College Production
Allgeier didn’t get much work his first two seasons but burst onto the scene in 2020. He rushed for 1,103 yards and 13 touchdowns on an impressive 7.5 yards per carry and added 14 receptions for 174 yards through the air. Those numbers only got better in 2021 as he rushed for 1,601 yards and a whopping 23 TDs. His yardage total was good for fourth in the country and nobody scored more TDs. He topped off his college career by winning the Offensive MVP in the Independence Bowl rushing for 192 yards and three TDs.

Fantasy Outlook
His size should be viewed as an advantage but may have him put into a box as a short-yardage box. He has the potential to be much more though. There is no doubt he has three-down ability, however, he will almost certainly be paired with a speedy change-of-pace back. He’s a no-doubter for short-yardage usage, nevertheless, if given the opportunity he could also excel on early-down work and could chip in with some PPR value.
The perfect landing spot for Allgeier would be Miami. He has the experience and thrived in a zone-blocking scheme similar to what Mike McDaniel utilizes in his rushing attack. The team desperately needs some size in their backfield. A guy who can get the tough yards with work-horse potential. If he landed in South Beach it wouldn’t surprise me if he earned himself a much larger role than what will be anticipated on draft day, even in a very crowded backfield. An expanded role is a possibility regardless of where he lands, but the odds of it happening in Miami seem much greater based on their situation and his skill set.
On The Clock
No other FBS running back has more yards after contact since 2000 than Allgeier, who also has 36 touchdowns in the past two seasons, which trails only Breece Hall. There’s a lot to like about this powerful runner who has the vision to be a successful NFL runner. In single QB league, we’d advocate taking a shot on Allgeier over the unproven throwers like Matt Corral and Kenny Pickett. Target Allgeier in Round 2.
