SLEEPER

WR Chris Godwin, Tampa Bay BuccaneersMost of the talk in the offseason and training camp for the Buccaneers has been rave reviews for Godwin. The Buccaneers have already said Godwin will start with DeSean Jackson playing mostly in the slot. Godwin flashed his ability in the final two games last season when he started. He had three catches for 98 yards on six targets in Week 16 and seven catches for 111 yards with a touchdown on 12 targets in Week 17. He has good hands, can catch the ball in traffic is fast and athletic. There’s still a lot of competition for targets, but Mike Evans will get the top cornerbacks, and Godwin is in line to play a lot of snaps.

BUST

RB LeSean McCoy, Buffalo Bills: There are a lot of red flags for McCoy, and that’s before his legal troubles. The offensive line was ranked 27th last season, according to Pro Football Focus. The offensive line lost three starters and is one of the worst in the NFL. McCoy turned 30 in July and had 364 touches last season. There are questions at quarterback, and this will be one of the worst teams in the NFL. McCoy is projected to get a lot of volume, but he scored eight total touchdowns last season, and the offense is worse.

Breakout

WR Mike Williams, Los Angeles ChargersDon’t forget Williams was the seventh overall pick in the 2017 draft. He was excellent in 2016 at Clemson before injuries limited him in his rookie season to 11 catches. Williams is 6-foot-4, 220 pounds and is a red zone threat the Chargers lack, especially with Hunter Henry out with a torn ACL. Williams is a big receiver Philip Rivers will love to throw it up to and let Williams haul it in.

Comeback

WR Emmanuel SandersDenver Broncos: Sanders was the WR17 in points per game two years ago. Before last season, Sanders had three consecutive 1,000-yard seasons. Sanders played in 12 games last year but suffered a high ankle sprain in Week 6 that affected him the rest of the season. Sanders had at least 137 targets in three straight seasons before last year, and the volume will be there again. Quarterback play has been terrible for the Broncos the last few seasons, especially last year. Even if 2017 was a career year for Case Keenum, he’s an upgrade over last year’s quarterbacks of Trevor Siemian, Brock Osweiler, and Paxton Lynch.

Stash & Cash

WR Taywan Taylor, Tennessee Titans: Taylor has been running with the starters with Rishard Matthews sidelined due to an undisclosed injury. Taylor, a third-round pick last season, didn’t get a lot of opportunities last year with a conservative offense. The Titans passing offense was one of the worst last season, but with offensive coordinator Matt LaFleur, who is from the Sean McVay and Kyle Shanahan coaching tree, taking over the offense will open up and utilize the speed of Taylor. He’s a big-play threat any time he touches the ball and could play a bigger role if Matthews or Corey Davis get injured.
