated from the reserve/Covid list… Darnell Mooney is listed as questionable with a groin injury. We are waiting for more information on his status for his MNF matchup… Despite logging DNPs with a foot injury Robert Woods is expected to play this week. The team also cut DeSean Jackson… The Titans have once again listed A.J. Brown as questionable this week with a knee injury. Julio
