It’s hard to believe how quickly the 2022 season is flying by. Further complicating matters is the arrival of those pesky bye weeks. That places added importance on the Fantasy Football Waiver Wire: Week 7.
Here are the top fantasy-relevant, low-rostered free agents to target ahead of Week 7, with FAAB recommendations. Also, don’t forget the Bills, Rams, Vikings, and Eagles are on bye this week.
FAAB denotes Free Agent Acquisition Budget
Deon Jackson (RB) Indianapolis Colts (20% FAAB) – A recommended add last week, Jackson made the most of his opportunity. Indy’s RB3, Jackson got the spot start and turned 22 touches into 121 scrimmage yards and a score en route to finishing the week as the overall RB1. Of course, the huge concern is Jackson was unable to finish the game with a quad injury. Jackson tweeted after the game that he was “all good,” which is reassuring. However, with Jonathan Taylor tentatively expected back this week, Jackson may have a hard time seeing consistent snaps. Thus, a strong but cautious bid is in order.
Brian Robinson (RB) Washington Commanders (13% FAAB) – Robinson indeed got the start and led Washington in carries. He wasn’t overly impressive but did manage to punch in a goal-line score. Robinson’s value will be somewhat capped by a lack of targets but he should be added in all formats.
Phillip Lindsay (RB) Indianapolis Colts (10% FAAB) – Depending on the status of the Colts’ backfield, Lindsay’s range of outcomes is quite volatile. If Deon Jackson is indeed fine, or Jonathan Taylor and Nyheim Hines are cleared, Lindsay might not even be active. However, if those injuries continue to linger, Lindsay could be the next man up in an offense that gave its backs 28 opportunities on Sunday. If you can, hold off on your bid until any clarity comes.
Rondale Moore (WR) Arizona Cardinals ( 10% FAAB) – Rostered in 44% of ESPN leagues, Moore has 26 opportunities in three games. And, that number could be on the rise with Marquise Brown potentially looking at a lengthy absence. Even after the acquisition of Robbie Anderson (4% FAAB), Moore’s role should be secure as the WR2 to DeAndre Hopkins.
Alec Pierce (WR) Indianapolis Colts (10% FAAB) – Over the last three weeks, Pierce has 60 more receiving yards and five more fantasy points than Michael Pittman. Also, Pierce has averaged five grabs and 70 receiving yards during the stretch. The rookie has emerged as a legitimate NFL WR2 and needs to be rostered in all PPR leagues.
Kenyan Drake (RB) Baltimore Ravens (10% FAAB) – What a frustrating backfield. Just when J.K. Dobbins looked poised to emerge, Drake came out of nowhere to generate 119 rushing yards on 10 carries. Not bad for a guy who was a healthy scratch two weeks ago. This backfield will remain volatile but Drake needs to be added in most leagues.
Wan’Dale Robinson (WR) New York Giants (7% FAAB) – Robinson only played 23% of New York’s snaps but led the receiving corps in grabs (3) and yards (37.) He also scored a touchdown and produces a 142.7 QB rating when targeted. Expect his role as the Giants’ slot receiver to grow.
Greg Dulcich (TE) Denver Broncos (7% FAAB) – Quite a debut for Dulcich. The third-rounder finally played and saw a whopping 71% snap rate against the Chargers. More importantly, he caught 2-of-3 targets for 44 yards and a touchdown.
Robert Tonyan (TE) Green Bay Packers (6% FAAB) – Another team struggling to involve their wideouts is the Packers. That certainly won’t be helped by Randall Cobb‘s injury. However, it will benefit Tonyan, who has emerged as the club’s No. 3 target over the past month. Coming off of a career-best 10 receptions and 90 yards, Tonyan is now a top-10 fantasy tight end for the season. And he’s widely available on most league’s waiver wire.
Mike Boone (RB) Denver Broncos (5% FAAB) – With Denver still due to play on Monday evening, Boone looks like a good bet to remain part of the new-look backfield. He turned 10 touches into 85 yards in Week 6. This included snagging all three of his targets. Boone looked good as a complement to Melvin Gordon and could be one fumble away from a starting role.
Update: Boone logged all of one carry on Monday. Meanwhile, Latavius Murray (7% FAAB) racked up 15. Melvin Gordon also barely played. This is a frustrating situation that will be fluid. The smart play here might be to simply avoid the Denver backfield, altogether.
Matt Ryan (QB) Indianapolis Colts (5% FAAB) – Surprisingly, Ryan is now a QB1 for the season after his strong Week 6 showing. With four starting quarterbacks unavailable this week due to byes, Ryan looks like a solid streaming option. Facing a Titans’ defense allowing the third-most fantasy points to quarterbacks also looks appealing. However, be wary of Ryan’s road struggles before bidding too much.
Matt Ryan home/road split in 2022
at home: 967 passing yards (322.3), 7 TD, 1 INT
on road: 798 passing yards (266), 1 TD, 6 INT— Jody Smith #TagsStrong💪 (@JodySmithNFL) October 17, 2022
DeVante Parker (WR) New England Patriots (4% FAAB) – Parker continues to lead New England’s pass catchers with 188 snaps. His target share has been inconsistent but Parker has surpassed double-digit fantasy points in three consecutive contests.
Isiah Pacheco (RB) Kansas City Chiefs (4% FAAB) – Pacheco only played 10 snaps but ran six routes and got four touches. Clyde Edwards-Helaire has been under four fantasy points in consecutive games while playing less of a role as a receiver. View Pacheco as a stash, but one with solid upside.
Caleb Huntley (RB) Atlanta Falcons (4% FAAB) – The Falcons continue to be one of the most run-heavy teams in football. And they’re rotating backs often. Huntly only played 20 snaps on Sunday but led the team with 16 carries. He won’t offer much in the passing game but that kind of usage warrants attention.
Taylor Heinicke (QB) Washington Commanders (4% FAAB) – Carson Wentz will miss a minimum of one month with a fractured finger. That sets up Heincke to make multiple starts but it won’t be easy treading. Wahington’s next four opponents are Green Bay, Indianapolis, Minnesota, and Philadelphia. Heincke finished 25th in fantasy points per game in 2021. Wentz is 14th in that metric.
Corey Davis (WR) New York Jets (3% FAAB) – Ever since Zach Wilson returned, it’s been frustrating to see the Jets’ young receiving corps falter. Davis has been performing well as the club’s deep threat but isn’t garnering enough catches to be a fantasy starter. That said, he can be a decent bye-week fill-in and depth add that should be pretty cheap on the waiver wire.
Tyquan Thornton (WR) New England Patriots (3% FAAB) – Thornton debuted in Week 5 and saw his snaps double in Week 6. He took advantage of the extended playing time by scoring a pair of touchdowns. Don’t overreact to those TDs, which are hard to predict. But, notice a young player whose playing time is on the rise and toss out a minimal bid.
Cade Otton (TE) Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3% FAAB) – Cameron Brate exited Week 5 with a concussion and Week 6 with a neck injury. X-rays on his neck came back negative, but he could be sidelined for some time. Otton has taken advantage of the extended reps and should be in for a big boost in snaps.
Mac Jones (QB) New England Patriots (3% FAAB) – Jones was close to suiting up in Week 6 and will get another day to recover before the Patriots’ Monday night contest. Before he injure his ankle, Jones was trending in the right direction. If he can carry over that momentum, Jones is a solid streaming option available in over 90% of ESPN leagues.
Mark Ingram (RB) New Orleans Saints (3% FAAB) – Ingram has averaged over 10 touches per game in the Saints’ last three. Oddly, the aging veteran has actually forced more missed tackles and is creating more yards after contact than Alvin Kamara. Managers who rely on Kamara could do worse than to target Ingram as a cheap insurance policy.
Rachaad White (RB) Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3% FAAB) – Another team RB2 to keep an eye on is White. The rookie has caught 3-plus balls in Tampa’s past three games. White is a Leonard Fournette injury away from being an RB2, so he should be on the radar.
Parris Campbell (WR) Indianapolis Colts (1% FAAB) – Don’t be misled by Campbell’s huge Week 6 showing. He’s playing enough to warrant an add in deeper leagues but averaged two catches and 22 yards in Indy’s first five games. Bid appropriately.
