Waiver Wire: Week 7
Now it’s getting scary. Week 7 is firmly the middle of the season. This is another reminder of how fast fantasy football goes by. Whether you’re 1-6 or 7-0, it’s time to reinforce those rosters to make the postseason push. Our Waiver Wire: Week 7 has the latest batch of players to target.
Along with knowing who to pick up, FullTime Fantasy‘s Matchup Analyzer Tool will help you get the most out of your lineup.
Here are the low-rostered players you should consider adding before Week 7.
Week 7 BYES: Chicago Bears, Dallas Cowboys
Ty Chandler (RB) Minnesota Vikings – Because the Vikings were off this week we have not gotten updates on Aaron Jones. If Jones can play, Chandler loses a lot of luster. However, if Jones is out, Chandler has a clear path to a 15-20-touch role in Week 7. Granted, that comes against the Lions’ top-ranked run defense. But being a to procure a starting running back, even for a week, makes Chandler worth a sizable FAAB bid.
Juju Smith-Shuster (WR) Kansas City Chiefs – It’s possible Smith-Schuster slipped off the radar last week since the Chiefs had a Week 6 bye. If that happened, make him the top waiver wire Week 7 target to add. Smith-Schuster thrived in the slot as the Rashee Rice replacement, catching seven balls for 130 yards in Week 5. He won’t put up those types of stats every week. However, Juju has a clear path to a significant role. Be aggressive where you can still add him off the wire.
Romeo Doubs & Christian Watson (WR) Green Bay Packers – Odds are both of these Green Bay wideouts are rostered. However, since they’re often available in public leagues, it’s worth checking. If one, or both are un-rostered, consider making them the top priority for the week, worth every bit of 20%-25% of your remaining FAAB.
Michael Wilson (WR) Arizona Cardinals – I expect Marvin Harrison Jr. to miss Week 7 with a concussion. That puts Wilson in line to be Arizona’s top wideout against the Chargers. Wilson has averaged 4.5 catches over his last four as the club’s No. 2. He’ll have to step up with Harrison out, making him a strong WR3 option this week.
Demario Douglas (WR) New England Patriots – The Patriots had more receiving touchdowns in Week 6 (3) than the previous five games combined. Douglas led the way with a 6/92/1 line on a healthy 27% target share. If Drake Maye can continue to post credible passing numbers, Douglas offers weekly WR3/Flex value. This week, the Patriots travel to London to face Jacksonville’s anemic secondary.
Zach Ertz (TE) Washington Commanders – Ertz ranks 10th among all tight ends with 29 targets. His ceiling is rather capped, but Ertz has surpassed five targets in three of his past four contests. Considering how bad the fantasy TE position has been all season, that makes the veteran an appealing option.
Xavier Legette (WR) Carolina Panthers – The rookie first-rounder has found the end zone in two of his last three games. Both scores came via Andy Dalton passes. Legette has emerged as Carolina’s clear No. 2 option and Dalton looks his way in the red zone. The Panthers will continue to see fantasy-friendly game scripts, setting up Legette to be a reliable source of targets.
Isaac Guerendo (RB) San Francisco 49ers – Guerendo had done next to nothing until Thursday when he got his first extended playing time thanks to a Jordan Mason injury. If Mason is out, Guerendo would be the next man up for the 49ers. San Francisco has a tough matchup playing the Chiefs, who are coming off of a bye. However, volume is volume.
Tyler Allgeier (RB) Atlanta Falcons – It feels like Allgeier could start for about one-third to one-half of the teams. As it stands, he’s stuck as Atlanta’s RB2. However, Allgeier is still productive averaging 10 touches per game. He’s on the cusp of RB3 value for the year. One of the top handcuffs in football, Allgeier has some flex appeal in deeper leagues navigating bye weeks.
Sean Tucker (RB) Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Tucker was a revelation on Sunday, coming off the bench and leading all running backs with 192 scrimmage yards and a pair of touchdowns. However, I would approach with caution. Rachaad White will return this week. Additionally, Tucker was firmly buried on the depth chart behind White and Bucky Irving. Don’t blow your whole FAAB wad chasing yesterday’s numbers.
Tre Tucker (WR) Las Vegas Raiders – Tucker is now the de facto No. 1 wideout in Vegas. Last week, he was looking at coverage from Patrick Surtain Jr. before Surtain left the game with a head injury. Tucker still didn’t post useable fantasy numbers, but the Raiders’ QB play was suboptimal. Herein lies the issue: that situation isn’t going to be resolved anytime soon. Tucker is worth a speculative add but the floor is extremely low.
Drake Maye (QB) New England Patriots – Speaking of Maye, he looked like a big upgrade from Jacoby Brissett. Against a tough defense, Maybe completed 20-of-33 attempts for 243 yards, three scores, and two picks. He also contributed 38 yards on the ground. Expect Maye to retain the starting job for the remainder of the season. He’s a solid Sueprflex QB2 and a priority add in that format.
Tua Tagovailoa (QB) Miami Dolphins – While we’re on the subject of QBs, check to see if Tua Tagovailoa was dropped in your league. Tagovailoa (IR) can return in a couple of weeks. Be proactive.
Kimani Vidal (RB) Los Angeles Chargers – One of my preseason crushes, it was good to see Vidal finally get a chance. And he made it count, housing a 38-yard touchdown on his first NFL touch. Vidal is more dynamic than JK Dobbins and Gus Edwards, who was inactive in Week 6. There isn’t a lot of upside in LA’s offense. However, Vidal is worth stashing on rosters.
D’Onta Foreman (RB) Cleveland Browns – First, check to see if Nick Chubb is somehow available. If so, Chubb would be the top waiver add for this week. Jerome Ford exited Week 6 with a hamstring injury. Assuming he misses time, Foreman would have a clear path to double-digit touches in Week 7 as Chubb is eased back into action. Also, if you can’t land Foreman, Pierre Strong Jr. makes sense as a minimal-bid target.
D’Ernest Johnson (RB) Jacksonville Jaguars – Travis Etienne was benched after an early fumble and phantom “hamstring injury.” Johnson then led the Jaguars in opportunities. The ceiling is now for Johnson. However, if Etienne misses time, the Jaguars would employ a committee with Tank Bigsby and Johnson. In that duo, Johnson boasts more receiving chops.
Bub Means (WR) New Orleans Saints – Chris Olave (concussion) won’t play on Thursday. Means filled in for Olave and commanded a 20% target share against the Bucs. WR-needy teams can throw out a minimal bid on Means. However, keep in mind the Saints travel to Denver to take on a Broncos’ secondary that allows the fewest fantasy points to wide receivers.
Grant Calcaterra (TE) Philadelphia Eagles – If Dallas Goedert (hamstring) is unable to suit up, Calcaterra will fill in as Philadelphia’s tight end. With the attrition at that position, Calcaterra has minimal value as a replacement-level temporary reserve.
