Every offseason there is a significant number of players on the move. Keeping track of these trades and free-agent signings is a vital part of fantasy football research. Knowing how players will perform on new teams can give you a huge edge on draft day.

With training camps and preseason still ahead, there is plenty of time to get a feel for how these newcomers will fare in 2023. However, many drafts are already underway. That makes it important to have an understanding of how players will perform on new teams.

Here are the key players who were on the move this offseason and what to expect from a fantasy football perspective.

Quarterbacks

Aaron Rodgers (New York Jets) – There have been glowing reports out of New York that Rodgers has looked terrific. This is obviously great news for a Jets franchise that has long been searching for that franchise signal caller. At 39 and with three years of general decline and an adversarial relationship with the tame media in Wisconsin, it was fair to question if this would be another move that would blow up for the Jets. However, Rodgers attended all team OTAs and had noticeable zip on the ball. A prime Rodgers would be a boon for all members of the Jets. Particularly for future superstar wideout Garrett Wilson.

Derek Carr (New Orleans Saints) – Regardless of address, Carr isn’t going to make or break your fantasy squad. He does a solid job moving the chains and avoiding turnovers but lacks upside. However, Carr can fill in as a solid QB2 in Superflex formats. Carr should prove to be a solid upgrade over Andy Dalton for the Saints. Also, his history of heavily targeting his No. 1 wide receiver should mean big things for emerging star Chris Olave.

Jimmy Garoppolo (Las Vegas Raiders) – Carr’s replacement in Las Vegas is already off to a shaky start. Recent news emerged that Jimmy Garoppolo failed his physical with the Raiders, and now there is uncertainty about his immediate future. At best, Garoppolo can post similar numbers to Derek Carr. However, Garoppolo is even more of a game manager. Plus, it won’t be as easy for Davante Adams to post his usual stellar numbers. Overall, this is a downgrade for…

2023 Free Agent Rankings: Tight Ends

Dalton Schultz

There are lots of arguments for having the NFL Draft take place prior to the start of unrestricted free agency. Similar to the lackluster group of free-agent wideouts, the 2023 Free Agent Rankings: Tight Ends is sorely lacking. However, from a fantasy perspective, it is always good to be prepared for roster turnover. Here are our 2022 free agent rankings: tight ends. Also, check out our 2023 free-agent Quarterback,  Running Back, and Wide Receiver rankings.  Potential Starters PLAYER TEAM AGE REC YDS TD Dalton Schultz DAL 27 57 577 5 Evan Engram JAX 29 73 766 4 Mike Gesicki MIA 28 28 316 5 Irv Smith Jr. MIN 25 25 182 2 Hayden Hurst CIN 30 52 414 2 There aren’t many landing spots for Dalton Schultz that won’t be a downgrade. Schultz has built up a solid rapport with QB Dak Prescott. The result has been three consecutive top-10 fantasy campaigns for the soon-to-be 27-year-old. Should he re-sign with the Cowboys, Schultz remains a solid TE1 with top-5 upside. Evan Engram is annually overlooked. Engram capitalized on his one-year deal with the Jaguars and posted top-5 PPR numbers in 2022. However, it was only Engram’s fourth-best outing from a points-per-game perspective. Should the veteran tight end land with a QB1, expect Engram to be a solid value once again. He should be able to earn about $10 million annually on the open market. Miami’s new offense didn’t do Mike Gesicki any favors. Gesicki posted his worst numbers since his 2018 rookie campaign. As a result, he won’t earn anywhere near the franchise tag deal ($10.9m) he played under in 2022. But in the right offense, Gesicki can still be a solid downfield option. Speaking of forgettable 2022 showings, Irv Smith Jr. spent half the season on IR with an ankle injury. Smith commanded a lot of sleeper interest last offseason. However, the acquisition of T.J. Hockenson assures that Smith will have to play elsewhere. The 24-year-old is just about to enter his prime and can still be a solid fantasy TE2. Let’s call Hayden Hurst a fringe NFL starter. In two of his five seasons, Hurst has been solid. Both of those showings came playing the majority of reps in the first year of a new system. Ideally, re-signing with the Bengals would work best for Hurst’s 2023 prospects. However, Hurst should attract plenty of attention from other NFL squads. He might sign a one-year “prove it” deal but Hooper will have trouble generating top-20 fantasy numbers even if he was a starter. Robert Tonyan will always have that glorious 2020 season. Even in a 2022 Green Bay offense desperate for pass catchers, Tonyan had a career-low 8.9 yards per target and only caught 2 touchdowns. If Tonyan can’t be a reliable option with Aaron Rodgers under center, he is not a player to be targeted on draft day. The sleeper of this group is Foster Moreau. Still just 25, Moreau had seven games with 3-plus grabs and filled in nicely for the injured Darren Waller. Moreau flashed enough to draw some interest around the league as a potential starter. 2023 Free Agent Rankings: Running Backs

Saquon Barkley

As you know, there is no real off-season for fantasy football fanatics. While the NFL playoffs are still in progress, it’s never a bad idea to be prepared for the next season. FullTime Fantasy‘s 2023 Free Agent Rankings: Running Backs previews the top veteran rushers available this spring. There are some stud backs available on the open market. Also, the rise in salary cap should help a handful of these RBs secure lucrative long-term deals. Also, check out our 2023 free-agent QB rankings. Three-Down Studs PLAYER TEAM AGE YDS TD REC YDS REC TD Josh Jacobs LVR 25 1653 12 400 0 Saquon Barkley NYG 26 1312 10 338 0 Tony Pollard DAL 26 1007 9 371 3 David Montgomery CHI 26 801 5 316 1 The Raiders declined to extend Josh Jacobs last season. As a result, Jacobs is now set to cash in big time after leading the league with 1,653 rushing yards. Jacobs showed feature-back skills, also. He set a career-best mark of 400 receiving yards and a dozen scores. Expect Jacobs to attract plenty of attention, perhaps commanding north of $50 million over 4 years. Similar to Jacobs, Saquon Barkley‘s fifth-year option was declined and Barkley finally stayed healthy. The fifth-year veteran rusher posted a career-high 1,312 rushing yards and topped 50 receptions for the third time. New York is fresh off a Wild-Card playoff spot. However, both Barkley and QB Daniel Jones are unrestricted free agents. Of the two, Barkley is more likely to be franchise tagged. But, if he is able to test the market, Barkley could earn between $12 and $15 million annually. The Cowboys are in a difficult predicament. Tony Pollard was the team’s best running back all season. However, the club still owes Ezekiel Elliott over $50 million guaranteed. Elliott is a declining player while Pollard displayed top-5 upside and explosiveness. Elliott has reportedly been open to a restricted deal. That may be the only way Pollard could return to Big D. Should Pollard hit the open market, he’ll have no shortage of suitors as a potential top-tier starter. David Montgomery had the fewest rushing attempts of his career despite playing 16 games. With Khalil Herbert in the fold, Montgomery might be allowed to test the market. The 25-year-old veteran is a dependable receiver and has a 1,000-yard rushing campaign on his resume. Solid Contributors PLAYER TEAM AGE YDS TD REC YDS REC TD Miles Sanders PHI 26 1269 11 78 0 Jamaal Williams DET 28 1066 17 73 0 Damien Harris NE 26 462 3 97 0 Devin Singletary BUF 26 819 5 280 1 Alexander Mattison MIN 25 283 5 91 1 Kareem Hunt CLE 28 455 3 195 1 D’Onta Foreman CAR 27 914 3 26 0 Rashaad Penny SEA 27 346 2 16 0 Samaje Perine CIN 28 394 2 287 4 Jerick McKinnon KC 31 291 1 512 9 A year after (in)famously being shut out of the end zone, Miles Sanders punched in 11 scores and posted a career-high 1,263 rushing yards. Although Sanders snagged 50 balls as a rookie, the Eagles haven’t involved him much as a receiver since. That could impact his ability to attract a deal with the top tier of available rushers. Jamaal Williams was one of the best fantasy values from 2022. Williams led the NFL with 17 touchdowns and also surpassed 1,000 rushing yards for the first time in his career. Williams should be able to parlay that into a decent raise in 2023. However, he most likely finds himself in another timeshare with the Lions or elsewhere. Alexander Mattison has always attracted fantasy attention as the direct handcuff to Dalvin Cook. And when given the chance to shine, Mattison has had some big outings. Now, Mattison will get the chance to see if another NFL team views him in the same light as #ZERORB drafters do. The dream fantasy scenario- re-signing with the Vikings if Cook is a cap casualty. The surprising Christian McCaffrey trade allowed D’Onta Foreman to showcase his potential as a starter. Foreman posted five games with 100-plus rushing yards. In all, the fifth-year pro ran for 914 yards despite having just 12 carries in Carolina’s first six games. Foreman will draw interest from multiple teams but a return to the Panthers would make him an excellent late-round fantasy value. Be cautious with Jerick McKinnon. The aging back easily had his best numbers as a cleverly-deployed red-zone outlet. But, any other destination than a return to Kansas City would be a huge step back. However, neither back will draw interest as a lead dog. With ties to San Francisco, keep an eye on the Texans as potential fits for both veteran ball carriers. Darrel Williams was limited to just six games in 2022. However, he looked solid in the only contest in which he got double-digit touches. He’ll draw interest as a dependable veteran change-of-pace option. Depending on where he lands, Williams offers some late-round interest as an insurance policy. Boston Scott has averaged over 4 yards per carry in each of his four seasons as Philly’s RB2/3. Scott also has shown a solid nose for the end zone and was solid as a receiver in his first two campaigns. 2023 Free Agent Rankings: Quarterbacks

Lamar Jackson Baltimore Ravens

As you know, there is no real off-season for fantasy football fanatics. While the NFL playoffs are still in progress, it’s never a bad idea to be prepared for the next season. FullTime Fantasy‘s 2023 Free Agent Rankings: Quarterbacks previews the top veteran signal callers available this spring. Overall, there isn’t a lot of depth available at the NFL’s most important position. This free agent class is top-heavy but the uninspiring incoming rookie class could make for some big-money deals. Starters PLAYER TEAM AGE YDS TD INT Lamar Jackson BAL 26 2242 17 7 Tom Brady TB 46 4694 25 9 Geno Smith SEA 32 4282 30 11 Daniel Jones NYG 26 3205 15 5 Jimmy Garoppolo SF 28 2437 10 8 Lamar Jackson – Jackson is clearly the preeminent free-agent quarterback. Just now entering his prime, Jackson is one of the elite dual-threat options in the NFL. However, the Ravens have unsuccessfully tried to engage Jackson for some time. Were he to hit the open market, Jackson could command north of $40 million annually. However, the most likely outcome is that Baltimore franchise tags their quarterback. This could lead to a holdout situation, but only time will tell. Tom Brady – Even at 46, Brady will attract plenty of suitors. Brady’s touchdown numbers dipped significantly in 2022. However, an offensive line that ranked 28th in DVOA played a large role in that. Most Buccaneers’ teammates got the impression that Brady is unlikely to return to Tampa. Wherever Brady lands will almost certainly have to be a potential Super Bowl contender. Time is running out for the GOAT, but he could still be the difference for a handful of veteran rosters. EDIT: Brady announced his retirement on February 1st. Unless he has another change of heart, the GOAT should be avoided in all drafts. Geno Smith – Timing is everything and Smith parlayed his best-ever campaign into a ton of money. If Brady retires and the Ravens tag Lamar Jackson, Smith could be the most attractive QB on the open market. A reunion with the Seahawks makes the most sense but Smith might command 10 times more than the $3.5 million he pocketed in 2022. Daniel Jones – The Giants declined their fifth-year option, which makes Jones free to test the market. Jones is probably a better fantasy option than a real NFL difference-maker. However, he is a plus athlete who doesn’t throw a lot of interceptions. However, New York’s two playoff games were very indicative of Jones’ week-to-week inconsistencies. Still, Brian Daboll did coach Jones to a solid campaign and a reunion makes the most sense. Other interested teams might include the Jets, Colts, Raiders, and Panthers. Jimmy Garoppolo – 2022 was a whirlwind season for Jimmy G. However, there will not be a reunion in San Francisco. Still just 31, Garoppolo will appeal to many teams. But, the jury is still out on if the nine-year veteran can ever emerge beyond “tweener” status. A reunion with Josh McDaniels in Las Vegas makes sense. However, has Garoppolo proven he is an upgrade over Derek Carr? Speaking of Carr, it should be noted that he will be released or traded this off-season. Were he to hit the open market, Carr would slide in as the third or fourth-best option. Bridge/Backups PLAYER TEAM AGE YDS TD INT Baker Mayfield LAR 28 2163 10 8 Jacoby Brissett CLE 30 2608 12 6 Taylor Heinicke WAS 30 1859 12 6 Gardner Minshew PHI 27 563 3 3 Mike White NYJ 28 1192 3 4 Sam Darnold CAR 26 1143 7 3 Teddy Bridgewater MIA 30 683 4 4 Andy Dalton NO 35 2871 18 9 Joe Flacco NYJ 38 902 9 5 Drew Lock SEA 26 Cooper Rush DAL 29 1051 5 3 This second tier of free-agent QBs is unlikely to attract attention as potential starters. While some can fill in as bridge options, most are destined for clipboard duties. Baker Mayfield – Last season was a wild ride for Baker Mayfield. First, he opened the season as Carolina’s starter. Secondly, Mayfield was relegated to the bench and unceremoniously released. Finally, was the improbable Thursday night win as the Rams’ starter. Regardless, it has become aware that Mayfield isn’t a long-term option. However, he can find a role if he is willing to guide a rookie. Jacoby Brissett – Brissett did an admirable job replacing Mayfield and holding down the fort for Deshaun Watson. As a result, he might attract teams as a bridge option or in a mentor capacity. Taylor Heinicke – Although he was able to usurp Carson Wentz, Heinicke is unlikely to be viewed as a viable starter. Heinicke is capable of playing well in small stretches. Therefore, he’ll attract interest as a dependable veteran backup. Gardner Minshew – It has been two full seasons since Minshew was a starter. Most likely, Philadelphia is the ideal fit for a player like Minshew because the Eagles have a locked-in starter who takes a lot of punishment as a runner. It’s unlikely that Minshew will find a starting gig. Above all, a reunion with the Eagles or a similar role with another team is the most likely outcome. Mike White – White could be a dark horse option to earn a starting gig. However, that would only happen if he re-signs with the Jets. It seems painfully obvious that the Jets missed on Zach Wilson, which would open the door for White to win the job in camp. However, this outcome is rather unlikely as the Jets would be better served to start fresh. 2022 NFL Free Agent Rankings: Tight Ends

Dalton Schultz

While the 2022 free-agent class of tight ends lacks a true top-tier name, there are some quality veteran pass-catchers set to test the market. With more and more teams utilizing multiple tight ends regularly, there will be plenty of fantasy ramifications. Here are our 2022 free-agent rankings for the tight end position. Also, make sure you check out the quarterback, running back, and wide receivers. PLAYER POS TEAM AGE GAME REC YDS TD Dalton Schultz TE DAL 26 17 78 808 8 Mike Gesicki TE MIA 26 17 73 780 2 Zach Ertz TE ARZ 31 17 74 763 5 Evan Engram TE NYG 27 15 46 408 3 Rob Gronkowski TE TB 33 12 55 802 6 David Njoku TE CLE 26 16 36 475 4 Tyler Conklin TE MIN 26 17 61 593 3 Gerald Everett TE SEA 28 15 48 478 4 C.J. Uzomah TE CIN 29 16 49 493 5 Anthony Firkser TE TEN 27 15 34 291 2 Dalton Schultz – After a breakout 2021 campaign, Schultz is likely to get franchise tagged, but if he were to hit the open market, the 25-year-old veteran could command a salary in the $12-14 million range annually. Schultz’s dynasty value is tied to re-signing with Dallas, but if he were to sign elsewhere, Blake Jarwin would become an interesting name once again. Mike Gesicki – Gesicki’s 111 targets ranked fourth overall and with Miami undergoing another regime change, there’s a good chance the fifth-year tight end will be allowed to test free agency. More of a wide receiver than true inline tight end, Gesicki could benefit from a change of scenery and still has top-5 fantasy potential should he land in a destination with more stable quarterback play. Zach Ertz – Ertz actually had one more target than Gesicki thanks to an uptick in looks after being traded to Arizona, where he averaged 10.75 targets per game in the Cardinals’ last four contests. Although Ertz will turn 32 in December, he is still a potent pass-catching weapon and will have no shortage of suitors in the $6-8 million dollar range annually in a 2-3 year deal. Although his dynasty value is on the decline, Ertz can still be a top-10 redraft option provided he lands with a coach willing to scheme Ertz into the offense. Evan Engram – Understandably, many fantasy pundits are done with Engram after a pair of disappointing seasons, but Engram is still just 27 and could still develop into an above-average receiving option. More reason for optimism: Engram could hardly find worse quarterback play and may still be viewed as a decent late-round streamer this summer. Rob Gronkowski – With word that Tom Brady has retired, we’ve likely seen the final play of Rob Gronkowski’s brilliant NFL career. Gronk indicated that he may still play without Brady, but having already retired once and returned simply to reunite with his long-time signal-caller, it makes sense for him to walk away. 33 in May, Gronkowski has played a full season once since 2011 but could still make an impact as a designated red-zone option should he come back for one final season with a contender, but his days as a fantasy TE1 are in the past. David Njoku – A 2017 first-round selection, Njoku will have the opportunity to test the free-agent waters for the first time but a return to Cleveland is something that is also on the table, particularly if the club parts ways with Austin Hooper. Still just 26 when the 2022 season begins, Njoku had a career-best 13.2 yards per catch average and posted his first 100-yard performance in Week 5. Tyler Conklin – Thrust into the starting lineup after Irv Smith suffered a season-ending knee injury in the summer, Conklin parlayed the unexpected reps into a solid 61/593/3 line. With Smith expected to make a full recovery, Conklin isn’t necessarily expected to return to Minnesota. With limited success in his first three campaigns, Conklin may have to settle for a rotational role. Gerald Everett – Labeled as a popular late-round sleeper last summer, Everett set career-best numbers in catches, yards, and touchdowns but his production was quite similar to when he was splitting reps with Tyler Higbee in Los Angeles. The Seahawks are about to embark on a rebuild, so Everett is unlikely to return, which might be for the best from a fantasy perspective. C.J. Uzomah – Uzomah had his best pro season as the Bengals broke out. With a deep receiving corps, Uzomah will always be used as a secondary option in Cincinnati and could try to capitalize on his success to make a play for more targets elsewhere. However, for fantasy purposes, re-signing with the surging Bengals makes the most sense, but Uzomah will be little more than a week-to-week streamer regardless of his address. Anthony Firkser – Another popular pre-season sleeper, Firkser had a middling season as the Titans rotated tight ends. Firkser had 20 or fewer yards in nine of his 15 games and single-digit yards in five. He’s little more than a fantasy TE3 draftable only in leagues that dole out bonuses for the position. PLAYER POS TEAM AGE GAME REC YDS TD Hayden Hurst TE ATL 28 13 26 221 3 Ricky Seals-Jones TE WAS 27 13 30 271 2 Mo Alie-Cox TE IND 28 17 24 316 4 Robert Tonyan TE GB 28 8 18 204 2 Durham Smythe TE MIA 26 17 34 357 0 O.J. Howard TE TB 27 17 14 135 1 Eric Ebron TE PIT 29 8 12 84 1 Will Dissly TE SEA 26 15 21 231 1 Jared Cook TE LAC 35 16 48 564 4 Ian Thomas TE CAR 26 17 18 188 0 There isn’t a lot of depth at tight end overall and that’s certainly true for the 2022 free-agent class. Hayden Hurst could draw attention as a lesser starter or solid rotational option but will be well off the fantasy radar unless he lands in a top-10 offense. Mo Alie-Cox jumps out as a potential breakout option

2022 Free Agent Rankings: Wide Receivers

Packers WR Davante Adams

There are some big-name wide receivers that will enter the 2022 offseason as free agents and the potential fantasy fall-out can be huge when these pass-catchers start signing. Here are our 2022 free-agent rankings for the wide receiver position. Also, make sure you check out the quarterback and running back rankings. PLAYER POS TEAM AGE GAME REC YDS TD Davante Adams WR GB 29 16 123 1553 11 Chris Godwin WR TB 26 14 98 1103 5 Mike Williams WR LAC 27 16 76 1146 9 Odell Beckham Jr. WR LAR 29 14 44 537 5 JuJu Smith-Schuster WR PIT 25 5 15 129 0 Allen Robinson WR CHI 28 12 38 410 1 Christian Kirk WR ARZ 25 17 77 982 5 Michael Gallup WR DAL 26 9 35 445 2 D.J. Chark WR JAX 25 4 7 154 2 Russell Gage WR ATL 26 14 66 770 4 Davante Adams – All eyes on Green Bay as both members of the league’s top QB/WR duo are set to potentially depart. There were rumbling that the Packers could place the franchise tag on Adams but with the club currently projected to be over $40 million over the 2022 salary cap, that seems unlikely. If Aaron Rodgers were to return, that would probably improve Green Bay’s chances of hanging onto Adams but the early lean is Adams will join a new team and should have no shortage of suitors. Chris Godwin – A torn ACL will hurt Godwin’s chances of landing a big-money deal early on since he won’t be able to work out for teams. The best-case fantasy scenario would be for QB Tom Brady to return for one more Super Bowl run and for Godwin to re-sign with the Bucs, perhaps to a 0ne-year deal. Mike Williams – The franchise tag, which would be over $19 million for one year, will be in play for the Chargers if they are unable to come to terms on a multi-year deal with Williams. LA has plenty of cap space to afford to splurge on Williams, who is coming off of his finest NFL campaign. There is probably a 75% chance that Williams will be back with the Chargers in 2022 but he could attract offers as another franchise’s No. 1 wideout should LA choose to spend elsewhere. Odell Beckham Jr. – OBJ salvaged some of his sagging value by reclaiming his nose for the endzone after joining the Rams, who have an excellent quarterback in Matthew Stafford. 30 in November, Beckham still has some years of his prime remaining and should command $6-7 million annually in a 2-3 year deal as a veteran WR1/2. JuJu Smith-Schuster – The wheels fell off for Smith-Schuster and the Steelers’ passing game in 2021. Smith-Schuster missed nearly the entire season with a shoulder injury and QB Ben Roethlisberger looked washed. JuJu signed a one-year deal to remain in Pittsburgh in 2021 and didn’t make himself much money in a lost season. A reunion with the Steelers is certainly an option if the club can land a dependable veteran signal-caller, but Smith Schuster’s slot/perimeter flexibility and age will make him an attractive target for any team shopping for dependable pass catchers. Allen Robinson – The narrative that Robinson has never played with a good quarterback is mostly true. For A-Rob to ever reclaim WR2 status, he’ll need to prioritize doing just that- signing with a team that has a credible signal-caller. Still just 28 when the 2022 season starts, Robinson will draw plenty of interest on the open market, hopefully from a team that can get him the ball and help resurrect his once-promising career. Christian Kirk – Expected to be no better than fourth on Arizona’s depth chart to open the season, Kirk instead put together his finest campaign just in time to cash in this offseason. With aging A.J. Green also set to test free agency, a reunion with the Cardinals would be ideal for fantasy purposes if Arizona can squeeze him in. Expect Kirk to command somewhere north of $10 million annually over 3-4 years. Michael Gallup – Gallup missed the first half of the season then tore his ACL in Week 17. The timing of that injury will be problematic towards attracting long-term offers with a new team that won’t be able to work Gallup out. There is a lot of upside there, but he’ll need a lot of luck to be ready for Week 1. D.J. Chark – Nothing went right for the Jaguars in 2021, but fortunately for Chark, he should have the opportunity to escape from that dreary situation. Chark’s season was cut short by a broken ankle but he should be good to go by the offseason. Just 25 with a 1000-yard season on his resume, Chark can be a solid fantasy WR2/3 with improved quarterback play- which should be easy to find. Russell Gage – Gage stepped up and became Atlanta’s top wideout after Calvin Ridley stepped away from the team. Over the last three seasons, Gage developed into a dependable option out of the slot and will be better off remaining in a secondary role. PLAYER POS TEAM AGE GAME REC YDS TD Will Fuller WR MIA 28 2 4 26 0 Jamison Crowder WR NYJ 28 12 51 447 2 Cedrick Wilson WR DAL 26 16 45 602 6 Braxton Berrios WR NYJ 26 16 46 431 2 Marquez Valdes-Scantling WR GB 27 11 26 430 3 Sammy Watkins WR BAL 29 13 27 394 1 T.Y. Fuller’s dud one-year deal in Miami could lead to another 1-year ‘prove it’ deal in a new locale. Now six full seasons into his career, Fuller had yet to top 53
