Jaguar Lou’s Cash Play’s – 11/14/17

PG Kyrie Irving – 8,500 FD & 8,200 DK Kyrie Irving comes into today’s game labeled as questionable because of an elbow to the face in his last game against the Hornets on November 10th. Irving is expected to play tonight and happens to have a great matchup against the Brooklyn Nets. Kyrie is projected to matchup against Spencer Dinwiddie as D’Angelo Russell is already confirmed out with a knee injury. This injury will be the source for today’s value plays. Dinwiddie also becomes a viable play on such a small slate. Having exposure to various guards for Brooklyn is beneficial tonight – at least one of them should go off without D’Angelo Russell’s high usage in tonight’s game against the Boston Celtics. Remember Jaylen Brown is a shutdown defender, he is currently set to guard Crabbe but continue to monitor. The Boston Celtics are favored by 7 points with a 210 over-under. Other Cash PG Option(s): Kyle Lowry & Spencer Dinwiddie (GPP) SG DeMar DeRozan – 8,100 FD & 8,000 DK On such a small slate you might ask yourself, “Can I afford to fade James Harden?” The Toronto Raptors are the 10th best team in the league at guarding the shoot guard position allowing 44.4 FP/game. Now that doesn’t necessarily answer our question, can we fade Harden? Both Toronto and Houston have been guarding opposing shooting guards well but taking salary into account and the fact that this is a cash write-up, I think playing DeRozan and fading Harden is viable. Controversial but viable. On such a small slate it’s going to be difficult to construct a safe cash game lineup while paying up for Harden, so I have no problem firing up DeMar DeRozan for a $3,000 salary savings. Obviously, DeRozan does not carry the upside Harden does but his 3,000 in salary savings allows for significant flexibility for your lineup construction which is huge for cash games tonight. The Toronto Raptors are underdogs at +6 with a 220 over-under. **If you can find the value and go up to Harden I have no problem doing so, it’s just a question of whether your value play is a safe enough to be considered cash game worthy. Other Cash SG Option(s): James Harden & Caris LeVert (GPP) SF DeMarre Carroll– 6,200 FD & 6,700 DK With D’Angelo Russell confirmed out, DeMarre Carroll should see a huge uptick in usage, shot attempts and minutes played. The Brooklyn Nets must compete tonight and the only way I see them doing so is by relying heavily on DeMarre Carroll, Rondae Hollis Jefferson and Spencer Dinwiddie to run this offense and supply most of their points tonight against a talented Celtics team. Jaylen Brown is a shutdown defender, make sure to stay away from his projected matchup (Allen Crabbe as of now). At reasonable prices of $6,200 on Fan Duel and $6,700 on Draft Kings, DeMarre Carroll is a must play due to his safety and salary on a small three game slate. The Brooklyn Nets are underdogs at + 7 points with a 210 over-under. Other Cash SF Option(s): Jaylen Brown & C.J Miles (Value GPP) PF LaMarcus Aldridge – 8,700 FD & 8,500 DK LaMarcus Aldridge is the easiest lock in my opinion for cash game plays. The San Antonio Spurs don’t have many other offensive options without Kawai Leonard, this is obvious. Even with everyone knowing this, Aldridge has managed to maintain a solid floor while still carrying his usual ceiling. The Spurs are favored by 6 points with a 200 over-under. This is the game that I recommend having the least amount of exposure to, but LaMarcus Aldridge becomes a viable play in the lowest over-under of the night simply due to his high usage in a matchup he should be able to take advantage of. Other Cash PF Option(s): Rondae Hollis Jefferson, Jayson Tatum & Ryan Anderson (GPP) C Al Horford – 7,800 FD & 7,600 DK Al Horford is a great play as he sets to return against the Brooklyn Nets, a team that /simply cannot guard the center position. The Nets are allowing an average of 49.3 FP/game to opposing centers which leads the league. Timofey Mozgov has not been much of a matchup for anybody this season, let alone Al Horford, a talented, three-point shooting center that should have an extremely favorable matchup tonight against the Nets poorly defended paint. If Al Horford ends up getting scratched or is on a minute’s limit, Aron Baynes becomes a viable value play at such low industry salaries. Other Cash Center Option(s): Clint Capella
Scouting the NBA – 11/14/17

Plays of the Day Value: Joe Harris is one of several Nets players who will be asked to step up with D’Angelo Russell on the shelf and he could fly under the radar given his modest production this season. Fade: Al Horford has been great over his past several games and carries a solid floor into a plus matchup against Brooklyn, but the Celtics are balanced enough to score in other ways against the second-worst defense in the league and Horford is far from a sure bet to grab double-digit rebounds. Point Guard Spencer Dinwiddie – (4,800 DK/5,800 FD) Point guard is likely the best position at which to save some salary on this short slate and Dinwiddie leads a troop of values in Nets uniforms with the teams’ leader in scoring and assists, D’Angelo Russell (knee), inactive. The Colorado product will start for Russell and is averaging a solid 0.97 FPs per minute with him off the floor this season. Isaiah Whitehead ($3.6k, $3.9k) figures to see extra run behind Dinwiddie and he posts a 26 percent usage rate with Russell off the floor, but Dinwiddie is by far the more reliable option and worth deploying despite a tough matchup against the Celtics elite defense. Potential Value Dejounte Murray – (4,600 DK/4,400 FD) Murray’s been a very risky play lately, but he matches up well against the Mavericks young backcourt and could exceed value tonight. Longshot Kyrie Irving – (8,200 DK/8,400 FD) Kyrie could be active tonight while wearing a protective mask, and he could torch the Nets weak defense in a fast-paced matchup. Shooting Guard James Harden – (12,300 DK/12,500 FD) At his lofty price tag, it’s tough to fit Harden into a balanced lineup, but it’s also very tough to fade him on a 3-game slate. The Beard is certainly an MVP candidate once again with a league-leading 53% assist rate and 3.2 Win Shares, as he’s orchestrating the Rockets offense with Chris Paul (knee) on the shelf. The Raptors are giving up an above average 40.61 FPPG and 23.42 PPG to opposing SGs this season and Harden averaged 34.5 PPG on 51.3% FG shooting over two meetings with Toronto last year, as if you needed any extra reasons to play him Potential Value Marcus Smart – (6,300 DK/6,200 FD) Smart remains a preferred play on FanDuel, where steals/blocks count for 3 FPs, and he should rack up some turnovers in a matchup against the fast-paced Nets. Longshot DeMar DeRozan – (8,000 DK/8,100 FD) DeRozan should go right back at Harden tonight in a battle of below average defenders. Small Forward DeMarre Carroll – (5,800 DK/6,200 FD) He’s actually the Nets player with the greatest increase in usage rate (+6% to 24.9%) with D’Angelo Russell off the floor this year and Carroll is reasonably priced despite the absence of Brooklyn’s primary option. The “Junkyard Dog,” is a good candidate to produce in what should be a helter skelter matchup between the fast-paced Nets and young and athletic Celtics and he’s been much better at home in averaging 16.3 PPG while shooting 45.5% from downtown over four appearances at Barclays this year. Potential Value Joe Harris– (3,500 DK/3,400 FD) Harris should step up on the wing with D’Angelo Russell out for Brooklyn. Longshot Harrison Barnes – (6,100 DK/6,900 FD) Barnes is a viable play in any format with Kawhi Leonard (quad) out for the Spurs, but beware of a potential blowout. Power Forward LaMarcus Aldridge – (8,500 DK/8,700 FD) While the Spurs (-6) are only slightly favored tonight against a 2-12 Mavs team that ranks 26th in defensive rating, they could win easily on the road. Yet Aldridge should remain a safe play even in a blowout and he has more upside than any other forward on this short slate, as he leads his team with a 27.6 percent usage rate and is posting the best true shooting percentage (.565%) of his career. Dallas gives up the second-most FPPG (52.62) to opposing PFs this season and LMA represents a mismatch for the Mavs under sized front line. Potential Value Trevor Booker – (4,400 DK/4,300 FD) Booker’s appeared limited by a back injury over the past week, but if he’s relatively healthy he’ll be a good bet to produce a double double and exceed value against Boston tonight. Longshot Rondae Hollis-Jefferson – (6,400 DK/7,500 FD) RHJ is far more affordable on DK and worth a look in any format tonight with D’Angelo Russell out and the Nets searching for offense from other sources. Center Clint Capela – (7,100 DK/7,500 FD) Al Horford should be the chalk play tonight, especially if Kyrie Irving remains out, but Capela is a great pivot to consider in any format. The Rockets should put Raptors center Jonas Valanciunas in PnR and run circles around him, leading to plenty of lob dunks for Capela, who has been excellent in playing off double teams of Harden to lead the league in FG shooting (.696%) this season. He’s rolling with 46 points, 44 boards and 8 blocks over his last three appearances and it’s no coincidence that his spike in production has come along with Harden’s eruption. Potential Value Serge Ibaka – (5,200 DK/5,300 FD) If JoVal struggles to defend the Rockets Harden-based attack, Ibaka may wind up playing the bulk of minutes at the 5 for Toronto. Longshot Salah Mejri – (3,300 DK/3,400 FD) Mejri has apparently passed Nerlens Noel on the depth chart and he’s a longshot value to consider tonight against the Spurs.
Fuego Steve’s NBA Cheat Sheet – 11/13/17

NBA GPP Cheat Sheet Prices listed are Fanduel unless otherwise noted. My NBA articles will mostly focus on Fanduel lineup construction since besides center, you need to play two at each position. The players recommended are usually still good plays on DraftKings unless the pricing is drastically different. Also, many players on DraftKings have dual position eligibility or may be listed at a different position. I will try to mention if there is a specific good play on DK based on price or position eligibility. These are my favorite plays at each position and maybe a value play or two. The players listed are in no particular order, as I am giving choices to help build your lineups. With nine games on the slate tonight there are a lot of places we can go. I don’t see any must plays or must not plays. Steph Curry is now doubtful, which bumps up Klay Thompson for me. Shaun Livingston will be popular at only $3100 on Fanduel and $3500 on DK, but is not my favorite play. He may be starting for Curry, but he has a limited ceiling. Maybe more of a cash game play. I think all of the studs are in play, though prefer James and the Freak over the others. Point Guard Lonzo Ball – factoring in price, he is my favorite play of the day at the position Jrue Holiday – I am probably paying in this mid-tier range tonight Dennis Schroder – another in the mid-priced range I like Jeff Teague – see above T.J. McConnell – if you want to pay down, I like his upside Jamal Murray – if he gets the minutes over Mudiay he produces Shooting Guard Klay Thompson – lock if Curry is out Devin Booker – see every other write-up I do Tim Hardaway Jr. – had a down game after a good stretch, going back to him KCP or Jordan Clarkson – both Lakers shooting guards are in play Will Barton – lock if Harris is out again. Would love to get the news early Small Forward Deep position for a change… Evan Fournier – back to the well again Robert Covington – good floor, ceiling slightly limited with other Philly big men Brandon Ingram – feels like I keep recommending the same guys every time Taurean Prince – see above Kevin Durant – if no Curry, he could go for 50 actual points T.J. Warren – if not playing Booker, like hedging with Warren Power Forward Kristaps Porzingas – not sure who can cover him on the Cavs Aaron Gordon – yup, another player you see me list quite a bit Otto Porter – love his ceiling, that’s why I keep recommending Kyle Kuzma and Julius Randle – Randle lower ownership, Kuzma higher ceiling Dario Saric – if paying down, like quite a bit Marqueese Chriss – another good option if paying down Jonathan Simmons – bounce back game tonight Center Karl-Anthony Towns – Utah doesn’t have anyone to cover him with Gobert out Kevin Love – Jaguar Lou’s lock of the night DeAndre Jordan – like him going up against Embid Joel Embid – fantasy pts per min 1.46 is one of the best tonight and in the league Marcin Gortat – only $4900 on Fanduel with good matchup versus the Kings Check out the NBA chat from 6-7 for last minute lineup questions https://dev.fulltimefantasy.com/nba/chat/ JaguarLou and I will be in there to help you
NBA Podcast – 11/13/17
Scouting the NBA 11/13/17

Plays of the Day Value: Luke Babbitt continues to start for the Hawks and he draws a good matchup tonight against his former team in the Pelicans. At close to the minimum price tag on both main DFS sites, he can afford you a lot of flexibility under the salary cap. Fade: Anthony Davis and DeMarcus Cousins have appeal GPP formats as always, but they’re both a bit too expensive to take in a matchup against a Hawks team that’s more vulnerable on the perimeter than down low. Point Guards Damian Lillard – (9,400 DK/9,600 FD) He’s been relatively quiet over his last two games, but Dame could blow up against a familiar foe at home tonight. Denver’s improved defensively, yet still coughs up the third-most 3PTM (11.9) per game at the ninth-highest clip (.380%) this season. Lillard averaged 32 PPG and 7.5 APG while shooting 48.3 percent from the floor over four meetings with the Nuggets last season, his second-highest total against a conference foe. Denver continues to rotate young guards and their best wing defender is questionable tonight in Gary Harris (shoulder), so Dame Dollar is a good bet for production against a unit that’s allowing the sixth-most FPPG (49.06) to opposing PGs this season. Lonzo Ball – (7,300 DK/7,600 FD) While he continues to struggle with his shot, Lonzo should eventually regress to the decent percentages he posted in college and he could start with another good game against the weak Suns defense. Ball produced his best line of the season with 29 points, 11 rebounds and 9 assists over 37 minutes when the Lakers faced the Suns on Oct 20, and that was with athletic PG Eric Bledsoe in the lineup. Now Phoenix is rotating rookie Mike James and the diminutive Tyler Ulis at PG, as the Suns are coughing up the most FPPG (52.56) to that position this year. Potential Value Shelvin Mack – (3,700 DK/4,300 FD) If Elfrid Payton (hamstring) can’t go tonight at Oracle Arena, Mack would be forced into the starting lineup and he could serve as a low-upside punt play. Longshot Ricky Rubio – (7,100 DK/7,500 FD) Rubio faces his old team in Minnesota tonight and it’s plus matchup, while Rudy Gobert (knee) is out indefinitely and that forces more onto Rubio’s plate. Shooting Guards Tim Hardaway Jr. – (6,100 DK/6,000 FD) The fact that Hardaway’s shooting streak came to an end on Saturday, as he hit just 2-of-11 shots from the field against the Kings, puts him in a prime bounce back spot against a Cavs team that ranks 29th in opponents FG shooting and is giving up the highest 3PT percentage (.469%) and most 3PTM per game (13.3) this season. Hardaway had his best game of the season with 34 points, 8 assists and 57 DK points in a win at Cleveland last month and would meet value tonight by producing even half of those totals. Lou Williams – (5,600 DK/5,500 FD) Sweet Lou’s scored in double figures in eight straight games and is averaging 22 PPG over his last four appearances, including a 35-point outburst against the Thunder defense on Friday night. The former Sixers guard faces his old team with Patrick Beverley (knee) and Danilo Gallinari (glute) both questionable tonight after missing the past two games for the Clippers. When those players are off the floor Williams is averaging 1.05 FPs per minute and posting a 28.7 percent usage rate, so he stands to remain productive against a Sixers team that’s giving up the second-most FPPG (44.95) and most PPG (27.5) to opposing SGs this season. Potential Value J.J. Redick – (4,800 DK/5,200 FD) Redick faces his former team tonight, which should give him added motivation on every jump shot. Longshot Devin Booker – (8,000 DK/7,400 FD) The Suns primary scorer, Booker has tons of upside in a matchup against the fast-paced Lakers. Small Forwards T.J. Warren – (6,200 DK/7,100 FD) Fresh off scoring 35 points on efficient 15-of-22 FG shooting in a win over Minnesota on Friday, Warren’s price tag remains essentially unchanged on DK. If he can drop 35 against Jimmy Butler and a legitimate playoff team, he figures to do just fine against a Lakers squad that plays at the fourth-fastest pace in the NBA and has given up the second-most FPPG (42.73) in the NBA over the last two seasons. Warren’s usage rate (26.2%) has skyrocketed this year and his playing time has become much more secure under interim HC Jay Triano. Jonathon Simmons – (4,600 DK/4,400 FD) The Warriors can force teams to put as many athletes as possible on the floor at one time and Simmons matches up well against their so-called “death lineups” as he dropped 20 points and finished a +29 in a stunning route of the Dubs in last year’s season opener. With D.J. Augustin (hamstring) out and Elfrid Payton (hamstring) potentially hobbled or inactive, Simmons could wind up starting for the fast-paced Magic, or at least playing more as a facilitator than placeholder Shelvin Mack. While the Magic (+14.5) may not have a shot to win tonight, Simmons has a decent chance to exceed value as a mid-tier option. Potential Value Luke Babbitt – (3,800 DK/3,400 FD) Babbitt continues to start for the Hawks and draws a good matchup tonight against his former team in the Pelicans. Longshot Kevin Durant – (9,700 DK/10,200 FD) Durant would immediately become close to a must-play if Steph Curry (quad) sits tonight, while Andre Iguodala ($3.7k, $4.0k) would become more of a playable value as well. Power Forwards Kristaps Porzingis – (9,600 DK/9,600 FD) It’s hard to fade the top offensive player going against the Cavs pathetic defense right, and Porzingis is quite obviously the Knicks’ primary option. He’s averaging an absurd 32.4 PPG on 55.3 percent FG shooting with a 37.3 percent usage rate and 22 blocks over 8

Scouting the NBA Friday 11/10/17

Plays of the Day Value: Donovan Mitchell shot extremely poorly for the Jazz on Wednesday but still played 31 minutes and appears locked into a steady role as a rookie. Give him a look as a mid-tier value with a solid floor. Fade: Hassan Whiteside managed to produce a double double against a horrendous Suns defense on Wednesday, but now he faces Rudy Gobert and a stout interior Jazz defense, so he’s not the strongest play given his lackluster effort in recent games. Point Guards Elfrid Payton – (6,900 DK/8,100 FD) Returning to the floor after an eight-game absence, Payton showed little symptoms of a hamstring injury while burning the Knicks for 11 points and 11 assists with a handful of peripheral stats to exceed value by a wide margin over 29 minutes of run. His playing time could increase after getting a taste of game action, yet he’s worth deploying at this price tag on DK regardless of whether he can top 30 minutes in this juicy matchup. Phoenix is giving up the most FPPG (55.51) to opposing PGs this season and the second-most PPG (115.8) overall and Payton is a triple double threat in any fast-paced matchup, while these two teams respectively rank second and sixth in the league in pace of play. Goran Dragic – (6,800 DK/6,700 FD) Perception remains strong surrounding the Jazz defense, but the fact remains that Ricky Rubio is a poor individual defender and that’s led to some weaknesses on the perimeter. Utah’s given up huge lines to Damian Lillard and James Harden this year and while Dragic isn’t on the same level as those superstars, he’s a similar type of playmaker within Miami’s offense. Hassan Whiteside’s been loafing a bit and Dragic has stepped up with a couple of big lines, including a 29-point performance in Phoenix on Wednesday. He scored 27 points with 6 assists in his sole meeting with Utah last year and the matchup has only gotten better. Potential Value Mike James – (5,100 DK/5,400 FD) James remains steady as ever for the Suns and is a great cash game play against fast-paced Orlando. Longshot Eric Bledsoe – (6,000 DK/6,300 FD) Bledsoe could debut for the Bucks tonight at a modest price tag. Shooting Guards Austin Rivers – (5,300 DK/5,900 FD) If Rivers can go tonight, he’ll have a high-volume role with Patrick Beverley (knee) ruled out and Danilo Gallinari (hip) questionable to suit up. He’s posting a usage rate with those players off the floor this season, but is dealing with an ankle injury of his own, so his potential absence might open the floor for Lou Williams to launch a ton of shots and for Blake Griffin to really try and carry the shorthanded Clippers. Yet if Rivers is out there, he’s a good mid-tier option that you can trust a little more after he dropped 24 points in a tough matchup against the Spurs on Wednesday. Donovan Mitchell – (5,200 DK/5,100 FD) The fact that Mitchell shot a ridiculous 3-for-21 from the field and 2-for-11 from long range in a loss to Philadelphia indicates that the coaching staff is willing to stick with their rookie through the ups and downs. That creates a great level of safety for a mid-tier play, who had otherwise routinely exceeded value and still came close at just $4.6k on DraftKings with 17.75 FPs on the worst shooting night of his young career. Give Mitchell a look tonight as you look to build balanced cash game lineups. Potential Value Reggie Bullock – (3,600 DK) Bullock played 33 minutes on Wednesday and would remain a viable low-upside punt play if Stanley Johnson (hip) is inactive tonight. Longshot Lou Williams – (5,200 DK/5,500 FD) Williams is posting a 28% usage rate with Danilo and Pat Bev off the floor for the Clippers, so he’ll be a great GPP play tonight, especially if Austin Rivers seems in danger of sitting out this contest. Small Forwards Giannis Antetokounmpo – (10,500 DK/11,800 FD) DraftKings continues to give users price breaks on big names such as Giannis, who is cheap enough to fit into balanced DK lineups on this full slate. He’s still quite pricey on FD, but A matchup against the Spurs is obviously much less intimidating with Kawhi Leonard (quad) in street clothes, as he was the primary reason Antetokounmpo produce his fewest PPG (11) against any team over two meetings with San Antonio last year. This season the Spurs are outside the top 10 in defensive rating and actually give up the sixth-most RPG (9.22) to opposing SFs with Kawhi out of the lineup. Marcus Morris – (4,600 DK/5,200 FD) With Al Horford (concussion) already ruled out tonight and Jayson Tatum (ankle) unlikely to suit up two days after suffering his injury, the Celtics should be forced to give Morris extended run tonight. While the ball didn’t bounce his way as he only grabbed one rebound over 25 minutes in a win over the Lakers, he was a great source of offense for Boston in the halfcourt, as he dropped 18 points on 7-of-15 FG shooting. Tonight the C’s host a middle Hornets team that features several combo forwards and they’ll need Morris to get into shape quickly due to the circumstances created by those injuries. Potential Value Luke Babbitt – (3,700 DK) Babbitt continues to start for the Hawks and provide solid returns as a punt play. Longshot Wesley Johnson – (3,700 DK/4,600 FD) Johnson draws a tough matchup against OKC but should see plenty of court time with Danilo Gallinari inactive. Power Forwards Blake Griffin – (9,600 DK/9,900 FD) With Patrick Beverley (knee) and Danilo Gallinari (glute) ruled out tonight, the Clippers will need Blake to step up in a big way against the Thunder’s Big Three in Oklahoma City. He’s rocking a whopping 40.3% usage rate (10.8% increase from his usual usage) and
Jaguar Lou’s Cash Game Plays – 11/9/17

PG John Wall – 10,000 FD & 9,500 DK Assuming KCP shuts down Bradley Beal (which I’m expecting), Washington will have to look elsewhere for offensive production. John Wall should have a massive game with a solid floor as he will match up against a Lakers team that is ranked 10th worst in the league allowing 45 FP to opposing point guards. Pair John Wall with Marcin Gortat for the best exposure to this game. Other Cash PG Option(s): Russell Westbrook SG DeMar DeRozan – 7,900 FD & 7,200 DK The New Orleans Pelicans allow the most points in the league to opposing small forwards. This stat is due to Dante Cunningham’s poor efforts on the defensive side of the ball. Cunningham will be guarding DeMar DeRozan tonight. I expect DeRozan to exploit the matchup and run Toronto’s offense for most of the game. DeMar DeRozan is a safe play with upside at a reasonable salary. Other Cash SG Option(s): Buddy Hield (GPP) SF Lebron James – 11,800 FD & 10,800 DK Lebron is a must have at a weak position on a small slate. Despite his high salary, rostering Lebron should pay off considering his expected usage in tonight’s game that has a 229 over-under. Other Cash SF Option(s): Brandon Ingram PF Paul Millsap – 7,200 FD & 6,800 DK Paul Millsap has a solid matchup against Carmelo Anthony – the worst defender in the world. Millsap should be able to exploit Melo’s defensive abilities or lack thereof and carries a solid 30-point floor with a 40+ point ceiling at a reasonable salary around the industry. Other Cash PF Option(s): Ben Simmons & Kyle Kuzma (GPP) C Marcin Gortat – 5,500 FD & 5,600 DK Assuming Beal gets shut down as I mentioned in the John Wall write-up, Gortat has a very favorable matchup against Brook Lopez. Gortat is my favorite play of the day at such a reasonable salary. Cousins obviously has the ceiling but is not easy to fit in your lineup. Other Cash Center Option(s): DeMarcus Cousins
