Fuego Steve’s NBA GPP Plays – 1/9/18

NBA GPP Cheat Sheet Prices listed are Fanduel unless otherwise noted. My NBA articles will mostly focus on Fanduel lineup construction since besides center, you need to play two at each position. The players recommended are usually still good plays on DraftKings unless the pricing is drastically different. Also, many players on DraftKings have dual position eligibility or may be listed at a different position. I will try to mention if there is a specific good play on DK based on price or position eligibility. The players listed are in no particular order, as sometimes I am giving choices to help build your lineups at all price points. Point Guard Russell Westbrook – $11800 – Get him in your lineups on this small slate. Goran Dragic – $6500 – Should have good matchup versus the Raptors backups with no Kyle Lowry Shabazz Napier – $4800 – With no Lillard tonight, he will be chalk. It’s good chalk however, probably just pairing him with Westbrook will be popular. Dennis Smith Jr. – $6100 – Been playing well, can use for different roster construction. Value/Punt Plays – Napier $4800, Delon Wright $4800, Fred VanVleet $3600 Shooting Guard CJ McCollum – $7500 – Should have the usage bump with no Lillard. Favorite play at the position. DeMar Derozen – $9300 – The only issue I have is his price. His usage should be through the roof with no Lowry. I may try to squeeze him and McCollum in. Wesley Mathews – $5500 – Position is weak tonight, he’s good price. Value/Punt Plays – Bogdan Bogdanovic $4600, Wayne Ellington $4400, Buddy Hield $4700 Small Forward Harrison Barnes – $6800 – Favorite play at the position. Josh Richardson – $5600 – Find him in a lot of my lineups just due to price. Brandon Ingram – $7000 – Not my favorite, but position is weak as well. Value/Punt Plays – Maurice Harkless $3500, Evan Turner $4000 Power Forward Serge Ibaka – $5900 – Good safe option I think and should get slight usage bump. Aaron Gordon – $8300 – Highest celling at the position. James Johnson – $5700 – Not safe, but good ceiling. Kelly Olynyk is risky but in play as well. Don’t mind Kyle Kuzma $5700 or Zach Randolph $5500 Value/Punt Plays – Larry Nance Jr. $4400, Dwight Powell $4400 not loving the value at the position under $5000. Center Bismack Biyombo – $5600 – Finding him in most of my lineups. Good matchup versus Dallas and the price is right. Hassan Whiteside – $7600 – Highest ceiling at the position if he gets the minutes. Jonas Valanciunas – $5500 – His price is going up along with his play. All centers in the $7100 – $7500 range are viable options. Value/Punt Plays – None
Jaguar Lou’s Top Plays – 1/8/18

Jaguar Lou’s Top Picks for 1/8/2018 If you’re not max entering GPP tournaments, I strongly recommend only playing single entry and 3-5 person leagues. PG Darren Collison – 5,600 FD & 5,600 DK Victor Oladipo has a tough matchup tonight against a Bucks team that has allowed 36.2 FP to opposing shooting guards over their last five games, ranking them in the top 10 percent against defending the shooting guard. Conversely, Milwaukee has severe problems guarding the point guard allowing 73.1 FD points to opposing point guards over their last five. That’s a ridiculous number! Darren Collison has the best matchup of the night at reasonable pricing, lock him in. Other GPP PG Option(s): Dennis Schroder & Steph Curry SG Caris LeVert– 6,100 FD & 5,200 DK With DeMarre Carroll sidelined, Caris LeVert should see extended minutes, shot attempts and overall usage. LeVert could very well be relied on to guard DeMar DeRozan, therefore the minutes should be there. Rondae Hollis Jefferson also sees a huge usage bump with DeMarre Carroll out for tonight’s game. Somewhat of a GPP play because it comes with some risk but with Butler, The Greek Freak, Lebron and Golden State on tonight’s slate, you’ll have to save money somewhere – Solid, talented value play. Other GPP SG Option(s): Klay Thompson & Eric Gordon SF Jimmy Butler – 9,700 FD & 8,400 DK Jimmy Butler should be matching up against Lebron James in a high scoring affair for 25 + minutes, do I have to say any more? Foul trouble slightly concerns me but for a discounted price, in terms of elite players, Jimmy Butler is in a nice spot against a Cavs team that has allowed 56.0 FP to opposing Small Forwards over their last ten, tying them for first worst in the league. Other Small Forward Option(s): Giannis Antetokounmpo & Andre Iguodala PF Rondae Hollis-Jefferson –6,900 FD & 5,800 DK With DeMarre Carroll sidelined, Rondae sees a big usage bump, at his reasonable pricing lock him in – his ceiling and floor is just too high tonight not to roster. Blake Griffin is the best Power Forward play of the night in terms of upside but for his price Rondae Hollis Jefferson is a nice play as well against a Toronto Raptors team that often has troubles with the power forward position. I like pairing Rondae in lineups tonight with Jonas Valanciunas, positive correlations. Other Power Forward Option(s): Blake Griffin, Draymond Green & Anthony Davis (All viable cash plays) C DeAndre Jordan – 8,300 FD & 7,800 DK DeAndre Jordan faces a Hawks team that has led the league over their last five games in fantasy points allowed to opposing Centers at 54.5 PPG. I strongly recommend having either Jordan or Blake Griffin in your lineups tonight (That is if you don’t take both which is completely plausible) as this Clippers team is on one leg. I also expect the Hawks to shoot relatively poorly from the field, so I’m expecting a lot of rebounds for either DeAndre Jordan or Blake Griffin…Or both! Other Center Option(s): Jonas Valanciunas (GPP)
Scouting The NBA – 1/8/18

Plays of the Day Value: Tyrone Wallace is dirt cheap and Jawun Evans isn’t much more expensive as the replacement guards for the Clippers with Milos Teodosic (foot) and Austin Rivers (heel) ruled out tonight. They should both play heavy minutes with a good chance to meet value against the weak Hawks defense. Fade: Chris Paul is seeing more usage with James Harden (hamstring) on the shelf, but not necessarily enough to exceed value at his rising price tag. You could fade him in a matchup against Kris Dunn and the feisty young Bulls. Point Guards Steph Curry – (10,500 DK/9,800 FD) Curry has returned from an ankle injury with a mean streak, as he’s shooting (45-77 FG, 28-52 3PT) while averaging 36 PPG over four appearances and some of those huge lines came while playing limited minutes in blowout wins. The Nuggets, ranked seventh in offensive rating, are capable of keeping pace with the high-scoring Warriors and the fact that they rank 27th in opponents FG shooting (.471%) and cough up the sixth-most APG (24.1) this season bodes well for Curry. Spencer Dinwiddie – (6,100 DK/6,000 FD) Dinwiddie has been reliable for the Nets since D’Angelo Russell (knee) hit the shelf and he’s coming off four consecutive solid games. Now he could see even more usage with DeMarre Carroll (knee) out and Caris LeVert (groin) questionable in a matchup against the Raptors, who are actually playing with a lot of pace right now, which has led to solid offensive production from their opponents. Potential Value Jawun Evans – (4,100 DK/5,100 FD) Evans should start with Milos Teodosic (foot) and Austin Rivers (heel) out for the Clippers. Longshot Kris Dunn – (6,600 DK/7,500 FD) Dunn has flashed tremendous upside in the right matchups and the Rockets play at a blinding pace that’s conducive to DFS goodness. Shooting Guards DeMar DeRozan – (8,800 DK/9,100 FD) DeRozan isn’t all that expensive on DK and it’s easy to pay up for him in a prime matchup against the lowly Nets tonight. Brooklyn gives up the third-most 2PTM (31.9) per game this year and DeRozan hits 14.5 twos per game on solid 51.3 percent shooting. He torched the Nets for 31 points on nearly immaculate 14-of-19 FG shooting in a meeting earlier this year and could find the sledding to be even easier with Caris LeVert (groin) doubtful and DeMarre Carroll (knee) questionable tonight. Tyrone Wallace – (3,600 DK/3,500 FD) Wallace managed 13 points, 3 rebounds and 3 steals over 31 minutes against the fast-paced Warriors on Saturday and draws a more favorable matchup tonight against a Hawks team that ranks 28th in defensive rating and coughs up the sixth-most FPPG (43.44) to opposing SGs this season. With Austin Rivers (heel) and Milos Teodosic (foot) ruled out and Blake Griffin (concussion) questionable, the Clippers will offer a lot of values this evening. Potential Value Delon Wright – (4,500 DK/4,800 FD) Wright has upside on FD due to his ability to pile up defensive stats and he’s a solid play against the weak Nets. Longshot Lou Williams – (7,900 DK/8,300 FD) Williams could shoot until his arm falls off if Griffin is inactive in addition to the Clippers starting backcourt. Small Forwards LeBron James – (11,500 DK/11,400 FD) After demolishing Orlando’s weak defense for 33 points, 10 rebounds, nine assists and six steals on Saturday, the King should have another big game on Monday. The Cavs will need another herculean effort from him on the road against a Wolves team that leads the tough Northwest Division this season. Old foe Jimmy Butler could do a solid job keeping James out of the paint, but LeBron is arguably the best passer in the game and he’ll have plenty of scorers around him with Isaiah Thomas expected to suit up for this potential shootout. Joe Harris – (4,200 DK/3,700 FD) Rondae Hollis-Jefferson ($5.8k, $6.9k) and Allen Crabbe ($4.7k, $4.8k) could offer more upside and more risk with the Nets shorthanded on the wing tonight, but Harris is a good punt play with a decent floor. He was already coming on strong with 56 points and 18 boards over four appearances before producing his first double double with 12 points and 10 boards against the tough Celtics defense on Saturday. Potential Value Taurean Prince – (5,600 DK/5,900 FD) Prince is a solid bet to meet value against an undermanned Clippers team. Longshot Gerald Green – (5,500 DK/5,700 FD) Green is going to get his shots up while playing on the fast-paced Rockets, but his rising price tag makes him a bit riskier. Power Forwards Anthony Davis – (9,700 DK/10,900 FD) Davis has been inconsistent as an option alongside DeMarcus Cousisn and obviously he’s always an injury risk, so he’s best deployed in tournament formats. Tonight’s matchup against the Pistons could become much more favorable for both big men if Andre Drummond (ribs) misses another contest, but Drummond would likely guard Cousins even if active, while The Brow would be free to work against Detroit’s under sized PFs in Anthony Tolliver and Tobias Harris. Domantas Sabonis – (5,300 DK/5,900 FD) While he doesn’t offer enough upside to serve as a strong GPP play, Domantas Sabonis has been as consistent as any forward in the mid-tier price range lately. Even with Victor Oladipo back in the lineup, he went for 22 points over 26 minutes against the Bulls and tonight he’ll face a Bucks team that he burned for 24 points over 32 minutes last Wednesday. Milwaukee ranks dead last in total rebounding and Sabonis is playing well as a stretch 4 or 5 when Myles Turner struggles. Potential Value Montrezl Harrell – (4,300 DK/4,900 FD) Harrell would become a solid value to consider if Blake Griffin is out tonight. Longshot Nikola Mirotic – (5,600 DK/6,500 FD) Mirotic has been up and down lately, but has a chance for a big game against the high-scoring Rockets. Centers
Scouting the NBA – 1/5/18

Plays of the Day Value: Michael Beasley continues to produce for the Knicks with double-digit scoring in four consecutive appearances and he remains cheap on DK ahead of a matchup against an injury-plagued Miami team. Fade: Joel Embiid doesn’t have an injury designation as of yet, but there’s always a chance he sits out tonight’s game after playing 35 minutes on Wednesday. Fade him if you can’t check injury news right up until tip time. Point Guards Kemba Walker – (8,300 DK/8,000 FD) Neither Kemba nor Dwight Howard were needed much down the stretch in a 131-111 victory on Wednesday, but they still both met value. While the Lakers are also struggling after getting blown out by OKC on Wednesday, but could get Lonzo Ball (shoulder) back and will likely have a healthier Brook Lopez (ankle) and Kyle Kuzma (quad) in this contest. Walker averaged 20.8 PPG with a 27.8 percent usage rate over 15 December games and burned the Lakers for a combined 58 points, 13 rebounds and 17 assists while shooting 45.5 percent from the floor over two meetings with the Lakers last season. Terry Rozier – (4,800 DK/4,300 FD) The Celtics would be hard pressed to not give Rozier extended run tonight as he tries to ride his hot streak in a potentially high-scoring matchup with the Wolves. With Jeff Teague (knee) out and Tyus Jones (lips) questionable, the Wolves are shorthanded in the back court, and while Jones should play, he’s been seeing huge minutes with essentially no backup PG and won’t be able to handle Rozier’s energy off the bench, which has led to averages of 15.5 PPG, 5 RPG, 2.7 APG over his last five appearances. Potential Value Ish Smith – (5,800 DK/6,100 FD) Smith should remain reliable with Reggie Jackson (ankle) out indefinitely. Longshot Goran Dragic – (6,600 DK/6,800 FD) Dragic has seen a significant spike in production with Dion Waiters (ankle) out and could be a great GPP play tonight against the Knicks. Shooting Guards Donovan Mitchell – (7,500 DK/7,500 FD) After missing two games with a toe injury, Mitchell’s returned to post 88 points and 16 assists over four appearances. He leads all rookies with a 28.5 percent usage rate and he’ll look to carry the Jazz on the road against a Nuggets team that’s eighth in the NBA in scoring. He only needed to provide 16 points in a blowout win over Denver on Nov. 28 and struggled with foul trouble in a decisive loss to the Nuggets in December, but should put up big numbers if this game remains close down the stretch. Delon Wright – (4,500 DK/4,800 FD) Wright, a third-year man out of Utah, is averaging 13 PPG, 6.25 RPG and 3 STL/BLK per game over his last four appearances, topping out with a career-high performance (25 points, 13 rebounds) over 30 minutes in Chicago on Wednesday. Milwaukee may not seem like an ideal matchup, but the Bucks rank 23rd in defensive rating and are 30th in total rebounding, plus they should sell out to try and stop DeMar DeRozan after he burnt them for 52 points on Monday. Potential Value Wayne Ellington – (4,700 DK/4,900 FD) Ellington is a pure shooter, who comes with some risk, but has also consistently hit value for the shorthanded Heat. Longshot Gary Harris – (6,500 DK/6,800 FD) Harris blew up against the Suns two nights ago and faces a struggling Jazz defense tonight. Small Forwards Kawhi Leonard – (7,600 DK/8,100 FD) Leonard is still on a minutes restriction, but its not as strict as it was a couple weeks ago and he remains reasonably affordable on both main DFS sites. He rested on Wednesday and the Spurs have another B2B set on Sunday-Monday, so Kawhi should get more rest in one of those games and that might allow him to top the 30 minutes he played on Tuesday. With a season-high 25 points on 20 FGA in that contest, Kawhi proved that he can still carry the Spurs offensively and they’ll likely turn back to him after losing to the Sixers with a few starters resting on Wednesday. Michael Beasley – (5,300 DK/6,500 FD) Beasley is crushing it as the lead of the Knicks second unit with a 33.6 percent usage rate to average 1.26 FPs per minute when Kristaps Porzingis, Tim Hardaway Jr. and Enes Kanter are off the floor this season. He’s established a solid floor with double-digit points in four consecutive appearances and should remain the Knicks primary perimeter scorer with Hardaway Jr. (leg) out and Porzingis complaining of fatigue. Miami’s defense takes a hit with James Johnson (ankle) hobbled and even the Spurs’ elite unit couldn’t stop B-Easy from pouring in 20 points on 8-of-14 FG shooting Wednesday. Potential Value Evan Turner – (4,400 DK/4,800 FD) Turner is routinely exceeding value and could see an even bigger boost as an option tonight if Damian Lillard (calf) sits. Longshot Tobias Harris – (6,400 DK/6,200 FD) Harris has been consistent, but underwhelming since torching the Pacers for 30 points last week, and we could see him return to that level against the Sixers. Power Forwards Ben Simmons – (8,600 DK/8,600 FD) Simmons exceeded value with 26 points, five rebounds, four assists and three steals over 32 minutes in a tough matchup against the Spurs Wednesday. Joel Embiid (hand) is always questionable to play and if he sits tonight, Simmons would see an increase in usage against a Pistons team that gives up the most FPPG (43.29) to opposing SFs this season and the second-most APG (4.5) to that position over the last month. Simmons provided good peripheral stats with 22 rebounds and 16 assists over two meetings with Detroit this year and would likely score more if Embiid sits. Trey Lyles – (5,400 DK/6,200 FD) Lyles has emerged from the ranks of punt plays to a consistent value option, as he’s met or exceeded value in 9 of his last 10
Jaguar Lou’s Top Plays – 1/5/18

Jaguar Lou’s Top Picks for 1/5/2018 PG Kyle Lowry – 7,500 FD & 7,300 DK Kyle Lowry faces a Milwaukee Bucks team that has allowed the most FD points in the league to opposing point guards over their last five games. Conversely, Milwaukee is in the top five in the league containing the shooting guard. Toronto is very much a two-man team with Kyle Lowry and DeMar DeRozan. I called DeRozan in Toronto’s last game due to a poor matchup for Lowry, tonight I’m flipping the switch calling a massive game for Kyle Lowry, while DeMar DeRozan struggles in a tough matchup against a Bucks squad that has allowed a mere 33.0 fantasy points to opposing shooting guards over their last five, ranking them 5th best in the league. Other GPP PG Option(s): Kyrie Irving SG Bradley Beal – 8,600 FD & 7,900 DK Bradley Beal has been on fire as of late averaging 58.05 FD points over his last two games. Beal sees a nice matchup tonight against Dillion Brooks and I don’t expect Marcin Gortat or Markieff Morris to score many points considering their matched up against JaMychal Green and Marc Gasol. Washington’s offensive production will have to come from somewhere and John Wall is very much a pass first point guard. This leaves Otto Porter and Bradley Beal. Beal sees the better matchup and comes into this game with more consistent game logs as well as a higher upside. Worth the Price! Other GPP SG Option(s): Wesley Matthews (GPP) SF Giannis Antetokounmpo – 11,000 FD & 10,700 DK Over the last five games the Toronto Raptors have allowed 63.9 FD points to opposing power forwards, Conversely the Raptors have held opposing centers to a league best 23.2 FD points. Considering Valanciunas will not have any hand in guarding The Greek Freak, Giannis will be the superstar that I will be paying up for tonight. Other Small Forward Option(s): Kawai Leonard & T.J. Warren **Both the Jazz and Nuggets have been allowing a ton of points to opposing SF’s, seeing that their playing each other, I recommend having exposure to Ingles and Chandler – One should go off at low ownership and cheap pricing** PF Ersan Ilyasova – 5,900 FD & 5,300 DK The Portland Trail Blazers are allowing a league high 75.0 fantasy points to opposing power forwards over their last five games. Atlanta recently had a slight battle for the starting power forward position with John Collins playing well over a stretch of a time but Ersan has regained the starting role and is clearly the player to benefit from these advantageous DVP the Trail Blazers are exhibiting. Other Power Forward Option(s): Marquese Chriss & John Collins (Hedge off Ersan) C Karl Anthony Towns – 9,200 FD & 9,000 DK Karl Anthony Towns has a great matchup tonight against a Boston team that typically has troubles with the big men. Considering the fact that Jones could potentially be out, in addition to Teague already being out, I’m expecting a large dose of KAT – a staple of consistency for this Timberwolves team, not to mention he has the best matchup of the night against Al Horford. KAT is expensive but worth the price! Other Center Option(s): Dwight Howard & Pau Gasol (GPP)

Scouting the NBA 1/3/18

Plays of the Day Value: Michael Beasley excelled in a tough matchup against the Spurs once again last night and he remains relatively cheap on both main DFS sites ahead of a superior matchup against the Wizards. Fade: Steph Curry shot the lights out in his return from an ankle injury over the weekend but isn’t likely to match that production on a nightly basis since the Warriors have so many elite options to use in what could be a blowout win over the Mavericks tonight. Point Guards Russell Westbrook – (11,700 DK/12,300 FD) Westbrook is averaging 32.7 PPG, 10 RPG and 11.5 APG over his last six appearances and he draws a juicy matchup tonight against his hometown Lakers. He averaged 28 PPG, 12.3 RPG and a whopping 15.3 APG against the Lakers last year, his highest assist total against any team and now he has excellent shooters on the wing to spread the floor along with an improved finisher on the inside in Steven Adams. He’s basically producing on the same level as he was last year, yet he remains significantly more affordable on DK. Chris Paul – (9,600 DK/9,900 FD) With James Harden (hamstring) injured, Chris Paul becomes an obvious play as the maestro of the Rockets elite offense. After The Beard departed a win over the Lakers on Sunday, CP3 went for 28 points and 10 assists over a whopping 42 minutes of run and he’s averaging 1.78 FPs per minute with a 32.8 percent usage rate with Harden off the floor this season. Orlando gives up the most FPPG (50.58) to opposing PGs this season and has been horrible defensively all year. Potential Value Ish Smith – (5,900 DK/6,200 FD) Smith should remain reliable with Reggie Jackson (ankle) out indefinitely. Longshot Tyus Jones – (5,400 DK/6,400 FD) Jones provided underwhelming production in his last outing, but is locked into heavy minutes as the Wolves starting PG. Shooting Guards DeMar DeRozan – (8,300 DK/9,000 FD) Sure, DeRozan will be a popular play after he set a new career high and a franchise record with 52 points on Monday night, but that doesn’t make him a poor play. At this price tag, he could easily meet value against a Bulls team that gives up the ninth-most 2PTM (29.2) per game and ninth-most FPPG (42.48) to opposing SGs this season. DeRozan also showed a deft ability to pass out of double teams in his dismantling of the Bucks two nights ago and that gives him increased upside as a player with a high usage rate and assist rate. Jamal Murray – (6,700 DK/7,300 FD) Murray is on fire right now and his Nuggets will play host to a Suns team that gives up the most PPG (112.4) this season. Phoenix ranks 29th in defensive rating and allows the most PPG (25.08) to opposing SGs, so Murray has a good chance to maintain his averages of 19 PPG and 4.4 APG over his last five outings. He’s shooting a scorching 42 percent from downtown and home this season and could run circles around a Suns team that’s on the second half of a B2B set. Potential Value Gerald Green – (4,100 DK/4,000 FD) Green is worth a punt in tournament formats with James Harden out and the Rockets facing a horrible Magic defense. Longshot Will Barton – (6,500 DK/6,600 FD) Barton also has a chance to blow up against a poor Suns defense tonight. Small Forwards LeBron James – (11,300 DK/11,500 FD) There’s some risk that LeBron won’t play a full slate of minutes on the second half of a B2B set, but he should be motivated to give a full effort in a revenge game against former running mate Kyrie Irving. In a statement game to open the season, LeBron went for 29 points, 16 rebounds and 9 assists against Boston and he’ll likely give a similar effort to assert Cleveland’s continued dominance of the Eastern Conference. Lance Stephenson – (6,500 DK/6,200 FD) The Pacers offense hit a wall with Victor Oladipo (knee) inactive for a third straight game on Sunday, managing just 90 points against Minnesota and Lance Stephenson disappointed as well. Yet he produced 34 points with 24 rebounds over his two previous appearances as a starter and he’s rocking a 23.2 percent usage rate with Dipo off the floor this season, so he’s worth a look as a mid-tier option with some upside against the overrated Bucks defense. Potential Value Kawhi Leonard – (6,700 DK/7,500 FD) Leonard is coming off his best game of the season last night, so he’ll be worth a look as long as he’s active on the second half of a B2B set. Longshot Michael Beasley – (4,800 DK/5,300 FD) Beasley managed to exceed value against the Spurs in a second consecutive matchup with the league’s best defensive team, so he’s definitely worth a look at Washington. Power Forwards Aaron Gordon – (7,800 DK/8,000 FD) Gordon is the main man in Orlando’s offense with Nikola Vucevic (hand) out and he appears to be over the calf injury that limited him last month. He scored 39 points on 22 shots on Saturday and produced 20 points with 12 rebounds while playing 41 minutes on Monday. The athletic young big man is averaging 21.7 PPG and 8.9 RPG at home this season and should be able to meet or exceed value against a fast-paced Rockets team tonight. Domantas Sabonis – (5,100 DK/5,600 FD) Sabonis is probably a safer play than Lance Stephenson as a way to get exposure to the Pacers offense while Oladipo remains out. It’s always worth deploying big men against the Bucks, who simply can’t defend the paint or rebound, but Pacers center Myles Turner has been wildly consistent. Sabonis, meanwhile, is averaging a solid 9.5 PPG and 8.25 RPG over his last four appearances to serve as a good cash game option and he’ll be worth
