2025 Las Vegas Raiders Preview Perhaps no team needed a total cultural change as badly as the Las Vegas Raiders. Mission accomplished. Enter first-time general manager John Spytek, the former assistant GM in Tampa and an integral part of Tampa’s top-5 2025 NFL Draft haul. On the sidelines, the Raiders hired a proven coach in Pete Carroll. Collectively, the new regime feels like their rebuild began last season, and 2025 is prime for a new era. Refreshingly, an era of optimism. The first order of business for the club was trading for Carroll’s former quarterback, Geno Smith. Smith quietly threw for a career-best 4,320 yards and a 70.4 percent completion rate in 2024. He will bring much-needed stability to a woefully inadequate position since the franchise released Derek Carr ahead of the 2023 season. Smith is unlikely to post top-10 fantasy numbers with this supporting cast, but he can be a reliable streamer with week-to-week QB upside. No. 6 overall pick Ashton Jeanty profiles as the next great RB1 for years to come. Jeanty is a three-down workhorse with elite tackle-breaking ability, strong contact balance, and superb vision. He led the nation in yards after contact twice, including a record-shattering 1,970 in 2024. And the fit couldn’t have been better. The Raiders had very little depth in the backfield, assuring Jeanty will get all the work he can handle on his compact frame. Instant first-round RB1. WR Jakobi Meyers finished as the WR20 after setting career-best marks in targets (129), receptions (87), and receiving yards (1,027). Meyers once again proved to be a savvy mid-round draft value but remains a WR2 masquerading as a team’s WR1. The 2025 NFL Draft brought more depth to a receiving corps needing a youth infusion. Second-rounder Jack Bech is a favorite of the dynasty football community with sticky hands coming off a Senior Bowl MVP performance. Bech can also be employed all over the field. Fourth-rounder Dont’e Thornton is huge (6-5, 214) and is a dark horse to push Tre Tucker for playing time. Brock Bowers burst onto the scene, breaking the rookie reception record and becoming the second consecutive (after Sam LaPorta) first-year player to lead the tight end position in fantasy scoring. His 153 targets were third in the NFL, and he caught fewer than three balls only once.. And he didn’t just make an impression on fantasy managers, but also on his new signal-caller Smith, who told The Athletic that Bowers “is one of the best tight ends in the league already, and I still think he’s got so much room to improve. A big part of my job is to help him do that.” Bowers was a league winner last season and will be the top-ranked tight end in every format. Fantasy Grade: C QB Smith, Geno, LVR [QB1] Reunited and it feels so good. When the Raiders plucked Pete Carroll out of retirement, one of the first orders of business for Carroll was to engineer a trade for his old quarterback, Geno Smith. Carroll recognized the potential in Smith in Seattle. In two years together, Smith posted QB5 and QB19 numbers. Last year, without Carroll, Smith threw for a career-high 4,320 yards and thrived throwing the ball 20-plus yards, a staple of Raiders’ offenses. Smith brings stability and leadership to a young Las Vegas roster and projects to quietly be a solid QB2. ADVICE: Underrated QB2 who can be a decent streaming option week-to-week. RB Jeanty, Ashton, LVR [RB1] Here are the categories that Ashton Jeanty led in FBS in 2024: attempts (313), rushing yards (2,287), TDs (28), yards after contact (5.42/att.), missed tackles forced (125), first downs (106), and breakaway yards (1,247). These world-class metrics are indicative of how dominant Jeanty was at Boise State and why he’s considered the best incoming rookie rusher since Saquon Barkley. And as luck would have it, Jeanty landed in the perfect spot as Pete Carroll’s next Marshawn Lynch. Jeanty is a three-down workhorse who could lead the league in touches in his first season. ADVICE: Every bit worthy of a first-round selection in every fantasy format. RB Mostert, Raheem, LVR [RB2] ADVICE: Aging veteran won’t see much of a role playing behind Ashton Jeanty. Mostert is relegated to a handcuff role for fantasy managers lucky enough to land Jeanty in Round One. WR Meyers, Jakobi, LVR [WR1] Sleeper Jakobi Meyers was one of fantasy’s unheralded stars last season. Meyers had 10 games with nine or more targets, eclipsed 1,000 receiving yards for the first time, and finished as the WR20 overall. Meyers had the most targets (126) without a drop in the league last season. Since moving to the Raiders, Meyers has run 69.8 percent of his routes from the perimeter after being used inside in New England. However, a new coach, a first-round running back, and added target competition are obstacles that will make repeating those outstanding numbers challenging. ADVICE: Remains an underrated value in the middle rounds who provides a steady source of targets and receptions. WR Bech, Jack, LVR [WR2] Sleeper Jack Bech’s older brother, Tiger Bech, was killed in the New Orleans terrorist attack on New Year’s Eve. Jack, wearing his brother’s No.7 jersey, then won Senior Bowl MVP with a walk-off TD grab. In addition to that inspirational moment, Bech has good size (6-1, 214), sticky hands, outstanding ball tracking skills, and uses leverage well. He had a 62/1,034/9 season at TCU in 2024 that resulted in Second-team All-Big 12 accolades. Bech also landed in a great location with a Raiders’ offense that needed a youth infusion. Bech profiles as a reliable possession receiver. ADVICE: Bech’s hands, ability to create space, and opportunity make him one of the top late-round sleeper wideouts. WR Tucker, Tre, LVR [WR3] ADVICE: Tucker has made strides in each of his two seasons. As we get closer to this month’s NFL Draft, the buzz around trades and teams locking in their most coveted prospect targets is impacting both the fantasy football landscape as well as several popular betting markets. Among the biggest rumors is the Las Vegas Raiders selecting former Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty with the No. 6 overall pick. We previously highlighted back on March 4 that Jeanty was strongly linked by the experts in the desert to land with the Dallas Cowboys at odds of +260 in their initial offering. Raiders GM’s Comments Shift Jeanty’s Betting Odds Last week, while appearing on SiriusXM NFL Radio, Raiders General Manager John Spytek shared that his 10-year-old son Jack’s draft wish for the Silver and Black is predicated upon fantasy football and touchdowns. My oldest son has made it no secret, if we do not pick Ashton Jeanty at six, that he is walking out of the family and he is gonna find somebody else. Probably whoever takes Ashton. Over the last several days, the Raiders, who were once offered as high as +450 to land Jeanty, are now the prohibitive favorite to land his services at -150 at DraftKings Sportsbook (as of April 24, 2025). Jeanty’s Fantasy Football Value Soars Amid Raiders Rumors Fantasy football managers are jockeying to land the Maxwell and Doak Walker Award winner, who rushed for 4,769 rushing yards while scoring 56 total touchdowns in three seasons for the Broncos. The prospect of landing in Sin City with the Raiders has resulted in the 2024 Heisman Trophy runner-up catapulting up to back-end RB1 status. With an overall ADP in the early 30s (RB11-14) in early Fantasy Football World Championships (FFWC) drafts, it’s clear that managers are enamored with the projection of landing with a RB-needy Raiders offense. Last season, Las Vegas’ woeful ground game ranked last in the league in rushing yards (1,357), yards per carry (3.6), and rushing first downs (78). Adding a player of Jeanty’s caliber would instantly improve a Raiders offense that recently acquired veteran quarterback Geno Smith. Could the Jets Snag Jeanty If the Raiders Pass? While my first instinct was to dismiss the story of Jack giving his dad an ultimatum that would actually impact the team’s draft strategy, it’s clear that the betting markets and fantasy community are taking it quite seriously. On Sunday, ESPN’s Rich Cimini shared that if the Raiders were to pass on Jeanty, he believes he wouldn’t last past the Jets at pick No. 7. We have three running backs on this team that we’re gonna utilize as much as possible. Aaron Glenn As we highlighted last week, new Jets head coach Aaron Glenn recently told reporters the above, referencing the talents of Braelon Allen and Isaiah Davis. This was one of the reasons Hall now ranks as an overvalued, risky pick due to his running back ADP range of 6-10. Navigating the Tea Leaves
As each season’s draft approaches, we often see massive line movements. This is especially the case after the Scouting Combine and when prospective rookies have their Pro Day workouts.

Hailing from Jacksonville, Florida, Jeanty made an immediate impact as a true freshman in 2022, rushing for 821 yards and 7 touchdowns on 156 carries (5.3 YPC) in a shared backfield. His sophomore campaign in 2023 elevated his profile, with 1,347 yards and 14 touchdowns on 220 carries (6.1 YPC), plus 43 receptions for 569 yards and 5 receiving touchdowns—tops among FBS running backs that year. Ward’s decision on whether to participate in throwing drills will be critical. A strong session could solidify him as a top-10 pick, potentially landing him with a team like the Tennessee Titans or New York Giants, where he’d have Malik Nabers to boost his fantasy value. Look for his arm strength and accuracy in intermediate throws—his bread and butter. Shedeur Sanders (Colorado) – Sanders is a polished pocket passer with elite accuracy and poise, throwing for 3,926 yards and 35 touchdowns in 2024. His pedigree as Deion Sanders’ son adds intrigue. However, his stats speak for themselves. He’s a near-lock for a high draft pick, making him a prime fantasy QB2 candidate. Sanders isn’t expected to run a blazing 40. But his accuracy and timing will appeal to the QB-needy teams near the top of the 2025 NFL Draft order. A true leader with the ‘clutch’ gene and bravado, Sanders is likely to start immediately in the NFL. However, Sanders will not throw at the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine. Interested fantasy managers must wait to see what occurs at Colorado’s Pro Day. Sleeper Jaxson Dart (Ole Miss) – Dart showcased elite talent in his final college season, throwing for 4,279 yards, 29 touchdowns, and just six interceptions. His dual-threat ability shone with 452 rushing yards and four scores, making him a dynamic playmaker. Dart’s arm strength, quick release, and mobility highlight his potential as a top 2025 NFL Draft prospect. In fantasy football, his high-volume passing and rushing upside mirror quarterbacks like a young Dak Prescott, offering significant fantasy potential. With experience in Lane Kiffin’s explosive offense, Dart’s fantasy stock is rising. Running Backs Ashton Jeanty (Boise State) – Jeanty is the consensus RB1, racking up an absurd 2,497 rushing yards and 29 touchdowns in 2024. His blend of power, speed, and receiving ability (43 catches) screams three-down back, a fantasy goldmine. Jeanty’s opting out of workouts, but his resume speaks for itself. A first-round landing spot with a run-heavy team like the Las Vegas Raiders, Chicago Bears, or Dallas Cowboys would make him a top-12 fantasy RB as a rookie. Omarion Hampton (North Carolina) – Hampton’s explosiveness (1,863 yards, 15 TDs in 2024) and home-run ability make him a tantalizing prospect. He’s not Jeanty, but he’s a strong RB2 candidate with plenty of upside. Also, he’s a solid pass-catcher who reeled in 38 grabs last fall. With Jeanty sitting out, Hampton has a chance to shine. A good 40 time and effort in agility drills showcasing his burst could lock him into Round 1, boosting his fantasy stock. Cam Skattebo (Arizona State) – Skattebo’s rugged, downhill style (1,582 yards, 19 TDs) and surprising agility for his 5-11, 225-pound frame make him a sleeper. Also, his 52 receptions in 2024 add PPR appeal. A strong showing in the three-cone drill and broad jump could elevate him from a Day 3 pick into Day 2. A landing spot with a creative offensive coordinator could unlock his fantasy potential. Bhayshul Tuten (Virginia Tech) – Tuten’s 1,371 yards and 17 TDs in 2024, plus 37 catches, make him a PPR sleeper if he lands in a zone-blocking scheme. Wide Receivers Tetairoa McMillan (Arizona) – Tetairoa McMillan, Arizona’s standout wide receiver, declared for the 2025 NFL Draft after a stellar junior season, amassing 84 receptions, 1,319 yards, and eight touchdowns. At 6-5 and 210 pounds, his size and 3,423 career receiving yards make him a matchup nightmare. McMillan’s back-to-back 1,300+ yard seasons and 35 catches of 20+ air yards highlight his deep-threat ability. In fantasy football, his size, catch radius, and red-zone prowess project him as a WR1 with top-12 dynasty potential. Especially if landed by a pass-heavy NFL offense. Expect immediate impact from this likely top-15 pick. Luther Burden (Missouri) – Burden’s electric after-catch ability (725 yards, 7 TDs in 2024 despite QB struggles) and quick-twitch moves make him a PPR machine. His 2023 (1,212 yards) shows his ceiling. Running a sub-4.0 short shuttle time could remind scouts of his sophomore dominance, boosting him into Round 1. A spot with a pass-heavy team like the Chargers or Buccaneers could yield WR2 numbers. However, Burden’s reliance on short passes at Mizzou is a red flag. Can a strong Combine ease those concerns?
