NFL Wide Receiver Report – Week 17

Wide Receivers Michael Thomas, NO (DK – $9,900/FD – $9,200) Last week Thomas set the NFL record for receptions (145) after his third straight impact game (11/134/1, 12/128/1, and 12/136/1). Over his previous 11 games, he gained over 100 yards in nine games and eight contests with ten catches or more. His catch rate (82.4) is elite while averaging 11.7 targets per game. Thomas beat the Panthers for ten catches for 101 yards and one TD on 11 targets in Week 12. Carolina fell to 24th in WR defense (37.61 FPPG – 218/2703/12 on 335 targets). Seven WRs gained over 100 yards against the Panthers (Chris Godwin – 8/121/1, D.J. Chark – 8/164/2, Chris Godwin – 10/51, Davante Adams – 7/118, Calvin Ridley – 8/143/1, Michael Thomas – 10/101/1, and Tyler Lockett – 8/120/1). CB James Bradberry will give up plenty of yards with only one TD allowed. The Saints will move Thomas around in formation, and he will get open while catching almost everything thrown his way. His only negative in Week 17 is hand issue that limited his practice time this week. Exceptional floor with an explosive ceiling if the Saints need to throw. Julio Jones, ATL (DK – $8,500/FD – $8,500) Over the last two games, Jones played at a high-level (13/134/2 and 10/166), pushing him to fourth in WR scoring (259.70 Fantasy points). He gained over 100 yards in six games in 2019 with six TDs. With Calvin Ridley injured, Matt Ryan looked his way 35 times over the previous two games. In Week 12, Jones caught five passes for 68 yards against the Bucs. Tampa allows the most Fantasy points to WRs (44.02 FPPG – 220/2954/21 on 355 targets). Nine WRs gained over 100 yards receiving against the Bucs (Sterling Shepard – 7/100/1, Robert Woods – 13/164, Cooper Kupp – 9/121/1, Michael Thomas – 11/182/2, Tyler Lockett – 13/152/2, D.K. Metcalf – 6/123/1, Christian Kirk – 6/138/3, Michael Thomas – 8/114/1, Marcus Johnson – 3/105/1, and Danny Amendola – 8/102). CB Carlton Davis continues to improve, leading to WRs catching only half of their chances while allowing too many TDs. Makes sense, but Tampa will rush the QB while the Falcons can have risk pass protection. Davante Adams, GB (DK – $8,000/FD – $8,400) The rhythm between Aaron Rodgers and Adams picked up over the last two games (7/103/1 and 13/116) while receiving 29 combined targets. Over his previous eight games, he has 61 catches for 706 yards and four TDs on 93 targets (11.6 per game). His recent pace puts Adams on a higher path than 2018 (111/1386/13) except for TDs. He needs 96 yards to reach 1,000 for the second time in his career. The Lions rank 29th in WR defense (40.30 FPPG – 206/2830/18 on 336 targets) with seven WRs (Larry Fitzgerald – 8/113/1, Stefon Diggs – 7/142, Michael Gallop – 9/148, Randall Cobb – 4/115/1, Anthony Miller – 9/140, Chris Godwin – 5/121, and Breshad Perriman – 5/113/3) gaining over 100 yards receiving. CB Darius Slay should cover Adams on most plays, which will control his explosiveness. Green Bay has no choice but to throw Adams the ball, and he does have upside in scoring. Tyreek Hill, KC (DK – $7,700/FD – $8,200) With KC playing better defense and not being forced to throw, Hill only has 28 targets over his previous four games. His only game came in Week 10 (11/157/1) while three other contests of value (5/80/2, 6/140/1, and 5/67/2). Hill has 52 catches for 783 yards and seven TDs on 82 targets over his previous nine full games. The Chargers remain third in WR defense (28.05 FPPG – 167/1951/10 on 232 targets) despite struggling to defend WRs in Week 15 (14/203/1). One WR (Kenny Golladay – 8/117/1) gained over 100 yards vs. LA. CB Michael Davis will allow a high catch rate with minimal damage in TDs, but he’ll have a tough time covering Hill in this matchup. Possible impact game if the Chargers put up a fight on the scoreboard. Julian Edelman, NE (DK – $7,300/FD – $7,500) Edelman continues to battle multiple minor injuries, leading to a couple of quiet games (2/9 and 5/72). On the year, he has five 20-point Fantasy games (8/110/1, 9/113, 8/78/2, 6/106/1, and 8/95/1) while having a floor of 12.20 Fantasy points over ten of his previous 11 starts. The Patriots have looked his way 146 times (9.7 targets per game) in 2019 with ten contests with double-digit targets. In Week 2, he had four catches for 51 yards on four targets vs. the Dolphins. Miami allows the second-most Fantasy points to WRs (41.10 FPPG – 189/2735/27 on 317 targets). They’ve allowed two TDs or more to WRs in six straight games with four of their previous five opponents gaining over 200 yards. Nine WRs gained over 100 yards against Miami (Marquise Brown – 4/147/2, Terry McLaurin – 4/100/2, Juju Smith-Schuster – 5/103/1, John Brown – 9/137/2, Jarvis Landry – 10/148/2, Alshon Jeffery – 9/137/1, Robby Anderson – 7/116/1, Sterling Shepard – 9/111, and Tyler Boyd – 9/128/2). Edelman has a winnable matchup, and Tom Brady should look his way earlier in the game. Allen Robinson, CHI (DK – $7,200/FD – $7,800) The Bears looked Robinson’s way 12 times last week, but he only caught six balls for 53 yards while missing on a long TD after an overthrown ball by Mitchell Trubisky. Robinson played well over his previous five games (32/443/4 on 56 targets) while adding three other contests of value (7/102, 7/97/2, and 10/87/1) earlier in the season. The Vikings held him to seven catches for 77 yards in Week 4. Minnesota slipped to 27th in WR defense (38.97 FPPG – 215/2564/18 on 321 targets). Seven WRs gained over 100 yards vs. the Vikings (Davante Adams – 7/106, Danny Amendola – 8/105, Tyreek Hill – 6/140/1, Amari Cooper – 11/147/1, Randall Cobb – 6/106/1, Courtland Sutton – 5/113, and Davante Adams – 13/116). Minnesota will rest their starters,

NFL Running Back Report – Week 17

Running Backs Christian McCaffrey, RB (DK – $10,000/FD – $11,000) With Lamar Jackson sitting out this week, McCaffrey needs 6.60 Fantasy points to be the top-scoring Fantasy player in 2019. He averages 29.89 FPPG with eight games with over 30.0 Fantasy points. McCaffrey has 2,294 combined yards with 18 TDs and 109 catches (most in NFL history at RB). He needs 216 combined yards to rank first in NFL history (136 yards to finish second). Even with his success, McCaffrey rushed for fewer than 90 yards in each of his previous six contests. In Week 12, he gained 133 combined yards with two TDs and nine catches vs. the Saints. New Orleans ranks 6th in RB defense (19.74 FPPG), with three teams scoring over 30.0 Fantasy points (34.40, 45.40, 32.55). They allow 4.3 yards per rush with RBs scoring 11 TDs. Stud of studs who will be playing with a downgrade at QB. On the positive side, Will Grier connected with him all 15 times in the passing game in Week 16. In the mix for sure as a hot start could lead to a huge push for the best RB season in yards from scrimmage. Saquon Barkley, NYG (DK – $8,700/FD – $9,300) For the Fantasy owners that survived the first 14 weeks with Barkley, he delivered back-to-back impact games (30.30 and 43.90 Fantasy points) thanks to 422 combined yards with four TDs and eight catches on 54 touches. Despite missing three games, Barkley needs 89 rushing yards to reach 1,000 and 176 combined yards to reach 1,500 on the year. His most significant regression in 2019 came in TDs (7 – 15 in 2018) and catches (49 – 91 in 2018. The Eagles held him to 67 yards with three catches on 20 touches in Week 14. Philadelphia grades 7th vs. the RB position (20.52 FPPG). The Eagles had the most prominent issues with RBs in Week 4 (31.70), Week 6 (31.65), and Week 13 (31.45). They allow 4.0 yards per rush with RBs scoring 12 TDs. Trending forward along with the Giants’ overall offense, but a 4 X game would mean the worst showing of the year by Philly’s defense. Aaron Jones, GB (DK – $8,200/FD – $8,000) After a monster game in Week 16 (160 combined yards with two TDs and two catches on 25 touches), Jones moved to second in RB scoring (20.04 FPPG) in PPR leagues. His success is a meer 147.80 Fantasy points lower than Christian McCaffrey. Jamaal Williams left last week’s game with a shoulder issue, which may lead to Jones receiving the whole show in Week 17 with the Packers making a push for the number one seed in the NFC. He needs 16 rushing yards to reach 1,000 on the year and one more TD to reach 20. The Lions held him to 60 combined yards with four catches on 15 touches in Week 6. Detroit ranks 29th in RB defense (28.69 FPPG), with four teams scoring over 30.0 Fantasy points. They have risk vs. RBs in the passing game (79/817/8 on 105 targets) while rushers gain 4.1 yards per carry with 13 TDs. Jones seems overpriced, but no Williams paired with his matchup points to a high volume game with a chance at multiple TDs. Derrick Henry, TEN (DK – $8,100/FD – $8,800) Over his last two games, Henry battled a quad/hamstring issue leading to a drop in playing time (60 and 58 percent) plus a missed game in Week 16. He still finished with 21 rushes for 86 yards in Week 15 vs. the Texans, which came after a great run over five games (740 combined yards with nine TDs and ten catches – 29.6 FPPG in DraftKings scoring). After 14 games, Henry has 1,535 combined yards with 15 TDs and 18 catches). Houston fell to 27th defending the RB position (27.01 FPPG) with failure in five games (36.60, 33.90, 30.40, 44.40, and 43.70). They allow 4.7 yards per rush with RB scoring six rushing TDs. Much of the Texans’ struggles come via the RB position in the passing game (104/913/8 on 122 targets). Houston doesn’t need this game, and they will rush their starters, which gives Henry a better opportunity for success. The Titans expect him to play on Sunday. Ezekiel Elliott, DAL (DK – $8,000/FD – $8,700) With Dak Prescott struggling to make plays in the passing game, Elliott finished with a down game in Week 16 (84 combined yards with seven catches on 20 touches). Over the previous two games, Elliott had four TDs. His success in Week 15 ended a streak of five games with fewer than 90 yards rushing. Elliott averages 22.3 touches per game with 1,653 combined yards with 12 TDs and 51 catches. In Week 2, he gained 120 combined yards with TD and two catches vs. the Redskins. Washington fell to 30th in RB defense (28.97 FPPG) after two disaster showings (48.70 and 43.90 Fantasy points). They also struggled against RBs in three other contests (32.30, 47.20, 32.20, and 33.60 Fantasy points). The Redskins allow 4.6 yards per rush with RBs scoring 17 TDs. At times, Washington has risk defending RBs in the passing game (92/802/4 on 119 targets). Dallas needs a big win, and they tend to play much better at home. In the mix at the top end. Alvin Kamara, NO (DK – $7,800/FD – $7,900) With one week to go in the season, Kamara ranks 11th in RB scoring (15.33 FPPG) after a plus game vs. the Titans (110 combined yards with two TDs and six catches on 17 touches). He ended his nine-game scoreless streak, but he entended his run of fewer than 100 yards rushing to 13 games. Kamara gains only 6.5 yards per catch with 50 receiving yards or fewer in his last ten games. In Week 12, he finished with 102 combined yards with nine catches vs. the Panthers. On the year, Kamara has 1,273 combined yards with four TDs and 79
