Fantasy Football Start ‘Em Sit ‘Em: Week 11

Start ‘Em Sit ‘Em: Week 11 Start Cam Newton (QB) Carolina Panthers Cam is back and will be the starter next week for the Panthers. He will get the start this week after having a few packages last week. When he was on the field he gave this team juice and they throttled the first-place Cardinals. He went 3-4 through the air with a touchdown and had three carries and a TD on the ground. His touches were limited after being out of the league since the preseason, but he was impressive. In his first start, he gets the best possible matchup a fantasy quarterback can get. He will take on the Washington Football Team defense who is allowing the most fantasy points to QBs. You aren’t starting him over studs but he’s a strong streaming option this week. Cam looked like Cam. Even if he isn’t great through the air, rushing upside and dump-offs to Christian McCaffrey give him a nice floor. Myles Gaskin (RB) Miami Dolphins Gaskin is averaging just under 19 touches per game over the past four weeks and this week takes on the lowly Jets who just allowed the Bills’ terrible backfield do whatever they wanted against them including Matt Breida scoring two TDs. The Jets are allowing the most fantasy points to running backs and it’s not close. There is no reason Gaskin shouldn’t have a monster day both through the air and on the ground. Tua has been named the starter and loves throwing him the ball as well. He has RB1 upside this week in PPR leagues. Rhamondre Stevenson (RB) New England Patriots Stevenson got the start last week and torched the Browns’ defense. He carried the ball 20 times for 100 yards and two TDs while adding four catches for 14 yards in the passing attack. Damien Harris may or may not be back this week for Thursday Night Football when the Pats take on the Falcons. The Falcons are allowing the third-most points to fantasy running backs and are significantly worse than the Browns when it comes to slowing down runners. If Harris is out Stevenson is a must-start. However, even if Harris does play I still like Stevenson as a flex option this week. Brandin Cooks (WR) Houston Texans Cooks has been solid as always, but it’s hard to trust any Texans’ fantasy option every week. Nonetheless, Tyrod Taylor is back and is better than Davis Mills for what that’s worth and the matchup this week is ideal. Houston takes on the Tennessee Titans who are allowing the most fantasy points in the league to opposing wideouts. Their inability to stop anyone through the air and a game script that should force the Texans to throw the ball almost constantly should lead to big points from Cooks even if a lot of them come in garbage time. Donovan Peoples-Jones (WR) Cleveland Browns The Browns got embarrassed last week by the Patriots, Peoples-Jones was useless, and Baker looked awful. The Browns don’t play the Patriots this week though. They play the Lions. There’s no team to get right against quite like the Lions who allow just about anybody to do just about anything they want against them with the apparent exception of Mason Rudolph. I expect the Browns to come out angry and firing. At this point, DPJ looks like their WR1 and is their most dangerous weapon in the passing attack when it comes to big plays and TDs. If he’s on my roster I’m throwing him in my flex this week. It’s tough to sit anyone against Detroit. C.J. Uzohma (TE) Cincinatti Bengals Uzomah has been a boom or bust tight end this year and this is going to be a boom week coming off a bye. Cincy is taking on the Raiders who are allowing the second-most fantasy points to tight ends this season and were just dismantled last week by the Chiefs. It looks like their late-season collapse is in full effect and I have no faith they will be able to slow down the Bengals’ offense this week. There is no area where their defense struggles more than against the tight end. If you allow Uzomah to get open Joe Burrow loves to target him and will hit him for big plays and touchdowns. He’s my top streaming option this week. Sit Carson Wentz (QB) Indianapolis Colts Wentz has been solid this season so this isn’t a knock on him. We are just at a point with this Bills’ defense that there isn’t a quarterback in the league I wouldn’t consider sitting against them if I had any kind of decent second option. They are dominating everybody and allowing the fewest fantasy points to the position. They make my job much easier because I can just look at who they’re playing and plug them in my sit spot in this article each week. You should do the same with your lineups. Mike Davis (RB) Atlanta Falcons Cordarrelle Patterson is probably out this week and I’m still not putting Davis anywhere near my lineup against the Patriots this week. This isn’t because the Pats’ run defense is stellar because it’s not, he’s just horrid. Wayne Gallman got a huge workload last week, but it’s hard to tell if that’s because he’s jumped Davis on the depth chart or because they were down by about 1,000 points almost immediately last week. Still, Davis is unstartable and if you’re not going to start him this week with Patterson out you’re never going to. So if you’re still rostering him it’s time to let him loose. I also wouldn’t start Gallman this week. However, he may be worth adding because if he does see the bulk of the carries this week and Patterson misses more time, then you may have something with him. Zack Moss (RB) Buffalo Bills The Colts are the toughest matchup Moss can fan face this season
Fantasy Football News & Notes

As a friendly reminder, please be aware that there will be an early kickoff on Sunday, as the New York Jets vs. Atlanta Falcons game will be played at 9:30 ET from Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, England. Here are some other fantasy-relevant news, notes, and injury updates to be aware of before Week 5. Quarterbacks Russell Wilson tore a tendon in his finger during the Seattle Seahawks Thursday Night Football game this week and it will require surgery. He is expected to miss a minimum of a month but could miss as much as 6-8 weeks. Geno Smith will be the starter in Seattle for the foreseeable future… The San Francisco 49ers have ruled out Jimmy Garoppolo for Week 5 with a calf injury and rookie Trey Lance has been named the starter… The Chicago Bears have named rookie Justin Fields as their starter moving forward. Andy Dalton is no longer listed on the injury report… Teddy Bridgewater is in a race to clear the league’s concussion protocol before Week 5. The Denver Broncos expect him to be ready. Drew Lock would start for the Denver Broncos if Bridgewater can’t go… The Pittsburgh Steelers have no intention of benching Ben Roethlisberger this season… Carson Wentz participated in a full practice for the Indianapolis Colts on Thursday for the first time since before Week 1… Baker Mayfield suffered a torn labrum in his non-throwing shoulder in Week 2. It may impact his play but he is expected to be the Cleveland Browns starter going forward. Running Backs Dalvin Cook was not able to practice this week and will be a game-time decision due to his ankle injury. He is trending in the wrong direction and is looking unlikely to play. Alexander Mattison would be the Minnesota Vikings starter should Cook sit out… David Montgomery went down with a knee injury in the Chicago Bears Week 4 matchup. While he avoided catastrophic injury he’s still expected to miss 4-5 weeks… Antonio Gibson says he has a stress fracture in his shin that he has been able to play through. The Washington Football Team has listed him as questionable this week, but he’s likely to play… Despite showing glimmers of hope this week, the Carolina Panthers have listed Christian McCaffrey as doubtful and he’s likely to miss another week… The best case for the Cincinnati Bengals is looking like Joe Mixon being a game-time decision on Sunday. He’s trending in the wrong direction with an ankle sprain and could be ruled out on Saturday. Samaje Perine and Chris Evans are the next men up… Chase Edmonds is dealing with a shoulder injury and will be a game-time decision for the Arizona Cardinals this week… The Niners have removed Elijah Mitchell from their final injury report this week… The Los Angeles Chargers have listed Justin Jackson as doubtful this week with a groin injury… Ezekiel Elliott was listed as questionable with a knee injury this week by the Dallas Cowboys. However, Elliott says that he’s not concerned about it. As of now, there is no reason to believe it will cost him any time… DeAndre Swift is once again questionable with a groin injury for the Detroit Lions as has been the case all season. It has not cost him any time on the field. Jamaal Williams was also limited this week with a hip injury but is expected to be fine on Sunday… Nyheim Hines was held of practice late in the week with a shoulder injury and is listed as questionable for Week 5… Giovani Bernard returned to practice for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this week and could be back after a one-week absence… Chris Carson was forced to sit out this Thursday with a neck injury that will need to be monitored moving forward… Peyton Barber is expected to miss time due to turf toe. Josh Jacobs looks ready to go this week…. The New Orleans Saints have placed Tony Jones on injured reserve with an ankle injury. He’s expected to miss 3-4 weeks. Wide Receivers The Tennessee Titans have ruled out Julio Jones. A.J. Brown is expected to return this week. Both have been dealing with hamstring issues… Calvin Ridley and Russell Gage have both been ruled out by the Atlanta Falcons for this weekend’s game in London… Courtland Sutton rolled his ankle in practice on Friday and is now listed as questionable by the Denver Broncos… Tee Higgins will return to action this week after sitting out Week 4 with a shoulder injury… Amari Cooper is expected to play despite a hamstring issue… The Miami Dolphins have placed Will Fuller on IR with a broken finger and DeVante Parker is questionable this week due to a hamstring injury that popped up in practice. Miami also traded Jakeem Grant to Chicago for a sixth-round pick… The New York Giants have once again ruled out Sterling Shepard and Darius Slayton with hamstring injuries… Dyami Brown has been ruled out with a knee injury. Curtis Samuel has been absent from practice and is questionable with a groin injury… D’Wayne Eskridge has been placed on IR with concussion issues… Danny Amendola is expected to return this week for the Houston Texans. The team has also cut Anthony Miller… Chase Claypool is expected to return after a one-week absence. However, both he and Juju Smith-Schuster are officially listed as questionable… The Kansas City Chiefs have promoted Josh Gordon from the practice squad… The Jacksonville Jaguars have placed D.J. Chark on season-ending injured reserve with a fractured ankle. Tight Ends George Kittle is listed as doubtful and is unlikely to play this week due to a calf injury… T.J. Hockenson is listed as questionable this week with a knee injury and there is real concern he could sit out or be limited this week… Logan Thomas has been placed on IR with a hamstring injury. Ricky Seals-Jones is the next man up and the team also signed Jace Sternberger… Rob Gronkowski will miss
Fantasy Football Injury Report

It’s rare to see an entire 16-game NFL slate go by without seeing a major injury occur and the first week of the 2021 season was no exception. While unfortunate, fantasy managers have to adapt and take a proactive approach to move forward after players are sidelined. Here are the fantasy-relevant injuries that happened in Week 1 and what fantasy fans can do to move forward. Raheem Mostert (RB) San Francisco 49ers – After the surprising news that rookie Trey Sermon would be inactive, Mostert was poised to post RB1 numbers against an anemic Detroit defense. But after just two carries, Mostert left the game with a knee cartilage injury and will miss the rest of the season. Mosthurt’s absence led to a breakout game for Elijah Mitchell, who is undoubtedly one of the top waiver-wire targets for Week 2. As appealing as breaking the bank for Mitchell seems, proceed with caution. Kyle Shanahan is apt to rotate his backs on a whim, and Sermon is guaranteed to have a role moving forward. JaMycal Hasty could also be worked into the mix and the Niners also added Kerryon Johnson to the fold. Jerry Jeudy (WR) Denver Broncos – Anyone who saw the injury Jeudy suffered has to feel relieved that it was only a high-ankle sprain and not a fracture or serious ligament damage. Regardless, Jeudy will miss a substantial amount of time. Before exiting, Jeudy ran 79% of his routes from the slot. That means KJ Hamler is the most likely candidate to move inside, but Tim Patrick will also see an increase in snaps and targets. Both Denver wideouts are worth a solid FAAB bid, with Patrick offering more ceiling. Ryan Fitzpatrick (QB) Washington Football Team – A second-quarter hit knocked Ryan Fitzpatrick out of Washington’s opening loss and will cost the veteran journeyman half the season. The Football Team placed Fitzpatrick on IR and he’s expected to be sidelined for 6-8 weeks. Taylor Heinicke will take over under center and has a decent shot at remaining Washington’s starter all season. Fitzpatrick can be dropped in redraft formats and Heinicke is a priority add in Superflex leagues. Odell Beckham Jr. (WR) Cleveland Brown – Beckham was a surprise scratch in Cleveland’s first game, which doesn’t bode well for his recovery from ACL surgery. At this point, there is no firm timetable on when we’ll see the dynamic wideout back in Cleveland’s lineup but he had drawn positive reviews throughout the summer. Hopefully, it’s just a precautionary move and Beckham will be back in Week 2 or 3. Michael Gallup (WR) Dallas Cowboys – Gallup has been placed on IR and will miss a minimum of three games with a strained calf. Expect Cedrick Wilson to replace Gallup and run most of his routes out of the slot. This will allow CeeDee Lamb to see more perimeter snaps. Hopefully, Gallup will only miss three or four games and will return. He’s a fantasy hold for now. Antonio Gibson (RB) Washington Football Team – Gibson temporarily left Washington’s Week 1 opener with a shoulder injury but quickly returned to the game without ill effect. Gibson was listed as a limited participant in Monday’s practice but this likely has more to do with Ron Rivera keeping his running back healthy on a short week. Looks like a non-issue. Rashaad Penny (RB) Seattle Seahawks – No stranger to the injury report, Penny injured his calf and will miss at least one game. Alex Collins should slide in as Seattle’s No. 2 back and has a legit shot to take over those duties for the remainder of the season. Evan Engram (TE) New York Giants – Engram was held out of Week 1 with a calf injury and is supposedly trending towards playing in Week 2. But with the Giants looking at a short week, I wouldn’t count on it. Even if he’s active, Engram D’Wayne Eskridge (WR) Seattle Seahawks – The second-round rookie logged 12 snaps and three touches in his NFL debut before exiting with a concussion. Eskridge will have to be cleared from the league’s concussion protocol before he can return. He’s well off the fantasy radar but remains a dynasty hold. Saquon Barkley (RB) New York Giants – The Giants wisely eased Barkley back into the lineup, limiting their stud running back to just 29 snaps. The good news here is Barkley didn’t aggravate his knee injury and will continue to see his weekly role increase over the next month. Managers that drafted Barkley will have to exude patience, as it’s unlikely you have better options on the bench. Are you seriously still on the sidelines? Proven track record to help you win.
