Keeping up with the Fantasy Football Injury Report is vital for that minority. It also comes in handy for daily fantasy fans. Several teams have nothing to play for in Week 18. Therefore, the fantasy starters from those squads will either be limited or unavailable. That is a key reason my serious fantasy leagues should not have anything on the line in the season finale. Christian McCaffrey (RB) San Francisco 49ers – A minor calf strain knocked the fantasy MVP out of San Francisco’s Week 17 win early. Having already clinched the NFC’s top seed, the Niners have nothing to play for this week. Therefore, McCaffrey has been ruled out. Elijah Mitchell will start Week 18. Trevor Lawrence (QB) Jacksonville Jaguars – Lawrence missed his first-ever game last week with a shoulder injury. We’ll have to get updates later in the week. However, considering the Jaguars can clinch the AFC South with a win over the lowly Titans, expect T-Law to suit up. Alvin Kamara (RB) New Orleans Saints – Kamara missed the second half of Week 17 with a sprained ankle. He is day-to-day. However, the injury is now a ‘minor’ ankle sprain. There is talk of the Eagles resting starters this week, so plan on Smith being unavailable. Jayden Reed (WR) Green Bay Packers – While delivering many fantasy titles with his 2-score effort, Reed injured his ribs and was forced to exit Sunday night’s game early. X-rays were negative, which is a good sign. We will update Reed’s status in Discord when news breaks. Raheem Mostert (RB) Miami Dolphins – Mostert missed his first game of the season on Sunday with knee and ankle injuries. Miami is in the playoffs. However, this week’s game against Buffalo is for the AFC East crown. We will have updates when available. But early indications are Mostert will practice this week. Elijah Moore (WR) Cleveland Browns – A severe concussion sent Moore to the hospital last Thursday. Moore is now home. However, with Cleveland locked into the No. 5 seed, there is no reason for Moore to suit up in Week 18. Tyler Higbee (TE) Los Angeles Rams – Higbee dislocated his shoulder last week. Since the Rams have already secured a postseason berth, there is little reason for Higbee to suit up this week. A.J. Dillion (RB) Green Bay Packers – Dillon exited Sunday night’s game with a shoulder stinger. Will Levis (QB) Tennesee Titans – A foot injury knocked Levis out of the Titans’ loss in Houston. The rookie is day-to-day. Ryan Tannehill will start if Levis is unable to go. Noah Brown (WR) Houston Texans – Brown exited Week 17 with a hip injury. Details have been scarce. DeMeco Ryans said there’s some injuries to monitor coming out of the game with the Titans. Players to pay attention to are Laremy Tunsil, Will Anderson, Noah Brown, Robert Woods, Jonathan Greenard, and the starting DTs. 2023 Lessons Learned & Bridges Burned
Year in Review: 2023 Lessons Learned & Bridges Burned Happy New Year! As we flip the calendar to 2024, now is a good time to look back upon the year that was. 2023 was a memorable one. In both good and bad ways. On the positive side, I’m very proud of the effort I and the FullTime Fantasy team put in. I had my best outcome in rankings in many years. However, that took a lot of effort. I had to refine my process and that meant spending an inordinate amount of time looking at snap counts, target share, matchups, histories, and many other factors. The results speak for themselves. Now that I won’t have to do that for eight months, it’s bittersweet. All that prep work made me a better analyst and gave me something to look forward to. Also, the FullTime Fantasy Discord was busier than ever. I did my best to always answer every question by staying true to my process. Whenever I made the wrong calls, it always bothered me. I also wanted to thank Commish Roy for his omnipresent presence and dedication in Discord and other Fantasy Football World Championship duties. Speaking of the FFWC, I had a Bestball team finish inside the top-5, which is a first. However, to accomplish that in a year like 2023, a little luck had to be involved. Mainly, by avoiding the injury bug that plagued the season. That’s just one of the many takeaways that I’m reflecting back on in my 2023 lessons learned & bridges burned. Lessons Learned In some ways, the process of building some of those winning rosters seems like so long ago. However, in other ways, it feels like only yesterday that we were publishing our 2023 rookie profiles and annual Preseason Pro features. Now is a good time to reflect and see where the process was right and what went wrong. Early QB Drafting is Dead For years, successful fantasy football managers have loaded up on skill position players and taken advantage of the depth at quarterback by value-shopping in the mid-to-late rounds. However, that started to change a couple of seasons ago and was notably different this summer. Elite quarterbacks who stay healthy and deliver 20-plus weekly points started to be drafted earlier and earlier. Guys like Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, and Jalen Hurts started to go off many draft boards in the late-2nd, or early part of Round Three. While those three signal-callers stayed healthy, each of them had fewer fantasy points scored per week than in 2022. Mahomes, in particular, dropped off precipitously and was out-scored by a pair of QBs who went undrafted in most leagues. The QB position also seems as deep as ever, with exciting young players entering the fray. This summer, you won’t see me taking a quarterback before Round 6 in non-Superflex formats. Running Back Revival Another trend that grows in popularity each summer is the WR-heavy draft approach. However, with significant injuries to Justin Jefferson, Ja’Marr Chase, and Cooper Kupp, many a #ZeroRB roster was decimated. Meanwhile, Christian McCaffrey led all payers with 24.7 PPR points scored per week. CMC stayed healthy and produced 13-plus fantasy points every week. But he wasn’t the only back who was a difference-maker. In fact, 13 running backs averaged 15-plus PPR points per game. This was up from just nine backs in 2022. Young rushers like Kyren Williams, De’Von Achane, Breece Hall, and Jahmyr Gibbs fortified the position and look like they’ll be significant fantasy contributors for years to come. On the other hand, 19 wideouts hit the same 15 PPR points per game mark. That was the same number as 2022 and one fewer than 2021. An unusual amount of injuries to first-round wide receivers played a big part in that stagnant growth. But, knowing what we went through, gives us reason for pause before we blindly give into group think next summer. Don’t Save FAAB I authored the weekly waiver wire piece. One of the key components of that series is to remind readers early on to think long-term and save plenty of FAAB budget flexibility for December. Unfortunately, in an injury-plagued year like 2023 that also had some amazing talents go undrafted, that sound and responsible advice backfired. Championship teams are littered with significant additions like Kyren Williams, Puka Nacua, Rashee Rice, and Trey McBride who largely were not drafted in July and August. When those players burst onto the scene I advocated caution. I certainly recommended “aggressive” bids of up to 25% of your remaining FAAB to acquire their services. However, that wasn’t near enough. The lesson learned, at least for this unusual year, was to get it while the gettin’ is good. If you blow your budget, you can always resort to trades. Even sacrificing a little in a forced deal is better than watching your league mate hoist the trophy after they seemingly “overbid” for that pair of young Rams’ contributors back in Week 2. Get. Your. Guys. Is there a worse feeling than trying to sneak one of your must-have sleepers by one more round only to watch them get selected two or three spots before it is your pick? That happens far too often and sometimes leads to me going on tilt and blowing an entire draft. While using ADP can be useful, never assume that the other people in your league aren’t reading the same material as you and doing their homework. Don’t be afraid to askew average draft position and take shots on your players. Better to go down with the players you cover than watch someone else score 20-plus points per game with a player that you coveted all summer. I plan on being far more aggressive this year and less concerned with appearances or justifying taking players well ahead of their established draft range. After a midseason lull, we are once again on a roll with three consecutive weeks of profit. Our Week 17 NFL Player Props aims to keep the winning ways going.
As always, I will list my seven favorite player props of the week as we gear up for Week 17’s slate of NFL matchups. All 32 teams will be in action with a pivotal matchup between the Detroit Lions and Dallas Cowboys on Saturday and no Monday night game this week. The Green Bay Packers and Minnesota Vikings will close out the week on Sunday night at U.S. Bank Stadium.

Patrick Mahomes OVER 20.5 Rushing Yards (-110)
After producing just 14 points against the Raiders in Week 16, Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs are going to be very motivated when they take on a Cincinnati Bengals franchise that has had their number in previous regular season matchups. And despite Kansas City’s struggles on offense last week, the one silver lining was that Mahomes was able to find a lot of running space. The signal caller registered a season-high 10 rushing attempts and tallied 53 yards in the Chiefs’ Christmas Day loss. Nine of those rushing attempts were on quarterback scrambles when Mahomes was under duress from Maxx Crosby and Malcom Kounce.
This week, the Chiefs’ atrocious offensive line will have to block Trey Hendrickson. With Isiah Pacheco likely sidelined, I’m anticipating Mahomes using his legs yet again out of necessity as the Bengals look to bring pressure. It also doesn’t hurt that the Chiefs face a Bengals defense that plays man-to-man coverage at a Top-10 rate. With the defensive backs zoning in on the receivers, there will be fewer eyes on Mahomes if he looks to take off from the pocket. The Bengals have surrendered a lot of yardage to mobile quarterbacks this season. Lamar Jackson, Deshaun Watson, Josh Allen, and Brock Purdy averaged 50+ rushing yards per game against the Bengals this season.
Mahomes ranks sixth among quarterbacks in rushing yards this season and has topped this line 10 times this season already. Given the struggles of the offensive line and Cincinnati’s defensive scheme, this looks like a solid wager. Take the Over.

Travis Kelce, KC (DK – $7,000/FD – $7,800)
Over his last eight games, Kelce caught 42 of his 58 targets for 443 yards and one touchdown, leading to only steady fantasy production in five games (11.80, 16.40, 15.10, 12.10, and 14.30). His recent stats (5/28 and 5/44) don’t command his current salary. He has one impact game (12/179/1) and a pair of steady showings in fantasy points (22.70 and 21.40), all coming between Week 5 and Week 7. Over his past eight matchups, he averaged 7.3 targets (8.9 in 2022 and 8.4 in 2021).
Cincinnati has the second-worst defense (98/1,020/6 on 120 targets) against tight ends, with failure in four games (SF – 91/49, PIT – 12/141, JAC – 10/91/1, and IND – 8/65/1). Over the past nine weeks, tight ends have at least eight catches in six contests.
The Chiefs’ offense (77 points over their last four games) is a mess, and Patrick Mahomes gained fewer than 6.5 yards per pass attempt in six of their previous eight games. Finally, Kelce has a winnable matchup with a slight drop in salary. I want to believe, but I can force him if he doesn’t fit my Week 17 plan…

Top-Tier Options
Justin Jefferson, MIN (DK – $8,800/FD – $9,200)
Over the past two weeks, with Nick Mullens starting at quarterback, Jefferson averaged 22.25 fantasy points in DraftKings scoring with one edge game (6/141/1). The Vikings looked his way 20 times while attempting 70 passes. He posted four stud games (9/150, 11/159, 7/149/1, and 6/85/2) to start the season (28.33 FPPG). In 2022, Jefferson posted a dominating game (9/184/2) at home vs. the Packers but an empty showing (1/15) on the road.
Green Bay drifted to 15th in wide receiver defense (218/2,522/13 on 322 targets). The only offense to solve their pass coverage vs. wideouts was the Chargers (32/415/2). Their defense did show regression in points allowed over the past two matchups (27 and 30 points), leading to 34 catches for 398 yards and three touchdowns on 49 targets (CIN and DET). CB Jaire Alexander has been suspended for this game, putting the Vikings’ wideouts in a better position for success.
Jefferson does get a nick in his profile in Week 17, with Jaren Hall starting for the Vikings. He’s been on the field for 22 plays in his rookie season, leading to eight completions on 10 passing attempts for 101 yards. Over his last two seasons at BYU, Hall gained 6,409 yards with 57 touchdowns and 11 interceptions over 22 games. He will move the chains with his legs (148/655/6).

Congratulations on preserving through a challenging season. Now isn’t the time to change your routine. But our Fantasy Football Start ‘Em Sit ‘Em Week 17 can help you decide on some close calls. Quarterbacks Start ‘Em Jared Goff (Lions) at Cowboys Jared Goff has delivered recently, surpassing 250 yards in each of his last two games. However, his fantasy output this season has been inconsistent due to limited pass attempts and touchdowns in Lions victories. Facing the Dallas Cowboys in Week 17 as underdogs, Goff’s success often correlates with high pass attempts, and even in a potential win, the game’s nature favors a pass-heavy approach. Goff has shown better results against man coverage than zone coverage, a trend likely to continue against the Cowboys, who employ man coverage at the second-highest rate in the league. While Goff remains a risky play, the circumstances suggest he has a considerable chance of posting significant fantasy numbers, potentially ranking him as a top-tier QB. Kyler Murray (Cardinals) at Eagles Kyler Murray bounced back last week after a couple of subpar outings. His dual-threat capabilities remain a key asset, and against the Eagles, who generate significant pressure, Murray might rely on his legs more. Additionally, Philadelphia has allowed the sixth-most passing yards per game, and the second-most passing touchdowns. Also, the Eagles permit the highest fantasy points per game to quarterbacks this season. In a game where the Cardinals could be playing catch-up, Murray presents a strong fantasy option. Sit ‘Em Tua Tagovailoa (Dolphins) at Ravens Tua Tagovailoa faces challenges in Week 17 against the Ravens, with Jaylen Waddle likely sidelined and a recent three-game stretch of scoring less than 18 fantasy points. Also, the Ravens’ defense, ranked No. 2 in the fewest fantasy points allowed to opposing quarterbacks this season, poses a significant obstacle. Tagovailoa should be limited to Superflex and two-quarterback leagues, given the tough matchup and recent struggles. Finally, Miami’s implied total of 16 points is indicative of a fade. Jordan Love (Packers) at Vikings Jordan Love’s recent performances have cooled off, and injuries to key receivers create additional hurdles for him. Facing the Minnesota Vikings, who have allowed the fourth-fewest fantasy points to quarterbacks over the last four weeks, Love’s potential struggles against their zone defense could impact his fantasy output. While Love maintains a relatively high floor, the matchup suggests caution. Additionally, a repeat of his previous game against the Vikings is likely. In that game, Love was held to 229 passing yards and one touchdown. Running Backs Start ‘Em Clyde Edwards-Helaire (Chiefs) vs. Bengals The availability of Isiah Pacheco (concussion) for Week 17 against Cincinnati remains uncertain. Most players with a confirmed concussion miss at least one game following the diagnosis. In Pacheco’s absence, Clyde Edwards-Helaire is expected to start for the Chiefs. CEH will play nearly full-time, especially with Jerick McKinnon on injured reserve. Edwards-Helaire has the potential for a standout week, making him a recommended start in all leagues. Devin Singletary (Texans) vs. Titans Devin Singletary faces some concerns after his recent good performances. While he remains the primary early-down running back, the Texans’ emphasis on passing situations may limit Singletary’s opportunities. However, against the Titans, who present the third-best matchup for running backs, Singletary’s chances for a solid performance increase. Houston’s recent success against the Titans, coupled with the potential return of quarterback C.J. Stroud, positions Singletary as a viable fantasy option in championship week. Sit ‘Em Derrick Henry (Titans) at Texans Derrick Henry faces the Texans’ run defense once again after a challenging Week 15 matchup. Houston’s success in containing Henry with only 16 carries for 9 yards raises concerns. The Texans have limited opposing running backs to minimal rushing yards in their recent games. While it’s tough to bench Henry, the potential for a minimal stat line in Week 17 makes him a risky start. Especially considering his lower PPR points per game in away games this season. Chuba Hubbard (Panthers) at Jaguars Chuba Hubbard, despite consistent scoring in recent weeks, faces a tough matchup against the Jaguars. Jacksonville has allowed the sixth-fewest rushing yards to running backs this season, limiting Hubbard’s potential upside. Also, Hubbard’s effectiveness as a runner has declined and he’s not catching as many balls as he did early this season. In a challenging matchup, fantasy managers with alternative options are advised to explore other starting running backs for Week 17. Wide Receivers Start ‘Em Brandin Cooks (Cowboys) vs. Lions Brandin Cooks carries a substantial upside, especially when playing at home. His impressive fantasy performances in three of his last four home games, coupled with Detroit’s struggles against receivers, make Cooks a high-upside streaming option for Week 17. Additionally, Detroit has allowed the second-most yards and fifth-most touchdowns to receivers since Week 12, emphasizing Cooks’ potential to make a significant impact and potentially secure a fantasy title. Zay Flowers (Ravens) vs. Dolphins Zay Flowers has seen an increased role in the Ravens’ offense, with double-digit targets in two of the last three games and touchdowns in three of the last four. Facing the Miami Dolphins, who allow an above-average amount of fantasy points to wide receivers, Flowers has the opportunity to continue his recent success. The volume of passes against the Miami defense, combined with Flowers’ recent contributions, positions him well for a potentially strong performance in what is expected to be a closely contested game and a possible shootout. Sit ‘Em Tyler Lockett (Seahawks) vs. Steelers Tyler Lockett’s inconsistent production and the Seahawks’ matchup against the Steelers, who have allowed the fifth-fewest fantasy points to wide receivers in the last four weeks, present concerns. Christian McCaffrey, SF (DK – $9,600/FD – $11,000)
The 49ers had McCaffrey on the field for all of their plays last week, leading to his eighth consecutive game with more than 100 combined yards. He has a touchdown in 13 of his 15 starts with a combined 21 scores. His two impact games (48.70 and 41.70) came against the Cardinals. McCaffrey has a floor of 20.00 fantasy points in eight other matchups. He is on pace to gain 2,190 combined yards with 24 touchdowns and 71 catches on 364 touches.
Washington fell to 29th in running back defense (26.13 FPPG) after allowing more than 28.00 fantasy points to backs in their last eight games. The Jets and Breece Hall drilled the Commanders for 242 combined yards with two touchdowns and 12 catches. Running backs have 16 touchdowns with success in the passing game (82/587/5).
McCaffrey has an excellent matchup, with a high floor in fantasy points. The 49ers should score at will in this game, but they could give their star running back some snaps off if Washington doesn’t put up a fight on the scoreboard.

Over the past six weeks, Hurts has one passing touchdown or fewer in five starts. He held value by his success in the run game (59/260/8). His completion rate (60.3%) over this span is well below his first nine games (68.9%). Despite his direction, Hurts has already set career highs in completions (327), passing attempts (499), and combined touchdowns (35). When at his best, he scored more than 30 fantasy points in three matchups (31.35, 31.55, and 38.50).
The Cardinals rank 25th in quarterback defense (21.94). Only the Giants (380/3) scored more than 30.00 fantasy points. The Rams (229/4) and 49ers (262/4) delivered the most success in touchdowns over the past four weeks. Quarterbacks rushed for 285 yards and five touchdowns on 61 carries. Five offenses rushed for more than 175 yards.
The Eagles played better offensively in Week 16 (471 combined yards with three touchdowns, four field goals, and 33 points), pointing to success in scoring this week. I sense I have Hurts under-projected this week as he looks poised to have a 4X floor in this upside matchup...
