Finally, Jody was way ahead of the consensus last season on Travis Etienne and Evan Engram. Let’s see what he forecasts this year with our 2023 Preseason Pro: Jody Smith. — BREAKOUT — Rachaad White (RB) Tampa Bay Buccaneers – It’s a new era in Tampa. Without Tom Brady, the Buccaneers are projected to be one of the worst teams in football. However, that doesn’t mean that there won’t be fantasy production in Tampa Bay. Last year’s overall RB12, Leonard Fournette, is no longer wearing pewter. That means sophomore running back Rachaad White is this unquestioned starter in 2023. Plus, the Bucs didn’t add any competition via the 2023 NFL Draft. This is White’s backfield and he fared well with an extended look to ramp up his rookie campaign. In his final eight games, White averaged 11.3 touches and 65 scrimmage yards per contest. Even splitting touches with Fournette, White still posted RB35 numbers as a rookie. A large part of that production came from targets. White ranked 11th among running backs with 50 receptions. However, Fournette ranked third with 73. The vast majority of those targets will now be intended for White. Rachaad White saw a target on 12.4% of his snaps in 2022, the 4th highest among RBs with 300+ snaps and just between Christian McCaffrey (12.5%) and Rhamondre Stevenson (12.2%)pic.twitter.com/N7cYbhJaCR — Scott Spratt (@Scott_Spratt) July 20, 2023 Of course, the Bucs won’t throw as much with Baker Mayfield under center. However, Mayfield has a history of peppering running backs with targets. Tampa Bay should see plenty of favorable game scripts for the passing attack. White is a dark horse to lead running backs in targets. That gives him real breakout potential in season two. — SLEEPER — Jahmyr Gibbs & David Montgomery (RB) Detroit Lions – The rebuilt Lions are no longer pushovers in the competitive NFC North. Fresh off a 9-8 campaign, Detroit is poised to make the playoffs for the first time since 2016. The biggest part of the turnaround was from the club’s offense. Detroit ranked fourth overall in yards and fifth in points scored. They also rushed for 22 touchdowns a year ago- third-most in football. And after spending the 12th overall pick on electric Alabama RB Jahmyr Gibbs, the 2023 Lions could be even more potent. In fact, the club was so enamored with Gibbs that they sent D’Andre Swift to Philadelphia. Swift posted RB17 numbers in PPR points per game last season. However, Gibbs is actually a better NFL prospect. Gibbs posted an elite 99th percentile 4.37-second 40-yard dash. He also forced a ton of missed tackles and showcased superlative footwork. PFF graded Gibbs as a top-10 pass-catching running back last season. I envision Dan Campbell and Ben Johnson utilizing Gibbs in a similar fashion as Swift. However, Gibbs is more explosive and less likely to be felled by the nagging injuries that hampered Swift throughout his Detroit tenure. Dating back to 2006, 10 of the 13 running backs selected inside the top 12 posted RB2 numbers or better in Year One. Also, Gibbs has already impressed with first-team reps this summer. He has a very good shot at posting top-10 numbers right away. As for David Montgomery, this staff proved last year that there is plenty of room for two backs. Detroit rushed for 2,179 yards and 23 scores. “No. 2” back Jamaal Williams ran for 1,066 yards and an NFL-high 17 touchdowns. Montgomery is a better receiver than Williams and also weighs 225 pounds. Montgomery should be able to parlay that same role into another solid fantasy campaign. Last season, Montgomery ranked 14th among all running backs with 17 touches (6 TDs) inside his opponent’s 10-yard line. He

Fantasy Football Injury Rundown

After a three-day Wild-Card weekend, we’re down to the final four in each conference. This weekend’s Division Round offers some intriguing matchups. However, some key injuries are sure to make an impact on the field and in fantasy lineups. Our Fantasy Football Injury Rundown breaks down all the injuries you’ll need to know before you finalize your playoff lineups. Speaking of Fantasy Football Playoff Leagues, there’s still time to enter a Division Round Best ball Draft. Also, somebody is going to win a trip to Maui by simply having the highest two-week best ball run. That could be you! Next, let’s get to the fantasy football injury rundown. Jalen Hurts (QB) Philadelphia Eagles – Now more than a month since Hurts injured his shoulder, all indications are that Hurts is fully healthy. The SC joint that Hurts injured should no longer impact his throwing or running. Before that injury, Hurts and the Eagles dispatched the Giants 48-22 back in Week 14. Trevor Lawrence (QB) Jacksonville Jaguars – Lawrence is listed as limited with a toe injury. However, this issue has lingered for weeks but has not hampered Lawrence on the field. Lawrence should be good to go as the Jags are big underdogs in Kansas City. Isaiah McKenzie (WR) Buffalo Bills – McKenzie hurt his hamstring prior to last week and missed Buffalo’s win. However, McKenzie returned to practice in full Wednesday. Expect McKenzie to return to action versus Cincinnati. Isaiah Hodgins (WR) New York Giants – Similar to last week, Hodgins has been limited in practice with an ankle injury. Hodgins played through the ailment last week and had a dominant game. This is a non-issue. Also, Hodgins found the end-zone against Philadelphia in Week 14. We view Hodgins as a solid WR3 in this slate. Clyde Edwards-Helaire (RB) Kansas City Chiefs – Kansas City’s backfield should be reinforced just in time for the postseason. Edwards-Helaire has been out since Week 11 with a high-ankle sprain but returned to practice Tuesday. CEH dominated touches in the opening month of the season. But, as things progressed, Jerrick McKinnon and Isiah Pacheco emerged as bigger parts of the offense. It’s hard to pinpoint how much of a role Edwards-Helaire will have in the Division Round. Mecole Hardman (WR) Kansas City Chiefs – Out since Week 9, Hardman is looking unlikely for the Division Round. Andy Reid told the media that Hardman’s core injury recovery isn’t where it needs to be. This makes it highly unlikely that Hardman will play this week. The #Chiefs say that WR Mecole Hardman is out of practice again on Wednesday. DE Frank Clark, who was limited on Tuesday, is expected to do more on Wednesday. Both IR players, RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire and TE Jody Fortson, did “well” on Tuesday and are expected to work Wednesday. — Pete Sweeney (@pgsween) January 18, 2023 Skyy Moore (WR) Kansas City Chiefs – The rookie wideout missed the regular-season finale with a hand injury but was cleared to practice without restrictions. However, Moore played fewer than 20% of Kansas City’s snaps this season and had single-digit receiving yards in seven of his final 10 games. Moore is nothing more than a cheap DFS option this week. Jamal Agnew (WR) Jacksonville Jaguars – Agnew was listed as limited with a shoulder ailment. He played through the same injury last week, so it doesn’t appear to be much of a concern. However, Agnew’s 12.5% snap rate is. Maui Madness Playoff Pick’Em — ($25 or a 5-pack for $100) Maui Madness is still accepting entries up until Conference Championship Weekend as the contest takes your highest two weekly scores to determine the winner. While most fantasy football leagues have already concluded, that does not mean the fun is over. In fact, the best is yet to come for one skilled fantasy player! That person who can build the best fantasy lineup for the playoffs will win the grand prize of A Trip for Four to Maui!
Fantasy Football Injury Rundown

The NFL playoffs are here, but plenty of injuries will still impact this weekend’s action. If anything, injuries now have an even bigger impact. Our Fantasy Football Injury Rundown catches you up on the latest. Speaking of fantasy football, the season is far from over. With the FFWC, NFL Playoff Fantasy Leagues are open. Lamar Jackson (QB) Baltimore Ravens – Jackson has yet to resume practicing and has all but been ruled out. Injured initially in Week 13, Jackson hasn’t been close to returning or seen practicing in six weeks. Also, backup Tyler Huntley (wrist) has been limited. If Huntley cannot go, Anthony Brown will get a rematch with the Bengals this week. Tua Tagovailoa (QB) Miami Dolphins – Head coach Mike McCoy indicated that Tagovailoa has still not cleared concussion protocol. McCoy also ruled Tagovailoa out for Miami’s wild-card matchup. Teddy Bridgewater (finger) is also expected to be sidelined. That puts rookie Skylar Thompson in line to start against a surging Buffalo squad. It has been a decade since a first-year quarterback has won a playoff game. Raheem Mostert (RB) Miami Dolphins – Mostert fractured his thumb in Miami’s finale and is questionable to play on Sunday. Even with a cast, it is hard to see a running back contributing with a broken thumb. Should Mostert sit, Jeff Wilson would be slated for a lot of touches against Buffalo. Mike Williams (WR) Los Angeles Chargers – Williams exited Week 18 with a back injury that looked worrisome. He has yet to practice this week. Los Angeles also has to travel to Jacksonville for Saturday’s game. This gives Williams less time to recover. Conversely, it is looking like Williams is unlikely to play in the wild-card round. Kenneth Walker (RB) Seattle Seahawks – Walker (ankle)did not practice Wednesday. However, this appears to be a routine rest day for the rookie. Walker has racked up three consecutive games with 23-plus rushes and 100-plus rushing yards. Jaylen Waddle (WR) Miami Dolphins – Another issue for the banged-up Dolphins. Waddle (ankle) was limited in practice. However, local media seem to think the limited tag was simply a precaution. Waddle is fully expected to suit up on Sunday. Gus Edward (RB) Baltimore Ravens – Edwards exited Week 18 early and is still in the league’s concussion protocol. It is looking unlikely that Edwards will be able to play this week. That puts JK Dobbins in a position to see a lot of work for the injury-ravaged Ravens. Tee Higgins (WR) Cincinnati Bengals – Higgins sat out Wednesday’s practice with an undisclosed illness. Currently, there doesn’t seem to be any concern about Higgins’ Week 19 status because he is not injured. Trevor Lawrence (QB) Jacksonville Jaguars – The Jaguars listed QB Trevor Lawrence as limited with a toe injury. However, Lawrence played through the ailment last week without issue. Noah Fant (TE) Seattle Seahawks – Seattle’s starting tight end was once again limited in practice by a knee injury. This has been commonplace for Fant, who has yet to miss a game. Finally, Fant played over 64% of Seattle’s snaps last week and should be good to go versus San Francisco. Our fantasy playoffs challenge is live! Fantasy Football Start ‘Em Sit ‘Em Week 18

The vast majority of fantasy football leagues have concluded. However, there are a few holdouts that play into the final week. For those still active, our Fantasy Football Start ‘Em Sit ‘Em Week 18 can help navigate the most difficult slate of the season. Editor’s note: This article is written by Bradley Stalder. QUARTERBACKS Start ‘Em Sam Darnold (Carolina Panthers) The Panthers may have been eliminated from the playoffs last week with a loss to the Tampa Buccaneers, but that doesn’t mean they won’t play their hearts out in Week 18 against the Colts. Darnold has played well as of late, finishing as the QB8 and QB6 each of the last two weeks. He’s thrown 7 TDs and only 1 INT on the season. The Panthers have a 26% PFF Pass Block projected advantage over the New Orleans Saints. Darnold is on the streaming radar for Week 18. Aaron Rodgers (Green Bay Packers) This is a must-win game for the Packers, as their fate rides in the hands of Aaron Rodgers. The last time Rodgers played the Lions, he set a season-high with 291 passing yards and tied for his 3rd best weekly finish on the season. The Packers have a 20% PFF Pass Block projected advantage over the Detroit Lions. Also, David Bakhtiari practiced on Wednesday, which bodes well for his availability in Week 18. Sit ‘Em Mike White (New York Jets) The Jets were eliminated with a loss last week. White is still suffering from the ribs injury that cost him two games earlier in the season. Now he’s limited in practice and questionable. White threw for his fewest yards on the season and had his worst weekly finish at QB31. That, and along with a Miami defensive line projected to have a 46% Pass Block advantage over the New York Jets, it could be ugly as Miami needs to win and needs the Patriots to lose to make the playoffs. Daniel Jones (New York Giants) The Giants have zero playoff motivation to win this game. They are locked into the 6th seed, and while a divisional win would be nice, depriving the Eagles of a 1st round bye may not be worth it come the 2nd half of the game. The Eagles are going all-out to win, and have a 33% projected Pass Block advantage over the Giants’ offensive line. It could get ugly quickly. UPDATE: Reports out of New York are that Tyrod Taylor has a good chance to start. Finding an alternative to Jones is imperative. RUNNING BACKS Start ‘Em Tyler Allgeier (Atlanta Falcons) Allgeier needs exactly 100 yards to get to 1,000 rushing yards this season. And he has a chance to do it on Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. While Allgeier only went 13-45 the last time the Bucs and Falcons matched up, the Bucs give up 117 rush yards per game. The Falcons have a projected 53% Run Block advantage over Tampa’s defensive line per PFF, and the Bucs have nothing to play for as they are locked into the 4-seed in the NFC. Since Week 13, Tyler Allgeier has posted the highest PFF RUN grade among all running backs. Jamaal Williams (Detroit Lions) For the Lions to make the playoffs, the Seahawks must lose and the Lions must defeat the Packers on Sunday night. Enter Jamaal Williams’ revenge game. Williams is coming fresh off a monster game: 22-144-1 and caught his only target for 13 yards. His RB4 finish on the week tied for his best weekly finish this season. And Williams will get room to run against the Packers, as Green Bay allows over 140 rush yards per game, 7th worst in the league. Finally, the Lions’ OL also projects to have a 34% Run Block advantage over the Packers. Sit ‘Em Travis Etienne (Jacksonville Jaguars) Etienne has posted three straight games over 100 scrimmage yards. Why fade in a must-win game for Jacksonville? Tennessee has allowed the 2nd fewest rushing yards to opponents this season and has only allowed 77 rush yards per game over the last 3 games. Even worse, this game is in Jacksonville, and Tennessee allows only 62.4 rush yards per game on the road. PFF projects a 63% Run Block advantage for the Titans over the Jaguars. And we’ve seen this before. Etienne rushed 17 times in Week 14 against the Titans but only mustered 32 yards at a 1.88-yards-per-carry clip. James Conner (Arizona Cardinals) Conner left the Week 17 game against the Falcons early, playing his fewest snaps since Week 5. He’s sat out of practice all week so far and doesn’t look like he’s trending to play. Even if he were to play, Conner faces a San Francisco 49ers team that needs to win for a chance at a #1 Seed in the NFC. The last time Conner faced the 49ers, he went 14-42-1 on the ground and 2-17 receiving. Not to mention the 49ers allow the fewest rush yards to opponents on the season. WIDE RECEIVERS Start ‘Em Brandon Aiyuk (San Francisco 49ers) Aiyuk seems to have found his chemistry with Brock Purdy. In Purdy’s first three games, Aiyuk went 9-157-1 on 14 targets. In the Week 17 game against Las Vegas, Aiyuk caught 9 passes for 101 yards and a TD on 12 targets and sprinkled in a rush for 16 yards. It was Aiyuk’s first 100-yard receiving game of the season. Aiyuk projects to line up most of his snaps across from Jace Whittaker, who has allowed a crisp 69% of his yards after the catch– a Shanahan specialty. Arizona allows the 8th most passing yards on the year and look to be without Budda Baker in Week 18. Deebo Samuel (San Francisco 49ers) Game After Returning from Injury Scrimmage Yards Snap % Opportunities Week 10, 2022 51 87% 10 Week 13, 2021 59 77% 9 Week 12, 2020 133 88% 13 Week 4, 2020 45 34% 4 Week 8, 2019 48 69% 5 When Deebo Samuel returns from
