Rookie Scouting Profile: Marvin Harrison Jr.

FullTime Fantasy Rookie Scouting Profile: Marvin Harrison Jr. Marvin Harrison Jr. (WR) Ohio State Ht. Wt. 40-Time NFL Draft Dynasty ADP NFL Comp 6-3 209* 4.45* Top 10 1.01 A.J. Green *Estimate College Production A four-star recruit out of St. Joseph’s Prep in Philadelphia, Harrison chose the Buckeyes over numerous over prestige programs that made offers. Made an impact in 2021 as a true freshman, snagging a Rose Bowl record three touchdowns in OSU’s 48-45 win over Utah. As a sophomore was named unanimous All-American First Team and Biletnikoff Award finalist after snagging 77-of-109 targets for 1,263 yards and 14 touchdowns. Won the Biletnikoff award in 2023 with little dropoff in production regardless of new quarterback. Strengths • Fantastic route runner with outstanding technique and footwork. Consistently creates space and leverage. • Downfield playmaker who consistently wins contested-catch battles and keeps the chains moving. • High Football IQ. Great feel for where the first-down marker is. Adept at reeling in sideline throws and getting his feet down in bounds. • Highly productive in both 2022 and 2023 despite losing C.J. Sroud. Durable. • Inside/outside flexibility. His height would make him a problematic matchup as a big slot for slower linebackers and will have an advantage on all defensive backs. • Able to defeat press coverage. • NFL bloodlines and pedigree. Very similar playing style to his father, NFL Hall-of-Famer Marvin Harrison. • Player comps include A.J. Green, Larry Fitzgerald, and his father. Concerns  • Does not create a lot of extra yards after catch or force many missed tackles. Forced only five missed tackles in 2023. • 8.2% drop rate in 2023 after dropping just three of 118 targets in 2022. However, the swap of C.J. Stroud to Kyle McCord should be factored in. • Not the strongest guy at shielding off coverage. Needs to improve at fully running back to the ball on comeback routes. • Lacks the top-end speed to run away from NFL defenders. • Did not perform any drills at the NFL Scouting Combine or Ohio State’s Pro Day. Fantasy Outlook When it comes to “can’t miss” prospects, Marvin Harrison Jr. is considered even better than Jaxon Smith-Njigba was last year at this time. His consistent production at an elite program, NFL bloodlines, and body of work would fit on any team. He is widely considered the top wide receiver in this class. Harrison will start on Week 1 and could immediately be a No. 1 wideout. He also could play in the slot and act as a refined possession target who will quickly develop a rapport with his quarterback. A locked-in top-10 prospect, Harrison would be the top wideout right away on New England (3), Arizona (4), or the Giants (6). Harrison is the easy 1.01 in single-QB rookie drafts but is considered such a solid prospect that he warrants top billing even in Superflex formats. Definitely a prospect for fantasy managers to go out of their way to targets. However, it will be expensive. Harrison is already a top-10 dynasty wide receiver. Keep JSN’s relatively quiet rookie campaign in mind before selling the farm if you boast a “win now” dynasty roster. See where Harrison ranks in Jody’s 2024 rookie rankings.    JOIN OUR MAILING LIST! Rookie Scouting Profile: Caleb Williams

FullTime Fantasy Rookie Scouting Profile: Caleb Williams Caleb Williams (QB) USC Ht. Wt. 40-Time NFL Draft Dynasty ADP NFL Comp 6-0 7/8 217 4.5* 1.01 1.07 Dak Prescott * estimate College Production The top high school recruit in the nation, Williams first enrolled at Oklahoma as the backup to Spencer Rattler. Williams spearheaded the Sooners’ comeback win over Texas and retained the starting job for the rest of the 2021 season. Ended his freshman campaign with 1,912 passing yards, 442 yards rushing, and 27 total touchdowns. In 2022, Williams followed Lincoln Riley to USC. Set the Trojans’ school record with 4,537 passing yards, 42 scores, and total offense en route to Walter Camp, Maxwell Award, Sporting News Player of the Year accolades, and winning the Heisman Trophy. Concluded collegiate career with 41 combined scores and a career-high 170.1 QB Rating. Strengths • Gunslinger who can make all the throws and checks all the boxes to be an elite franchise signal-caller. • Excellent accuracy and timing on short and intermediate routes. Williams has the arm talent to make all the throws, including on anticipatory routes. • Elite runner and thrower who will be a nightmare option in RPO offense. • Superb leader who comes up clutch and wills his teams to victories. • Has excellent instincts to avoid pressure and is more than capable of escaping the pocket and churning out huge chunk plays on the ground. • Good decision-maker who is widely considered one of the best NFL quarterback prospects of the last five years. Concerns  • Most of his production came in a single-read, shotgun offense at USC. • Deep-ball accuracy was inconsistent. • Under ideal “prototype” NFL size. (17th percentile height). • Ball security on runs. • Struggled more than expected under pressure. • Aggressive nature could lead to more downfield interceptions against better-quality NFL defensive backs. • Did not run a pro-style offense and still needs to improve going through progressions and hanging tough in the pocket against faster, stronger NFL pass rushers. Fantasy Outlook Considered a “can’t miss” prospect, Williams is polished and a lock to start in the NFL on Day One. Also, he’s been the prohibitive favorite to be selected No. 1 overall for over two years. With Chicago trading Justin Fields to Pittsburgh, it’s all but certain that Williams will open 2024 as the Bears’ long-sought-after starter. Williams isn’t quite the runner that Fields was but will be a top-10 running quarterback. Additionally, he’s far better as a passer than Fields. Matt Eberflus is coaching for his job and will undoubtedly put his prized rookie in a strong position to succeed right away. Chicago made strides in the second half of 2023 and could contend with improved QB play. Williams has the dual-threat capabilities to post QB1 numbers as a rookie. Additionally, the acquisition of Keena Allen gives Williams a pair of elite wideouts to go along with a solid receiving tight end and running back. View Williams as a strong QB2 in redraft formats and a top-8 signal-caller in dynasty. He’s the lock 1.01 in Superflex rookie drafts and is worthy of top-half of Round One attention in single-QB leagues.   JOIN OUR MAILING LIST! Rookie Scouting Profile: Stetson Bennett

FullTime Fantasy Rookie Scouting Profile: Stetson Bennett Stetson Bennett (QB) Georgia Height Weight 40-Time DOB NFL Draft Dynasty ADP NFL Comp 5-11 192 4.67 10/28/1997 Round 4 (128) 6.04 Nick Mullens College Production During the 2020 season, Bennett took over as the starting quarterback for the Georgia Bulldogs when D’wan Mathis was benched due to poor performance. In the remaining eight games of the season, he started every game and threw for a modest 1174 yards on 158 attempts with a completion rate of 54.4%. He averaged 7.4 yards per pass, threw eight touchdowns, and was sacked four times, earning a QB rating of 79.5. Additionally, he carried the ball 23 times for a total of 101 yards, averaging 4.4 yards per rush. In his senior year in 2021, Bennett began the season as the backup quarterback to transfer JT Daniels. However, Daniels suffered an injury after just one game, giving Bennett a second opportunity to start. He capitalized on the chance, starting in 13 games and throwing for 2637 yards on 261 attempts. Bennett had a 64% completion rate and an average of 10.1 yards per pass, adding 27 touchdowns to his tally. He was sacked nine times and boasted an impressive QB rating of 120.8. Bennett also contributed to the ground game, carrying the ball 46 times for 347 yards, averaging 7.5 yards per rush. His impressive performances helped lead the Bulldogs to the 2022 College Football Playoff National Championship game, where they faced Alabama in a rematch. In a surprising move, Bennett decided to remain at Georgia instead of entering the draft, and in his fifth and final year as a senior in 2022, he played in 13 games. He had an outstanding season, throwing for 3430 yards on 395 attempts with a completion rate of 67.8% for an average of 8.7 yards per pass. He also recorded 20 TDs, 9 sacks, and a QB rating of 105.4. Additionally, he added 49 rushes for a total of 224 yards, averaging 4.6 yards per run. The Dynasty Football World Championships Orphans are now on sale! Concerns • Tends to hold the ball too long • Mechanics can disappear when under pressure and pushed off his spot • Tiny size at 5-11 and 190 lbs may make it challenging to stay healthy in the pocket, especially when not playing behind a strong offensive line • Arm strength is decent but lacks ideal strength, leading to accuracy issues when he can’t or won’t set his feet • Needs to work on lowering trajectory on deep throws, as some of his throws have too much air. Fantasy Outlook Bennett is barely being drafted in Dynasty Rookie drafts. He landed in a nice spot to learn and develop with the Rams but his physical limitations and stature may prove to be too much when it comes to being an NFL starter. Also, Bennett is already  25 years old. That won’t help his dynasty stock. Most likely, this will be another case of a very good college quarterback who simply doesn’t pan out the same way in the pros. That said, there is enough arm talent and leadership to justify rostering Bennett in Superflex dynasty leagues that have expansive rosters. Rookie Scouting Profile: Jonathan Mingo

Jonathan Mingo

FullTime Fantasy Rookie Scouting Profile: Jonathan Mingo Jonathan Mingo (WR) Ole Miss Height Weight 40-Time DOB NFL Draft Dynasty ADP NFL Comp 6-2 220 4.46 04/20/2001 Day 2 4.10 Anquan Boldin College Production A four-star, All-State recruit out of Brandon High in Branon, Mississippi. Mingo chose to remain home and enroll at Mississippi over Notre Dame, Arkansas, and Memphis. He caught 39 passes for 551 yards and four touchdowns in 2019 and 2020. Prior to his junior year, Mingo was named to Phil Steele’s preseason All-SEC second team but was limited to just six games with a broken left foot. He stayed healthy in his final season, starting 12 games and posting a 51/861/5 line. The Dynasty Football World Championships Orphans are now on sale! Click HERE to enter the Orphans lobby and get teams up to 50% OFF!  Strengths • Outstanding size and speed drew multiple comparisons to fellow Ole Miss WR DK Metcalf. • 96th percentile Speed Score, 91st percentile Burst Score, 91st percentile vert, and 92nd vert. • Strong, physical player who will win in contested catch situations. Also benched a massive 22 reps at the Combine (96th percentile). • Good route runner with better feet than expected for a player of his size. • Set a school record with 247 receiving yards (9 catches, 2 TDs). • One of only 5 wide receivers in this class with an RAS (relative athletic score) over 90. Concerns • Very modest numbers in four SEC seasons. • Below average agility and wing span (75 3/4) is quite small for a player who is 6-2, 220. • Doesn’t always get off the line with ease, particularly against tight press coverage. • 36th percentile three-cone. • Inconsistent hands. Fantasy Outlook Most draftniks had Jonathan Mingo as a potential Day 2 pick, but his selection at 2.08 as the WR5 was quite a surprise. There’s a lot to like about Mingo’s imposing frame. Also, he’s a tough, physical runner who has drawn comparisons to Anquan Boldin and Deebo Samuel. There’s also some Laviska Shenault to Mingo’s game, and as luck would have it, Mingo is now in Carolina with Shenault. After jettisoning D.J. Moore this offseason, the depth chart is wide open in Carolina. Mingo should open the season as a top-3 wideout with No. 1 WR potential. The early second-round draft value makes Mingo a screaming value in the fourth round. Expect his rookie ADP to fly up. He’s a player to also keep in mind as a late-round target for the rebuilding Carolina Panthers. Rookie Scouting Profile: Hendon Hooker

Hendon Hooker

FullTime Fantasy Rookie Scouting Profile: Hendon Hooker Hendon Hooker (QB) Tennessee Height Weight 40-Time DOB NFL Draft Dynasty ADP NFL Comp 6-3 217 4.77 01/13/1998 Late 1-2 5.02 Geno Smith College Production After winning a pair of state titles at Dudley High School in Greensboro, North Carolina, and accruing over 9,000 yards of offense, Hendon Hooker enrolled at Virginia Tech in 2018. Hooker didn’t attempt a pass in his redshirt freshman season but rushed for 57 yards and one TD. The following season, he started eight games, completing 61.1% of his passes for 1,555 yards and a 13-to-2 TD-to-INT ratio. The Hokies slipped to 5-6 in 2020 and Hooker chose to transfer to Tennessee, where his play blossomed. Hooker started 11 games in 2021 for the Volunteers, throwing for 2,945 yards, 31 touchdowns, and only two interceptions while rushing for 619 and another five scores. Following that, Hooker was added to the preseason Manning watch list and guided one of the nation’s top offenses before suffering a torn ACL against South Carolina. The Dynasty Football World Championships Orphans are now on sale! Click HERE to enter the Orphans lobby and get teams up to 50% OFF!  Strengths • Very good size and athleticism. Hooker stood out as both a dual-threat option and as a potentially accurate pocket passer who should be able to play in any scheme. • Averaged 11.1 adjusted yards per attempt and boasted a 58-to-5 TD-to-INT ratio with a 178.3 QB Rate at Tennessee. • Very accurate passer, particularly on short and intermediate throws. Avoids turnovers. • In 2022, ranked second in FBS with a 123.0 NFL QB Rating and led the nation with 9.5 passing yards per attempt. • Leadership, character, and football IQ stood out. Reports indicate Hooker aced his interviews with multiple NFL teams this spring. Concerns • Already 25 years old and is coming off of a torn ACL. • Accuracy wanes noticeably on deep throws. • Due to offense at Tennessee, Hooker could experience significant growing pains when having to learn to read and digest a full NFL field. • Throwing mechanics disintegrate when Hooker is forced to escape the pocket and improvise on the run. Fantasy Outlook If Hendon Hooker was healthy he would be talked up as a top-3 signal caller in this class. That would put him into contention for a top-5 overall pick. There is a lot to like about Hooker’s tape, but he is a tad old and there is the concern of the torn left ACL sustained in November. That makes Hooker a likely second-round target. However, it would not be a surprise to see a team trade up into the late 20s to nab him. Assuming he fully recovers from the knee injury and keeps his mobility, I think Hooker is a very good value in Superflex leagues, where he can sometimes be nabbed in Round 3. His redraft value is TBD, but Hendon Hooker has talent I believe in and is a player I want to park on my dynasty rosters.
