PITCHING

  1. Noah Syndergaard … Thor isn’t as heavy of a favorite as he should be against the Giants and I am hoping that folks use that as a reason to shy away from him.  He is the best pitcher on the slate and for only 10.2k on Draft Kings I think we take the 25+ point night and move on even at the heavy chalk.  This is where a 2 SP site has its advantages.
  2. Jake Junis … Kansas City’s patience and development with Junis through a slump that was anticipated has paid off.  The big righty has recovered from a horrendous stretch where he was tipping his pitches and throwing to contact rather than ‘pitching’ and has only given up 1 HR over his last four starts.  Also encouraging is that his Hard hit rate has dropped significantly back down from when he was getting blown up.   Junis’ bad stretch saw him giving up 50%+ HARD contact in basically six straight starts, however since then he has returned to his early season form and is relying on his slider more and more.  There’s plenty of signs to suggest that he is pitching with confidence and going into Tampa is a great spot to jump back on the Junis hype train.  And by Junis hype train, I mean the train that has one person on it — me, while other people are out there hyping up guys like Poncedeleon, Faria, Covey…   You know, Donkey arms…..
  3. Lance Lynn … After two rough starts at home some folks may be off Lynn tonight, but in Miami against a RH heavy team (Dietrich/Riddle the lefties who can give him issues) he should bounce back and pitch more like the Lynn that first came over to the Yankees earlier this year.

LONGSHOTS

  1. Trevor Richards … #SouthBeachTheory.   What team embodies the South Beach Theory more than the Yankees?

CORE STACKS

BOSTON

Boston is not going to drop 3 in a row to the eventual AL Champion Indians that easily.  Despite Carrasco being a ‘road’ guy I do NOT like him in this spot tonight and I expect – with good weather – the Red Sox to light him and the bad Indians bullpen up tonight.

ARIZONA

Despaigne never had much luck when he was a Padre pitching in Chase Field and this lineup is too good right now to not expect them to put up more than 5 runs in the first few innings.  I would love to see the EXACT same lineup from last night with Pollock leading off followed by Escobar, Peralta and Goldschmidt.  AJ has speed to run at the top of the lineup and is a good on base guy followed by the doubles machine Escobar and the red hot Peralta that’s a 1-4 that should do very well.  But tonight I think we can look at the bottom of the lineup as well for guys like DeScalso/Marte and Ahmed who stand out to me as good value plays.

VALUE TEAMS

Detroit … Detroit has done well vs LHP and the top three guys along with McCann are underpriced.

Pittsburgh … I am not on Julio Teheran today and rare is the day I like to stack the Pirates, however I have a sneaky feeling they hit a couple homers off him tonight starting with Polanco and Dickerson.

Mets … I am not high on trusting the Mets as they’re really not a good team at home, but they will be a popular value play against Kelly tonight and Rosario has been playing better since leading off.

TOP HITTERS

CATCHER

No Ramos again.  BOOOOOOOOO.

  1. Alex Avila
  2. Salvador Perez – Price has dropped and I think he has a good game tonight.
  3. Chris Iannetta
  4. James McCann

FIRST BASE

I really do not like first base tonight as 5500 for Goldy is a stretch even for me as someone who really likes Arizona tonight.  Moreland feels like the play here tonight.   Then again, we have Justin Bour returning to DC narrative this time as a Philly vs Strasburg off DL?  Tempting.  Very tempting.

  1. Mitch Moreland
  2. Justin Bour … VA native
  3. Eric Hosmer
  4. Albert Pujols

SECOND BASE

Thin position again today.  Kinsler sneaky.

  1. Daniel Descalso / Ketel Marte
  2. Javy Baez
  3. Ian Kinsler

THIRD BASE

  1. Nolan
  2. Jeimer Candelario
  3. Eduardo Escobar

SHORTSTOP

Turner is someone I have had success nailing when he faces a RHP and although I don’t love the Nats as a target offense I do like Turner as a one off.  Iglesias the value play here tonight.

  1. Trea Turner
  2. Jose Iglesias
  3. Amed Rosario
  4. Nick Ahmed
