MLB DFS Fastballs & Flyballs 8/22/2019

Thursday night with a 9 game slate. Listed in this article I have my favorite pitching options with a value arm and a DarkHorse. I changed up the hitting a bit and listed my favorite teams to target with a few low ownership options and some value bats to add in.   PITCHERS Pitchers stats for last 30 days   Ryan Yarbrough It looks like the Rays are letting Yarbrough pitch a bit deeper into games. In his last 2 starts he has been sharp going 6.1 & 8.1 innings and only allowing 6 hits, 0 runs while striking out 18 hitters in that timeframe. On the year he has been very good vs hitters from both sides of the plate (vs LHHs .276 wOBA, 1 HR/9, 28% HC- vs RHH’s .241 wOBA, .6 HR/9, 29% HC rate). The current Os lineup has a 29% K rate against LHP. This should be another very good game for him and I can see Yarbrough going 7 innings allowing a run with 8-9 Ks   *Also consider Garrett Cole & Mile Soroka. Both have very good matchups tonight.   VALUE ARM Miles Mikolos Mikolos has been much better at home this year with a 2.43 ERA vs 6.5O on the road. His HR rate is down as well .8 HRs/9 at home along with a 50% ground ball rate. The Rockies are not the same team on the road. He usually goes around 6 innings and has thrown a complete game shut out against the Pirates earlier this year. Looking at 6-7 innings 1 ER and 7 Ks.   DARK HORSE Ariel Jurado The White Sox have a run total over 5, so I can see people shying way from Jurado tonight. Also, he has not pitched well most of the year. The White Sox have not hit well as of late vs RHP with a .233 average and 25% K rate over the last 14 days. They should get Moncada back tonight, but I still think Jurado does well enough to pay off his 5k price. He has done better on the road with giving up HR(2.5 at home to 1.4 on the road to RHH’s) and 1/9 to LHHs on the road. His ground ball rate is back up to  55% in August and has been over 50% on the road. This will help limit the long ball.  In 24 at bats held some of this team to a .213 average allowing 0 HRs. I don’t think he gets out clean(Jiminez scares me the most here and would not shock me to see him go yard), but I see him going 5 innings 2 ERs and 5-6 Ks paying off his price. The DarkHorse has some risk along with it and I only recommend using them in a 2nd lineup and or mass-multi entry. Should get around 5% or less ownership and potential 15-18 FPs.   TEAM/S + Mini stacks LA Dodgers vs Jacob Waguespack Mainly looking at the RHHs here as Waguespack has allowed close to a .400 wOBA, 2.5 HRs/9 and 50% HC to them. *Justin Turner, AJ Pollack, Will Smith(has been crushing RHP) amens Kike who hits well vs RHP at home. *Pollack, Smith & Turner would be my favorite 3. Hernandez next. Even though Waguespack has been good vs LHHs. Bellinger and Muncy have both been hitting well and could easily take him deep. Also Muncy(good price), Bellinger, Seager vs bullpen.   Atlanta Braves vs Sandy Alcantara *Freeman, Albies, Joyce would be my main focus here. Lefties have hit better vs Alcantara. Joyce & Freeman have been biting the ball well as of late along with Donaldson and Hechavarria. Acuna has been crushing vs the Marlins pitching staff.   Houstos Astros vs Jordan Zimmerman Zimmerman actually pitched well last game vs the Rays, but he is facing one of the best hitting teams tonight. Value at the bottom of the order. Guriell is expensive but usually under owned. Reddick, Toro, Chirinos or Maldonado.   *Austin Meadows/Pham/Choi- nice park shift power upside with these 3 in this matchup.    Low ownership NY Mets vs Aaron Civale Civale has pitched well so far, but the data shows some regression soon. The Mets have been one of the hottest hitting teams over the past 14 days posting a .310 average. *Alonso, Rosario, JD Davis have all been swinging hot bats. Would add Conforto in the mix. Hot weather with some wind blowing out tonight in NY.         VALUE BATS Elloy Jiminez Logan Forsythe Kolton Wong- hitting 2nd. Going yard today. Mini stack with Goldschmidt (BvP). Tyler Flowers Willy Adames Rafael Ortega   **Good Luck and Stay Cashing

The Cycle 8/20

The Staff  Gray – Nice spot here for Gray at home against a team that lost their spark. He’s been dominant over his last 3 starts striking out 24 batters any not allowing a single run. Hamels – Just so underpriced on Fanduel. He’s had a little bit of a rough patch over his last 2 starts, but in 4 of his June starts he was almost unhittable. The wind is blowing out a bit in Chicago so he has to be careful tonight, but I do like the spot. Bundy – I like him at home more than I do on the road. This isn’t the best spot for him, but if he can Manipulate his pitches around the top 4 tonight he should be just fine. Freeland – He’s spun 3 straight decent games and Is almost min price on FanDuel. The humidor should help Freeland a little bit tonight, and dammit there has to be one start where he dominates this year.   The Bats  Cleveland – I’ve learned to always play Mercado against lefties. Slamtana is hot against lefties and so is JRam Washington – Ride the lefties with how hot they’re swinging, but don’t forget Turner. St Louis – Good spot for the righties today, wouldn’t be mad if you One off Goldy Cubs – Beede struggles against righties allowing over a 40% flyball and hard contact. Baez is a lock for a bomb Braves – ACUNA every time against Miami.

MLB DFS Fastballs & Flyballs 8/20/2019

Tonight we get a full 15 game slate with some solid pitching and games. I have added a few sheets to help show some statistics for recent Pitcher form and a few team that I have interest in tonight. Along with those listed are my favorite pitcher, team to focus and bats.   PITCHERS Pitchers recent form- Last 30 days     Sonny Gray Gray has an elite 50+% ground ball rate along with a 29% K rate and under 1 HR/9. He has been very good this year and gets a solid matchup tonight against a strike out heavy Padres lineup at 25% vs RHP. The Padres have power, but have been pretty cold as of late. The one bat that could get to Gray would be Renfoe. I would not be surprised if he went yard. Looking at 6 innings 9 Ks and 1 ER:   VALUE ARM Aaron Sanchez Sanchez has pitched well since coming over the the Astros with on exception his last game where he allowed 4 HRs. This was the most HRs he allowed in a game all year. One of the biggest differences was changing his pitch selection and it looks like he went back to his old ways last game. I would think the Astros pitching staff picks up on this and they change back to what they were previously doing with Sanchez. Price is down and I think he will be popular tonight, but like his chances vs the Tigers who have struggled most of the year. Looking st 6 innings 7 Ks and 1-2 ERs.   Cal Quantrill On the other side of the Gray we get Quantrill pitching tonight. He has actually pitched very well as of late. In the last 28.3 innings allowing a 1.59 ERA and striking out 22 batters. Limiting RHHs and holding them to an elite 58% GB rate will help out tonight vs the Reds who are rolling out 6 RHHs. Aquino has been Red hot and could take him deep, but I can see him doin well enough tonight otherwise. ** Kyle Freeland out pitched Jalen Beeks. I see Freeland putting up 15 FPs tonight. TEAM/S LA Dodgers vs Sean Reid-Foley In limited innings this year and last Foley has allowed a high FB rate along with a 1.5 HRs/9 to LHHs. He faces a hot Dodger team with a lot of power upside. Over the last 7 days Bellinger, Turner, Pollcak, Smith and Beaty have all been hitting well with Muncy and Seager hitting 3 HRs and Pederson with power upside in this matchup.   ATL Braves vs Elieser Hernandez *Ronald Acuna has 8 HRs in 15 games vs the Marlins this year with a .328 average and 15 HRs in 34 career games with a .336 average. Hernadez has been pretty bad on the road with a 7.20 ERA and a 3.6 HRs/9. He throws mostly fastballs and most of the team hits the fastball well.  Freeman, Joyce, Albies and  McCann all hit from the left side where Hernandez has struggled the most, but Donaldson and Acuna also have power vs RHP.   Also consider both sides of the LAA/TEX game with hot weather, excellent hitters park and 2 sub par pitchers.   Low Ownership SEA Mariners vs Jalen Beeks On the year the Mariners have not hit well vs LHP, but as of late they are ranked 2nd in HRs and have a few batters that are red hot. Beeks is priced down on both sites, so I can see him pickup up some ownership tonight. He has actually not been that good over his last 5 games allowing 8, 5 and 4 runs in 3 of those 5 games. Austin Nola, Tom Murphy, Kyle Seager and Tim Lopes(has been leading off) would be my stack tonight. Murphy has 5 HRs over his last 3 games with 2 multi HR games. Nola has hit HRs in 3 straight games, Seager actually hits better vs LHP and Beeks has been worse vs LHHS, which makes his sneaky. Also, Seager has a 13 game hit streak going with a .345 average and 5 HRs over his last 7 games. Last, Tim Lopes has been leading off and has some shown to hit LHP well in limited at bats.   I also like the COL Rockies vs Alex Young Desmond, Story and Arenado all hit LHP well.   BATS Andre Benintendi Red Sox take on Aaron Nola tonight who has been pretty good as of late. Nola throws the curve over 30% of the time and Benintendi is ranked 2nd hitting against this pitch. He and Jackie Bradley Jr. are they 2 I have Internet in on the Red Sox as they both hit the pitch well.   Max Kepler Kepler has been cold as of late, but tonight he faces Reynaldo Lopez who has been good as of late, but got hit up a bit last game. Lopez throws mostly Fastballs and Kepler hits them very well. Leading off tonight at home and I like his chances to go yard.   Paul Goldschmidt Goldschmidt hits LHP well and has excellent BvP vs Gio going 10-17 against him. On the year he has over .400 wOBA and .300 ISO with a over a 40% HC rate. It is going to be warm in STL tonight with some wind blowing out. Like his chances of going yard a few times tonight.   Javier Baez Baez gets an excellent matchup vs Beede tonight wo has been getting smashed by hitters from both sides of the plate. Also, Beede throws the changeup as he second option and Baez crushes this pitch along with Schwarber who I have interest in as well.   *Jorge Soler & Hunter Dozier have an excellent matchup vs Bundy tonight In an excellent hitters park. I like both to go yard. VALUE BATS Tommy Edman/Dexter Fowler Roberto Perez Scott Kingery hits LHP well and Johnson is not any good. Jonathan Lucroy
