2025 Philadelphia Eagles Fantasy Preview The Philadelphia Eagles’ 2025 offseason was marked by significant roster changes following their Super Bowl LIX victory. The Eagles faced significant losses in free agency, particularly on defense. GM Howie Roseman navigated a tight salary cap while addressing key departures and bolstering depth for a repeat title run. Another strong draft class should put the reigning champs in a good position to defend their crown. It all starts with QB Jalen Hurts. While Hurts’s passing numbers were depressed, he made up for it by rushing for 632 yards and a position-best 14 rushing scores. Philly’s offense is returning mostly intact, which keeps Hurts in the Tier One quarterback rankings. And with the tush push back for another year, Hurts is poised to continue to bring a positive return on his early-round investment. When you look at what Saquon Barkley did in his first season in Philadelphia, you have to wonder how the Giants’ staff kept their jobs. Barkley sat out Week 18 but still rushed for 2,005 yards, scored 15 times, and won a Lombardi Trophy. Barkley was a league winner last season but won’t come with a discount in 2025. Will Shipley and newcomer A.J. Dillon will fill in as reserves, but are off the fantasy radar. Philly’s dynamic duo of A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith is back for another run. Brown missed four games with hamstring and knee issues but still ranked 13th with 16.7 fantasy points per game. He remains an elite WR1 to target in the second or third round. Smith also missed four games but wasn’t as prolific. However, he scored the most fantasy points per game of his career. Smith is still a solid middle-round value who will have a handful of WR1 showings. The Eagles utilized three-wide sets at a 60 percent clip. That ranked 14th, but you’d never know it from the stat sheets. Nick Siriani does not draw up many targets for his ancillary wideouts. The team signed Jahan Dotson to fill that role, but Dotson has no fantasy value unless one of the team’s starting tandem is re-injured. There were rumors that Dallas Goedert would be traded. However, Goedert returns and is the best bet to rank third in target share. In 10 games, Goedert caught 42 balls and ranked 10th in fantasy points per contest. As long as he stays on the roster, Goedert is a borderline TE1 and a good value pick. Fantasy Grade: A- QB Hurts, Jalen, PHI [QB1] For the second consecutive year, Hurts averaged 21 fantasy points per game, ranking inside the top 5 for the position. Even after missing two games with a concussion, Hurts ranked as the QB5 in fantasy points per game due to his dominance on the ground. He led the position in rushes (150, red-zone carries (47), and touchdowns (14). He also completed a career-best 68.7 percent of his throws and thrived against man coverage. With a pair of top-notch wideouts and the league’s best running back, Hurts is primed for another dominant season for the defending Super Bowl champions. ADVICE: Firmly in the top tier of fantasy quarterbacks. RB Barkley, Saquon, PHI [RB1] The New York Giants let Saquon Barkley walk, and he responded by delivering a historic season in which he could have set the NFL’s all-time rushing record had he not been a team-first guy and sat out the regular-season finale. Barkley’s 2,005 rushing yards were the eighth-most in history, and he led all RBs in averaging 22 PPR points per game. But Barkley accumulated 482 touches, including the postseason–the 10th-most all-time. He also only scored four touchdowns inside the 5-yard line last season, which points toward regression. He’s also missed multiple games in four of his seven seasons. ADVICE: Nobody is fading Barkley, but he’ll have a difficult time matching last year’s numbers. RB Shipley, Will, PHI [RB2] ADVICE: With Kenneth Gainwell now in Pittsburgh, Shipley can emerge as the Eagles’ change-of-pace back. He was used sparingly as a rookie, but has modest value behind Saquon Barkley after Barkley’s massive workload in 2024. RB Dillon, AJ, PHI [RB3] Dillon missed the 2024 season with a neck injury. He projects to be a change-of-pace, short-yardage option behind Saquon Barkley. However, if Barkley missed time, Dillon would split touches with Will Shipley, limiting his handcuff value. WR Brown, A.J., PHI [WR1] Despite missing 3.5 games due to injury, A.J. Brown still delivered a solid 2024 season, finishing as the WR10 in fantasy points per game (14.1) and WR18 overall. He led the NFL in air yard share, accounting for a massive 51% of the Eagles’ total, making him the only receiver to eclipse the 50% mark. Brown also ranked second in target share (30 percent), showcasing his alpha role in the offense. While his fantasy output dipped slightly, his yards per route run hit a career-high. Brown remains an elite weapon, though his weekly floor is less stable given Philly’s diverse arsenal. His quiet playoff run wasn’t skill-related—it reflected the team’s adaptability to defenses. It was Saquan’s time. ADVICE: Elite WR1 talent —high-upside Round 2 pick. WR Smith, DeVonta, PHI [WR2] Smith’s 2024 campaign was defined by inconsistency. He excelled when teammates were sidelined, but disappeared when the offense was fully healthy. Smith set career lows in receptions, yards, and targets, but had a personal-best eight touchdowns, finishing as the WR30 overall and WR23 in points per game across 13 outings. In games where both A.J. Brown and Dallas Goedert were active, Smith managed just 8.3 fantasy points (WR63 pace). That jumped to 14.7 (WR8) when either missed time. He’s posted at least a 22 percent target share every season and has scored seven-plus touchdowns in three straight years. ADVICE: A very talented WR with matchup-driven upside and could be a massive 5th-round value. WR Dotson, Jahan, PHI [WR3] The Eagles don’t incorporate their WR3 into the offense much. Philly’s 59.6% 11-personnel rate ranked 16th, but Dotson only drew 33 targets last

For the fourth consecutive week, we dropped a 3-3 record with our player props wagers. However, due to an added sprinkle on Ladd McConkey’s receiving yardage line, we managed to profit in Week 12. It wasn’t technically one of the plays last week but since it was mentioned in the Justin Herbert writeup, I’m going to count it. And the plus-odds bet on Mike Evans’ receiving yardage was a nice little victory. Still, we only gained +.45 Units and are now an even +4.0 Units on the season. Despite still being in the green, it’s time for us to catch fire like the first few weeks of the campaign with Week 13 NFL Player Props!
We are due for a big week and it might come during the festive holidays. For Thanksgiving, we will discuss some Turkey Day props, as well as a few over the weekend. In Week 13, instead of providing you with my favorite six or seven props, I will list my top 10 player props.
Remember to always odds shop at your different sportsbooks to find the best value for these props. With that in mind, let’s get down to business and find the best Week 13 NFL Player Props!
Derek Carr OVER 214.5 Passing Yards (-110)
Derek Carr’s passing yards line for Week 13 against the Rams looks attainable based on a few key metrics and trends this season. Not to mention, he helped us triple up a few weeks ago so we’re going back to the well despite the lack of weapons surrounding him.
Consistent passing volume has helped Carr as the Saints are typically playing from behind. Carr has surpassed this line in 8 of his last 10 games. This consistency underscores his role in the Saints offense, which leans heavily on his arm, especially in matchups where they face defensive vulnerabilities in the secondary. Which leads me to my next point.
The Rams have had some serious defensive struggles in 2024. The Rams have allowed over 243 passing yards per game this season, ranking among the league’s bottom-tier pass defenses. Their secondary has struggled to contain opposing quarterbacks, giving Carr an advantageous matchup.
And although Carr doesn’t have the weapons that he once started the season with, the Rams’ defense has shown a tendency to allow massive big-chunk plays, providing Carr with the opportunity to rack up yards efficiently. Not to mention, the game script should favor the veteran signal-caller eclipsing this line. The Rams’ offense can score quickly with Matthew Stafford, Kyren Williams, Puka Nacua, and Cooper Kupp, which would force the Saints to keep up. This dynamic increases Carr’s likelihood of exceeding his yardage line as the Saints try to stay competitive.
All of these factors and trends point towards Carr surpassing this line. Don’t forget that he has easily eclipsed this prop line in three consecutive games since returning from a mid-season injury. This bodes well for Carr on Sunday. Smash…

Isiah Pacheco (RB) Kansas City Chiefs – A huge blow for the defending champs and fantasy managers everywhere, Isiah Pacheco fractured his fibula and will miss “months not weeks” of action. Carson Steele is the next man up for the Chiefs, who are also bringing in fading veteran Kareem Hunt for a potential reunion. However, none of those options can approach Pacheco’s value. This is another devastating blow for the Rams, who are being ravaged by injuries. Check out Week 3 waiver wire recommendations for how to deal with the absence of Kupp and Puka Nacua. Rams HC Sean McVay said Cooper Kupp is expected to miss “an extended period of time” and is a candidate for injured reserve. — Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) September 16, 2024 Tua Tagovailoa (QB) Miami Dolphins – Another concussion will sideline Miami’s signal caller for the foreseeable future. Tagovailoa will see neurologists this week. Therefore, fantasy managers should look for other options and only hold Tagovailoa in Superflex leagues that can spare a roster spot. Ultimately, IR is still an option. Deebo Samuel (WR) San Francisco 49ers – Samuel is expected will miss multiple weeks with a calf injury. Amon-Ra St. Brown (WR) Detroit Lions – St. Brown is dealing with a contusion but Dan Campbell indicated it was not a long-term injury. We will monitor his practice participation this week. Justin Jefferson (WR) Minnesota Vikings – Like ARSB, Justin Jefferson is dealing with a minor quad contusion. We don’t anticipate it having any lingering effects for this week’s showdown with the Texans. A.J. Brown (WR) Philadelphia Eagles – Brown injured his hamstring in practice and was forced to miss Philly’s Monday Night loss to Atlanta. Unfortunately, this won’t be the only game Brown will sit. Expect a big boost in targets for DeVonta Smith and TE Dallas Goedert. Eagles WR AJ Brown told ESPN’s @saltersl that he does expect to miss a couple of weeks due to the hamstring injury he suffered Friday. — Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) September 17, 2024 Evan Engram (TE) Jacksonville Jaguars – We were able to quickly update the FullTime Fantasy Discord channel on Sunday when Engram injured his hamstring in pre-game drills and was ruled out. Hamstring injuries tend to linger when not given complete time to heal, so we anticipate Engram missing Week 3. We’ll continue to update the Discord if anything changes. Joe Mixon (RB) Houston Texans – A hip-drop tackle caused Mixon to roll his ankle. He left the game but later returned to action. For now, we’ll have to monitor his practice participation throughout the week. Cam Akers would be the reserve to target on waivers. #Texans veteran running back Joe Mixon ankle injury not considered long term or serious, per league sources. Dameon Pierce making fast progress from minor strained hamstring, per source. And safety M.J. Stewart close to returning from knee-quad injury, per sources @KPRC2 — Aaron Wilson (@AaronWilson_NFL) September 17, 2024 Rachaad White (RB) Tampa Bay Buccaneers – White is dealing with a groin injury but was able to play through it on Sunday. Expect him to have limited practice reps this week but he’s expected to be fine for Week 3. Justin Herbert (QB) Los Angeles Chargers – X-rays were negative on Herbert’s leg. Herbert played through the injury, so it doesn’t appear to be an issue. Just something to monitor. Keenan Allen (WR) Chicago Bears – Plantar fasciitis kept Allen out of action last week and could linger for multiple games. Subsequently, Allen looks like an iffy proposition for Week 3. Pierre Strong (RB) Cleveland Browns – Week-to-week with a hamstring injury. Fire up D’Onta Foreman. Tyjae Spears (RB) Tennessee Titans – Spears is dealing with a minor ankle ailment. For now, it doesn’t seem like much of a concern. Jake Ferguson (TE) Dallas Cowboys – Ferguson sat out last week with a knee injury. However, there is growing optimism that he’ll return in Week 3. MarShawn Lloyd (RB) Green Bay Packers – A lingering ankle injury has caused Lloyd to be placed on IR. He will miss four games, minimum. Eleven other wideouts scored between 20.00 and 24.00 fantasy points. Over the previous three weeks, Keenan Allen (30.57) was the top player. Here are the top five wide receivers by scoring average after 12 weeks of action:

Top Tier Options
Tyreek Hill, MIA (DK – $9,600/FD – $10,000)
The Dolphins gave Hill double-digit targets in each of the last six matchups, leading to him having a floor of eight catches in five consecutive starts. He’s gained over 100 yards in seven of his 11 games while adding a score in nine different weeks (10 total TDs). Hill’s best showing in fantasy points came in Week 1 (44.50), and he has three other outcomes with at least 30.00 fantasy points at home.
Washington has the second-worst wide receiver defense (155/2,355/18 on 238 targets), with wideouts gaining 15.2 yards per catch. Six teams (DEN – 13/274/3, PHI – 17/264/2, CHI – 8/230/3, PHI – 17/242/4, SEA – 21/256/1, and DAL – 13/245/3) gained over 200 yards from their wide receivers. Their quarterbacks passed for more than 300 yards in each of these failures. D.J. Moore (8/230/2) and A.J. Brown (8/130/2 and 9/175/2) had the most success. CB Benjamin St. Juste (56/741/4 on 56 targets per PFF) has been a weak link in coverage, along with CB Emmanuel Forbes (27/490/3 on 42 targets).
The Dolphins do an excellent job getting Hill easy catches close to the line of scrimmage, with some coming out of the backfield. He has the speed and quickness to beat any defender one-on-one, pointing to an impact game vs. the Commanders. He comes into this week with a slight ankle issue that limited his playing time in practice. Over his final six starts, Hill needs 676 receiving yards to reach 2,000 yards.

He jumped to 26th in wide receiver scoring (126.60 fantasy points) in PPR formats while starting the week ranked 41st. Tyreek Hill (30.60) was the only other wideout to score more than 30.00 fantasy points. Nathaniel Dell (28.90), Keenan Allen (27.60), and Brandon Aiyuk (26.60) rounded out the Super High-Five. Five other wide receivers scored between 20.00 and 23.00 fantasy points. Here are the top five wide receivers ranked by scoring average after 11 weeks:

- CeeDee Lamb (21.57)
- A.J. Brown (20.53)
- Amon-Ra St. Brown (19.31)
Six of the seven wideouts were all selected in the first round (Keenan Allen has an ADP of 28) in most leagues in the high-stakes market. Due to an injury, Justin Jefferson (1st overall) was the only wide receiver bust. Christian McCaffrey played up to expectations, while Austin Ekeler (missed three games), Garrett Wilson (Aaron Rodgers injury), Bijan Robinson (Falcons haven’t committed to him), and Saquon Barkley (missed three games) underachieved expectations.

Top Tier Options
Stefon Diggs, BUF (DK – $8,800/FD – $8,700)
The Bills struggled to get Stefon Diggs the ball in back-to-back games (3/34 and 4/27 on 13 combined targets). He hasn’t gained more than 100 receiving yards since Week 6. Over this span, Diggs gained only 9.8 yards per catch. When at his best over the first six games, he averaged 8.2 catches for 103 yards and 0.83 touchdowns or 23.49 fantasy points in PPR formats. His best showing (6/120/3) came in Week 4 vs. the Dolphins. Diggs played well in all four road starts (10/192/1, 8/111, 6/58/1, and 6/86/1).
Philadelphia has the worst wide receiver defense (166/1,922/15 on 266 targets) in the league, with significant issues in five matchups (MIN – 17/265/2, WAS – 22/230/1, MIA – 20/206/1, WAS – 24/288/3, and DAL – 18/271/2). Despite their struggles, only four wideouts gained over 100 yards (Justin Jefferson – 11/159, Cooper Kupp – 8/118, Jahan Dotson – 8/108/1, and CeeDee Lamb – 11/191). CB Darius Slay sees minimal coverage out of the slot, pointing to Buffalo trying to get Diggs matched up with CB James Bradberry (31/374/6 on 56 targets – per PFF) on more plays. CB Bradley Roby (5/58/1 on 11 targets) and Josh Jobe (15/206/3 on 28 targets) handle the wide receiver assignments on the inside.
With CeeDee Lamb, Tyreek Hill, Amon-Ra St, Brown, and Keenan Allen off the main slate on Sunday, Diggs is one of three higher-end wideouts with a chance at an impact game. I expect double-digit targets with an excellent chance of scoring, setting up a 30+ fantasy point game. My first team build in the Millionaire Maker at DraftKings will have Diggs as one of my foundation pieces.

Elite Options
A.J. Brown, PHI (DK – $8,600/FD – $9,000)
With Ja’Marr Chase, Tyreek Hill, and Stefon Diggs off the main slate on Sunday, Brown will be a popular player at the top end at wide receiver. He has been exceptionally hot over his last six games (9/131, 9/175/2, 6/127, 7/131, 10/137/1, and 8/130/2), averaging 30.02 fantasy points in DraftKings scoring. Four of his five touchdowns came against Washington. Brown had two solid games (5/67/1 and 6/103) in 2022 vs. the Cowboys.
Dallas ranks second defending wide receivers (58/819/4 on 114 targets). Keenan Allen (7/85/1) posted the best game, and no wideout has gained more than 100 yards against the Cowboys. Their success in coverage has been helped by facing four poor passing offenses (NYG, NYJ, ARI, and NE). Dallas tends to keep their top two outside cornerbacks (Stefon Gilmore and DaRon Bland) at the same position on the field for most plays, That will allow the Eagles to get more favorable matchups for their top wide receiver. On the year, Gilmore and Bland allowed a combined 35 catches on 72 targets for 483 yards and two scores (Per PFF). Slot cornerback Jourdan Lewis is the weak link in coverage (12/168/3 on 19 targets).
The injury to CB Trevor Diggs should be exposed by the Eagles’ passing game in Week 9. Brown will get his chances, and he is trending forward in scoring. His winning streak stands at six games. But can his ticket come in every week?
Cooper Kupp, LAR (DK – $8,500/FD – $8,700)
The Steelers and Cowboys shut down Kupp over the past two weeks (2/29 and 4/21 on 17 combined targets). His regression in catch rate (35.2) over this span is a concern. And Los Angeles lost their passing magic from Week 5 to Week 8 (222/2, 226/1, 231/1, and 204/1) despite playing three games at home and having Kupp back in the starting lineup. The Rams had him on the field for all of their plays over the last three weeks, and he did shine vs. the Eagles (8/118) and Cardinals (7/148/1).

Let’s dive right into the projections typically reserved for Fulltime Fantasy members, by team and by position: Dolphins vs Eagles Projections Two big-time value plays allow you to mix and match your studs to chase down that epic GPP tonight. The returning Dolphins RB Jeffrey Wilson $200 and newly signed Eagles WR Julio Jones $2,000 have double digit value returns with 6-10 point range production. A surprising captain? You don’t have to use them both but if you do, you can basically take any 4 of the top players tonight you want. Jalen Hurts, not the favored Tyreek Hill, is projected by our award-winning RDA* projections to be the top CAPTAIN on the slate, with 47.09 fantasy points. Coming in second is the cheetah Tyreek Hill with 40.52. Third is PHI WR AJ Brown with 39.93. It’s a pretty steep drop after that down to the 32 point range with both Tua and Swift available options. Mostert and Waddle round out the top seven with 30 and 27 points respectively. Obviously, feel free to mix and match all of the higher-value players for your own contest selections tonight. NFL Week 1 Eagles at Patriots: DFS & Fantasy Preview Betting Line: Eagles – 5 Over/Under: 45.0 Philadelphia comes a sensational season in 2022, but they finished one step short of greatness. Jalen Hurts offers power running with developing value in the passing game. The Eagles have a top offensive line, and their defense created plenty of pressure on the quarterback last season. Philly has three excellent receiving options (A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, and Dallas Goedert) while adding D’Andre Smith in the offseason. New England is struggling to find their offensive identity after losing Tom Brady a few seasons ago. The Patriots have talent on defense, and they want to run the ball to control the clock. Mac Jones is a much better player than most believe. He can’t reach elite status without better play and production from his receiving corps. Rhamondre Stevenson will get plenty of touches this season, while Ezekiel Elliott brings experience off the bench. Note: The fantasy points per $1,000 are based on the early projections for Week 1. The above grid shows the top players excepted to contribute in Week 1 in the fantasy games. I listed each player’s salary at DraftKings and FanDuel, plus their fantasy points expected per $1,000 of salary invested. In GPP (grand prize pools) events, the goal is to find players with a chance to score four times their salary at DraftKings ($50,000 salary cap and three times at FanDuel ($60,000 salary cap). Philadelphia Eagles Jalen Hurts Hurts continues to be a beast in the run game, highlighted by his stats in 2022 (165/760/13) despite missing two weeks. The improvement in his receiving options last year led to career-highs in completions (306), pass attempts (460), passing yards (3,701), passing touchdowns (22), yards per pass attempts (8.0), and completion rate (66.5). He passed for 300 yards or more in five matchups (333/1, 340/3, 380/3, 315/0, and 301/1), lifting him to third in quarterback scoring (423.05) in four-point passing touchdown formats. Hurts scored more than 30.00 fantasy points (37.35, 31.00, 30.05, 31.25, 31.35, 38.20, 32.55, 39.5, and 45.20) in nine of his 18 starts (including the postseason). New England ranked seventh defending quarterback (19.16 FPPG), with failure in two matchups (30.70 and 35.50 fantasy points). Quarterbacks rushed for 322 yards on 70 carries vs. the Patriots with two scores. To reach a winning score in Week 1, Hurts must score more than 30.00 fantasy points. It’s not the best matchup, but he is still a coin flip in any week due to his high floor in the run game and his exceptional receiving options. D’Andre Swift Swift appeared to kick down the fantasy door in Week 1 (15/144/1 with three catches for 31 yards) of 2022. Unfortunately, Detroit only gave him 17 touches over the following two games, leading to 133 combined yards with one score and five catches. A shoulder issue cost him three weeks plus a shallow role over the next five matchups (23/61/2 with 16 catches for 109 yards and one touchdown). Swift gained 453 yards with three touchdowns and 24 catches on 73 touches over his final six games. He finished the year ranked 21st in running back scoring (191.10) in PPR formats, with three weeks of success (26.50, 21.10, and 27.70 fantasy points). The Lions only had him on the field for 34.7% of their plays in 2022, which invites a higher ceiling with a higher role and a healthy season. The Eagles running backs had only 48 catches for 262 yards and no catches on 61 targets last season. Philadelphia should give the most touches in Week 1, but Swift doesn’t appear to have upside in scoring in close or catching many balls. To score 22.00 fantasy points, he needs a touchdown with more than 100 combined yards and about five catches. A three-back rotation isn’t his friend. Kenneth Gainwell With the Eagles’ abandoning the running back position in the passing game last season, Gainwell finished with 409 combined yards with four touchdowns and 23 catches. His only fantasy game of value (12/112/1 with one catch for nine yards) came in the first round of the postseason. There has been positive talk about Gainwell over the summer, but his role/opportunity is unclear. More of a gamble while needing 16.00 fantasy points at DraftKings to pay off. A.J. Brown The Eagles threw the ball 81 more times than I expected to their wide receivers in 2022, giving Brown a much better opportunity. He finished with career-highs in catches (88), receiving yards (1,496), and targets (145) while scoring 11 touchdowns and gaining an impressive 17.0 yards per catch. Brown gained 20 or more yards on 26.1% of his catches. His best output came in five games (10/155, 6/156/3, 8/119/2, 9/181, and 6/103). He averaged 8.5 targets last year. Based on his salary and outcomes in 2022, Brown would have filled his salary bucket 20% of the time over his 20 games played. Wide receivers had 207 catches for 2,688 yards and 15 touchdowns on 338 targets against New England in 2022. I don’t expect a 30.00 fantasy game, so I’ll look for upside elsewhere. DeVonta Smith Last year, Smith saw his opportunity grow by over 30%, leading to an exceptional year (95/1,196/7 on 136 targets). He caught 69.9% of his chances while being an impact player from Week 15 to Week 17 (5/126, 8/113/2, and 9/115) when fantasy championships were on the line. Smith gained more than 100 yards in three other matchups (8/169/1, 5/102/1, and 7/100). His season started with a goose egg on four targets, with emptiness in three other contests (3/17, 5/23, 2/22, and 2/36). Over his final 12 starts (including the postseason), Smith had 70 catches for 951 yards and six touchdowns on 105 targets. Smith needs about 29.00 fantasy points at DraftKings to finish as an edge play in Week 1. He reached that threshold twice (30.90 and 31.30 – 10% of the time) last season. I expect more big plays in

2023 Philadelphia Eagles Outlook The 2023 NFL season is right around the corner and that means fantasy football drafts are underway. Before you assemble your championship dynasty, redraft, or high-stakes squad, FullTime Fantasy members will have an in-depth, player-by-player preview of all 32 teams from football legend Shawn Childs. Up next in our extensive NFL and fantasy football preview series is Shawn’s deep dive into the 2023 Philadelphia Eagles Outlook. — PROJECTIONS — — Coaching Staff — Nick Sirianni went 23-11 over his first two seasons as the head coach of the Eagles. Philadelphia had a dynamic run in 2022, leading to a trip to the Super Bowl. Unfortunately, they lost by three points to the Kansas City Chiefs. He spent the previous three seasons as the offensive coordinator for the Colts while having 14 years of coaching experience in the NFL. Philadelphia jumped to 3rd in points scored (477 – an increase of 33 points from 2021) while improving from 14th to 3rd in offensive yards. Brian Johnson takes over as Philly’s offensive coordinator. He earned his way to the NFL via 11 years of coaching in college. In 2021, Philadelphia gave him their quarterback’s coach job, leading to his promotion in 2023. Johnson turned 36 in February. Philly also lost their defensive coordinator after their great season. They awarded the job to Sean Desai this season. He held the same position in 2021 for the Chicago Bears while working as the Seattle Seahawks’ associated head coach and defensive assistant last year. Desai had been coaching in the NFL for 10 seasons. The Eagles allowed 344 points (8th) last year, an improvement of 74 points from 2020 and 41 points from 2021. Their defense did show more growth in yards allowed (2nd – 10th in 2021), thanks to a league-high 70 sacks. — Free Agency — Philadelphia lost DT Javon Hargrove to the 49ers in the offseason after they rewarded him with an $84 million contract ($40 million guaranteed). Last season, he set a career-high in sacks (11) with 60 tackles. Their defense also moved on from S Chauncey Gardner-Johnson (DET), LB T.J. Edwards (CHI), LB Kyzir White (ARI), S Marcus Epps (LV), and DE Robert Quinn (FA). The Eagles added S Terrell Edmunds and LB Nicholas Morrow via free agency. G Isaac Seumalo signed with the Steelers, and G Andre Dillard found a new home with the Titans. Offensively, RB Miles Sanders landed in Carolina while Philadelphia replaced him with RB Rashaad Penny. They brought in QB Marcus Mariota to cover the loss of QB Gardner Minshew (IND). The only other addition was WR Olamide Zaccheaus. — Draft — After an excellent season, the Eagles still had two first-round picks (DT Jalen Carter and LB Nolan Smith) in the 2023 NFL Draft. Carter instantly gives Philadelphia an impact interior lineman who will attack the quarterback and control the run game. He gets off the line with a plan creating wins with quickness, hands, and strength. His motor may need some gas late in games when facing bulky, power offensive linemen. Carter’s next step is personal growth in his maturity to keep him on point in the weekly battles in the trenches. Thanks to his speed (4.39 40-yard dash), vision, and team mentality, Smith brings a high foundation in his ability to support the run. His pass pushing has room to grow while needing more defined moves when stalemated in his attack. He had his 2022 college season cut short due to a torn pectoral muscle. Philly added T Tyler Steen in the third round. Early in his career, he projects higher in pass protection due to his vision and coverage area. His technique and attack angle need some work to increase his range and balance when moving forward. Steen must add patience to his plan to improve his chance of slowing down a delayed rusher. The Eagles added three more defensive players (S Sydney Brown, CB Kelee Ringo, and DT Moro Ojomo) over the back half of this year’s draft. Brown is at his best when attacking the line of scrimmage in run support, but he does miss some tackles. When asked to downshift and change directions, his defense has a step back in value. Brown stays connected to tight ends in coverage, but better route runners will give him problems. Ringo is the third player added to Philadelphia’s defense who played his college ball at Georgia. He offers blazing speed (4.36 40-yard dash) with the size (6’2” and 205 lbs.) to handle press coverage. Ringo adds value against the run but lacks the movements and anticipation to fire on time against throws over the short areas of the field. Penalties were an issue last year, and he needs to find a balance between watching the quarterback and staying connected to his assignment. Ojomo comes to the NFL as a tweener defensive lineman. His strength is the key to his wins, but he doesn’t have the lateral quickness to be a difference-maker on the edge or between defenders on the inside with his feet. Ojomo plays hard with an eye for the ball. Philadelphia invested in QB Tanner McKee in the sixth round. His skill set is miles away from Jalen Hurts, requiring the Eagles to run a different offense when he is behind center. McKee does his work from the pocket with an NFL arm. His delivery needs to be cleaned up to increase his accuracy. McKee loses value when asked to throw on the move, and his pocket presence isn’t high enough to extend the passing window when looking for his secondary receiving options. — Offensive Line — The Eagles fell to fourth in rushing yards (2,509) with 32 rushing touchdowns. They averaged 4.6 yards per carry (down from 4.9 in 2021) while gaining over 20 yards per rush in 17 runs. Philadelphia jumped to eighth in passing yards (4,364) while gaining 8.1 yards per pass attempt. They finished with 25 passing touchdowns and
