Fantasy Football Waiver Wire: Week 16
Congratulations on advancing to the semi-finals. Only the best of the best- or luckiest- teams make it this far. However, more untimely injuries complicate rosters in this penultimate week. FullTime Fantasy‘s Fantasy Football Waiver Wire: Week 16 breaks down all the players you should ahead of your semi-final matchup.
Ty Chandler (RB) Minnesota Vikings – Chandler was our top add last week and came up huge, posting the best game of the season for any Minnesota running back with his 157-yard performance. If somehow Chandler slipped through the cracks and is still available, do whatever it takes to add him to your roster.
Noah Brown (WR) Houston Texans – Brown led Houston’s depleted receiving corps in snaps (66) and posted a massive 32.4% target share. Even when Nico Collins returns, Brown is cemented into a solid role with a Texans offense that will have C.J. Stroud back under center. Subsequently, he has WR3 value for the remainder of the season.
Justice Hill (RB) Baltimore Ravens – With Keaton Mitchell’s season over, Hill should revert back to the role he played in the first half of the season. From Weeks 1-9, Hill averaged 8.1 fantasy points per game and had 3-plus receptions in four of the eight games. Gus Edwards will dominate goal-line carries, but Hill will carve out enough of a weekly role to be a decent flex option weekly.
Joshua Palmer (WR) Los Angeles Chargers – It’s possible Palmer was stashed on IR and eventually cut. He returned last week with a bang, catching all four of his targets for 113 yards and a touchdown.
Hunter Henry (TE) New England Patriots – After struggling for most of two months, Henry has topped 19 fantasy points in consecutive weeks. He had a season-high seven grabs and nine targets on Sunday. This week, New England travels to Denver to face a Broncos defense that allows the most fantasy points to tight ends. Therefore, Henry is one of the top streaming options for this slate.
Roschon Johnson (RB) Chicago Bears – I don’t know what to make out of the Chicago backfield. Last week, D’Onta Foreman was a priority waiver add only to have negative yards in the game. Subsequently, it was Johnson who dominated snaps and boasted a 17% target share in Cleveland. Johnson has the highest upside of Chicago’s three backs. However, the inconsistent usage has been very frustrating. Proceed with caution.
DeVante Parker (WR) New England Patriots – Parker played over 90% of New England’s snaps and tied with Demario Douglas with a 16.1% target share. Douglas has been the club’s No.1 wideout for most of the season. But Parker will also see a healthy number of snaps and targets. Plus, the 3-11 Patriots will see plenty of favorable game scripts.
Rashid Shaheed (WR) New Orleans Saints – In his first game since Week 12, Shaheed started and commanded a respectable 15% target share. The Saints didn’t have to throw the ball much on Sunday, which led to a poor game script. Even when Chris Olave returns, Shaheed will continue to see a lot of snaps. Also, he has been the Saints’ main home-run threat, giving him solid value in games where the Saints actually prioritize the passing attack.
Zamir White (RB) Las Vegas Raiders – Starting for the injured Josh Jacobs, White turned 20 touches into 17.5 PPR points on Thursday. If Jacobs remains sidelined, White would be a solid, volume-based RB2 in a tough matchup with Kansas City.
Cade Otton (TE) Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Otton leads all NFL tight ends with a massive 96.7% snap share. He hasn’t been the most consistent fantasy producer, but Otton has caught multiple passes in eight of his last nine games. This week, the Bucs host a Jaguars squad that allows the fifth-most fantasy points to opposing tight ends.
Chase Brown (RB) Cincinnati Bengals – Brown continues to make splash plays. However, he earned 10 touches on Sunday on a mere 13 snaps. Brown has carved out a solid role as Cincinnati’s No. 2 back and looks like a viable option as more than just a handcuff for Joe Mixon managers.
Clyde-Edwards Helaire (RB) Kansas City Chiefs – CEH is listed rather low here because Andy Reid indicated Isiah Pacheco would return in Week 16. With Pachecho back, Edwards-Helaire would have a hard time topping 6-8 touches per game. He definitely is worth a stash for those who have a free roster spot. But expectations should be realistic. On the other hand, Jerick McKinnon is a much safer add where he is still un-rostered.
Jake Browning (QB) Cincinnati Bengals – Browning looks like the real deal. He has posted three consecutive QB1 outings, averaging 318 passing yards and 2.3 touchdowns per game. Additionally, Browning gets a Week 16 rematch with a Steelers team he already defeated in Week 12.
Nick Mullens (QB) Minnesota Vikings – Another QB streaming option, Mullens will make his second start of the season at home against a Detroit defense that has yielded the sixth-most fantasy points to the position so far in 2023.
Tyler Goodson & Trey Sermon (RB) Indianapolis Colts – The law offices of Goodson & Sermon evenly split carries after Zack Moss exited last week with a shoulder injury. Also, both backs were equally effective. However, Moss indicated he will try to play in Week 16. Additionally, Jonathan Taylor is nearing a return. That will reduce the Colts’ ancillary backs to very little role. Therefore, both backs are insurance adds in deeper leagues.
Melvin Gordon (RB) Baltimore Ravens – Keaton Mitchell suffered a season-ending knee injury on Sunday night. Following the game, John Harbaugh said that the club would call up Gordon from the practice squad. Gordon last played back in Weeks 3 and 4, averaging 6.5 fantasy points per contest. Subsequently, he can be added in deeper leagues.
Mason Rudolph (QB) Pittsburgh Steelers – Somehow, Pittsburgh’s offense has regressed after the sacking of Matt Canada. Shoddy quarterback play is the main culprit, so Mike Tomlin will allow Rudolph to try to turn things around against Cincinnati. As depleted as the QB position is, Rudolph warrants Superflex attention.
