NHL DFS: Slap Shot – 8/6

Geriak remains without power so you get me again. Good news is I went 5-0 on the picks yesterday. Bad news is you get me again today I guess as Geriak is busy trying to chop tree’s down to get out of his neighborhood or something. Either that or he’s still upset that he hasn’t played Joc Pederson this week in MLB DFS and is just at the pub pounding the beers … “Hurricane” in fucking Connecticut?? Who’s the sucker here? I kid of course. Favorite Line Stacks CAPS v FLYERS Nick Backstrom, T.J. Oshie, Jakub Vrana Country rooods. They better play Oshie’s goal song when he scores today in what definitely is my favorite game of the day. No Carter Hart for Philly today means lock in the over as the defenses in this game will not live up to their end of the bargain which is having to play good defense. The Capitals should remain without John Carlson as they are cautious without him — but even if he plays I expect this game to still be a high scoring affair as 7 of the last 10 meetings between these teams have hit the over. While Ovechkin will certainly appeal as a top play and should prove valuable on the PP, it’s the Backstrom-Oshie-Vrana line that probably gets better scoring chances in 5v5 and has better value. BLUE JACKETS Wennberg – Cam Atkinson – Folighno – Jones I know that they didn’t bring the Cannon into the Bubble up in Toronto, but this is a day we’re trading Americans in Canada for the NHL games and allowing the Canadiens to have their day in Baseball later today (a little tease for the Dongers Club but not what you are thinking). Anyways, I really wanted to look at this game next because with Toronto evening the series at 1-1 and now Columbus getting the last line change I expect this game to be LOADED in favor of the Blue Jackets today. Toronto is likely losing this series and got a little pressure off with a win in game two but all they did was piss off Torts to get his team fired up for today. Then again, the only thing that stops this line from going off is Torts himself. Columbus D-Men is the key ONE OFFS The roster construction today with me liking value from Washington and Columbus (man they’re cheap) is driving this to be a value combo/stack day + stud one offs. Obviously Matthews and Ovechkin are your high end stars who always get bonuses and achieve value so you don’t need me to hype them up at all as one offs – but the game to look at is the other “round-robin” spot in this slate between Vegas and St. Louis. Both teams are rested after shaking off the early rust and it’s Vegas who draws my attention as they’ve been able to dictate the style versus the Blues in prior meetings. Marchessault had a whopping 11 SOG last time they met with both the prior meetings being extremely high scoring. Jonathan Marchessault Vlad Tarasenko – Only 14 MIN of ice time last game as he probably doesn’t quite have his legs under him yet (always a weird analogy, I mean, where else would someones legs be?) but obviously his goal scoring ability is still there. TOP DEFENSEMAN Seth Jones / Zach Werenski (CBUS) Ivan Provorov (PHI) Alex Edler (VAN) GOALIES Connor Hellebuyck – Jets … The Jets will stave off elimination if … Hellebuyck stands on his head and delivers them a 2-0 shutout. SLAP SHOTS LINE LOCK OF THE DAY: Backstrom – Oshie – Vrana (Caps) ONE OFF STUD WINGER: Marchessault (Vegas) ONE OFF VALUE WINGER: Travis Konecny (Flyers) TOP DEFENSEMAN: Seth Jones (Jackets) BETS: Canucks/Wild – (UNDER 5.5) Caps over Flyers – (OVER 6) Knights over Blues (OVER 5.5) Blue Jackets over Leafs (No Play on Total) Jets over Flames (UNDER 5.5)

Whether it be a lack of motivation or god knows what else this team seems to disappoint more often than not. Can they explode for five goals? Absolutely, but I’ll side with the better defensive team and quite frankly the team with the better head coach. Darcy Kuemper (ARI) – Kuemper was stellar in game one as Arizona more or less pushed the Preds around early on. Kuemper has proven to be more than capable of this group and has had Nashville’s number in eating of his last three outings against the Preds. Igor Shesterkin / Henrik Lundqvist (NYR) – Whoever is in net for the Rangers tonight needs to be in desperation mode in a must-win situation and we can be assured that Carolina will continue to pump shots to the net as they’ve directed 37 and 34 pucks on net in the first two games. GOOD LUCK!!

The first two days of the playoffs have been exciting and full of action. The idea of having hockey all day long is nothing short of fantastic and it all continues today. CENTERS WINGS DEFENSE TOP $ Connor McDavid (EDM) Brayden Point (TB) Nikita Kucherov (TB) Alex Ovechkin (WSH) John Carlson (WSH) (questionable) Oscar Klefbom (EDM) MID $ Sean Monahan (CGY) William Karlsson (VGK) Brendan Gallagher (MTL) Johnny Gaudreau (CGY) Jonathan Marchessault (VGK) Shea Weber (MTL) Mark Giordano (CGY) Neal Pionk (WPG) VALUE $ Nick Suzuki (MTL) Kirby Dach (CHI) Tomas Tatar (MTL) Alex Debrincat (CHI) Jakub Vrana (WSH) Erik Gustafsson (CHI) Justin Schultz (PIT) Jeff Petry (MTL) Favorite Line Stacks *Note: Lines are subject to change depending on morning skate lines. Vegas Golden Knights Marchessault – Stastny – Smith Calgary Flames Gaudreau – Monahan – Lindholm Tampa Bay Lightning Palat – Point – Kucherov Value Line Stacks Chicago Blackhawks Debrincat – Dach – Sikura Montreal Canadiens Tatar – Danault – Gallagher Top Goalies Carey Price (MTL) – I’m going back to the well with Price after he delivered a stellar effort in game one of this series stopping 39 of 41 shots he faced. Price’s salary did go up a tad but he’s considered a high upside play. Robin Lehner (VGK) – The only concern I have with Lehner is that he doesn’t see a ton of shots. Outside of that, I expect Vegas to win this game and for Lehner to control the Golden Knights’ end. Mike Smith (EDM) – Smitty is very boom or bust and has been for years. This is the ultimate shoot for the upside play as he should see a lot of volume. How he handles those pucks to the net is the mystery. more thoughts on the netminders… I would expect Matt Murray (PIT) and Cam Talbot (CGY) to be the popular options in net tonight, neither of which I have any interest in playing. I generally lean towards a goalie that brings upside and can expect to see a lot of pucks on net. I don’t see that scenario from either Murray or Talbot and their price tags help solidify my decision. GOOD LUCK!!
NHL DFS: Point Shot Cheat Sheet – 8/2

I’m focusing on the main slate on Draftkings here which is the full five-game set. FanDuel is splitting the two slates with two early games and three late games. I prefer playing on DK personally so that’s where my focus will generally be but these plays are valid for both sites, slate dependant of course. Toronto Maple Leafs Nylander – Matthews – Marner Boston Bruins Marchand – Bergeron – Pastrnak Arizona Coyotes Hall – Dvorak – Kessel Value Line Stacks Nashville Predators Turris – Duchene – Granlund Vancouver Canucks Pearson – Horvat – Boeser Top Goalies Jordan Binnington (STL) – Binnington has been battle-tested and stood tall in the past for a very good defensive team overall in the Blues. Outside of the top line and Cale Makar on the blue line, Colorado I feel is limited offensively. If St. Louis can neutralize the 420 line, I like Binnington’s chances of producing a rock-solid effort. Darcy Kuemper (ARI) – Kuemper is priced down and should see a good amount of shots. This game will depend a lot on which Nashville team shows up. The heavy offensively talented group or the fraudulent, inconsistent team that we’ve seen time and time again. Freddy Andersen (TOR) – Look for Andersen to see a ton of shots because as we’ve seen in the past, Toronto tends to yield a ton of shots with their leaky defense. I don’t love Andersen’s price tag but the high-save upside is there. GOOD LUCK!!
