CFL DFS: Week 16

Week 15 Review: For once, the usually reliable SSK defense let me down last week and the worst part was that it happened in the best matchup they had almost all season long! Collaros did a great job distributing the ball and getting 2 passing touchdowns while Naaman Roosevelt continues to be his top target in the offense. Fading Andrew Harris worked but it was only due to him getting injured and having to exit the game early. Time to look ahead towards this upcoming week! Week 16 QB Bo Levi Mitchell is my favorite quarterback on this slate and for obvious reasons. His team is just coming off a bye week, so they are rested and ready to go and draw a very favorable matchup against Toronto. Looking at their previous matchup this season, BLM went 20-22 for 297 yards and 1 touchdown which accrued 27 DK points. With all the injuries that are occurring to his receiving corps, Mitchell is taking it upon himself to move this offense through the air. Over his last 4 games, he has attempted 140 passing attempts which is the most for him this season. The Argonauts are still struggling defending the pass, averaging 308 passing yards and 3 passing touchdowns allowed in each of their last 3 games. BLM is my favorite quarterback this week! Jonathon Jennings really came on strong last week in place of Travis Lulay and he draws the same matchup this week against Hamilton. Jennings struggled earlier this season but excelled last week, going 32-47 for 346 yards and 3 touchdowns….Those are Mike Reilly stats! Hamilton has been off against the pass, allowing 40 passing attempts, 316 passing yards and over 2 passing touchdowns per game. If you are looking for some salary relief, he could be your guy this week. He is right behind BLM on my QB depth chart for this week. Mike Reilly is always worth a consideration for your lineups even at the high price point of $11,800. He is risky just because if he doesn’t produce, it is tough to win gpps. Looking at his last 4 games, he has eclipsed 30 DK points in 2 of those games and has also produced 2 games under 25 DK points. In this same matchup against Winnipeg, he threw for 408 passing yards while hitting 40 DK points. Now granted, that was the first game of the season, but I don’t see Mike Reilly having a bad game in this matchup, especially with game being played at home in Edmonton. RB William Stanback is looking to be the guy now moving forward in Montreal. Sutton was just traded to BC so this move leaves the door wide open for Stanback to become an even more important piece in this Alouettes offense. He is only $5,700 which is a great value for this week. He does face a pesky SSK defense, but they have been struggling against the run recently. When looking at their last 3 game average against the run, Saskatchewan is allowing 109 rushing yards and 1.3 touchdowns per game which is not very good. For his price and the amount of run he should be getting, I think he is a solid play overall this weekend. With Alex Green going on the IR, John White looks to emerge as the main running back for Hamilton. He saw 19 carries against BC while rushing for 62 yards, so he was heavily involved in their offensive game plan. White is $5,400 so he also allows for some tremendous salary relief if you are looking to pay down at the running back position. Don Jackson is listed as questionable, but he is my favorite running back this week. He has been dealing with an ankle injury, but it looks like he was able to practice Monday which is a good sign! Toronto has been awful against the run, allowing 139 yards per game in their most recent 3 game stretch and the game script should be in Calgary’s favor. If they get up to a big lead, they should look to Jackson to close out the game! WR I will be looking to stack my quarterbacks with some of their wide receivers this week. With Mitchell, the best wide receiver to use is Reggie Begelton. Begelton over the last 3 games, has seen 26 targets and has 362 yards receiving. The Stampeders have really been bitten by the injury bug but Begelton is emerging as a top target for BLM. Other receivers that could be looked at is Marken Michel (Has had 3 double digit DK performances in 3 games) and Juwan Brescacin who is just $4,300. Jennings threw the ball all over Hamilton last week, so we definitely should look at some of his receivers this week. Burnham has been excelling ever since he took over the lead receiving role when Manny Arceneaux went down for the season. He is on the pricier side at $8,900 but he is worth at looking to put in your lineups. He has seen 36 targets over the last 4 games, so the Lions are making him a focal point on offense. Ricky Collins Jr. surprisingly has seen more targets over that same 4 game period (39 targets) but has not produced as consistently as Burnham. On a cheaper end, a good gpp play could be the newly acquired Devier Posey. He saw 7 targets in just his 2nd game of the year so it seems like they will try to get him the ball moving forward! Duke Williams is always in consideration every slate, especially pairing with Reilly. This is a tougher matchup with Winnipeg being a tougher overall defense, but we have seen this Eskimos offense succeed regardless of the matchup. The best value on the board is Bryant Mitchell and I will continue to use him every week! He has really taken over Derel Walker’s role in this offense and he is still
CFL DFS: Week 15

Week 14 Review: The CFL season is starting to wind down so things are starting to get a little tougher. Pipkin failed us last week so that means Manziel is going to get the start this week. Romar Morris got the start and he proved to be a very good running back play. Burnham balled out again showing his value in this BC Lions offense while Reggie Begelton is emerging in this Stampeders offense. Let’s get after it this week! Week 15 QB Trevor Harris is the quarterback that I would pay up for this week. He draws a good matchup against the Eskimos defense who has struggled containing the pass. Just looking at the last 3 games for their defense, they have allowed 41 attempts per game (Ranked last in the CFL), 394 yards passing per game (Ranked last in the CFL) and have allowed 2 passing touchdowns per game (almost last in the CFL). Obviously, teams are recognizing this and exposing the Eskimos through the air. When Harris is on, he is one of the best pure passers in the league and I hope he takes advantage of a good matchup this week! Zach Collaros has burned me several times, but I am not afraid to try him again. He is priced way down at $8,200 and could be a good value. The problem is that Saskatchewan plays such physical defense and try to grind out games via the run, it is difficult for him to rack up the fantasy points through the air. Toronto is a team that we have been targeting all year long through the air, so I figured if there was a time to use Collaros, it would be now! Over their last 3 games, they have allowed 331 passing yards per game and over 2 passing touchdowns per game so hopefully this easy matchup could result in Collaros racking up some fantasy points for us. RB William Powell will be my main running back for this week. He has been on fire as of late, posting 20+ DK performances in 3 of his last 4 games. He has been seeing 17 or more touches in 4 straight games and has been getting 2+ receptions in each of those games as well. Edmonton does not do well against the run, allowing 121 yards on the ground and averaging 1 rushing touchdown over their last 3 games. I’ll be locking Powell into my lineup and moving on! I personally think Jeremiah Johnson will be more involved in this weekend’s matchup. Travis Lulay went down with an injury last game and even though Jonathan Jennings came in and played a solid game last week, I think the Lions will try to grind this game out on the ground. Hamilton has been stingy in terms of rushing yards allowed, only allowing 91 yards on the ground over their last 3 games, but they have giving up over 1 rushing touchdown per game in that same span. Johnson is more of a tournament play this week so make sure to grab a share if you end up making multiple lines. Anytime you see a red Q appear next to someone’s name, but they look healthy to play, you know you might get him at a little bit lower ownership. That is the case when it comes to CJ Gable! Gable was back at practice this past week and seems like he will be able to play against Ottawa this weekend. Gable has been a consistent performer when he is in the lineup and he has been able to get double digit DK points in his last 4 games. The Redblacks defense is allowing some yardage to opposing backs so this could be a game where Gable is relied on a bit more. If news comes out later on that Gable is unable to give it a go, pivot to Shaq Cooper who is only $4,700. WR I will be looking to pair some Ottawa receivers this week with Harris in some of my stacks. Spencer has been killing it lately from a DK fantasy standpoint, so he will be one of the better overall gpp options from this team. I also like using Greg Ellingson anytime I role out Trevor Harris in a line. He has been the most target receiver over the past 3 games so definitely look his way if you are making an Ottawa stack. If you are wanting cheap exposure to this offense, look to either RJ Harris or Dominic Rhymes who are both under 5k! I think it would be smart to run that stack back with some Edmonton receivers. Duke Williams is always in play since he is the best overall receiver in the league! The best value on the Edmonton side of the ball is Bryant Mitchell who should be popular for good reason. He is the second most targeted receiver in some of their more recent games and he is cheap. Brandon Banks has been on fire lately and I do not think he is slowing down anytime soon. He does have a red Q next to his name, so we will have to monitor his status heading into this weekend’s matchup. If Brandon Banks is out, Luke Tasker become a plug and play kind of guy. I like both receivers in this matchup and if you were wanting a lower owned play with some upside, Rashad Lawrence could be your guy. He has been getting targeted lately and his price sits at just $3,500! From the Roughriders perspective, the solid WR play will always be Naaman Roosevelt. He tends to see the steadiest number of targets on a consistent basis and he is leaned on heavily in this offense. His price is just $6,300 which I really like this week! The other SSK receiver that deserves a mention is Jordan Williams-Lambert. He can get double digit DK points for you, but I view him as a major gpp

Kick off week 14 of the CFL season
CFL DFS: Week 13 Preview

Week 12 Review: Week 12 was a very good week overall for CFL. The Ottawa chalk did not hit so if you did not play Harris, your lines had a chance. Hamilton went off and we see a repeat of 3 games this week, so this should be a little easier to distinguish the plays for this upcoming week. We saw some big-name players go down with injury so week 13 should be filled with some strong value options. Week 13 QB Masoli is the top QB on the slate in terms of price and he is my top QB play for this week! Masoli just torched this Toronto defense, throwing for 385 yards and 3 touchdowns. Toronto has been one of the worst passing defenses all season long so the trend to pick on their passing defense continues. He lost one of his top receivers last week in Jalen Saunders, but I think pairing him with Banks or Tasker can be a very good strategy for this weekend’s slate! I think Bo Levi Mitchell is one of the better options at the QB position this week. He had a very average game last week throwing for 255 yards and 1 touchdown, but more will be asked of him this week since they will be on the road in Edmonton. BLM does offer some salary relief if you are not wanting to pay up for Masoli and he can get to 20+ DK points. Edmonton’s pass defense has been stingy in the red zone allowing only 1 touchdown per game over the last 3 games, but they have also been giving up yardage, allowing 302 yards per game in that same stretch. I think he could be a good pivot if not wanting to spend up. The only downside to using BLM is that he could be without running back Don Jackson and star wide receiver Kamar Jorden who both suffered injuries last game. RB Alex Green has been the most consistent fantasy player over the past several weeks. He has 7 rushing touchdowns in just 4 games so obviously Hamilton is committed to Green as their lead back in addition committing to the run game. Green is still under priced min my opinion since he is still under 8k, so this is an easy plug and play. He should see a high volume this week since they should be able to get up early on Toronto and then run the ball in the second half of the game. Don Jackson/ Terry Williams/ Romar Morris- Don Jackson was spotted in a walking boot after tweaking his ankle last weekend. If he is out, we could see some extreme value open up with either Terry Williams or Romar Morris taking over the starting running back spot for this game this weekend. Williams is only $4,100 and allows you to really have options when it comes to the rest of your lineup construction. Morris is not listed in the DK player pool so pay attention to the Calgary depth chart when it comes out on Friday! If you are looking for a play that will be lower owned, you could take a stab at Jeremiah Johnson. Johnson when healthy has been a very tough match for most defenses. He has a powerful running style and is a threat to catch the ball out of the backfield. Ottawa has been allowing opposing running backs to get some yardage on them, averaging 117 yards per game over their last 3 games so Johnson could be a good option to get around the herd this weekend. WR (Should be a fun week to use them!) Normally I do not take opposing wide receivers against the Calgary defense but for this week, I will make an exception! Derel Walker suffered an injury and it sounds like he will not be good to go for this upcoming weekend. Duke Williams will have to step up and be the top guy which means play him! (The way Renner feels about Junis and the way Rose feels about Mikolas in MLB is the way I feel about Duke Williams right about now). With Walker going down, this also creates some opportunities for Stafford but even more importantly, Bryant Mitchell! If Mitchell gets the start, I will be using him as my value play for the weekend. The Hamilton wide receiving options have become simple over the past couple of weeks. Play Banks and play Tasker! Masoli is relying on these two targets the most so no need to overthink it. They are both coming off big weeks and get the same matchup so make sure to get one of these guys in your lineup! If you are in a large gpp field and want to be different, take a stab on Mike Jones. Calgary can offer some other unique options for this weekend as well. Jorden went down with an injury and he will most likely be out so Davaris Daniels will be the big-name target for the Stamps. His price has jumped up, so we will need a 20+ point outing from him to keep up with some of the bigger named receivers if you decide to go this route. Reggie Begelton could be inserted back into the starting lineup, so he could be another value option down at $3,700. Other receivers that can be used as one-offs could be Kevin Elliott from BC and Jordan Williams-Lambert from SSK. Elliott is priced in the low 5k range and has been one of the top targets for this Lions offense over the past few weeks. Williams-Lambert’s price has increased since he has posted 3 straight double-digit performances, so he can be relied on as a solid option for this Roughriders offense. If wanting exposure to Ottawa, Ellingson is finally seeing a strong number of targets but with all 3 receiving options healthy, it is tough to pinpoint who will get fed in that Redblacks offense.
CFL DFS: Week 12

Week 11 Review: Last week was a weird week in all honesty. The Toronto chalk failed horribly, and Calgary went off. Pipkin had himself another solid fantasy outing leading the Alouettes to a win, so I am curious to see if he will get that start for this week! Kamar Jorden reminded us that he is a top WR option in this league by posting 42.9 DK points which is insane!!! Let’s see if we can right the ship for this week. Week 12 QB The popular play of the week will be Trevor Harris against Montreal, but I am going to lessen my exposure to him this week based on pricing. Harris is the top QB this week, priced at $11,600. In this same matchup a few weeks back, he was $10,700 and he only went for 25 DK points. In the same matchup in week 4, he was below 10k and put up 30 DK points. For me, the pricing is what is making this a tough play and if he only goes out there and gets you 25 DK points this week, that might not be enough the price that you are paying. We will need Harris to go for 300+ yards and 3 touchdowns to pay off this salary! I do think Jeremiah Masoli is in a good spot if you are wanting to pivot and save some money for the top tier qbs. He is priced at $11,300 and offers similar upside that you would get with Trevor Harris in his matchup. Toronto has struggled against the pass and is just coming off a heartbreaking defensive performance in losing to Pipkin and the Alouettes. No offense to Montreal, but if Pipkin can throw for over 300 yards against this defense, I really think Masoli will be able to do the same this week! Antonio Pipkin has been named the starting qb this week for Montreal and I think he could be in play as a cheap gpp flier. He is only 8k and in both of his performances this year, he has gone for 19 and 29 DK points. He has been named the starter and it seems like this Alouettes team has been rallying behind him. One thing that Pipkin has been doing is gaining yards in both the air and on the ground as well as scoring on the ground. Ottawa does have a g stingy defense but it Pipkin can use his legs in this matchup, it might soften up the secondary a bit and keep the defense on their heels. RB Don Jackson is way too cheap for the matchup he is in. He is priced at $6,300 and draws a favorable matchup against an Eskimos defense which has been in the lower half of the league when facing the run. They are tied for last in terms of rushing touchdowns allowed with 14, so that is averaging a little over 1 per game. I think for the price and matchup, Jackson is a very solid lock for both cash and GPP plays. For the more expensive running backs, I think William Powell is in a great spot. He is $7,900 and dominated the Alouettes a few weeks back. Montreal has allowed the most yards on the ground this season but surprisingly, they have done a great job in limiting touchdowns on the ground, only allowing 8 all season long. I still feel confident in rolling out Powell as my high-priced running back for this week and using the salary savings on another position! Alex Green has been extremely consistent, and I am happy to see his price still below 8k. He has seen 50 rushing attempts since being inserted into the starting lineup so with that volume and workload, it is hard to pass up. Toronto has allowed yards but just like Montreal, they have only allowed 8 rushing touchdowns all season long. Hopefully, we can see Green catch one out of the backfield and take one to the house! WR Kamar Jorden has been on fire ever since Eric Rogers went down with his injury. Over the span of 3 games, he has seen 25 targets and caught over 500 yards receiving! His price is up there at $10,200 but he has gone for over 30+ DK points in 2 out of the last 4 games. I think he will continue to be fed the ball throughout the coming weeks and he is in play this week. Also, Davaris Daniels makes for a great play as well if needing salary relief and wanting exposure to this game. Ottawa is tricky this week since we are not getting the discount on them like we did a few weeks back. I do think Ellingson is in play, especially after going off for 25 SK points last time they played Montreal. The one drawback is pricing since he is $8,800 this time around. The other Ottawa receiver I have interest in is Dominique Rhymes at $4,600 and I think this is the best spot for salary relief. He has put up double digit DK performances in back to back games and has had 5+ receptions in both of those games as well. Hamilton has been tricky to navigate through for the receivers the past few weeks. Chris Williams was lost for the season due to an Achilles injury, so Mike Jones has slid into a starting receiver role. Banks was a huge let down last week, but I do not see him replicating that poor performance this week, so I do think he is a safe top tier play. Jalen Saunders was a late scratch last week, so a bunch of targets went to Luke Tasker who had himself a game! Tasker ended up being a great security blanket and if Saunders is another late scratch, I will look to plug him into my lines. Some one-off kind of plays could be Geno Lewis of Montreal or
CFL Week 9 DFS Breakdown

This past week was kind of an odd one. My fav. QB play in Trevor Harris hit value but he was shown up by Masoli and even worse….McLoud Bethel-Thompson. The Redblacks defense really let me down and allowed Args owners rack up points between Bethel-Thompson, Wilder and SJ green going off in the second half. I faded Reilly which proved to be a good move. Walker was the guy to have this week from Edmonton while Duke Williams saw a lot of attention from stud SSK defensive back, Ed Gainey. Hamilton did exactly what I thought they would and that was go “HAM” on Montreal. Unfortunately, they did not call off the attack dogs even when the game was out of reach. Calgary once again looked sound in all facets of their game on Saturday and Kamar Jorden looked to be the go to guy with Rogers going on the 6-game injured list. Time to move onto week 9!
CFL DFS – Week 8 Picks

Week 7 Review: Very up and down week. Reilly and Williams went off and that ended up being the chalky pairing of the week. I wasn’t expecting ownership to be that high on that pairing, but they have been the best QB/WR tandem in the league so far this year.
