College Production
A two-way star who also excelled at basketball and track at Eureka High School in Eureka, Missouri, Haskins was an unheralded three-star recruit who signed as a running back with Michigan. Spent 2018 redshirt season converting to linebacker before going back to offense as a sophomore. Had multiple 100-plus yard outings and finished 2019 with 622 rushing yards and six scores. Broke out in 2021, earning First-team All-Big Ten and Second-team All-American accolades after rushing for 1,327 yards, snagging 18 passes, and scoring 20 times.
Strengths
• Huge power back that delivers massive hits, has a powerful stiff-arm, and runs through tacklers, creating extra yards after contact.
• Superb strength. 27 bench press reps ranked in the 93rd-percentile at the Scouting Combine.
• Fared well as a pass-catcher.
• Excellent ball security.
• Improved vision. Hits the hole decisively for a bigger power back.
• Set Michigan school record with 20 touchdowns in 2021.
Weaknesses
• Lacks speed and lateral agility.
• May not have enough quickness or agility to avoid taking a ton of punishing hits.
• Route-running and movement in and out of breaks, as well as pass-blocking need improvement. May limit him to a short-yardage role initially.
• While vision was better in 2021, Haskins still doesn’t possess the ability to help himself create and tends to simply take what is given by the blockers.
Fantasy Outlook
Haskins’ emergence from a career committee back to All-Big Ten First Team was quite surprising. He certainly has the size profile to be an effective between-the-tackles option in the NFL but he’s still a work in progress as a creator and in the passing game. He’ll likely draw attention on Day Three as a thunder option in a committee backfield. Haskins will likely command third-round attention in rookie drafts but will need a lot of luck to have any redraft value.
Post-Draft Recap
The 131st overall pick in Round Four, Haskins landed in a good spot as the possible back-up to Derrick Henry in Tennessee. Like Henry, Haskins is big and won’t be too involved as a receiver. However, unlike King Henry, Haskins doesn’t have that top-end speed and won’t break off many carries of 15-plus yards. View Haskins as a decent hand-cuff for dynasty managers still rostering The King, but not someone you should prioritize in fantasy drafts.
