New York Islanders Lee – Barzal – Eberle St. Louis Blues Schwartz – Schenn – Tarasenko Montreal Canadiens Tatar – Suzuki – Gallagher   Value Line Stacks Arizona Coyotes Garland – Stepan – Keller Washington Capitals Vrana – Backstrom – Oshie   Top Goalies Carey Price (MTL) – As Price goes, the Canadiens go and he was dominant in the qualifying series against Pittsburgh. We’ve seen it time and time again in the playoffs if you can get a hot goaltender you have a very good chance to go far and that’s what the Habs have right now. Jordan Binnington (STL) – Much like most of the other teams during the round-robin, St. Louis basically sleepwalked through three games and Binnington was not good. Plain and simple. I expect him and the Blues to be much better as they’ve clearly been battle-tested while the younger Canucks might not be quite ready. Semyon Varlamov (NYI) – I like the Isles chances to hang with Washington and potentially upset them in this series. A lot of that will depend on the opening contest here tonight and Varlamov at $7200 brings some solid value. GOOD LUCK!!

CENTERS WINGS DEFENSE TOP $ Patrice Bergeron (BOS) Brayden Point (TB) David Pastrnak (BOS) * didn’t practice, expected to play Nikita Kucherov (TB) Shea Theodore (VGK) Seth Jones (CBJ) MID $ William Karlsson (VGK) Pierre-Luc Dubois (CBJ) Brad Marchand (BOS) Jonathan Marchessault (VGK) Cam Atkinson (CBJ) Torey Krug (BOS) Nate Schmidt (VGK) VALUE $ Boone Jenner (CBJ) Joe Pavelski (DAL) Kirby Dach (CHI) Reilly Smith (VGK) Nick Foligno (CBJ) Justin Williams (CAR) Duncan Keith (CHI) Erik Gustafsson (CGY) Calvin De Haan (CHI) Brandon Carlo (BOS)   Favorite Line Stacks *Note: Lines are subject to change depending on morning skate lines. Chicago played extremely well in their qualifying series against the fraudulent Edmonton Oilers and have the playoffs pedigree with Toews, Kane, Keith, and Crawford leading them. With all of that being said, in a game that should see some up and down action, I expect either MAF or Lehner to see a lot of work in net and be equal to the task; MAF with plenty of playoff experience and Lehner, a goalie who thrives with the more pucks he sees. Tuukka Rask (BOS) – Rask should bounce back after losing two games in the round-robin series when he faced Tampa and Washington respectively. Carolina is a solid team but they do lack consistent scoring and quality scoring chances at times but do get pucks to the net. I’ll back Rask here and expect Boston to get their act together after an overall piss-poor showing during the round-robin series losing all three games. GOOD LUCK!!

NHL DFS: Slap Shot – 8/6

Geriak remains without power so you get me again.  Good news is I went 5-0 on the picks yesterday.  Bad news is you get me again today I guess as Geriak is busy trying to chop tree’s down to get out of his neighborhood or something.  Either that or he’s still upset that he hasn’t played Joc Pederson this week in MLB DFS and is just at the pub pounding the beers … “Hurricane” in fucking Connecticut??  Who’s the sucker here?  I kid of course.   Favorite Line Stacks CAPS v FLYERS Nick Backstrom, T.J. Oshie, Jakub Vrana Country rooods.  They better play Oshie’s goal song when he scores today in what definitely is my favorite game of the day.  No Carter Hart for Philly today means lock in the over as the defenses in this game will not live up to their end of the bargain which is having to play good defense. The Capitals should remain without John Carlson as they are cautious without him — but even if he plays I expect this game to still be a high scoring affair as 7 of the last 10 meetings between these teams have hit the over.  While Ovechkin will certainly appeal as a top play and should prove valuable on the PP, it’s the Backstrom-Oshie-Vrana line that probably gets better scoring chances in 5v5 and has better value.   BLUE JACKETS Wennberg – Cam Atkinson – Folighno – Jones I know that they didn’t bring the Cannon into the Bubble up in Toronto, but this is a day we’re trading Americans in Canada for the NHL games and allowing the Canadiens to have their day in Baseball later today (a little tease for the Dongers Club but not what you are thinking).  Anyways, I really wanted to look at this game next because with Toronto evening the series at 1-1 and now Columbus getting the last line change I expect this game to be LOADED in favor of the Blue Jackets today.  Toronto is likely losing this series and got a little pressure off with a win in game two but all they did was piss off Torts to get his team fired up for today.  Then again, the only thing that stops this line from going off is Torts himself. Columbus D-Men is the key   ONE OFFS The roster construction today with me liking value from Washington and Columbus (man they’re cheap) is driving this to be a value combo/stack day + stud one offs.  Obviously Matthews and Ovechkin are your high end stars who always get bonuses and achieve value so you don’t need me to hype them up at all as one offs – but the game to look at is the other “round-robin” spot in this slate between Vegas and St. Louis.  Both teams are rested after shaking off the early rust and it’s Vegas who draws my attention as they’ve been able to dictate the style versus the Blues in prior meetings.  Marchessault had a whopping 11 SOG last time they met with both the prior meetings being extremely high scoring. Jonathan Marchessault Vlad Tarasenko – Only 14 MIN of ice time last game as he probably doesn’t quite have his legs under him yet (always a weird analogy, I mean, where else would someones legs be?) but obviously his goal scoring ability is still there.   TOP DEFENSEMAN Seth Jones / Zach Werenski (CBUS) Ivan Provorov (PHI) Alex Edler (VAN)   GOALIES Connor Hellebuyck – Jets … The Jets will stave off elimination if … Hellebuyck stands on his head and delivers them a 2-0 shutout.   SLAP SHOTS LINE LOCK OF THE DAY:    Backstrom – Oshie – Vrana (Caps) ONE OFF STUD WINGER:   Marchessault (Vegas) ONE OFF VALUE WINGER:   Travis Konecny (Flyers) TOP DEFENSEMAN:   Seth Jones (Jackets) BETS: Canucks/Wild – (UNDER 5.5) Caps over Flyers – (OVER 6) Knights over Blues (OVER 5.5) Blue Jackets over Leafs (No Play on Total) Jets over Flames  (UNDER 5.5)

Favorite Line Stacks Colorado Avalanche LINE LOCK:  Nathan MacKinnon, Mikko Rantanen, Andrei Burakovsky As the play in round series draw that do or die phase, I find myself liking a few of the round-robin spots today.  The Stars defense the

Revert to the chat and/or look for updates here for any impact they may have. New York Rangers Kreider – Zibanajad – Buchnevich Arizona Coyotes Hall – Dvorak – Kessel Vancouver Canucks Miller – Pettersson – Toffoli   Value Line Stacks Columbus Blue Jackets Foligno – Wennberg – Atkinson Winnipeg Jets Perreault – Eakin – Ehlers   Top Goalies Joonas Korpisalo (CBJ) – While Korpi looked great in net in game one, this continues to be more about Toronto’s issues. Whether it be a lack of motivation or god knows what else this team seems to disappoint more often than not. Can they explode for five goals? Absolutely, but I’ll side with the better defensive team and quite frankly the team with the better head coach. Darcy Kuemper (ARI) – Kuemper was stellar in game one as Arizona more or less pushed the Preds around early on. Kuemper has proven to be more than capable of this group and has had Nashville’s number in eating of his last three outings against the Preds. Igor Shesterkin / Henrik Lundqvist (NYR) – Whoever is in net for the Rangers tonight needs to be in desperation mode in a must-win situation and we can be assured that Carolina will continue to pump shots to the net as they’ve directed 37 and 34 pucks on net in the first two games.   GOOD LUCK!!

NHL DFS: Point Shot Cheat Sheet – 8/3

The first two days of the playoffs have been exciting and full of action. The idea of having hockey all day long is nothing short of fantastic and it all continues today.   CENTERS WINGS DEFENSE TOP $ Connor McDavid (EDM) Brayden Point (TB) Nikita Kucherov (TB) Alex Ovechkin (WSH) John Carlson (WSH) (questionable) Oscar Klefbom (EDM) MID $ Sean Monahan (CGY) William Karlsson (VGK) Brendan Gallagher (MTL) Johnny Gaudreau (CGY) Jonathan Marchessault (VGK) Shea Weber (MTL) Mark Giordano (CGY) Neal Pionk (WPG) VALUE $ Nick Suzuki (MTL) Kirby Dach (CHI) Tomas Tatar (MTL) Alex Debrincat (CHI) Jakub Vrana (WSH) Erik Gustafsson (CHI) Justin Schultz (PIT) Jeff Petry (MTL)   Favorite Line Stacks *Note: Lines are subject to change depending on morning skate lines. Revert to the chat and/or look for updates here for any impact they may have. Vegas Golden Knights Marchessault – Stastny – Smith Calgary Flames Gaudreau – Monahan – Lindholm Tampa Bay Lightning Palat – Point – Kucherov   Value Line Stacks Chicago Blackhawks Debrincat – Dach – Sikura Montreal Canadiens Tatar – Danault – Gallagher   Top Goalies Carey Price (MTL) – I’m going back to the well with Price after he delivered a stellar effort in game one of this series stopping 39 of 41 shots he faced. Price’s salary did go up a tad but he’s considered a high upside play. Robin Lehner (VGK) – The only concern I have with Lehner is that he doesn’t see a ton of shots. Outside of that, I expect Vegas to win this game and for Lehner to control the Golden Knights’ end. Mike Smith (EDM) – Smitty is very boom or bust and has been for years. This is the ultimate shoot for the upside play as he should see a lot of volume. How he handles those pucks to the net is the mystery. more thoughts on the netminders… I would expect Matt Murray (PIT) and Cam Talbot (CGY) to be the popular options in net tonight, neither of which I have any interest in playing. I generally lean towards a goalie that brings upside and can expect to see a lot of pucks on net. I don’t see that scenario from either Murray or Talbot and their price tags help solidify my decision.   GOOD LUCK!!

NHL DFS: Point Shot Cheat Sheet – 8/2

I’m focusing on the main slate on Draftkings here which is the full five-game set. FanDuel is splitting the two slates with two early games and three late games. I prefer playing on DK personally so that’s where my focus will generally be but these plays are valid for both sites, slate dependant of course.   CENTERS WINGS DEFENSE TOP $ Auston Matthews (TOR) Patrice Bergeron (BOS) David Pastrnak (BOS) Mitch Marner (TOR) Alex Pietrangelo (STL) Zach Werenski (CBJ) MID $ Bo Horvat (VAN) Pierre-Luc Dubois (CBJ) Taylor Hall (ARI) Claude Giroux (PHI) Vladimir Tarasenko (STL) Alex Edler (VAN) Morgan Rielly (TOR) VALUE $ Derek Stepan (ARI) Matt Duchene (NSH)   Cam Atkinson (CBJ) Ondrej Kase (BOS) Phil Kessel (ARI) Quinn Hughes (VAN) Brad Hunt (MIN) Erik Johnson (COL)   Favorite Line Stacks *Note: Lines are subject to change depending on morning skate lines. Revert to the chat and/or look for updates here for any impact they may have. Toronto Maple Leafs Nylander – Matthews – Marner Boston Bruins Marchand – Bergeron – Pastrnak Arizona Coyotes Hall – Dvorak – Kessel   Value Line Stacks Nashville Predators Turris – Duchene – Granlund Vancouver Canucks Pearson – Horvat – Boeser   Top Goalies Jordan Binnington (STL) – Binnington has been battle-tested and stood tall in the past for a very good defensive team overall in the Blues. Outside of the top line and Cale Makar on the blue line, Colorado I feel is limited offensively. If St. Louis can neutralize the 420 line, I like Binnington’s chances of producing a rock-solid effort. Darcy Kuemper (ARI) – Kuemper is priced down and should see a good amount of shots. This game will depend a lot on which Nashville team shows up. The heavy offensively talented group or the fraudulent, inconsistent team that we’ve seen time and time again. Freddy Andersen (TOR) – Look for Andersen to see a ton of shots because as we’ve seen in the past, Toronto tends to yield a ton of shots with their leaky defense. I don’t love Andersen’s price tag but the high-save upside is there.   GOOD LUCK!!

KBO DFS – Fri May 8th

As we all continue to anxiously wait for MLB to return, we continue to have baseball in the form of the KBO, which I’ve actually enjoyed to be honest. The tricky aspect of our new-found DFS sport will continue to be lineup confirmation coming in the very early morning hours. With that said, here’s my view of the Friday, May 8th slate.   Today’s Games Yellow Highlighted Team Is Favored Away Pitcher DK $ Home Pitcher DK $ KT Wiz Hyeong Jun So $4,000 Doosan Bears (-190) Hee Kwan Yoo $8,500 Hanwha Eagles Min Jae Jang $8,500 Kiwoom Heroes (-170) Seung Ho Lee $8,000 SK Wyverns (-120) Seung Won Moon $8,200 Lotte Giants Kyung Eun Noh $6,500 LG Twins (-115) Tyler Wilson $7,800 NC Dinos Jae Hak Lee $9,800 KIA Tigers (-145) Drew Gagnon $7,000 Samsung Lions Chae Heung Choi $5,000   Pitchers Tyler Wilson (LG Twins) We want pitchers that go deep and show damage control. Strikeout upside is a bonus, of course and Wilson has all of the above-mentioned traits. As long as Wilson doesn’t have a shortened pitch count (he was in quarantine for 14 days thus starting the season late), we can expect the righty to pitch deep. Last season in 30 starts Wilson tossed 185 innings with a 6.7 K/9. The season prior over 26 starts he posted a 7.9 K/9 over 170 innings. He’s kept the ball in the ballpark over his first two seasons in the KBO as well, thus, limiting damage. Seung Ho Lee (Kiwoom Heros) 20-year-old Seung Ho Lee had some rocky outings early on last season but ended up tossing 14 quality tarts an allowed just one earned run over his final 18 innings of the year. While the K upside might not jump off the page here, consider that Lee is in a good spot as a favorite for a good offensive team it seems in the Heroes. Drew Gagnon (KIA Tigers) Former Met “great” in the majors, Gagnon (was not actually great in the majors over his two seasons) is a 29-year-old who did have some success in the minor in the Mets’ organization. In 2019 at triple-A he held opponents to a .230 batting average in 15 starts spanning 88.2 innings with 107 strikeouts and 17 walks and had a WHIP of 1.07. The year prior at the triple-A level when the Mets’ affiliate was still playing in the Las Vegas (the PCL) where the ball flies and all of the stadiums are bandboxes, Gagnon’s numbers, although inflated considering the circumstances, were still respectable as far as peripherals go over 157.2 innings. At $7,800 for a pitcher, who’s team is favored, expect him to be somewhat popular but an arm to consider nonetheless.   Batting Targets Doosan Bears The defending KBO champs facing an 18-year-old in his league debut seems like a good spot to start with bats on this slate. Doosan has scored 14 runs over there last two games while pounding out 14 hits in their last game. Jose Fernandez (1B/2B), Jae il Oh (1B), and Jae Hwan Kim (1B/OF) have all gotten off to good starts this season and are the projected 2, 3, and 4 hitters. Jae Ho Kim (SS) is a good value at $3,300, has five hits in his last nine at-bats, and was in the six-hole in the Bears’ last game. Kiwoom Heroes I’ve been on the Heroes train quite heavily early on and it’s been both successful and gut-wrenching. Facing Min Jae Jang who has some strikeout upside but the propensity to get into trouble with traffic on the bases as last year he suffered from a 5.43 ERA in 22 starts and was able to toss just seven quality starts. Kiwoom was the best offense in the KBO last year by far and I expect them to start flexing their muscles much as they did in their first game when the recorded 11 runs. Byung Ho Park (1B), Ha Seong Kim (SS), and Keon Chang Seo (1B/2B) are three bats to start with Seo being a great value near the top of the order. Jung Ho Lee (OF) is another bat in the middle of the lineup, but consider that he’s not a big power-bat rather a high-average doubles guy with some speed. Definitely someone worthwhile in a stack as he’s the three-hitter for Kiwoom.   One-off Bats C: Sang Ho Chung (NC Dinos) 1B: Dae Ho Lee (Lotte Giants) 2B: Min Hyeok Kim (KT Wiz) 3B: Jeong Choi (KT Wiz) SS: Sun Bin Kim (KIA Tigers) OF: Sung Bum Na (NC Dinos), Hyung Woo Choi (KIA Tigers)   Good Luck!!
