The Cycle

The Staff  Cole – Obvious chalk matchup for him. Strikeout heavy team, where Cole has double digit in 2 of his last 3 games. Plutko – He’s been a bit of a reverse splits pitcher in his 3 starts this year, but he’s also striking out righties around 22%. As long as he can make it through the order the first time without an damage (.269 average and 4 homers) he will be fine. Richards – Relying heavily on his circle change again, which I always say is one of the most devastating pitches in the league. He’s hasn’t allowed more than 1 run in each of his last 4 games while striking out 24 in that span.   The Bats  Atlanta – 2018 road Pivetta gave up a 17.7% HR/FB rate and 1.36 HR/9. In Atlanta in his career he’s striking out just around 16% White Sox – Anderson hit a huge 3 run homer last night and continues his smash of LHP tonight. Anderson/Abrea/Garcia/McCann Miami – I think they get a little overlooked tonight. Cooper has been crushing everything, while Anderson matches well against Brault. Boston – Top of the lineup does it tonight. Betts/Benni/JD

MLB DFS Flyballs & Fastballs 6/13

This article is a quick look at tonight’s  slate  with My favorite pitchers, teams and a few bats. For a deeper look take a peak at Steve Renners Dongers Club   PITCHERS David Price Priced has pitched well this year limiting LHHs to a .161 average and RHHs to a .233 average. He has also done a good job at limiting HRs. The K rate is what intrigues me the most in this matchup as he strikes out LHHs at a 26% clip and RHHs at a 30# clip. The Ranger as a team strike out close to 27% of the time vs LHPs. Also Consider: Jacob deGrom     VALUE ARM Jack Flaherty Solid spot for Flaherty as he faces the Mets tonight in New York.  The Mets have been rolling out a right handed heavy lineup as of late and Flaherty has pitched well vs RHHs limiting then to a .205 average while striking them out at a 31.5% clip. This year the Mets have struck out at a 24% clip vs RHP. Looking at 6 innings 7-8Ks and 2 ERs.   TEAM/S Boston Red Sox vs Sampson( .294 average, 2HRs/9, 45% HC and low K rate vs RHH’s). Nice park for hitters. CORE: Betts,  Bogaerts 2 favorites with Martinez as another option.  VALUE: Bradley Jr.    NY Yankees vs Nova (.358 average to LHHs, .302 average to RHHs with 1.6 HR/9 to both sides). CORE: Hicks, Gregarious, Gardner  VALUE: Maybin Other: Torres   Coors Padres vs Gray- Renfroe(hit very well vs Gray and hits well vs his pitch types.)Myers & Reyes with Kinsler as solid value.  Renfroe is my favorite. Rockies vs Strahm- Rockies are expensive but a few I like vs Strahm- Blackmon(sneaky play as Strahm has struggles with lefties), Arenado (if he plays) Desmond.   BATS Max Muncy Love this spot for Muncy tonight as he faces a lefty at home. Yes Muncy bats from the left side and he has crushed LHP this year with a .301 average, .274 ISO and 48% HC. Over the past 5 games he has 3 multi hit games and 3 HRs one of which he double donged. He should come in at very low ownership tonight with Coors and a few other good hitting options on the slate. I can see the Dodgera getting to  Lester tonight and would play Hernandez, Taylor and Bellinger.   Mookie Betts Betts gets another good matchup vs a RHP who struggles more vs RHHs. This year Betts has just shy of a .400 wOBA and over a .200 ISO vs RHP. He has also hitting the ball hard as of late. Stack with Bogaerts.   Didi Gregarious  I was back and forth with Didi and Xander for my favorite SS. I give Gregarious a slight edge with the matchup and how he has been hitting the ball since coming back.   VALUE BATS Jacoby Jones- moves up to the lead off spot and has been on fire. Hits much better vs RHP. Jackie Bradley Jr. Kevin Cron Kike Hernandez/Chris Taylor Chance Sisco Ian Kinsler- cheap Coors bat Cavin Biggio- low ownership HR tonight. Jose Rondon- hits LHP well.

The Cycle

The Staff  Soroka – 8 straight quality starts for the young kid, while he’s only given up more than 1 run once all year. He doesn’t strike out a ton of guys, and Pittsburgh has done a really good job recently protection with 2 strikes by fouling off pitches so upside is limited in this spot. But, Soroka can limit any damage and should be in line for the W tonight. Lucchesi – Nice spot for Looch tonight facing a SF team that has hit just .227 and 1 home run against lefties in the last 2 weeks. San Fran is also dead last in hard contact in that time frame at a ridiculous 20% hard contact. In a big park, bringing his 27.3% road k rate Looch is a nice mid range play tonight. Hess – GPP FLYERRRRRRR! Hess went off on this Toronto team earlier in the season for 8 k’s in 6 1/3 innings. (I know they didn’t have Vlad or Biggio) Toronto has struggled over the last week against rhp hitting just .200 as a team and a 25% k rate. This is a risky as hell   The Bats  Minnesota – ohhhhhhhhhhhh 5-9 yessssssss St. Louis – Yamamoto has extreme reverse splits. This is the absolute smash spot for Goldy/Dejong/Ozuna Atlanta – I don’t trust Keller enough yet to fade attacking him. Albies is white hot, and Acuna is heating up. Arizona – They’re destroying Philly pitching. Marte moves to lead off tonight with Vargas right behind him. Love the 1-2 pairing with Peralta and Escobar.

The Cycle

The Staff  Paddack – My favorite pitcher tonight by a mile. He gets a weak San Francisco team, a nice park and a team he struck out 7 guys in his first start this season. Bauer – He’s been tagged recently, but this is the spot where we see Bauer go 8 innings and strikeout double digits. E. Hernandez – He has above average strikeout stuff with 69 k’s in 48 innings in AAA. St. Louis has struggled over last week as a team against rhp with just a .213 average and 29.9% k rate.   The Bats Minnesota  – riding this wave til they cool off Yankees RHH – Vargas has been great over his last few starts, but the Yankee righties get him today. Rockies – Quintana in Coors is a bad mix. Story and Arenado take him deep.
