FFWC High-Stakes Recap: Week 8

With Week 8 now complete, the second half of the 2023 Fulltime Fantasy Football regular season is underway. With all 32 teams in action – it was a high-scoring affair. Here is a look at the Top 20 Leaderboards across the four Major FFWC XI Tournaments in our FFWC High-Stakes Recap: Week 8. Fantasy Football World Championship Apart from the overall leader, positioning changed slightly at the top of the standings in the race to claim the $150K FFWC XI Grand Prize. Four new teams joined the FTF World Championship Top 20 Leaderboard following Week 8 action. That includes three teams that made a big leap into the Top 15 overall. Team Just(in) Time (6-2) continues as the FFWC XI overall leader for a seventh straight week. Simeon Yarbrough and Brian Marzorini posted 165.00 points and increased their lead slightly from 12.85 to 15.05 points. They also lead the most points race in FFWC SLOW 4 by 93.10 over House of Orange I (16th OA) who have an 8-0 record. The two teams with the Best Record and the Most Points go head-to-head in the Week 15 to 17 playoffs. If one team holds both marks – they are a FFWC XI Dominator $10K winner. Sitting 22nd overall, back in Week 3, Zefurs IV (7-1) has climbed into second place. KJ Dukes squad racked up 197.20 points and went from 47.25 to 15.05 points out of first. In a battle of the final two 7-1 teams, in FFWC 9/3 9 PM ET league, Zefurs IV and Cobb Nation go H2H this week. Zefurs IV’s lead in that league increased to 197.40 points. After sitting second overall, for three straight weeks, Mr Yellow Stickers (7-1) slipped to third place. Mike Schlissberg’s WC Circa Hybrid 9/9 squad posted 149.50 points and is 30.90 points out of first place. Mr Yellow Stickers and Drunken Masters are both 7-1 in that league and they go H2H this week as well. There is still a long way to go but, a win by Mike moves him into a league Dominator position. Remaining in the Top 5, for a third straight week, Team Honeycutt (7-1) moved from fifth to fourth place overall. Steve Honeycutt‘s FFWC Online 8/22 9 PM ET team posted 171.70 points. Very consistent, with 168.75 points as the low in Week 4, Team Honeycutt has averaged 176.98 points over the last six weeks. Jumping up three spots, Coyote Miscreants (6-2) moved from eighth to fifth overall. Mike Santos and Kurt Kuekes scored 179.70 points to complete an impressive climb into the Top 5. Their FFWC GT 8/18 9 PM ET team sat 242nd and was averaging 144.47 points following Week 3 action. During a stop in 63rd, two in 13th, one in eighth, and now in fifth, Coyote Miscreants have averaged 180.91 points over the last five weeks. Our FFWC XI “Shout Out of the Week” goes to The Champs (4-4) who posted a week-high 230.25 points. John Rozek’s FFWC SLOW 2 squad moved from 510th to 320th overall and is riding a four-game winning streak. Even better, The Champs moved from 151.75 to 95.60 points out of a playoff spot in their league. Also enjoying a big week, Team Webslinger 2 racked up 211.25 points and jumped from 45th to tenth overall. Respected Money VIII posted 189.35 points and moved from 28th to 11th place. Rounding out the biggest movers, Team Angel’s Envy scored 184 points and climbed from 26th to 15th place. After just four teams posted at least 200 points last week, 14 squads reached that plateau during Week 8 action. If the playoffs started this week, just 22.48 points would separate the Top 100 FFWC XI teams. The undefeated ranks dropped, from 13 teams at 7-0 last week, to just seven with an 8-0 record heading into Week 9. Three of those teams are currently in the Top 20 overall. Chad Schroeder joined Curtis Hirsch, Mike Santos, and KJ Duke (2) with two Top 20 teams. Circa Las Vegas Fantasy Championship Scoring reached a new high during Week 8 in our inaugural FullTime Fantasy Circa LVFC Tournament. The 158,114.20 total points scored surpasses the 156,651.25 points posted during Week 3 action. Four new teams entered the Top 20 Leaderboard and the overall Top 5 changed slightly. For the first time this season, the top two leaders remained unchanged. Despite a down week, compared to their lofty numbers recently, team Leave It In (6-2) retained first overall. Mike Moore and Mike Scherneck’s Circa LVFC 9/6 10 PM ET team posted 152.25 points. Mike and Mike finished 11th overall during the playoffs last season. With 1423.75 total points, they are well ahead of the 1108.90 points they had through eight weeks last season. Receiving a decent rebound, from his Tagovailoa/Mostert/Waddle Dolphins triple stack (63.7 points), Team 2 Bros DP (5-3) retains second overall. Robbie Dinges and Pat Evevard’s Circa LVFC SLOW 5 squad posted 148.20 points. Robbie joined Adam Krautwurst on the 10/25/23 FullTime Fantasy Podcast and shared his insights on the draft, plus the season-to-date. Team 2 Bros DP are 33.20 points out first overall, and lead their league by 167.35 points. Continuing a steady climb, from 31st back in Week 4, Team Mitchell 2 (8-0) jumped from sixth to third overall. Mark Mitchell’s squad, drafted early during the FFWC XI season (7/15/23), piled up 187.80 points. After opening the season with 124.60 points, Mark’s team has averaged an impressive 180.20 points per week. Team Mitchell 2 moved from 73.30 to 37.75 points out first overall. Team LOB (7-1) retained fourth overall for a second straight week. Also drafted early, Mark Deming’s Circa LVFC 7/16/23 team posted 167.00 points. Mark’s Jaguars quad-stack, Lawrence, Etienne, Ridley, and Engram, averaged 19.4 points per player. LOB is 42.30 out of first overall and leads his league by 147.75 points. Following a massive outburst last week, Team Reece (6-2) stumbled some and slipped from third to fifth. After racking up the fifth-highest single-week

Fantasy Football Start ‘Em Sit ‘Em Week 8

Fantasy Football Start ‘Em Sit ‘Em Week 8 Last week we avoided some major potholes like Jameson Williams, Justin Herbert, and Hunter Henry. Some of our start options didn’t go as planned, but a full slate without byes brings new opportunities. After scouring the waiver wire and getting the latest injury news, let’s explore the top Fantasy Football Start’ Em Sit’ Em Week 8 options. Week 8 Byes: NONE Quarterbacks Start ‘Em C.J. Stroud (Houston Texans) at Carolina Stroud had been displaying robust performances leading up to the Texans’ Week 7 bye, delivering multiple passing touchdowns in four of his previous five games. He exceeded 20 fantasy points in three of those outings, establishing a base of around 14 fantasy points per game. Nonetheless, this week might mark the pinnacle of his rookie season as he faces the Panthers, who allow 7.6 yards per attempt, ranking sixth-highest in the NFL. Also, the Panthers play mostly cover 3, which is a defense Stroud has consistently beaten all season. Derek Carr (New Orleans Saints) at Indianapolis Could this be the week where Carr achieves his first smash game of the season? His recent performances have just been meh, with three consecutive games yielding at least 18.3 Fantasy points against New England, Houston, and Jacksonville. In two of those games, he amassed over 301 passing yards. Carr has only recorded multiple touchdowns in one game this season. However, this week, he faces the Colts, who have allowed at least two touchdowns to four of seven opposing quarterbacks, with five of them scoring more than 18.2 Fantasy points. Carr should be regarded as a high-end No. 2 fantasy quarterback in all leagues for Week 8. Sit ‘Em Geno Smith (Seattle Seahawks) vs. Cleveland Despite throwing multiple passing touchdowns for just the second time this season, In week 7 Smith managed to accumulate less than 14 fantasy points. In the 2023 campaign, he has exceeded 16 fantasy points on only one occasion. That is a significant drop from his 2022 average of nearly 18 fantasy points per game. Lastly, facing the Browns, who have conceded the fewest passing yards in the NFL this season, and allowed just one passing touchdown per game while restricting QBs to the fifth-lowest fantasy PPG, makes it a wise decision to bench Smith in fantasy. Running Backs Start ‘Em Dameon Pierce (Houston Texans) at Carolina Pierce’s season has been challenging thus far, as he has managed to reach double-digit fantasy points only on two occasions. In his last appearance before the bye, he lost playing time to Devin Singletary. Nevertheless, considering the matchup in Week 8, it’s worth giving him another chance. Singletary doesn’t scare me either and Piece is better than Singletary at everything. The Panthers have surrendered the third-most rushing yards and the highest number of rushing touchdowns, despite having already had their bye week. They concede 5.3 yards per carry, the second-most in the NFL, and particularly struggle against outside runs, allowing the highest yards per carry in the league. Pierce leads Houston in outside carries, making him a viable RB2 or flex option. Jaylen Warren (Pittsburgh Steelers) vs. Jacksonville Warren found the end zone and achieved double-digit fantasy points for the third consecutive game last week, marking the fourth time in his last five outings. Warren serves as the Steelers’ primary pass-catching back, garnering 27 targets, 22 catches, and 165 receiving yards this season, in contrast to Harris’ 12 targets, eight catches, and 52 yards. Also, he significantly outperforms Harris in these categories when the team is trailing. The Steelers may need to play catch-up against the Jaguars, who have allowed the most completions and the fourth-most receiving yards to running backs this season. Warren is a reliable streaming option with a high ceiling this week. Sit ‘Em Javonte Williams (Denver Broncos) vs. Kansas City Williams had a promising performance against the Packers in Week 7, achieving his best game of the season with 12.6 PPR points. However, he only managed 10 carries for 52 yards in Week 6 against Kansas City. And another challenging outing is expected in the upcoming rematch at home. Williams has yet to find the end zone this year and is still sharing touches with Jaleel McLaughlin and Samaje Perine. The Chiefs have allowed just three total touchdowns to running backs this season, and only three running backs have surpassed 9.9 PPR points against Kansas City in seven games. If you can, bench Williams in Week 8. Zack Moss (Indianapolis Colts) vs. New Orleans Moss has delivered four top-10 finishes over a span of five weeks, even with Jonathan Taylor in the picture. In the last two weeks, Moss and Taylor have split the backfield duties evenly, with Taylor showing better performances. Even if the backfield remains a 50/50 split, the matchup against the New Orleans Saints is challenging for both players. The Saints have yielded the fourth-fewest fantasy points to running backs and possess the fifth-best team run-defense grade. They have allowed only three rushing touchdowns, tied for the fifth-fewest among defenses. While the Colts are still expected to win, the combination of limited efficiency and potentially reduced workload makes it unlikely for Moss to provide significant fantasy value. Wide Receivers Start ‘Em Garrett Wilson (New York Jets) at New York Giants The Giants have struggled to contain opposing No. 1 receivers for the majority of the season, and Wilson should be no exception. Since Week 2, Marquise Brown, Deebo Samuel, DK Metcalf, Tyreek Hill, Stefon Diggs, and Terry McLaurin have all had outstanding performances against the Giants’ secondary. Wilson has scored a minimum of 14.4 PPR points in four of his six games this season. Also, he is coming off an impressive game against the Eagles in Week 6, where he recorded eight catches for 90 yards on 12 targets. Expect Wilson to have another nice outing while visiting his home field. Rashee Rice (Kansas City Chiefs) at Denver We mentioned last
Week 8 DFS: Quarterback Report

Week 8 DFS: Quarterback Report The big dogs at quarterback were the winning plays in Week 7. Patrick Mahomes (39.10) edged out Lamar Jackson (38.45) in fantasy points in four-point passing touchdown leagues. Josh Allen (28.95) finished fourth, followed by

Now, let’s break down all the latest fantasy-relevant injury news in this week’s Fantasy Football Injury Report for Week 8. We will continually update this list. Week 8 Byes: NONE Deebo Samuel (WR) San Francisco 49ers – A hairline fracture in his shoulder sidelined Samuel for Week 7 and will keep him out for Week 8. The 49ers have a Week 9 bye, so Week 10 seems like a realistic timeline for Samuel to return. Jauan Jennings and Ray-Ray McCloud will play bigger roles while Samuel is out. However, neither is fantasy-relevant. Bijan Robinson (RB) Atlanta Falcons – There are no indication that rookie RB Bijan Robinson is injured. However, his absence in Week 7 had severe consequences. He came up ill before Atlanta’s Week 7 win in Tampa and played a mere 11 snaps. Not only were fantasy managers surprised by Robinson’s lack of role, but the Falcons could face consequences for their handling of the situation. The NFL is now asking injury-report compliance questions to the Atlanta Falcons about when they knew rookie running back Bijan Robinson wasn’t physically well and why it was not reported, as per league policy. It is standard practice for the league to question teams about a… — Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) October 23, 2023 DK Metcalf (WR) Seattle Seahawks – Metcalf missed his first NFL game with a rib injury. Most thought Metcalf would be active. However, Pete Carroll decided to be cautious. Metcalf should be back in Week 8. Note: Metcalf faces the most difficult matchup in the league this week vs WRs in Cleveland who only allow 23.3 fantasy points per game to wide receivers. Kyren Williams (RB) Los Angeles Rams – Last week the Rams sent Williams (knee) to IR. He will miss four games plus LA’s Week 10 bye. That puts Williams in line for a Week 12 return to action. Zach Ertz (TE) Arizona Cardinals – Ertz was sent to the IR with a quad injury. He will miss at least four games. That will open up more opportunities for Trey McBride, who has shown improvement in the last two games. Fantasy managers can drop Ertz. Roschon Johnson (RB) Chicago Bears – Johnson is in the final stages of the NFL’s concussion protocol. He should return this week. However, after D’Onta Foreman’s breakout, it is fair to question how much playing time Johnson will garner after missing two games. Jerome Ford (RB) Cleveland Browns – A high-ankle sprain will cause Ford to miss 1-2 games. Kareem Hunt will see more touches. Also, Pierre Strong will mix int. Justin Fields (QB) Chicago Bears – Matt Eberflus has already said that Fields is doubtful for Week 8. Expect Tyson Bagent to get at least one more start. Chicago has a favorable schedule for the next month, so whoever is under center should be on fantasy radars. Jimmy Garoppolo (QB) Las Vegas Raiders – The Raiders were embarrassed in Chicago. Brian Hoyer’s abysmal play was a catalyst for Vegas’s struggles. By all indications, Jimmy Garooppolo will be back under center in Detroit and has plenty of motivation to return to the lineup. Raiders’ QB Jimmy Garoppolo has a $90,000 per-game-active-roster bonus that he misses out on for each game that he doesn’t play. Garoppolo now has missed out on $180,000 in roster bonuses the past two weeks, but he’s expected to start making it back next Monday night. https://t.co/uvnhS7CWrI — Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) October 22, 2023 Kyler Murray (QB) Arizona Cardinals – Bestball drafters rejoice! The Cardinals opened Murray’s 21-day window to return. Murray should practice this week. If all goes well, he could be back under center in the next 1-2 weeks. Also, Murray is a priority waiver wire target where available. Christian Watson (WR) Green Bay Packers – Watson tweaked his knee and is considered questionable. We’ll have to keep an eye on Watson’s practice participation all week and keep the FullTime Fantasy Discord updated. Treylon Burks (WR) Tennessee Titans – Absent since Week 4 with a knee injury, Burks practiced during Tennesee’s Week 7 bye and is set to return. This will be a much-needed boost for a Titans’ passing attack which ranks 29th in the league. Daniel Jones (QB) New York Giants – Jones missed his second straight game. However, local media indicated that Jones was close to suiting up last week against Washington. Tyrod Taylor has filled in admirably, so the Giants do not have to rush Jones back into the lineup. Deshaun Watson (QB) Cleveland Browns – Watson’s return was brief, exiting Week 7 in the first quarter. The quarterback hit his head on the turf but cleared concussion protocol. However, Kevin Stefanski chose to keep P.J. Walker in the lineup. Subsequently, Watson is a volatile fantasy option. Ryan Tannehill (QB) Tennessee Titans – Tannehill is dealing with a high-ankle sprain and is considered questionable to play against the Falcons. He did not practice Tuesday. Coming off a bye, that’s a good indication that Tannehlll will miss at least one more start. Malik Willis will fill in if Tannehill is unable to go. Greg Dulcich (TE) Denver Broncos – After playing 11 snaps in Week 6, Dulcich hurt his hamstring. Subsequently, the Broncos placed Dulchich on IR for the second time this season. The earliest he can return is Week 10. #Broncos announce that they’ve activated Baron Browning from the PUP and placed Greg Dulcich on IR — Ryan Edwards (@redwardsradio) October 21,
Fantasy Football Waiver Wire: Week 8

Fantasy Football Waiver Wire: Week 8 It’s hard to believe the 2023 campaign is now halfway over. The inaugural half ended with a whimper, with six teams on bye and decreased scoring. However, no teams have a bye in Week
