Rose’ 8/9 PGA DFS Plays

OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP PLAYS   Top expensive plays by rank  Day – I think he wins here again.  Thomas – white hot right now and last years winner  Koepka – back to back top 5 in 2015 and 2016 Fleetwood – playing really well right now, does have 2 missed cuts but leaning on his confidence right now.  Fowler – never missed a cut in this tournament  Stenson – elbow still could be an issue but course fits him very well. 2 top 5 finished and 1 top 10 here. If he was healthy would be my pick to win.  Reed – FAT PAT!! 2nd last year and had never missed a cut here.  Fowler – if he could just string a few rounds together, he could be in contention to win Sunday.  Casey – back to back top 15 finishes here.    MID PRICED/CHEAP PLAYS  Oosthuizen – VERY GOOD and sneaky this week. Extremely consistent in this tournament.  Walker – won this tournament in 2016 Dufner- has made the cut in 4 of last 5  Furyk- missed the cut last year, but 4 straight made prior with a 2nd in 2013 and 5th in 2014  CORE 4 Day Walker Oosthuizen  Thomas

Rose’ WGC FIRESTONE PGA DFS Plays

WGC Bridgestone No cut this week, so we need to focus on consistency throughout the entire weekend. The course is LONG, so we’re looking for the 300+ yard hitters.    DJ – will be chalky and expensive. Averaged 69 last year and 68 in 2016 here. He does average a hair over 314 yards per drive. 2016 winner  Matsuyama – won this tournament last year with a 16 under. Averaged just over 68 a round. Not really a long hitter averaging under 300 yards per drive, but is consistent on the course.  Fowler – he’s averaged 69 or better each round in 2 out of the last 3 years. Averaging around 305 per drive.  Finau – 2nd in drive distance with 317 yards per drive but has yet to play in this tournament. He has finished in the top 3 in all of the majors this year, very consistent.  Rahm- just feels like a Rahm week. He’s been a little out of wack recently, but can put things together very quickly. 5 top 5’s since the masters.  Woods – 8 wins at this course, enough said.  Day – he does have 2 wins on the year so far, but still seems to be the forgotten man. Top 20 in his last 2 starts.   Watson – he was the runner up here in 2015, also has 2 top 20’s in the last 2 starts here.  Thomas – 6th in par 4 scoring and 2nd in fedex points. Finished 33rd and 28th in this tournament.    WINNER – RAHM

Rose’ 7/26 PGA DFS Plays

RBC CANADIAN OPEN  Ok, so we want to guys who hit the ball a country mile because there’s some Par 5’s that can be used to their advantage this week. We do have kind of a weak field, so there will be chalk with some guys.  DJ – he’s the favorite….finished 8th in this tournament last year and comes in with a 312 hard drive distance. He’s 5th in the field in approach and 1st in par 5 scoring.  Finau – he’s a bomber with a 317 yard driving distance. He’s 2nd in par 5 scoring and finished 5th last year    Vegas – back to back champ In this tournament. He’s trying to become the 1st 3 peat winner in a PGA tour event since Steve Stricker did it from 09-11.  Hoffman – he has a 2nd and 7th finish in this tournament and 3 straight top 20 finishes.  Reavie – he’s made 4 straight cuts in this tournament but really need to get some legs on his drives averaging only 288 yards. Bit of a long shot, but has been consistent in this tourney.    Varner – crushes the ball with a 308 average drive. He’s going to get some ownership, but this course fits his style.  Kuchar – another guy that hasn’t missed a cut in this tournament and Finished 2nd in 2013. He’s 17th in approach but like Reavie, needs a little more carry on his drives averaging only 288 yards as well.  LONG SHOTS  Xiong  Kirk Champ

Canadien Open PGA DFS

The Brittish Open was nothing short of a disaster week for me (and many) but me specifically.  Being dead early Friday on a major is never fun but we take it and move in. This week is the Canadien Open at Glen Abbey Golf Club on Ontario, Canada.   Jhonnathan Vegas has won the tournament two years straight and should gain a ton of chalk because of that and he has really good odds this week despite having not really played well lately.  Full 100% fade for me.   Based on the course most are going to target golfers who rank near the top in Driving Distance and who do well on Par 5’s (normally the long hitters).   core plays to focus on in each tier are in BOLD   STUDS Dustin Johnson … I think he has a good round this week and is the bomber I want to target the most Brooks Koepka … I prefer DJ Tony Finau … One of my core plays this week, good on par 5’s. Joaquin Niemann Gary Woodland It is looking like Finau is going to be the chalk in this range and is someone to really consider in cash, but in tournaments with the volatility of PGA he’s a decent tournament fade.  I kinda like the idea of a stars and scrubs build this week so pairing DJ and Finau is still my preferred route.   MID RANGE Jamie Lovemark Keith Mitchell … Consistently a bomber and will likely be low owned this week. Keegan Bradley Ollie Schneiderjans Beyong Hun-An Kevin Tway VALUE / PUNT Nick Watney J.T. Poston Chez Reavie Brandon Harkins Tom Lovelady Benjamin Silverman If you go with two of the top tier guys (specifically DJ) then you gotta get 3+ down in this range

Rose’ PGA DFS Plays

The Open Championship   Guys in the early morning will have the benefit of the weather, rather than the later guys so keep that in mind when construction.    Stenson – 2016 winner, but he’s also dealing with an elbow injury so take caution. He’s 1st in driving accuracy and bogey avoidance.    Rose – 7 top 10 finishes this year. Ranks in the top 15 in ball striking and bogey avoidance.    Grillo – bit of a sleeper this week. 6th in fairways hit and 9th in bogey avoidance.    Thomas – 4th in strokes gained and 5th in birdie or better rate. He’s a little pricey but should play well with the weather.    Reavie – 10th in fairways hit and 22nd in bogey avoidance. Cheap on both sites   Howell III – 6th in bogey avoidance and top 25 greens in regulation. Decently priced on FanDuel at $9,200   Hadley – very cheap on DK. 34th I. Strokes gained, but 9th in birdie or better. Price play for DK   Stanley – really accurate which you’re going to need to be this week. 5th in fairways hit and 8th greens in regulation.  Fleetwood – owns the course record at Carnoustie (63). 13th in tee to green.

The Open – DFS Cheat Sheet

The Open Championship will be back to Carnoustie, without a doubt one of the best courses in the World — dont @ me…   The story this week is how dry and quick the course is going to be and there’s a ton of focus on how drives are going to roll forever where we’ll see players hitting middle irons off the tee box and still driving it 300+ yards.  So there’s some thought that you want bombers here, but with the conditions aiding everyone I don’t think bombers is as important as players who are accurate in their short game.  The greens are going to be just as bad with the roll in my mind and so accuracy to the pin is going to be key.   Favorite plays in each tier are bolded STUDS Dustin Johnson Justin Thomas Rory McIlroy Justin Rose Brooks Koepka … Will be very popular given price and recent major success. UPPER MID RANGE Sergio Garcia Hideki Matsuyama Francesco Molinari … Faded last week was a bad move, playing extremely well right now Henrik Stenson Marc Leishman Phil Mickelson MID RANGE Brendan Grace Adam Scott Patrick Cantlay Shane Lowry Ian Poulter Louis Oosthuizen Chris Wood LOW RANGE Tony Finau Ryan Armour Kevin Na Matthew Southgate Ryan Fox Gary Woodland   Tournament Winner:    Justin Thomas Favorite Core:    Thomas, Matsuyama, Oosthuizen

John Deere Classic GPP Plays

John Deere Classic    Zach Johnson – Top 20 last 2 tournaments he’s played in, also won here in 2012  DeChambeau – top 10 in 2 of his last 3 tournaments. Defending champ.  Hadley – 7 Top 10 finishes this year, due for a bounce back tournament after being on fire earlier in the year.  Reavie – he’s cheap, and has missed the cut only once in the last 7 times.  Campbell – has never missed a cut here while placing in the top 20 5 times.  LONG SHOTS Stanley Moore – 2016 champ and 4 top 20 finishes in his last 7 starts  Niemann – Youngster is coming into this tournament after a T-5 at Greenbrier Hardy – Playing at “home” being an Illinois native Kraft – T-5 here last year, was also runner up at Greenbrier

John Deere Classic – PGA DFS Cheat Sheet

The John Deere Classic does not draw a huge crowd and is a course that plays well to those who have been on it before and also have good short games. The field is smaller due to the British Open being next week and the Scottish Open is this week. You should not have any problem getting a good lineup in on FD this week based on pricing and DK isn’t that much tighter either with the smaller field.

At the Turn Rose’ PGA Cheat Sheet

Quicken loans invitational cheat sheet    It’s a pretty weak field this week. There’s some expensive guys, but I think our best route is to load up with some mid range guys who can give you a shot on the final day.  STUDS Stanley Fowler Na   MID RANGE (Best roster construction) Streelman  Lingmerth  Armour  Cink  Crane Spaun

PGA DFS Picks – Quicken Loans National Picks

Whats up ScoutArmy — it’s a quiet PGA DFS week but its a special tournament to me as the PGA is at the TPC Avenel this week in Potomac, MD.   Prior to them re-doing the course I used to caddy there back in high school for the pro-am when it was the Kemper Open.  And the pro the last year I did it won the tournament — Justin Leonard — so he always has a special place in my heart. Anyways, here’s some of the picks I have for this week’s field which is not that top heavy.   CORE PICKS Rickie Fowler … Rickie is reportedly only here to honor a sponsorship commitment, but I still think he will play well and I prefer him over Woods in the higher priced tier this week. Jamie Lovemark … Has been consistent of late and will be a popular/chalk play this week.  He’s a core chalk play for me this week. Beyong Hun-An … Beyonce as I call him is someone who feels like a boom or bust play, but I’ll have plenty of him/her this week.   Vegas odds are good considering the DK price this week.   OTHERS TO CONSIDER 10k+:   Mac Leishaman, Kyle Stanley 8k – 10k:  Kevin Streelman, Beau Hossler, Chesson Hadley < 8k:  Billy Horschel, Si Woo Kim, Sung Kang, Brian Gay, Jason Kokrak   LONGSHOT WINNER PREDICTION Bill Haas … This is not a long course and Haas should play well here this week.   In recent years this tournament always being after the US Open and before “The Open” it typically has drawn off the top tier winners and Haas is my guy in that spot this week.
