Week 8 Stock Watch
Stock Up
Jacoby Brissett, Indianapolis Colts
Back in Week 4 I had Brissett in the Stock up category and he becomes the first player to make his second appearance in this article. In that article I wrote:
“Fantasy managers can count on Brissett as a lot more than just a bye week filler.”

Chase Edmonds, Arizona Cardinals
David Johnson took himself out of the game in Week 7 and finished with one carry. Something much more serious is at play here regarding Johnson’s injury. The Cardinals signed two veteran free agents in Zach Zenner and Alfred Morris. Teams don’t simply bring in free agents unless they need to add depth.Chase Edmonds looked great against the Giants, rushing for 126 yards and three touchdowns. The only problem is his schedule is absolutely brutal in the next four weeks with two match-ups against the 49ers along with the Saints and Buccaneers. But if Johnson does have a long term injury, Edmonds could see plenty of volume and we LOVE volume in fantasy football!
Mohamed Sanu, New England Patriots
Goes from the 1-6 Falcons to 7-0 Patriots. That is quite the upgrade. Pariots needed a reliable do it all receiver and Sanu can do it all. Julian Edelman has a role and now Josh Gordon is on Injured Reserve. Adding Sanu gives Josh McDaniels a versatile weapon who can catch, run, and even throw. The newly acquired Patriots receiver has a single season career high of 5 touchdowns. He will smah that personal best now that he’s in New England. Big boost to Tom Brady’s fantasy value and Sanu now becomes an every week starter.
Mike Gesicki, Miami Dolphins
With games of 51 and 41 yards the last two weeks, Gesicki is certainly seeing an increase in production since Ryan Fitzpatrick took over under-center. He has a great schedule the next three weeks agains the Steelers, Jets, and Colts. Given the state of the tight end position across the fantasy football landscape, taking a flier on a player like Gesicki isn’t a bad move.
Stock Down
Daniel Jones, New York Giants

Joe Mixon, Cincinnati Bengals
Just when things started looking up for Mixon in Week 5 he follows up his best game of the year (93 yards) with 10 yards against Baltimore in Week 6 and two yards against the Jaguars. Yes TWO yards!!! Is it all his fault? Nope…his O-Line stinks. But we are at a point with him where you really have to have a good reason to start him because there’s plenty of reasons why he should ride your bench.
Robert Woods, Los Angeles Rams
A touchdown virgin in 2019, Woods is just not getting it done this year. His best game came in Week 4 where he caught 13 passes for 164 yards…he has just 10 catches since then with a yardage total 128. He can no longer be relied upon as a productive WR2, and is much more like a borderline WR3.
Travis Kelce, Kansas City Chiefs
It’s not that Kelce isn’t producing at the same level of the other quality tight ends (Ertz, Hooper, Waller, Kittle) it’s that he’s not producing like we expected Travis Kelce to produce. With just one touchdown on the year and no Patrick Mahomes for a few weeks, things may start to get even worse for the Kansas City tight end. Sure he’s averaging 10-13 points every week in the PPR format, but is that good enough? Most certainly considering where people drafted him this year.
