College Production
5-star recruit out of Scotland County High School (NC) who rushed for over 7,000 yards and scored 119 touchdowns and excelled as a sprinter on the track team before tearing his ACL during senior season. Enrolled early at Georgia only to tear his other ACL in the offseason. In 2019, averaged 5.2 yards per carry on 78 carries behind D’Andre Swift. Downhill power was on display during his sophomore campaign when he rushed for 779 yards and 11 TDs for the Bulldogs. Produced another 11 scores and career-best 856 rushing yards for the national champs in 2020.
Strengths
• Chiseled, muscular frame capable of generating a ton of power and moving piles. Lowers pad level and can absorb, as well as deliver punishing hits.
• 4.40 40-yard dash (96th-percentile) at Indy ranked 7th among all running backs. 114.2 Speed Score was also a 95th-percentile figure.
• Lowers head and trucks smaller would-be tacklers. Will generate a ton of yards after contact and break tackles while showcasing enough speed to generate ample chunk plays.
• Decisive, one-cut power back with plus vision who should excel in a zone scheme and as a short-yardage option.
• Posted the seventh-highest SPARQ Score of any running back over the past five NFL Scouting Combines.
• Plus work ethic and leadership qualities.
Weaknesses
• Multiple knee injuries with torn right ACL (2017) and left ACL (2018).
• Although his Combine performance was solid, White has little experience as a receiver, recording just 17 grabs for 132 scoreless yards at UGA.
• Lack of pass protection prowess is likely to keep him on the sidelines on third downs and obvious passing situations.
• Didn’t create a lot or showcase a ton of agility Tended to take what was given from his blockers rather than create.
Fantasy Outlook
Just because White didn’t catch many passes at Georgia doesn’t mean he can’t, but that lack of receiving production is a major concern, especially in PPR leagues. For not, White projects to be a first- and second-down runner as the thunder part of a committee backfield. He could develop into a Leonard Fournette or Nick Chubb type of power back if he can improve in pass protection and as a receiver. White could be one of the first five running backs taken and warrants second-round attention in rookie-only drafts but his redraft and dynasty value are a little cloudy until we see landing spot and the potential to earn reps right away.
