Waiver Wire: Week 6

One-third of the fantasy season is already behind us. Bye weeks are here to make an already challenging season even more difficult. These mid-season games are crucial and our Waiver Wire: Week 6 will keep you ahead of the game.

Along with knowing who to pick up, FullTime Fantasy‘s Matchup Analyzer Tool will help you get the most out of your lineup.

Here are the low-rostered players you should consider adding before Week 6.

Week 6 BYES: Kansas City Chiefs, Los Angeles Rams, Miami Dolphins, Minnesota Vikings

circa

Tank Bigsby (RB) Jacksonville Jaguars – After a forgettable rookie campaign, it’s finally Tank #SZN! Despite playing just 13.2 snaps per game, Bigsby is outplaying Travis Etienne. In Jacksonville’s last two games, Bigsby has turned 21 touches into 219 scrimmage yards and a touchdown. Meanwhile, Etienne has received 24 touches during the stretch and accumulated 120 yards. Additionally, Tank out-snapped ETN in Jacksonville’s Week 5 victory. This looks like a split backfield, and the way Bigsby is playing can’t be ignored.

Josh Downs (WR) Indianapolis Colts – Since debuting in Week 3, Downs has emerged as a legitimate threat out of the slot in Indianapolis. Downs has absorbed 26 targets in three games and is the WR38 in fantasy points per game. Granted, some of that can be attributed to Joe Flacco airing it out. However, Downs has a secure role and needs to be rostered in all formats.

Jalen Tolbert (WR) Dallas Cowboys – Brandin Cooks will miss at least three more weeks. That locks Tolbert into the WR2 spot for a Dallas offense that ranks second in the NFL in passing. Tolbert caught 7-of-10 targets for 87 yards and scored against a tough Pittsburgh secondary on Sunday night. He’s on the WR2/3 radar as long as Cooks is sidelined. That makes him worth a solid 12-15% FAAB.

Tyrone Tracy (RB) New York Giants – Devin Singletary is dealing with a groin injury. With Singletary out, Tracy excelled in Week 5. The rookie rushed for 129 yards on 18 carries. At the minimum, Tracy has earned a bigger piece of New York’s backfield share. However, if Singletary misses Week 6, Tracy has RB2 value facing a bottom-12 Cincinnati run defense.

Ty Chandler (RB) Green Bay Packers – Another backup to consider is Ty Chandler. Aaron Jones exited Week 5 with a hip injury. If Jones misses time, Chandler will dominate backfield touches for the Vikings. However, Minnesota is on bye this week. That gives Jones two full weeks to recover.

Allen Lazard (WR) New York Jets – Lazard has been a top-20 fantasy wideout through five games. I don’t expect that to continue. However, Lazard has a strong rapport with Aaron Rodgers, particularly in the red zone. Regression will happen. But until it does, Lazard should be rostered in all leagues.

Jonathon Brooks (RB) Carolina Panthers – In most leagues Brooks is stashed on an IR spot. However, it’s worth a glance in shallower leagues to see if the rookie rusher is available. Chuba Hubbard has played well enough to retain strong value. But Brooks will have a big role. While you’re at it, see if Nick Chubb is un-rostered.

Juju Smith-Schuster (WR) Kansas City Chiefs – Smith-Schuster appears to be Kansas City’s new slot receiver. That makes him worth a fairly decent FAAB price. Say up to 10% depending on your WR needs.

Jaylen Wright (RB) Miami Dolphins – FullTime Fantasy readers know I loved Wright this summer. If De’Von Achane (concussion) misses time, Wright will get a healthy amount of playing time. The rookie looked good with his first extensive playing time in Week 5, running for 86 yards on 13 totes.

Blake Corum (RB) Los Angeles Rams – Another rookie rusher, Corum got his first significant playing time in Week 5. He played 11 snaps (14.1%) and averaged 5.0 yards on his five carries. Corum moved past Ronnie Rivers as the RB2 behind Kyren Wiliams. That makes him one of the most valuable handcuff backs in the sport.

Michael Wilson (WR) Arizona Cardinals– Wilson led Arizona in targets, receptions, and yards in Week 5. He is playing 79% of Arizona’s snaps and has posted a solid 18.8% target share. The Cardinals will also continue to play in fantasy-friendly game scripts.

Tre Tucker (WR) Las Vegas Raiders – Davante Adams has likely played his final down for the Raiders. That makes Tucker Vegas’ undisputed No. 2 wideout. The team’s quarterback situation is poor. However, the Raiders will see plenty of positive game scripts. Tucker, and his 15% target share, have weekly WR4/FLEX value moving forward.

Tyler Conklin (TE) New York Jets – In a year of disparate tight end play, Conklin enters Week 6 as the overall TE13. New York’s offense is unappealing. However, Conklin has racked up 17 targets in the last two contests. He’s entering the weekly TE1 conversation.

Cade Otton (TE) Tampa Bay Buccaneers – I’m not a fan of Otton’s role, but he does rank third among all tight ends with 19 targets over Tampa’s last three games.

Roschon Johnson (RB) Chicago Bears – I don’t expect Johnson to usurp D’Andre Swift anytime soon. However, Johnson is averaging 10 touches per game and is the team’s goal-line runner.

Ameer Abdullah (RB) Las Vegas Raiders – Don’t overreact to Abduallah’s Week 5 performance. I expect Zamir White to return this week. Abdullah is worth adding in deeper leagues but he’s more of a speculative add than upside target.

Jordan Akins (TE) Cleveland Browns – It might be the Abe Simpson coming/going meme for David Njoku, who is now dealing with a knee injury after just returning from a multi-week absence with an ankle ailment. Akins would continue to fill in if Njoku misses another stretch of games. However, he’s only worth a minimal bid as the Browns’ offense is a disaster.

Drake Maye (QB) New England Patriots – Only a matter of time before Jared Mayo ends the Jacoby Brissett experiment. Maye offers more downfield potential and rushing upside than Brissett. That said, he’s merely a weak QB2 in Superflex formats until proven otherwise.

Xavier Hutchinson (WR) Houston Texans – After Nico Collins departed, Hutchison played in two wide sets for Houston. In all, Hutchinson played 71% of the Texans’ snaps. Collins is week-to-week, which means he’s expected to miss time. There isn’t a ton of upside here, but if you need a warm body to carry you through the bye, Hutch is your guy.

Some other proactive adds: Kendre Miller (RB) New Orleans Saints, Taysom Hill (TE) New Orleans Saints, Ja’Lynn Polk (WR) New England Patriots, Clyde Edwards-Helaire (RB) Kansas City Chiefs
