DONGERS CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS — Day #3

https://www.draftkings.com/draft/contest/58895388

You do not need to use a player from the Dongers Club tonight with only 4 games on the slate….

Thursday, August 23rd …

Another four game slate tonight just like in the afternoon and the top priced pitcher tonight is ………. Cole fricken Hamels.

WEATHER

Two games in domes — all games will play.

PITCHING

Tyler Glasnow … We get a high velo guy against the Royals, one of the rare spots where I love going an arm vs KC as they’re always chalky and usually don’t kill you if you fade them, but tonight he could be on and strikeout the entire squad.  I’m not a big Glasnow guy, but he’s worth it today IMO.

Sean Newcomb … Atlanta is going to roll on the Marlins today and we should go against the Hamels chalk with a leverage Red or two, which puts me squarely on Newcomb as my second arm today at 7800.  He’s done well in Miami vs the Marlins this year and while he shouldn’t match Glasnow in strikeouts he should pitch well enough.  I have jumped on Newcomb before coming off a bad stretch going into Miami and it worked and I will do it again today.  Trust the talent.

Trevor Cahill … Not a huge Cahill guy and I don’t expect him to go deep but he would be a good safe cash game play today.

TARGET OFFENSES

Atlanta … Freeman, Acuna, Inciarte, Markakis

I think Atlanta will walk into southbeach and absolutely hit the ball all over the park against Elieser and the rest of the Marlins tonight.  Atlanta should be around 5% owned with the Cubs and Athletics gaining all the optimizer ownership tonight.  Elieser is going to be limited to 80 pitches, against the Braves that should be about 3 1/3 IP.  The Marlins pen is not the worst in the league, but it’s definitely one with upside — especially on a small slate like tonight.

Oakland — Olson, Davis, Piscotty, Chapman

Because they’re an insane team on the road and going into an underrated ballpark vs a bad sinker baller.  Those of you who cursed Matt Olson are going to regret all those comments you made about him the other day.  Love the righties here too in a park that has a good power shift for RH batters.

Tampa … Another under the radar team is Tampa.  This is a terrible spot for Duffy IMO.

FADES:    Cubs, Twins … Although I do not like Cahill that much I dont wanna bother messing with Oakland’s bullpen and if Cahill pitches well enough for a few innings the Twins will do nothing offensively.   The Cubs are frauds, I don’t chase Frauds who had ONE good inning the night before.  Find someone who writes that the Cubs are “heating up” and kick them square in the nuts.

PLAYER RANKINGS

CATCHER

Realmuto is a scary spot for Newcomb today and he and Anderson are the two main bats that I think will keep Newcomb from being the best pitcher tonight, but since I am likely going Newcomb I’ll turn to one of the Oakland guys at the top or ride Flowers if going deep into an Atlanta stack.   I would not use any of these guys on FD compared to the 1B position today.

  1. Josh Phegley/Jon Lucroy
  2. JT Realmuto
  3. Tyler Flowers

FIRST BASE

Olson is a lock for me tonight on FD because I can then throw Freeman or Cron into the UTIL spot at very low ownership.  On DK the idea to fade him would simply be for an ownership pivot but the $700 savings he has over Freeman is enough to be smart and just take the chalk on your main lineup.

  1. Matt Olson
  2. Freddie Freeman
  3. C.J. Cron

SECOND BASE

Another Oakland chalk player — shocking.   Murphy is frankly one Cub who you can consider as he should lead off again and we know he does very well in Wrigley field.

  1. Jed Lowrie
  2. Daniel Murphy
  3. Ozzie Albies

THIRD BASE

Suarez is simply a man on a mission right now and gets a lefty at reduced ownership tonight.  Love him.

  1. Eugenio Suarez
  2. Matt Chapman
  3. Matt Duffy

SHORTSTOP

There is absolutely nothing exciting about this position today.

  1. Jorge Polanco
  2. Willy Adames
  3. Marcus Semien

OUTFIELD

Limiting my exposure here to the main core teams.

  1. Ronald Acuna Jr.
  2. Nick Markakis
  3. Khris Davis
  4. Ender Inciarte
  5. Stephen Piscotty
  6. Kevin Kiermaier

THE DONGERS CLUB

  5. Eugenio Suarez – 3B
  6. Daniel Murphy – 2B
  7. Willy Adames – SS
  8. JT Realmuto – C
