College Production
We have a limited sample size with Harris being that he didn’t play much as a freshman and last season he was limited due to a back injury. He was still productive those seasons we just didn’t get much. As a freshman, he saw 21 carries for 179 yards and four touchdowns while adding three catches for 26 yards. Last season, he only carried the ball 152 times but still led the team with 660 yards and four TDs. He also caught 11 passes for 89 yards.
However, in a Covid shortened 2020 he was good enough to make Second-Team All-SEC. In 10 games, he rushed for 1,138 yards and 15 TDs on just 185 carries while tacking on 21 receptions for 156 yards and a TD in the passing attack. This is what NFL teams will be looking for when his name is called during the draft.
Strengths
- Ideal short-yardage banger.
- Is a force between the tackles and finishes off defenders.
- Is tough to bring down once he gets going.
- Good vision, finds holes, and makes the right cut.
- Good ball security.
- Showed ability to contribute to the passing attack
Weaknesses
- Lack of speed limits outside runs.
- Not much of a blocker.
- Lacks elusiveness.
- Back surgery is a concern.
- Takes time to accelerate.
- Probably best utilized in a committee.
Fantasy Outlook
Harris has all the makings of a fantasy vulture. He may never be a true RB1 on his team, but he will be a menace for the guy who is. Look for him to come in on the goal-line and punch in TDs after another guy drove down most of the field. He is a load to handle up the middle and will not be brought down easily. His ability to catch passes may give him a bit of a fantasy boost compared to your usual battering ram back.
Every team can use a guy like a Harris, however, I see him fitting right in with Atlanta behind Cordarrelle Patterson. Patterson is an explosive, versatile back, but could use a big guy behind him to get those tough yards. Harris would be an upgrade over an aging, slow Mike Davis. It’s tough to predict where a Day 3 pick will land, nevertheless, this would be a perfect fit.
