Traditionally the Week 12 slate has always been one of the most anticipated of the season. In many leagues, Week 12 marks the trade deadline, but normally falling on Thanksgiving, it also means an entire Thursday filled with food, family, friends, and football.

With three games filling up the entire day, we must take a different approach in our usual Thursday Night Football preview. For this week, I’ll take a broad look at all three games and make my favorite picks for each game.

Things haven’t been easy this year, so please take the time to be appreciative for what you still have, and the things that truly matter in life besides football. We wish you the happiest of Thanksgivings and hope you’re able to enjoy a full day’s worth of pigskin with those that mean the most.

Chicago Bears (-3) at Detroit Lions; over/under 41

The opening game of the slate isn’t exactly the most desirable, but there’s still plenty of fantasy ramifications on the line. Rumors are swirling that this could be Matt Nagy’s last game of the helm for Chicago, but it seems odd to let a coach prepare a team to play if his fate’s already decided and the team is still technically in the playoff hunt. It would also go against the 100-plus year history of the franchise never dismissing a coach mid-season.

Detroit won’t part ways with Dan Campbell this week but the league’s only winless team still has plenty of questions- like who will be under center?

Last week’s Thursday Night Football matchup didn’t exactly go as intended. While an entertaining, high-scoring contest would be a nice change of pace, Week 11’s game doesn’t quite project to be filled with too many fireworks.

The red-hot 6-4 New England Patriots, winners of four straight and 5-of-6 overall, have surged right back into AFC playoff contention, while the 4-5 Falcons look to regroup after a 40-point dismemberment at the hands of the Cowboys in Dallas last Sunday.

This is a rematch from Super Bowl LI, so get ready for lots of 28-3 references. Aside from that, there are plenty of sports betting, fantasy football, and DFS implications at play, so let’s preview the game…

While Week 10’s Thursday Night Football game doesn’t appear to be one of the season’s best slates on paper, there is still plenty of fantasy football and DFS ramifications on deck for Baltimore’s trip to Miami.

The 6-2 Ravens emerged from their Week 8 bye with an exciting 34-31 overtime victory over Minnesota, while the Dolphins got their second victory of the 2021 campaign with a home victory over the hapless Houston Texans.

Last week was certainly a slate we’re ready to move on from. The expansive bye week wreaked havoc on nearly every fantasy football roster and last Thursday’s showdown between the Browns and Broncos left a lot to be desired.

It seems like half the league is on bye thanks to all the fantasy talent missing this week. Yet, the schedule makers were still able to rustle up a seemingly bland Thursday Night Football matchup between the spiraling Denver Broncos and injury-ravaged Cleveland Browns.

After opening the season 3-0, Denver has dropped three straight and hopes to take advantage of the short-handed Browns. Meanwhile, Cleveland has also dropped two straight and enters this week 3-3.

Thursday Night Football games sometimes involve losing teams that are forced to trot out an abbreviated playbook. This often leads to sloppy, low-scoring games that leave a little something to be desired.

That won’t be the case in Week 6 as the 4-1 defending Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers bring their high-octane offense into Lincoln Financial Field to take on the 2-3 Philadelphia Eagles in a game that featured the third-highest over/under (52.5) total on the Week 6 slate.
