When we have questions on Sunday, this is who we call. We’re essentially bringing our high-stakes connections to FullTime Fantasy. When your league is on the line, who do you trust? Some celebrity journalist who’s never won 10 centNo. Those days are over. Not all experts are considered equal.
WHO IS ADAM KRAUTWURST? You may know Adam as the host of the FullTime Fantasy Podcast and other notable fantasy programs, including our GRINDTIME show. However, Adam is also an outstanding high-stakes veteran who has garnered notable wins. Adam is the reigning KFFSC Big Payback champion (x2) and boasted a Main Event top-5 finish in 2020. Additionally, Adam has a $2500 auction league victory and a 3K Varsity win under his belt.
Adam also dabbles in projections and rankings, favoring an aggressive, proactive approach that separates him from your average analyst. Just part of the territory that comes along with being a diehard Buffalo Bills fan from upstate New York.
Now, let’s read his picks with the 2023 Preseason Pro: Adam Krautwurst.
— BREAKOUT –
J.K. Dobbins (RB) Baltimore Ravens – That’s right! It’s time for Dobbins to break out in a big way. Injuries have limited Dobbins to just 23 games in three NFL seasons. Also, he missed all of 2021 with a torn ACL and struggled to be effective until late last year.
However, once the club took the training wheels off, we saw glimpses of just how explosive Dobbins can be. Starting in Week 14, Dobbins averaged 101 scrimmage yards per game in Baltimore’s final five contests.
Now fully healthy and the unquestioned RB1, Dobbins can be a good runner behind a great Ravens’ offensive line and put up quality RB2. He could even contend for RB1 numbers for fantasy managers.
New OC Todd Monken will have this Baltimore offense passing the ball more than ex-OC Greg Roman ever did. However, it’s hard to tell how much that’ll affect Dobbins’ pass-catching upside.
The Ravens continued to show their support for Dobbins in this year’s NFL Draft. The team did not add any competing in April, nor did they sign any significant challengers to Dobbins’ role via free agency.
Baltimore should run a ton of plays and contend for a top-5 overall offense. That makes Dobbins, as the lead dog, a strong candidate to be a fantasy breakout.

— SLEEPER —
Khalil Herbert (RB) Chicago Bears – Herbert had a nice 2022 season. He finished first in net yards over expectation. That means he’s good. He was one of three backs to rank top 5 in RYOE and rushing yards after contact. The other two to accomplish this feat were Derrick Henry and Nick Chubb. That’s some great company.
Herbert has only worked with the first-team offense in training camp. And he looked the part of a three-down back after a long catch and run TD in Chicago’s preseason opener. The offense should be better overall with a better offensive line and weapons.
Also, there is a new coaching staff in Chicago this season. A coaching staff that drafted rookie Roschon Johnson, who will provide competition for playing time. We don’t know exactly how this backfield will churn out the touches but Herbert will have the first crack at it.
Herbert’s current ADP in FFWC drafts is RB32, making him a sleeper at that price.

— BUST —
Travis Etienne (RB) Jacksonville Jaguars – Etienne finished 2022 as RB 17 and disappointed fantasy managers who drafted him as a top-10 back. He averaged 82.7 rushing yards, and 0.5 TDs per game over the 12 healthy outings from Week 7 through the playoffs.
Doug Pederson spent five years coaching the Eagles before coming to Jacksonville last season. The most carries per game any RB had among those teams was Miles Sanders in 2020, with 13.7. So don’t expect a large rushing volume from Etienne.
Also, Pederson added RB Tank Bigsby in the 2023 NFL draft and he has stolen some first-team work this pre-season. Bigsby has flashed pass-game prowess as well. Meanwhile, Etienne continues to struggle in that department. Bigsby also led Auburn last year in receptions, drawing a healthy 15% target share.
Finally, the bottom line…Etienne isn’t that good and he will probably split time with Tank Bigsby. He is sitting at RB14 in FFWC ADP ahead of guys like Aaron Jones, Damien Pierce, and JK Dobbins.
You will not find Travis Etienne on many of my teams this summer.

— COMEBACK —
Darren Waller (TE) New York Giants – Waller was a star with the Raiders in 2020. He ranked first in target share, first in target volume, second in target per route run rate, and was the TE2 in fantasy points per game.
However, Waller has only played in 20 games the past two seasons as he’s dealt with a variety of injuries and bad luck.
Therefore, the former Raider is in New Jersey with the Giants and is the No. 1 receiving threat for the Brian Daboll-led offense. Daboll has a knack for getting his best players the ball early and often. While in Buffalo, Daboll had WR Stephon Diggs seeing over 150 targets every year.
Fantasy Football World Championship ADP has Waller as the third tight end off the board. Although that’s a steep price, the sky’s the limit for Waller in 2023 if he can stay healthy.

— STASH & CASH —
Sean Tucker (RB) Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Sean Tucker is an explosive undrafted free-agent running back out of Syracuse. Unfortunately, a heart condition led him to going undrafted in April. However, Tucker probably would have been a third-round pick if it weren’t for that ailment.
Tucker made the roster and has been getting some first-team reps spelling Rachaad White. He is definitely more explosive than White and offensive coordinator Dave Canales said that Tucker has done an especially nice job in practice picking up extra yards on checkdowns.
That sounds like maybe some stand-alone value in the passing game. Also, considering how many favorable game scripts the Bucs will see this season, that could be a ton of targets for both backs.
Subsequently, you can draft Tucker with your final pick, stash him on the bench, and cash if Tucker gets his opportunity.

Finally, more high-stakes winners could be providing their picks all this month! Stay tuned as the PreSeason PRO Hub comes to life for the 2023 season and you’ll see who the very best of the best are taking in their fantasy drafts.
