Of course, we can’t count on that sort of fantasy-friendly game script each week. However, Watson is a candidate to miss multiple weeks, putting Wicks in position to be a WR3 or better for the foreseeable future. A healthy bid of 30-plus percent of your FAAB may be required. Roschon Johnson (RB) Chicago Bears – D’Andre Swift ranks 82nd out of 93 running backs graded by PFF in 2024. Swift is averaging a putrid 1.7 yards after contact and has been the third-least elusive back in football. Therefore, it feels like it’s only a matter of time before Swift is benched. Johnson got 13 touches in Week 3, just three fewer than Swift. Also, Johnson produced more yards on fewer touches and was far more efficient as a runner and receiver. A proactive bid on Johnson now might secure you the Bears’ starter sooner rather than later. Subsequently, Khalil Herbert also makes sense as a proactive target in deeper leagues.
Bucky Irving (RB) Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Irving highlighted last week‘s waiver wire piece. Rachaad White continues to struggle and the rookie out-snapped him in Tampa’s humiliating loss to Denver. If Irving is still available, he’s a primary add this week.
Braelon Allen (RB) New York Jets – The Jets are firmly committed to utilizing both of their outstanding young backs. Allen is still available in about 65% of leagues. However, that will change this week. Allen is among the best handcuffs in football. Additionally, he’s had standalone value in the past two games. Allen is a top-30 fantasy back through three games and needs to be a priority add where he’s un-rostered.

Also, White has been inefficient. That opens the door for Irving to secure a larger share of playing time for the first-place Bucs.
Carson Steele (RB) Kansas City Chiefs – The loss of Isiah Pacheco (leg) for multiple weeks will leave a huge void in Kansas City’s backfield. The benefactor will be Patrick Mahomes and the passing game. However, Steele logged seven rushing attempts against the Bengals. Andy Reid will probably resort to a committee backfield. But the rookie fullback is the favorite to lead the team in attempts and short-yardage work moving forward.
Samaje Perine (RB) Kansas City Chiefs – Perine can also see an increased role while Pacheco is sidelined. He’s been buried on the depth chart so far. However, nothing shakes up a depth chart more than losing a standout rusher. Perine is the favorite to see more targets and may factor in change-of-pace carries.

Therefore, there’s no need to panic or blow your entire FAAB budget chasing last week’s production. But that doesn’t mean there’s not some solid option on the Waiver Wire: Week 2.
Here are the low-rostered players you should consider adding ahead of the season’s second week.
JK Dobbins (RB) Los Angeles Chargers – Dobbins is most likely rostered in your league. However, if he’s available, consider a very healthy FAAB bid. Dobbins ranked second in the NFL with 135 rushing yards on just 1o totes. He also secured all three of his targets. It’s early, but Dobbins looks like the main back in a run-first offense. That makes him a priority in the few leagues he somehow went undrafted.
Isaiah Likely (TE) Baltimore Ravens – If you follow @ScottFantasy or our 2024 projections, you already roster Likely. I admit, I was skeptical that the Ravens would run enough 12 sets to get Likely and Mark Andrews involved. Lesson learned. Likey performed huge on the grand stage. However, I don’t expect him to repeat those gaudy stats. Regardless, Likely should be considered one of the top adds for this week.
Justin Fields (QB) Pittsburgh Steelers – The Steelers were unable to get into the end zone but they still pulled out a victory in Atlanta. Fields was fine. He accumulated a 91.9 QB Rating, rushed for 57 yards, and avoided turnovers. There’s a very good chance that Mike Tolmin will stick with Fields as his starter. He offers more upside than Russell Wilson. That gives Fields solid streaming value in Superflex leagues.

Clyde Edwards-Helaire (RB) Kansas City Chiefs – Isiah Pacheco is in the NFL’s concussion protocol. Since two-thirds of players diagnosed with a concussion miss at least one week, that sets CEH up to be Kansas City’s lead back in Week 17. Edwards-Helaire has already been making the most of a bigger opportunity after Pacheco missed a pair of games in December. As the potential lead back against a suspect Cincinnati run D, Edwards-Helaire is a solid RB2. Also, it makes him the top fantasy football waiver wire: week 17 option.
Zamir White (RB) Las Vegas Raiders – Josh Jacobs has now missed two consecutive games. Additionally, with the Raiders out of playoff contention and Jacobs set to hit free agency, we could see the veteran back shut down. If that happens, White becomes a very strong RB2 play this week as the Raiders take on a Colts’ defense that has ceded the third-most fantasy points to running backs.
