College Production
Cartavious Bigsby earned Class AA All-State and Offensive Player of the Year Accolades at Callaway High in Hogansville, Georgia before enrolling at Auburn in January of 2020. The accolades continued immediately as Bigsby earned SEC Freshman of the Year honors in his first season, rushing 138 times for 834 yards and five scores. In 2021, Bigsby led the Tigers with 1,099 yards and 10 touchdowns while reeling in 21 receptions for an additional 184 yards and was named the school’s Offensive Player of the Year. In his final season at Auburn, Bigsby once again led the team in rushing with 970 yards and snagged a career-best 30-of-42 targets.

Strengths
• Ideal NFL size and frame.
• Vision, burst, and quick change of pace direction make Bigsby an ideal fit in a zone-blocking scheme.
• Power, speed, and decisiveness to be a quality short-yardage option. Also adept at moving piles and churning out extra yards with determination.
• Lived up to his ‘tank’ nickname in 2022, ranking 16th in FBS with 4.16 yards after contact per attempt. Also posted an impressive 50.1% breakaway run rate per PFF.
• Became more productive as a pass-catcher with each season.
• Continued to be productive behind a very poor Auburn run-blocking offensive line.
Concerns
• Ball protection concerns. Bigsby had three drops in 2022 and fumbled five times from 2021-2022. Some of that can be attributed to Bigsby’s refusal to go down and leaving himself vulnerable to additional hits.
• Average speed and pass-catching prowess. NFL teams may view Bigsby as more of a first and second-down option as opposed to a three-down back.
• Bigsby had a knack for trying to bounce the ball outside and won’t be able to be as effective doing that in the NFL with his lack of burst and elite speed.
• Burst Score of 114.8 only ranked in the 31st percentile. 32.5-inch verticle jump was in the 26th.
Fantasy Outlook
Tank Bigsby checks a lot of boxes for success at the NFL level. However, there are enough concerns that his immediate success could be rather limited. If Bigsby winds up in a zone scheme, he could play his way into a committee role right away. For now, his dynasty ADP near the end of the second/top of the third looks about right.
Until we know Bigsby’s landing spot it is difficult to handicap his 2023 fantasy value. For now, his potential as a plus short-yardage and zone runner puts Bigsby on the late-round radar in redraft and dynasty leagues.
