2025 Las Vegas Raiders Preview Perhaps no team needed a total cultural change as badly as the Las Vegas Raiders. Mission accomplished. Enter first-time general manager John Spytek, the former assistant GM in Tampa and an integral part of Tampa’s top-5 2025 NFL Draft haul. On the sidelines, the Raiders hired a proven coach in Pete Carroll. Collectively, the new regime feels like their rebuild began last season, and 2025 is prime for a new era. Refreshingly, an era of optimism. The first order of business for the club was trading for Carroll’s former quarterback, Geno Smith. Smith quietly threw for a career-best 4,320 yards and a 70.4 percent completion rate in 2024. He will bring much-needed stability to a woefully inadequate position since the franchise released Derek Carr ahead of the 2023 season. Smith is unlikely to post top-10 fantasy numbers with this supporting cast, but he can be a reliable streamer with week-to-week QB upside. No. 6 overall pick Ashton Jeanty profiles as the next great RB1 for years to come. Jeanty is a three-down workhorse with elite tackle-breaking ability, strong contact balance, and superb vision. He led the nation in yards after contact twice, including a record-shattering 1,970 in 2024. And the fit couldn’t have been better. The Raiders had very little depth in the backfield, assuring Jeanty will get all the work he can handle on his compact frame. Instant first-round RB1. WR Jakobi Meyers finished as the WR20 after setting career-best marks in targets (129), receptions (87), and receiving yards (1,027). Meyers once again proved to be a savvy mid-round draft value but remains a WR2 masquerading as a team’s WR1. The 2025 NFL Draft brought more depth to a receiving corps needing a youth infusion. Second-rounder Jack Bech is a favorite of the dynasty football community with sticky hands coming off a Senior Bowl MVP performance. Bech can also be employed all over the field. Fourth-rounder Dont’e Thornton is huge (6-5, 214) and is a dark horse to push Tre Tucker for playing time. Brock Bowers burst onto the scene, breaking the rookie reception record and becoming the second consecutive (after Sam LaPorta) first-year player to lead the tight end position in fantasy scoring. His 153 targets were third in the NFL, and he caught fewer than three balls only once.. And he didn’t just make an impression on fantasy managers, but also on his new signal-caller Smith, who told The Athletic that Bowers “is one of the best tight ends in the league already, and I still think he’s got so much room to improve. A big part of my job is to help him do that.” Bowers was a league winner last season and will be the top-ranked tight end in every format. Fantasy Grade: C QB Smith, Geno, LVR [QB1] Reunited and it feels so good. When the Raiders plucked Pete Carroll out of retirement, one of the first orders of business for Carroll was to engineer a trade for his old quarterback, Geno Smith. Carroll recognized the potential in Smith in Seattle. In two years together, Smith posted QB5 and QB19 numbers. Last year, without Carroll, Smith threw for a career-high 4,320 yards and thrived throwing the ball 20-plus yards, a staple of Raiders’ offenses. Smith brings stability and leadership to a young Las Vegas roster and projects to quietly be a solid QB2. ADVICE: Underrated QB2 who can be a decent streaming option week-to-week. RB Jeanty, Ashton, LVR [RB1] Here are the categories that Ashton Jeanty led in FBS in 2024: attempts (313), rushing yards (2,287), TDs (28), yards after contact (5.42/att.), missed tackles forced (125), first downs (106), and breakaway yards (1,247). These world-class metrics are indicative of how dominant Jeanty was at Boise State and why he’s considered the best incoming rookie rusher since Saquon Barkley. And as luck would have it, Jeanty landed in the perfect spot as Pete Carroll’s next Marshawn Lynch. Jeanty is a three-down workhorse who could lead the league in touches in his first season. ADVICE: Every bit worthy of a first-round selection in every fantasy format. RB Mostert, Raheem, LVR [RB2] ADVICE: Aging veteran won’t see much of a role playing behind Ashton Jeanty. Mostert is relegated to a handcuff role for fantasy managers lucky enough to land Jeanty in Round One. WR Meyers, Jakobi, LVR [WR1] Sleeper Jakobi Meyers was one of fantasy’s unheralded stars last season. Meyers had 10 games with nine or more targets, eclipsed 1,000 receiving yards for the first time, and finished as the WR20 overall. Meyers had the most targets (126) without a drop in the league last season. Since moving to the Raiders, Meyers has run 69.8 percent of his routes from the perimeter after being used inside in New England. However, a new coach, a first-round running back, and added target competition are obstacles that will make repeating those outstanding numbers challenging. ADVICE: Remains an underrated value in the middle rounds who provides a steady source of targets and receptions. WR Bech, Jack, LVR [WR2] Sleeper Jack Bech’s older brother, Tiger Bech, was killed in the New Orleans terrorist attack on New Year’s Eve. Jack, wearing his brother’s No.7 jersey, then won Senior Bowl MVP with a walk-off TD grab. In addition to that inspirational moment, Bech has good size (6-1, 214), sticky hands, outstanding ball tracking skills, and uses leverage well. He had a 62/1,034/9 season at TCU in 2024 that resulted in Second-team All-Big 12 accolades. Bech also landed in a great location with a Raiders’ offense that needed a youth infusion. Bech profiles as a reliable possession receiver. ADVICE: Bech’s hands, ability to create space, and opportunity make him one of the top late-round sleeper wideouts. WR Tucker, Tre, LVR [WR3] ADVICE: Tucker has made strides in each of his two seasons. These NFC West games always bring it. This week looks particularly interesting as both squads can move the ball well and score points.
San Francisco enters this game at 2-3 after a crushing 1-point home loss to the Cardinals. The Niners can pass and run with the best of them. However, their defense has slipped. Returning to 500 won’t be easy on short rest traveling to one of the NFL’s toughest venues.
Meanwhile, the Seahawks had their own letdown here at Lumen Field last Sunday. Seattle’s defense allowed the Giants to rack up 420 yards and 24 first downs in a 29-20 upset. Now, the pressure is on to quickly move on against their hated division rivals.
The opening line for this game was quite surprising, with the Seahawks being 5.5-point underdogs. However, early movement on Seattle has dropped that down to 3.5.

2024 Seattle Seahawks Fantasy Preview Seattle took a step back in 2023 after finishing 11th in total yards (351.5) and 9th in points per game (23.9). They fell to 21st (322.9) in total yards per game and 17th in points
Seattle took a step back in 2023 after finishing 11th in total yards (351.5) and 9th in points per game (23.9). They fell to 21st (322.9) in total yards per game and 17th in points (21.4).
So why the regression? Look no further than Geno Smith’s production. Smith (3,624/20/9) went from the fifth highest-scoring fantasy quarterback in 2022 to dropping to 19th after seeing a decrease of 79 fantasy points from one season to the next. Smith is currently penciled in as the starter entering 2024. However, the Seahawks added insurance in trading for Sam Howell, who was more productive in fantasy, producing 43 more fantasy points than Smith despite turning the ball over 23 times.
DK Metcalf (66/1,114/8) led all Seahawk pass catchers and likely would have finished higher than WR21 if he had caught more than 55% of the targets he had seen. Metcalf retains value heading into 2024, as he was the team’s go-to option in the red zone. Metcalf remains a solid fantasy option with 16 end zone targets (fourth-most among receivers) and a receiving touchdown market share of 38.1% (14th).
Tyler Lockett is also returning for another season after seeing 122 targets last year, resulting in 894 yards and 79 receptions. Lockett’s production on the field led to 202 fantasy points and a WR32 finish, making him an ideal target as your third or fourth receiver.
Expect Jaxon Smith-Njigba (63/628/4) to take a step forward this season after showing signs of a breakout in 2023. Between weeks 7 and 16, the rookie posted a top-40 scoring week in seven of those ten contests, giving him a lovely floor as a flex option. With a current ADP of 105 (WR43), Smith-Njigba is worth a roster spot and if Lockett or Metcalf were to miss time due to injury, then you could have a league-winner on your hands.
At running back, Seattle is expected to use Kenneth Walker (219/905/8) and Zach Charbonnet (108/462/1) as a duo, with Walker again in line for the lion’s share of the touches out of the backfield. Walker should be viewed as an RB2 in fantasy. If either back misses time, the other will certainly have the opportunity to ascend into RB1 status.
Noah Fant (32/414/0) is looking to bounce back from the worst season of his career in yards, receptions, and touchdowns. However, the best may long be behind him at this point.
Quarterbacks
QB GENO SMITH – BYE WEEK FILL-IN
After a career year in 2022, Smith saw a precipitous drop in play last year. The decline of the offensive line played a big part, as Smith was pressured more and had less time to throw. Despite the addition of second-round G Christian Haynes, Seattle’s front-five looks like a bottom-10 unit. Additionally, Seattle will be breaking in a new defensive-minded head coach and an offensive coordinator with no NFL play-calling experience. And there is added competition in the form of Sam Howell. The Seahawks have a solid supporting cast, giving some hope that Smith can rekindle some of the 2022 magic. But with the fourth-lowest win total projection, this is shaping up to be another tough season in Seattle. ADVICE: Low-end QB2.

Fantasy Football Start ‘Em Sit ‘Em Week 8 Last week we avoided some major potholes like Jameson Williams, Justin Herbert, and Hunter Henry. Some of our start options didn’t go as planned, but a full slate without byes brings new opportunities. After scouring the waiver wire and getting the latest injury news, let’s explore the top Fantasy Football Start’ Em Sit’ Em Week 8 options. Week 8 Byes: NONE Quarterbacks Start ‘Em C.J. Stroud (Houston Texans) at Carolina Stroud had been displaying robust performances leading up to the Texans’ Week 7 bye, delivering multiple passing touchdowns in four of his previous five games. He exceeded 20 fantasy points in three of those outings, establishing a base of around 14 fantasy points per game. Nonetheless, this week might mark the pinnacle of his rookie season as he faces the Panthers, who allow 7.6 yards per attempt, ranking sixth-highest in the NFL. Also, the Panthers play mostly cover 3, which is a defense Stroud has consistently beaten all season. Derek Carr (New Orleans Saints) at Indianapolis Could this be the week where Carr achieves his first smash game of the season? His recent performances have just been meh, with three consecutive games yielding at least 18.3 Fantasy points against New England, Houston, and Jacksonville. In two of those games, he amassed over 301 passing yards. Carr has only recorded multiple touchdowns in one game this season. However, this week, he faces the Colts, who have allowed at least two touchdowns to four of seven opposing quarterbacks, with five of them scoring more than 18.2 Fantasy points. Carr should be regarded as a high-end No. 2 fantasy quarterback in all leagues for Week 8. Sit ‘Em Geno Smith (Seattle Seahawks) vs. Cleveland Despite throwing multiple passing touchdowns for just the second time this season, In week 7 Smith managed to accumulate less than 14 fantasy points. In the 2023 campaign, he has exceeded 16 fantasy points on only one occasion. That is a significant drop from his 2022 average of nearly 18 fantasy points per game. Lastly, facing the Browns, who have conceded the fewest passing yards in the NFL this season, and allowed just one passing touchdown per game while restricting QBs to the fifth-lowest fantasy PPG, makes it a wise decision to bench Smith in fantasy. Running Backs Start ‘Em Dameon Pierce (Houston Texans) at Carolina Pierce’s season has been challenging thus far, as he has managed to reach double-digit fantasy points only on two occasions. In his last appearance before the bye, he lost playing time to Devin Singletary. Nevertheless, considering the matchup in Week 8, it’s worth giving him another chance. Singletary doesn’t scare me either and Piece is better than Singletary at everything. The Panthers have surrendered the third-most rushing yards and the highest number of rushing touchdowns, despite having already had their bye week. They concede 5.3 yards per carry, the second-most in the NFL, and particularly struggle against outside runs, allowing the highest yards per carry in the league. Pierce leads Houston in outside carries, making him a viable RB2 or flex option. Jaylen Warren (Pittsburgh Steelers) vs. Jacksonville Warren found the end zone and achieved double-digit fantasy points for the third consecutive game last week, marking the fourth time in his last five outings. Warren serves as the Steelers’ primary pass-catching back, garnering 27 targets, 22 catches, and 165 receiving yards this season, in contrast to Harris’ 12 targets, eight catches, and 52 yards. Also, he significantly outperforms Harris in these categories when the team is trailing. The Steelers may need to play catch-up against the Jaguars, who have allowed the most completions and the fourth-most receiving yards to running backs this season. Warren is a reliable streaming option with a high ceiling this week. Sit ‘Em Javonte Williams (Denver Broncos) vs. Kansas City Williams had a promising performance against the Packers in Week 7, achieving his best game of the season with 12.6 PPR points. However, he only managed 10 carries for 52 yards in Week 6 against Kansas City. And another challenging outing is expected in the upcoming rematch at home. Williams has yet to find the end zone this year and is still sharing touches with Jaleel McLaughlin and Samaje Perine. The Chiefs have allowed just three total touchdowns to running backs this season, and only three running backs have surpassed 9.9 PPR points against Kansas City in seven games. If you can, bench Williams in Week 8. Zack Moss (Indianapolis Colts) vs. New Orleans Moss has delivered four top-10 finishes over a span of five weeks, even with Jonathan Taylor in the picture. In the last two weeks, Moss and Taylor have split the backfield duties evenly, with Taylor showing better performances. Even if the backfield remains a 50/50 split, the matchup against the New Orleans Saints is challenging for both players. The Saints have yielded the fourth-fewest fantasy points to running backs and possess the fifth-best team run-defense grade. They have allowed only three rushing touchdowns, tied for the fifth-fewest among defenses. While the Colts are still expected to win, the combination of limited efficiency and potentially reduced workload makes it unlikely for Moss to provide significant fantasy value. Wide Receivers Start ‘Em Garrett Wilson (New York Jets) at New York Giants The Giants have struggled to contain opposing No. 1 receivers for the majority of the season, and Wilson should be no exception. Since Week 2, Marquise Brown, Deebo Samuel, DK Metcalf, Tyreek Hill, Stefon Diggs, and Terry McLaurin have all had outstanding performances against the Giants’ secondary. Wilson has scored a minimum of 14.4 PPR points in four of his six games this season. Also, he is coming off an impressive game against the Eagles in Week 6, where he recorded eight catches for 90 yards on 12 targets. The Rams come into 2023 with a rebuilding feel, and their star wide receiver (Cooper Kupp) is battling a hamstring injury heading into Week 1. Matthew Stafford is a proven quarterback, but his secondary receiving options are below the league average. Cam Akers played well late last season, giving the fantasy market hope that he will build on his success this year. I see risk in the secondary for Los Angeles, pointing to Seattle throwing the ball well if DE Aaron Donald can’t shorten the passing window.
The Seahawks bring a high foundation of the receiving corps, highlighted by DK Metcalf and the exciting Jaxon Smith-Njigba. Tyler Lockett has an excellent resume despite being on the wrong side of 30. Seattle lines two exciting young running backs – Kenneth Walker and Zach Charbonnet. The biggest question for this team is their defense, which is a win for overall scoring by their offense.

Los Angeles Rams
Matthew Stafford
- Last season, over nine starts, Stafford delivered one playable game (272/3) in the fantasy markets. His completion rate (68.0) was a career-best, but he had a decline in pass attempts per game (33.7 – 35.4) and an increase in his sack percentage (8.7 – 4.8 in 2021).
- In addition, his yards per pass attempt (6.9) declined by 1.2 yards from 2021 (8.1). His year ended after Week 11 with a neck injury.
- With Cooper Kupp trending toward a sit in Week 1, Stafford’s projection will be lowered in the next update.
- The Seahawks ranked 16th in quarterback defense, with one team scoring over 30.00 fantasy points.
- Seattle should score in this game, so a chaser game gives Stafford a chance only if Kupp is a full go.
Cam Akers
- Last season, Akers was a bust in the fantasy market over the first nine games (84/274/1 with two catches for 18 yards) while also missing two games with personal issues (not getting the ball enough).
- From Week 12 to Week 16, he gained 240 combined yards with three touchdowns and five catches.
- The Rams gave Akers a workhorse opportunity over his final three matchups (23/118/3, 19/123, and 21/04 with six combined catches for 63 yards), with the latter coming against Seattle.
- The Seahawks finished 28th in running defense (27.72 FPPG), with five teams scoring more than 35.00 fantasy points.

The 2023 NFL season is right around the corner and that means fantasy football drafts are underway. Geno Smith
Smith had a 13-21 record over his eight years in the NFL after getting drafted in the second round in 2013. He has more interceptions (37) than touchdowns (34). Over his first two seasons, Smith chipped in on the ground (72/366/6 and 59/238/1).
When asked to start in 2021 with Russell Wilson injured, Smith passed 702 yards with five touchdowns and one interception over four games. His completion rate (68.4) was the best of his career while gaining 7.4 yards per pass attempt. He added nine rushes for 42 yards and one score.
Smith handled himself well with the keys to the Seahawks’ offense in 2022. He gained 4,748 combined yards with 31 touchdowns and 11 interceptions while completing 69.8% of his passes. Smith finished fifth in quarterback scoring (361.80) in four-point passing touchdowns leagues. Also, he scored more than 25.00 fantasy points in four games, highlighted by one impact game (369 combined yards with three scores). Smith passed for 300 yards in four matchups (325/2, 320/2, 328/2, and 367/3).
Fantasy Outlook: The Seahawks rewarded him with a three-year deal worth $75 million in March. Seattle has two established top-tier wideouts, an intriguing rookie wide receiver (Jaxon Smith-Njigba), and a viable option at tight end. I’m not a fan of the Seahawks’ offensive line, but Smith has the tools to repeat his success. My starting point is 4,500 combined yards with 30 scores.
Drew Lock
Over three seasons with Denver, Lock went 8-13 with 30 combined touchdowns and 20 interceptions. Teddy Bridgewater beat him out for the starting job in 2021. Also, Lock battled a shoulder issue late in the season.
In his short career, his completion rate (59.3) and yards per pass attempt (6.7) ranked poorly, with some help in the run game (72/285/5). Lock gained over 300 passing yards three times in his 21 career starts.

The Seahawks’ running back gained 2,162 combined yards with 11 touchdowns and 68 catches (20.60 FPPG in PPR formats) last year. They finished with similar touches (425) as in 2021 (420). Their opportunity in the passing game ranked poorly in back-to-back years (59/462/0 and 68/485/1).
Kenneth Walker III
After two quiet seasons at Wake Forest (217/1,158/17 with six catches for 47 yards), Walker pushed his game higher after transferring to Michigan State. He gained 1,725 combined yards with 19 touchdowns and 13 catches in 2021. His best success came in three matchups (23/264/4, 29/233/1, and 23/197/5).
Walker did an excellent job mixing up his run cadence in his final season in college. When asked to fire up the middle, he had the vision and speed to create big plays. At the same time, he would delay his forward motion to help his blockers possibly create running lanes. On some runs, Walker has the quickness and burst to get himself out of jail in tight quarters.
His willingness to retreat on a lost play and reverse direction led to some success at Michigan State, but this thought process could kill some drives in the NFL if Walker takes significant losses. He’s had limited chances in the passing game, but his game may improve in this area over time. However, Walker did get a negative grade in his pass protection skill, pointing to an early-down role early in his career.
After a limited role over the first four games (15/58 with six catches for 14 yards) in his rookie year, Walker shined over the following five weeks (96/512/7 with six catches for 34 yards). He lost momentum from Week 10 to Week 14 (39/126/2 – 3.2 yards per rush with 11 catches for 100 yards) while missing one game with an ankle issue. His season ended with three productive outcomes (26/107, 23/133, and 29/113 with four combined catches for 17 yards).
Fantasy Outlook: Walker finished 18th in running back scoring (203.20 FPPG) in PPR formats while playing well in only half of his games. Seattle added running back depth in the offseason, inviting more competition for touches. His blocking was a liability in 2022, pointing to fewer chances on passing downs this year. On a path for 275 touches for 1,300 yards with 10 touchdowns and 20 catches. Walker ranks 15th at running back in the early draft season.
